EggsMichelle · 27/02/2013 12:35

Advice please, F has a cold so bought a nasal aspirator thing but his snot is all dry and hard, do I get a saline spray to soften it? He sound so snuffle and has started snoring!

Chloe55 · 27/02/2013 12:47

Yes you will need to soften it with saline, good luck Smile

Equimum · 27/02/2013 13:19

eggs our little F has a horrid cold too, and the saline drops are really helping - they do make him sneeze, though.

WLmum · 27/02/2013 13:30

What was that app thing about? Cheeky gits!
Had my 6week check today, bloody waste of time and Tabs had her jabs. Poor baby screamed but boobs made her better. Happily playing under her gym just now!

Gaviscon alert - while I was at the drs I thought I'd fill the prescription - some sort of shortage on infant gaviscon, none of our 3 local pharmacies have any. Just about to start phoning round a wider area.

SpottyTeacakes · 27/02/2013 13:38

Eggs hope he feels better soon!

WL I had read there's a shortage, if you can't get any could you ask for ranitidine instead? Not sure about that app but they've done it on loads of threads.

Just trying to get ds to sleep as he's only had two ten minute in-car naps today. He seems to be going off in his bouncy chair then I need to Hoover the whole house. Dd will have to watch cebeebies entertain herself for a bit Grin she did ballet at nursery today and loved it so that's another £60 a term Hmm

WLmum · 27/02/2013 13:46

Phew found some at the 5th place I rang! Off there in a min.

halesball · 27/02/2013 15:07

HV has been H now weighs 15.3lbs OMG! Shes coming back in 4 weeks. Has anyone else seen their HV 6 times? She has given me the PND questionnaire every time. I don't feel as though i'm depressed, i found it hard to cope at the beginning but then everyone does don't they? It was just a culture shock i think.

SpottyTeacakes · 27/02/2013 15:21

I've only had HV visit once but then I'm in dc2? Sounds like she just wants to offer you support if you want it Smile

HoneyMumandSon · 27/02/2013 15:38

I've got a load of infant gaviscon I can post if people baby get hold of it- we got a full prescription and only used 3 sachets.

HoneyMumandSon · 27/02/2013 15:39

*if people can't get hold of it.

IsThatTrue · 27/02/2013 16:01

Well after 3-4 days of mammoth feeding we have had a day of mammoth sleeping. Ds2 went to sleep at 11 last night and woke at 3 and 5.30 and 7. Got him ready for school run and he slept from 8.30-9. We went to the coffee shop with friends so he was awake and fed 9-10, asleep 10-12.30 Shock fed and played until 2.30 then fed ready for school run. Slept 3-3.30. Just had a feed and now playing. He's emptying my boobs at each feed too which is good as they are filling well between feeds now. We have only had 1 poo today though which is not normal. And some mucus type sick but I'm putting that down to his cold.

I hope other babies are behaving!

PurplePidjin · 27/02/2013 16:33

Hales, my hv has visited once, the first check. It's now 8 weeks since i walked in to clinic and begged for support after dp's stroke. Sum total of hv help = 1 referral to homestart, 5 weeks after i asked. The fax arrived on the coordinator's desk as she was leaving to visit me - surestart did one too i cried after clinic

When i went back to chase it up and cried again and told them i was struggling to get food in between caring for a new born ebf baby and a disabled dp, they suggested i cook extra food to freeze to make it easier another day.

Thankfully i have a sensible gp and am walking distance of the surestart centre!

MaMaPo · 27/02/2013 16:33

Not this one. Been at a friends place for lunch - 5 of us with 5 babies - and then decided to go for a walk. C started her pram screaming fit again so I've had to abandon the walk and am sat on a bench on the high street in the cold, trying to feed her to sleep. I hate this development so much. Feel really :(

MaMa, have you tried going to a sling meet to see if that helps? Or find a consultant near you and get them out to you 1:1 (this will cost but worth it!) There are so many different types - I'm a novice and have 4 for different occasions! R howls in his buggy but sleeps for hours in the sling no matter what i do or where i am - 3 hours round the shops with my mum the other day :o he just needs to be cuddled

MaMaPo · 27/02/2013 17:04

Pidj, I have an ergo and a homemade moby. She's not great in the latter, ok in former, but I need to use a pram sometimes as my back isn't great. She also howled in her ergo on Sat anyway. Feels a bit hopeless.

Sad sounds like you need some decent rl support. 2 ticks and I'll find a link...

I underdress R Blush do you have a blanket or sheepskin under her and all the accoutrements over the top? Sorry if that's a grandmother-eggs suggestion!

WLmum · 27/02/2013 17:14

Bless you honey! Will let you know if I get desperate.

hales mws came alot to start with as I was struggling with bfing and was v upset about it.

mama Sad it will pass I promise.

MaMaPo · 27/02/2013 17:15

Yes, she's warm enough. What I need is the baby I had for 11 weeks who wasn't a pram screamer!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/02/2013 17:20

Mamapo sorry you're having such a hard time Sad

Pidj how is your dh? And your lovely ds? Haven't heard much recently!

Secondsop · 27/02/2013 17:20

pidg that was spectacularly useless advice from the Hv / ss, telling someone struggling to get food in to do more cooking!

willyou thanks for that re the formula - it's odd isn't it that the same brand doesn't have the same instructions the world over? I'll keep doing it my way - as you say, it's the temperature of the water that matters and water below 70degrees won't kill the bacteria in the formula.

EggsMichelle · 27/02/2013 17:36

Only had one hv visit as well, but expected to go to the clinic once a month.

F doesn't scream, but doesn't seem happy in the push chair. I know you are meant to lay them flat, but next time I'm going to prop him up a little and see if that makes him happier.

Planning a trip to London in the next month, going sight seeing with the il's. Is it practical to carry him in the wrap all day? I have a caboo, and plan to get him out and pass him around to spare my back when I can, but do I need to bring a pushchair?

MaMaPo · 27/02/2013 17:42

Yes, sorry seconds, I have no idea about formula in Oz! I've never had a baby there ;). Glad you're enjoying it - can I ask what general area you're staying in? Def go back to Daylesford!

Yes, Pidj, how is your husband recovering? I remember when your HV gave you that useless advice - at our lunch today we were comparing who had the worst HV experience, and I think you win hands down!

Hales, HV saw us twice at home, and have seen them in clinic a couple if times. Largely unhelpful.
