I've hired someone to get all our babies to sleep while we go get sloshed in the corner

DS was pretty normal today :)

I've started going to a women's only badminton while DH takes the DCs to tumbletots. One advantage of working from home. Also did my run today. Needed it though, I've been a right grumpy mare.

mummy glad to hear they are getting heating sorted.

I'm good but kids seem to be having a bad run of sickness/viruses/colds etc which I'm getting a bit sick of.

Mhairi is starting to copy sounds very vaguely she still doesn't have many words though, all the usual mama dada nana etc but no real words as yet, her favourite word is yum yum which is convenient as her favourite pastime is eating lol

She now weighs roughly 26lbs although I haven't measured her height in a long time.
Congratulations to those expecting again, I did find I showed a lot quicker with mhairi than I did with Christopher I think it's maybe because the muscles are looser/weakened second time round.

Are all the babies sleeping through now? Mhairi still wakes at around 12pm each night and I do still give her a bottle of milk but thinking maybe I should stop soon

A's new word is ice-block, usually said in demanding tone while pointing at freezer. I heard that oldest children are more likely to speak sooner than later children - is that true in the cases of any of you with more DCs?

pene that's my experience C was saying much much more than M at this age, but I think that's because he had/has a lot more concentration than M so he got a good vocabulary early on from sitting with me reading books and doing picture puzzles but M won't sit with me for a whole minute never mind to read a book :(
She is much more physical than C though and was walking/climbing etc earlier than he was.

Eva woke me up 2am sat morn. Crying and covered in a rash. Another trip to emergency docs- my 3rd weekend in a row. i'll be needing a season ticket!

Apparently it is a common reaction to the amoxicillian she was on for the tonsillitis. The penicillin treats the bacterial infection, but if the have a viral infection at the same time it can cause this rash. She said amoxicillian isn't a good one to treat tonsillitis- why did the doc give it me then!

strawb keeping my fingers crossed for you re: job interview. Hope W is doing okay with the dreaded pox. I was watching that brain doctor?s programme the other day too. I had to switch off after half an hour because I was finding it so upsetting with the little girl who was going to have further treatment and it was past my bedtime I have turned into a gibbering wreck now with anything to do with toddlers and babies.

pen we are getting things priced up right now and it is slightly terrifying how much it?s going to cost! We?re thinking of trying to book more of the accommodation later ourselves or when we?re there to give us more flexibility to try and find some better accommodation deals. The amount is slowly creeping up and up. Soon we?ll be on the same amount it cost me to travel round South America, NZ and Oz for 6 months! with perhaps slightly higher standards for accommodation since I was a 25 year old single backpacker So do you have a EDD now?

Have just woken up to snow again. Still falling too. Very pretty but I?ve had enough already! I?m ready for spring! Am watching gardening programme on bbc2 to transport me away from winter.

Had a lovely night out with 2 of my friends Friday ? meal and a film ? then got home late to find DH still up to tell me that M had thrown up twice big style. This carried on throughout yesterday but he now hasn?t thrown up since late afternoon yesterday so fx he?s over it. He was very un-M yesterday afternoon ? wanting to sit still on the sofa with us. His little belly is so much flatter after 24 hours of cracker/water/barf.

M has a few words ? mama, papa, happen ( dutch for ? take a bite, i.e. food!!!) and hello. He sometimes tries bits of words, like nana for banana and he tries to say bye bye, but it sounds more like pie pie!

M says ba ba (for bye bye) I'm sure M knows what she's saying most of the time it's just that no one else does lol

we cracked open the antihistamines yesterday, not sure if they helped with the sleep or not, certainly didn't knock him out. We seemed to have had a reprieve while he is was ill (probably too tired to scratch which does most of the damage)

oh I watched the brain doctors, I was fine until they pulled the skin back over the face, that surprised me for some reason.

Think I need that eng! Poor little thing is covered in spots and grumpy

climbing that 'face being pulled up op' was the one W had! But he had a different suture fused although his 'face' will still have been pulled down like that. Glad I didn't see it before hand!

I bet you are. I guess 'knowing' and visually knowing are different things. I still can't imagine what it must have been like for you to go through.

A says 'hello' for goodbye, as well as hello. I'm trying to teach him goodbye, but it's not working. Yesterday was so cute, we were walking along the waterfront and watching people jump off the wharf into the water, and A was mesmerized, and kept saying "uh oh down" whenever anyone jumped while pointing wildly.

Engels I know what you mean about price - our week in Australia is looking to cost the same as a big trip we did around China in 2010, which had airfares that cost over double these ones. My EDD is 1 Oct! My EDD with A was 29 Sept, so 2 days later. I am getting real dejavu feeling the same way at the same time as year. It does feel a bit different this time, not only because I have a massive belly already. I am looking forward to telling people at 12 weeks as am getting funny looks at work probably because I am eating 3 packets of crisps some days

I'm the same, things I never felt funny about before I get all squeamish about now.

Pen, what will you actually do if they have the same birthday?! How funny would that be! My original due date with S was my birthday, then it was changed to day of my brothers wedding (1 week earlier) then changed again to the day after, and she was born the night before the wedding!

My friend who had her baby 10 weeks early is doing great! He is now up to 3lbs7 and getting bigger every day. Hasn't been on oxygen etc for over a week now, just feeding tube as he can't quite suck yet. They are giving him a dummy to try encourage him as the hospital have basically said that once he can suck from bottle, he can get home. I'm amazed!

We've decided to go ahead and book flight/car hire/interislander and our nights in Christchurch and Wellington but leave all other accommodation for now so we a) have a bit more freedom b) can look for some cheaper places - we don't have to stay in an "amazing" hotel every night. As long as it's clean and has a bathroom we're happy

M is still unwell - he only threw up once yesterday but still has diarrhea and after being sparky for an hour goes a bit lethargic again and wants to lie down or snuggle with me - very unlike him. DH is worried and thinks we should take him to GP but I think he just needs to get it out of his system. He';s drinking lots and is starting to eat more normally (has had normal brekkie and lunch today). He doesn't have a temperature. MN expert opinions?

Is he drinking non water, you could go and buy some dioralyte as dehydration is the thing to watch out for (speaking from the experience of last week). The fact he is being sparky is good, but he gets more lethargic, stops looking around/interacting then keep an eye out. If he drinks some dioralyte then the gp can't say go home and try that.

Not sure if you are still bf'ing, but I think it is what kept DS out of hospital last week.

Just DS was drinking lots of water, but it wasn't enough, he needed the sugar and salts too and was sleeping through bf's.

he's not just drinking water - has had some squash as well. DH tried to give him some very light stock/soup but let it cool so much M wouldn't drink it. The he asked me to try it. It was vile! DH had in his wisdom but some juice in it as well to try to balance the taste - no wonder M wouldn't drink it!

Seems like everything's goign through him quite quickly - have just changed him again as he pooed while in highchair and it all seeped out the sides as it's so watery. But he seems all sparky again now.

Just have to decide if he's going to be able to go to nursery tomorrow, and if not then who's going to stay at home (chances are it'll be me again - DH work can be funny soemtimes whereas mine seem more understanding...plus my HT loves me at the moment )

Could ask MIL but don't want to make her and FIL ill (they're late 60s/early 70s), plus she'd have to keep carrying him up and down stairs to change him as she can't do it on living room floor like we do.
