I've hired someone to get all our babies to sleep while we go get sloshed in the corner

OP posts:

KillashandraRee · 04/09/2013 07:51

Oh Engels Hmm. We should have a crap DH support thread! My DH isn't depressed, but he is so stressed about work that I think he clams up at the idea of another baby as in his head it would be now rather than in 9 (10!) months time. The worst thing is I know if we don't crack on now the baby will end up coming mid summer in our busiest time and that will be EVEN more stressful!
On another note I think E must be teething again, he has developed a delightful whine..... Confused Men!

sassy34264 · 04/09/2013 09:59

Hi.

Been a bit awol!

Didn't have the internet for the 1st month and then just been trying to keep off mumsnet as it has a way of losing hours- but slowly starting to get sucked back in. Grin

House is great, i love it. Had loads of fun in the garden although it is techinically another room to tidy found a fantastic park around the corner, had bbq's, been to the beach, walks in the woods etc.

However had loads of troubles with dp what's new . We split up for 4 days before we even moved in. Hmm it's still rocky but seems better, it does seem to be 2 steps forward and 8 back. Sad
only time will tell.

Anyway, hope everyone is well and the kiddies too. Mine have started nursery for 5 mornings a week this week. and if one more person asks me what am i going to do with my time- i may shoot them!

i am not an earth mother. i am not crying at the thought of being without them for a few hours a day. I am gleeful!!!! Grin i have hobbies and a life of my own thank you.

E is coming on leaps and bounds. She has told me she loves me without me saying it first, and this morning she said to me 'you're funny' bless

Both the twins are potty trained since we got here. It felt like it would never happen, but dp brought in the idea of sweet rewards and hey presto by the 3rd day of treats, they had it.

I got my way with regards to the tv and we have now not had one since june 1st. I thought it would free up loads of time to do things, and it did at 1st, but now there just seems to be too many things to do. Smile

I did keep up to a point, but fell behind ages ago. Anyone want to do a quick summary for me please. thank you. Also i can see a namechange, or maybe a newbie?

Engelsemama · 04/09/2013 21:15

sassy ! Lovely to 'see' you! I'm off to bed now after a lovely night out in the garden catching up with a friend over a bottle of wine. Work tomorrow Sad but then my 4 day weekend Smile Promise will catch up properly then! x

KillashandraRee · 04/09/2013 22:27

Sassy I name changed! LP that was x
Lovely to see you again sorry things are tough with DP. New house sounds fab

strawberrypenguin · 04/09/2013 22:32

Hi sassy nice to 'see' you Smile yay for the twins potty training that's great. New house sounds lovely does it feel real yet? Took a while after we moved for me to believe it! Sorry things have been tough with DP hope they get better for you.

PenelopeLane · 05/09/2013 02:10

Welcome back Sassy! Sorry to hear things are rough with your DP.

Am interested in how the no TV is going, and am quite impressed - although TBH the internet is my bigger vice!

I hit 36 weeks today and am actually feeling quite good on account of A still going to creche a couple of days a week and being able to sleep until noon yesterday Grin So am clearly also a fan of having children in nursery sometimes as well. Funnily I have also been asked what I do when he's there as well now I'm at home myself, but the answer is pretty dull - sleep, blob, and obsessively wash newborn clothes!

Engelsemama · 08/09/2013 10:21

Okay, took me a bit longer to catch up than I thought!

Sorry to hear things have been difficult with DP. (((hugs)))

No tv sounds bliss. As does a child free morning!

Perhaps better to give you a summary of my summer - if I try to do everyone else I'll just get mixed up!

Awesome trip to NZ in July.
Ttc#2 but no luck so far partly because. ..
DH not doing well with depression, has been off work for a few weeks
M has a weird growth on his tongue but hospital said don't worry
M jabbering away in both languages, but still mostly single words here

That's me!

Have just been out for a run in pouring rain. Now relaxing with mn, thinking about what to get M for his birthday. What is everyone else getting? He has so much already. What's your DC's favourite toy atm? M loves his sound bus and has been dragging his cuddly dog everywhere.

strawberrypenguin · 08/09/2013 19:52

I'm actually organised this year eng and have already done W's birthday presents - he's the end of Oct. too! We've got him a Postman Pat and Jess in Pats van, Postman Pat PJ's (see a theme Smile) and a set of Harry and his bucketful of Dinosaurs books. I've also got a set of plastic Night Garden figures to go on his cake so he can have those as an extra present too. That's it from us as he will be spoilt by his GPs.

Anyone else's hit the terrible twos early? W has really been testing his boundaries this week esp. when tired. Tonight he even hit me when I went to take him up for bath, I did get a sorry and hug after but still! He'd been bloody lovely all day too. He's also got jealous of the cat when she comes to say hello to me and keeps trying to push her away. I tell him no every time but he keeps doing it, poor puss.

MrsHende · 08/09/2013 21:50

Oh my, straw, I get hit most days! Today was worse than usual because she never said sorry, normally she does. For the past 3 months or so she's been like a teenager from about 5.30pm till bedtime. Not every night, but many nights!!

(Other than that she is a joy!) She's having a sleepover at my in laws tonight and I miss her terribly. My MIL looks after her every other Monday and she's not a morning person so would rather have her at their house so FIL can get up to her in the morning and MIL doesn't have to rush out at 7.15am to get to ours for 8 am for me to leave for work. I'm not very fond of her sleeping away so often but I feel that I need to pick my battles with MIL. It would be nice if she ever took her on a Friday or Saturday night and we could get a lie in but no, only Sundays. And she acts like she's doing us a massive favour by giving us the evening to ourselves when we have that from 7pm anyway! And we have to go for Sunday dinner so it's not like we get to go out for tea or anything!!

Anyway, totally didn't mean to come on here and rant!

How's everyone? Good weekends?

Sassy, lovely to hear from you, glad the house is going well!

Engels, how's DH this weekend?

Killa, when are you testing this month? Feel like there is a chance of a BFP? I can't keep up with the Sept BFP bus, goes way too fast!

KillashandraRee · 09/09/2013 14:54

Strawb - we've suddenly entered the hitting zone too just this weekend! Not sure what to do with it but ow he can hurt!

MrsH practically no chance of a BFP as DH managed to go off the idea of sex during my fertile week (sensing a theme here?!) I had what I thought were period pains yesterday but no AF yet so just going to wait it out. AF could come any day between now and Friday as my cycle seems out of whack.

Are you testing? When is BFP due?

And I definitely can't keep up with the September TTC bus either it gives me a headache! Think I'm going to stay away until have BFP then might consider joining another bus...or might just stay here where I'm comfy!

Engelsemama · 09/09/2013 19:11

Mrs H rant away!

M doesn't usually hit but has taken to grabbing anything left on the coffee table (plates, glasses, remote controls) and shouting "No!" at the top of his voice while running away at high speed (that boy can move !).

Hoping to try again this month, though am consoling myself at the thought that if I'm not pg I can still do my 15k hill race in Nov. Though going off the pill is already turning me into a gibbering hormonal wreck with terrible acne. It's only a matter of time before one of my students or colleagues asks me what's 'wrong with my face' (one of my 'favourite' memories of ttc last time round Sad ).

had a look at that thread killa and mrsh and it looked scary! I'm much more comfortable sticking with you lot!

DH not doing great. Went back to work for a half day today and they've been messing him around again. It's like they want him to have a breakdown I know he's worried about hospital appt tomorrow as well.

PenelopeLane · 09/09/2013 21:43

strawb we've had more hitting too! He knows it's naughty, and a hit will often be followed by him saying "no hitting!", but it's like he needs to try again every few days to check that it's still dirty. I also got a bite on my leg that broke skin a couple of weeks ago, ow.

I can empathise on the hormones engels! On the weekend I watched th Katy Perry movie and got teary when her and Russel Brand broke up Grin I also cried in Lion King last month. Sigh.

I finally have a bump pic to post now so will post that - am now at the size where strangers give me little smiles as I waddle around.

KillashandraRee · 10/09/2013 13:19

Aw Pen I love that bit of being pregnant.

Was fairly sure AF was on way and decided this afternoon to POAS in case it would make AF come so we could then move on quickly to TTC again next month (random logic I know but AF always seems to appear just after I POAS)

I have the faintest of faintest pink lines. Have posted pic on my profile can anyone else see it or is it just me?

Can't believe it if I am Shock

strawberrypenguin · 10/09/2013 15:23

Oooh exciting killa can't check because I'm on my phone but fx for you. Go get a digital? Seems more real in words somehow.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 10/09/2013 17:06

I can see a line!!!

Looks like a + to me killa!!!

KillashandraRee · 10/09/2013 17:30

Waiting for DH to come home so he can freak out GrinGrin

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 10/09/2013 17:42

Good luck with that!!! Haha Grin

Engelsemama · 10/09/2013 17:43

Shock how exciting!

MrsHende · 10/09/2013 21:22

Oh Killa! That's brilliant!

Now, send me some pink line luck!! AF due today i think, no sign of it though but a BFN this morning with a cheap test but I'm not certain of my cycle...so, all in all I'm holding off testing for another few days (well, trying to) and crossing everything!

We've put an offer in on a lovely flat today so I need house hunting luck too.

CheshireDing · 10/09/2013 21:50

I have investigated the picture on my laptop and with limited view I would that is DEFINITELY a line Killa Congratulations :)

Fx for the house offer too MrsH

Hello Sassy Grin

Will post properly later.

PenelopeLane · 11/09/2013 00:55

That's exciting re the line! I had such a faint one this time the first day I tested the due before AF was due I wasn't sure if it was a trick of the light.

I wish that medical science would invent two things: 1 that could tell you as soon as you were pregnant to save the waiting, and another that could predict the exact time and date of labour Grin

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 11/09/2013 20:05

Hello all! Feel like I've been absent for a bit. Still been reading though so ill attempt a bit of a catch up.

Sassy, great to hear from you again. Sorry things have been a bit tough but hopefully it's getting better Thanks
Pen, can't believe you have so little time left till baby is here!

Good luck to all ladies ttc, wish it was me haha! Been having lots of snuggles with friends new baby and its making me so broody Shock

Things with us are good although S is def going through a 'trying' period. Some days I feel like I'm at my wits end with her. She seems to be on the verge of dropping her afternoon nap, but can't quite manage a full day yet without turning into a crazy monster Confused. Last weekend she went without but by 4pm she was being so so naughty and then typically fell asleep in the car at 6pm on way home from visiting my gran, but getting her to have a nap is becoming a screaming match and its meaning shes not falling asleep till much later at night now. I've tried cutting her nap down to 1 hour and even just 45 mins today but she's still up to all hours at night now. She's been in her bed tonight since 7pm yet is still chatting away to herself. We have a busy day planned for tomorrow so might just skip the nap again and aim to be home, pjs and bed by 7. I didn't expect the nap to be done with before she's even 2! Anyone else the same?

I finally managed to get a job! Feels like I've been unemployed for so long now. I'm heading back into preschool nurseries for my local council but only as supply so who knows what work ill get. Also got all my open uni stuff through the door today. Everything comes at once!!!

Hope everyone is well Smile

MrsHende · 12/09/2013 00:28

We got the flat!!!! Woo hoo!!

PenelopeLane · 12/09/2013 02:25

Duck and Mrs great news for both of you!

A is really trying some days too duck, it's like some days he's sweetness and light, and then the next he's a right little monkey who will spend an entire day pushing boundaries. It's never big things, just lots of little things that have the cumulative effect of driving me mad - the odd hit, standing on his chair (which he knows he isn't allowed to do), toy throwing, refusing to put on shoes etc

He's still napping in the day, but waking much earlier than he used to and staying up later - he used to be 7.30 - 7 ish, but now it's more like 8 - 5.30/6. I think we'll have to choose soon between what is more important, having an evening, or him having a day sleep. At this stage I favour the day nap though, as when he naps, I do too!

strawberrypenguin · 12/09/2013 07:12

Congrats on the job duck

Yay for the flat MrsH

W is thinking about dropping his nap but can't actually make it past 4 without a major meltdown followed by him crashing out. So I try and get him to have one after lunch and most of the time it works! He still naps at nursery too.
