Morning mummy champions,

Right. This week the daily fail has run several stories on BF/FF and I have concluded that the only way to satisfy them is not to feed your child at all. Or maybe just give them water. From a cup. Or maybe a wee hose.

The other day there was a sort of anti-BF story which ended with a long list of the contents of formula and how dubious they are.

Then there was the comfort formula story - not a problem it itself but the comments were poisonous.

Now today we get "hooray for BF but boo for babies. Stupid irresponsible nork feeders"

I am tired of this. I actually feel a bit worn down by it. I might need a wee MN break as some of the comments made elsewhere are pretty horrid.

Anyway. In nicer news I am in my kitchen filled up with coffee and French toast. DH has made a big bolognese and I have a baby dressed in a kitty sleepsuit.

In other news I think I am broody. Dear god get me to a doctor!

horseylady · 24/02/2013 10:55

pass I feel like that wrt mn but its much easier reading on here and avoiding the horrid topics and threads. There are some lovely people on mn but some really nasty ones.

ValiumQueen · 24/02/2013 11:00

pass you are welcome to borrow DD2 for a couple of hours. I guarantee that will knock the broodiness on the head.

ValiumQueen · 24/02/2013 11:01

cat you are awesome. That is all.

Passmethecrisps · 24/02/2013 11:01

Rofl VQ! That might just do it. In all honesty, there are some days when I can barely cope with the needs of the cat combined with P

misslaughalot · 24/02/2013 11:02

Well a much better night here, 11hrs with feeds at 3.30 and 5.40, but this was only because she slept with us.

When she's in our bed she always rolls herself onto her side. I support her with my arm (which she cuddles Smile ) so she doesn't roll any further but I'm wondering if this is how she prefers to sleep? She's pretty much filling her basket now and doesn't have much room in there so maybe it might be time to move to her cot? wonders how we might squeeze the cot into our room

Just thinking aloud really...

PetiteRaleuse · 24/02/2013 11:02

The DM love nothing more than to upset people. They make a fortune from people clicking on their shoddily written articles. Liz Jones, Jan Moir and numerous others are well paid to shit stir. This blog post is interesting: dmreporter.wordpress.com/2012/11/02/allgrownup/

The best thing we could do is ignore them completely, but that is easier said the done.

Cacacaz · 24/02/2013 11:07

detective you are welcomeWink I've never tried the tandoori chicken with breasts, I can't see why it wouldn't work though. Sil is exactly the same she can't contemplate eating anything with bones.

I refuse to read the Daily Fail, after many a debate in our staff room, one of my colleagues was an avid reader who used to think their articles were gospel.

Stunt you obviously needed the rest, I hope dh continues to help you sleep by giving you a break at night.

Cat I think you are Wonder Woman, I couldn't string 2 sentences together never mind look after 5 children.

Evilwater · 24/02/2013 11:10

What a night, N was up pretty much every hour after 1am. Sad I have no idea why, could it be his teeth?
I made pancakes for breakfast, and they were very yummy, even N wanted to taste it.Grin
Does anyone else get kicked in the boob, by thier baby?
Ill try and read the posts later,
Evil

Sophiathecheesefairy · 24/02/2013 11:13

Sympathy coming your way catbag

FatimaLovesBread · 24/02/2013 11:29

10 hours she slept!! Woohoo!
But then she's been sick 4 times on 3 different sets of clothes already this morning, boo!

YellowWellies · 24/02/2013 11:29

Pass don't avoid MN! we'd miss you. Just avoid threads other than this one if you're feeling a bit weary of cat fights. The DM is misogynistic pure and simple and delights in making women feel like shit - its written by women fearing blokes and the sort of vain self obsessed jealous insecure birds who have no female friends. Ignore it xx

Evilwater · 24/02/2013 11:40

Pass- please don't go. Yes there are some crazy people on MN. Thanks for the mail bashing, I never read thier paper as it is only fit for wiping my ass.

YW- yes we do use alot of antibiotics, but we Deffo need to use them correctly.

Fatima - Grin
Miss-I'm jelous that your Lo is rolling.

glendathefedupwitch · 24/02/2013 12:36

Sorry some of you had shite nights without sleep - it really is worse than any other part of parenting!!!

Dots made up for the 2 crap nights with her personal best letting me lie until 9 am!!

Gave dh his box of candy and he had sent me my favourite song via iTunes - Candi Staton you've got the love and then brought up a candy bouquet (ill put a pic on fb) so we're sat in bed eating chocolate for brekkie watching music videos and introducing Dottie to teenage dirt bag, buddy holly and slim shady lol

Pass please don't leave us!!! I don't go on any other bit of mn as when I have previously I've been flamed and accused of all kinds of shit!!

Cat - I bow down to your greatness as I do with vq, pikz, detective and pretty much all of you

Elizadoesdolittle · 24/02/2013 12:55

Not had a chance to read thread properly but just wanted to say pass please don't avoid our thread, I'd miss you and I'm sure all the others would too.

Well DH has come good. He took DD1 out this morning and I got to stay in bed till 10:30. Heaven. He's just made lunch and we are off to in laws this afternoon. Today is a good day.

Passmethecrisps · 24/02/2013 12:59

Well shucks. As if I could ever leave you guys! I do think I will stay away from certain threads. It's a shame though.

Crap sleep is crap. I live in constant fear of the dreaded regression. I am so sorry for those who are scraping by on a handful of hours.

stunt I hope you feel a bit better after some sleep. I think you needed the rest.

How are you feeling today PR?

BigPigLittlePig · 24/02/2013 13:33

I have mixed feelings about little pig today.
Positive ones - she slept 11-6.30, and then til 10 so we got a lie in
Negative ones - she refused bottles again this morning - one of thawed & warmed ebm, and one of fresh ebm Sad Not quite sure what that means, as she's been taking bottles with no problem up until yesterday. At least it means dh can't keep asking when I'm going to switch to ff anymore!

Sorry to hear some of you had rubbish nights (too many of you to name check I fancy)

pass don't go! just avoid the blood-boiling rage-inducing threads easier said than done

DH just making lunch, then we're going to light the fire and watch a film whilst it tries to snow outside Grin

ValiumQueen · 24/02/2013 13:46

Just made flapjack again. Apparently oats improve milk supply. That is my excuse anyway.

Pikz · 24/02/2013 13:51

Thoroughly fed up. Fed up because I get made to feel I have to justify why I am now formula feeding my child. Fed up because of family pressure to drag my child around the world this year to satisfy family.

When do I get a break, when does he get a break. Now I'm under pressure to spend Xmas in SA. When I shall go back to work two weeks before Xmas and now I'm being made to feel guilty I don't want to do it. I just want to enjoy my son without all this stupid pressure :(

Sophiathecheesefairy · 24/02/2013 14:11

Hugs pikz family pressure is tough.

Don't go pass I avoid the DM other than the freebee on the BA shuttle bus flight to Brussels so it saves my sanity. DH reads it alongside the Times and any other newspaper that might me his way except for the Guardian to my fathers great disappointment he is quite intelligent though so I think he takes it all with a pinch of salt. Hmm

Right, nearly all packed up, beef pot roast in the oven just need to dry hair and bath babies

Evilwater · 24/02/2013 14:13

Pikz- as I told the receptionist, it's no ones bees wax! The way I feed my child, is my Business an no one else! Angry besides if they feel that strongly, perhapes they could try and BF, and see how difficult it is!
The high horse fuckers!!! Angry

Evil

horseylady · 24/02/2013 14:19

pikz that feeling passes. I promise you.

pass me too wrt sleep!!

MissMummy1 · 24/02/2013 14:39

Fuckety fuck. I thought my MOT was up at end of March. Just double checked and it's the 8th. And as dp is offshore then it will need to be done the week before. Which is next sodding week Angry . Sorry to revert this thread back to car chat - they are the bain of my life! - but we still havent decided what to replace it with when it inevitably fails drastically. DP decided he wants to buy at a car auction Hmm I'm past arguing and I've to give him a list of things I'd be prepared to drive that doesnt include the lovely 308 sitting at the dealership down the road Sad . We will also need it replaced almost immediately hence testing before MOT is up, although we may be able to use my mums corsa for a week or two if need be. (I think she has just about forgiven me for crashing it 4 years ago...)

My thoughts so far are Seat Altea, VW Golf estate, Peugeot 308 or a Toyota Auris. Does anyone own/have any experience of any of these cars? We've ruled out anything smaller after trying out a few city cars. Needs to be big enough for baby/kid stuff (probs be keeping it for at least 3 yrs), the dog (poss 2 dogs as another puppy is on the agenda in the next couple of years) and 2 lots of dive kit. Also we dont know if it will be our only family car or if I will fall heir to it when/if dp gets a company car.

Any advice much appreciated! Or other suggestions. DP is very anti ford/vauxhall/kia/hyundai Angry . And sorry again for going off topic. Again Blush

MissMummy1 · 24/02/2013 14:41

Of course the shit-roen might do us proud and last another year. Given it was a temp replacement to 'last a few weeks' when I wrote my peugeot off last april, I doubt it Sad
