I have a slightly unsettled baby too! Is it the 2 month blues?

i do think they can forget to close their eyes. when Yunior is very sleepy i run my finger down his nose and he'll close his eyes. otherwise he just gets a glazed look and startles if I move.

utopian99 · 27/02/2013 01:28

Interesting monster, I wonder if that'll work on O?

He was very brave at jabs today and so far since had been okay, just a lot more sleepy and when not sleeping feeding, as when he was new.. I, on the other hand, feel like the original Vile Betrayer for letting someone hurt him. He was in quite a happy alert mood larking about on my knee so I saw his little face go from smiling at me to shock and real tears... Sad

13lb 4, though and 60cm long now!

utopian99 · 27/02/2013 01:31

isthat know what you mean about sleep, have a deadline end of this week so if O didn't sleep/feed in my lap while I work I'd be working once dh got home to hold him.

Wondering how this will work with a dc2 if O is only 18months or so..

pmgkt · 27/02/2013 01:57

We don't get good naps either, although he likes his bouncer.
I'm awake, ed has slept for 7 hours now and I'm thinking he will wake up soon so no point going to sleep, but its been nearly an hour now. He is in his nursery which is next door but I can't hear him yet. Part tempted to go and check on him or even wake him but I don't want to discourage this either. never happy are we!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/02/2013 02:21

Crappy night again Sad

halesball · 27/02/2013 02:33

We're having a bad night too spotty. Sods Law as the health visitor is coming in the morning n i'll be knackered so will look like i'm not coping!!

pmgkt · 27/02/2013 02:34

Just after I pressed post he woke, he's fed, changed, nice leaked nappy, and back in bed. Fx he will go back to sleep, quiet so far.

Oh spotty poor you. You have done so well feeding. I think if I were you I would have given up by now so that someone else could do a night or 2. How much does your Lo weigh now?

EggsMichelle · 27/02/2013 02:39

Spotty hope he exhausts himself so you get a good rest of the night.

I feel hard done by if I don't get a solid 3hr nap out of F in the day, he is out like a light when I put him tummy down on the sofa. Sadly it won't last once he starts rolling, looked at getting a bed rail to stop him rolling off, but would probably be more sensible buying him a travel cot.

Put him down at 7.30 (I went to bed too, his 4.30am wakes have been killing me) and he woke at 2 [Shock] he's just gone back down now, but no doubt we will be up for the day at his next feed.

WLmum · 27/02/2013 02:48

Argh! T is having a lovely feed but I desperate for the loo!

WLmum · 27/02/2013 03:02

I can get T to close her eyes too by stroking down her nose, but only if she's really sleepy. Should have tried it earlier as she'd zoned out in her bouncy chair (first time ever) and it made her jump when I picked her up and she really startled and howled! Poor little mite. She got her own back later though when she was having a kick with no nappy on (her fave thing) when she suddenly started to really cry so I picked her up and she promptly did a massive all over me - even had to change my bra and knickers!

IsThatTrue · 27/02/2013 03:04

Snap WL I have this problem most nights. I have been known to take ds2 still latched and go to the loo if I can't manage to hold it!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/02/2013 04:55

I need a wee too!

Pmgkt he was 11lb10 a week ago.

Eggs he is sleeping it's just he went down at 9:15 and woke at 12, 2 (where I let him munch on his hands for 20 minutes before I fed him!) and now 4:45.

Our room is boiling tonight for some reason though. Oh well up in an hour.... Oooo I have pain au chocolate for breakfast though Grin got my smear too so will have to go to costa between nursery drop and appointment as it would be a waste of petrol to come home again...

utopian99 · 27/02/2013 07:16

Wow no posts for a while, fx all the babies are sleeping! O went down at 11 last night although really had been asleep well before then. We tend to stay up and let him sleep on us while we watch tv - at what point should I try putting him to bed with the monitor on?

Anyway stayed asleep till 1.30 then 4.30, was wriggling furiously at 5.30 but rocked him back to sleep and now awake again. My boobs are like marble!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/02/2013 07:20

It's up to you utopian, I think 12 weeks is a good age, I personally probably wouldn't leave it later than that Smile

Secondsop · 27/02/2013 07:37

seymore and mamapo, do you know if you can buy Aptamil in ready mixed cartons in Australia? I've found the powder (well it's Aptamil Gold so not exactly the same but Z seems to like it) but cartons would be so much easier.

I'm also highly confused by the instructions on the powder. It says to make the feed with cooled boiled water and then heat it up to feedin temperature, but I thought formula had to be made with water over 70degrees in order to kill the bacteria in the formula (and then cooled).

EggsMichelle · 27/02/2013 07:39

Utopian we started using the monitor from 6wks. We have an angelcare one with pressure mat so that made me feel more comfortable leaving him.

F went back to sleep at 2.30 and slept until 6, so just one wake last night! Very Envy of your pain au chocolate Spotty, it was fruit and fibre with added raisins and seeds for me, which was probably as many calories!!!

WLmum · 27/02/2013 07:45

When your ready utoptian. We started doing it a few weeks ago - before that it wouldn't have worked as she was still doing mega cluster feeding and napping in-between all eve. It gives me a couple of child free hours and means I can help DH with eve chores if he's here, or do them myself if he's not. If you're happy having him up with you then that's fine as long as you want.

eggs - so Envy of 3 hour nap! It will come I know.

I've got my 6 week check today (at 10 weeks) and dd has her first jabs Sad!
must make smear appointment!

EggsMichelle · 27/02/2013 07:49

Wlmum we had already slept 7.30-2 before then!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 27/02/2013 08:13

utopian we started at the weekend, 10w, J wouldn't settle in is at night and just got more and more tired until he'd end up screaming. We now put him down around 8am. It's been a bit hit and miss though as sometimes he won't wake/dream feed and so wakes at 2 for a bottle and then sometimes up at 5 Sad.

Seconds I read about that on another thread the other day. In Australia they still follow the old formula guidelines. I personally would stick with our way. Like you say water under 70deg won't kill the bugs in the formula

SpottyTeacakes · 27/02/2013 08:20

Oh yes seconds I would use hot water too

utopian99 · 27/02/2013 08:33

Thanks for the replies, sounds like we could try soonish then. Part of me would enjoy some us time in the evenings, part of me will feel bad leading him I think! I know the monitor's fine as I've left him sleeping with it on during the day to do chores..

Chloe55 · 27/02/2013 08:37

Dd only sleeps in 20min bouts max during they day too and they are generally on me or in the car.

Bad night last night, we all have coughs and colds in the house, dd has been feeding poorly past couple of days (screaming after a minute or 2) but I have a feeling it might be due to her feeling unwell-looks like she will take after dh' s side of the family for colds, they are always accompanied by a cough Sad , cue hardly any sleep for us!

Honey she fully wakes around 6.30-7.30am for about an hour or so then goes back down for 20mins, which is great when dh does school run but a pita when I do it!

MaMaPo · 27/02/2013 10:29

Pram screaming fits are back, and I'm on long bus ride. So far so horrible. Am on bus feeding her right now. Fx she falls asleep.

Chloe55 · 27/02/2013 11:09

I'm impressed at your bus feeding-not convinced dd would stay latched on at the bumpy ride! Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 27/02/2013 11:25

Smear test done. Ds lied on his changing bag changing mat on the floor!
