Just quick as will update proper later but I got an interview for a new job!!! Honestly, I've been going mad looking for something so was glad when I looked through my emails and seen this today Grin

Engelsemama · 14/08/2013 19:45

Great news duck !

MrsHende · 14/08/2013 19:52

Yay Mummy! Good for you! It's so hard being on the job hunt, everything crossed for you!

Killa, I'm due on the 16th, well, I think I am, have a crazy cycle. Let us know how you get on! I bought millions of tesco cheapie tests last week, hoping that I'll only need the one...

Back to work tomorrow Confused. Spending this evening ironing work clothes, making sticky labels for jotters (14 children in the class and 12 books each, I don't want to do that maths and work out how many labels I need to make!), and generally sorting things out for a smooth start to the term. Boo!

CheshireDing · 15/08/2013 20:47

Have you done the test Killa ?

I'm sorry but is radio 2 not for "older" people Grin ?

Buns went well thanks ladies, sent our Aussie friend home with his ANZAC biscuits too and with P saying "bye bye Richard" for about an hour after he had gone anyway !

Strawbs is W feeling better now? I hope so, poor guy :(

Nursery have said she might be moving up to the Early Learners Room soon with a couple of her friends. We got her term report this week and she is average for everything else but her talking is advance (proud Mummy that my constant whitterings work). I sort of don't want her to move up a class though, she is so tiny and little and it all seems to be going so fast :(

Glad I don't have to do your washing MrsH :) How can you be back at work, haven't you just finished?

Fx for you for the interview Mummy

Am very excited that The Great British Bake Off starts again next week (maybe I should be listening to radio 2)

Can't comment on monitors Tally except I wish we had bought one for the reasons you say but the one we would have got was £160 so we decided it was too expensive. Our noise monitor is the Tomy (dome type) and we bought extra sensor pads new on ebay and amazon so you could have a look on there for a screen that is compatible with yours?

TallyBear · 15/08/2013 22:16

Just ordered a lindam video monitor, £150 down to £70. They go for about £50 on ebay, and at least this way I've got a warranty if it all goes tits-up. The one I really liked I can't get for less than £100, which seems excessive.

Also going to order one of these I think. Seb is getting quite tall now and I don't want him to pull things off. He knows to avoid the oven door, he knows 'hot'. Whenever we have a cup he says 'hot tea' Grin.

Engles hope you guys had a lovely anniversary meal.

Mummy well done, hope it goes OK.

KillashandraRee · 15/08/2013 22:20

Negative Hmm and about two hours after taking it my period arrived as if by magic...grr!

Only positive is DH was disappointed so he's finally realised we need to actively try and we're now on the same page so maybe we'll be lucky soon.

strawberrypenguin · 15/08/2013 22:22

Yeah he's feeling better now chesh thanks.
W has just started his familiarisation trips to the next group at nursery too, which we're quite pleased about because his best friend moved up a couple of weeks ago and he really misses her plus he is by far the oldest in his current group and is lacking a bit in peer stimulation there but after a trip to the next group his language use picks up loads.

fx for you killa

Good luck for the job duck hope you get it job hunting is a real bitch I've been looking for something else for a year now and still not managed it!

Oh and yes excited about Bake Off too (not that I can really bake, muffins are about my limit!)

KillashandraRee · 15/08/2013 22:24

Duck great news on job.

MrsH fingers crossed for you x hope going back to work isn't too horrific.

Cheshire I love ANZAC biscuits yum!

Tally that guard looks great, it might also stop the dog stealing my bread when it comes out of the machine!

KillashandraRee · 15/08/2013 22:26

X post strawberry. E has same at his nursery half the class have moved up since July it's a little spooky only having about three or four of them in there when I drop him off.

We've also noticed a difference on vocabulary etc from nursery. Does W say words that you never say? E does nee naw for any police car/ ambulance etc but we never use it so I assume its nursery...

TallyBear · 15/08/2013 22:30

Oo, yeah, can't wait for the Bake Off to start too...Love it!

MrsHende · 15/08/2013 22:55

Arghhhhh! Work has broken me. Hideous day...fingers crossed I find it more bearable tomorrow. Chesh, I finished at the end of June (Scottish holidays are earlier), but yes, it feels like I only just finished!

Killa, that's rotten but I'm glad DH is now on board. Fingers crossed for next month. Testing tomorrow here but not too hopeful.

Yes to L saying things I never say - or in her case sings songs I've never sung to her! She was singing the same song over and over a few weeks back and I had no idea what it was and finally worked out it was 'Peter pointer, Peter pointer, where are you?', she was delighted when I joined in!

So looking forward to the Bake Off too!

Engelsemama · 16/08/2013 06:34

Sorry to hear that killa.

Cancelled meal in end as dh now ill as well. Rescheduled I t for next weekend. What's the point of an ex Pl ensive meal if you can't taste it?!

Mrsh I feel your pain! I'm back to school today and feeling very unprepared!

Chesh I listen to r2 (but draw the line at wogan...he definitely makes me switch off!)

PenelopeLane · 16/08/2013 07:31

I notice different things from nursery as well, the most notable being 'ta' which we don't really say. There is also the odd song he'll sing with actions and I have no idea what he's singing about or doing!

Chesh did you bake the ANZAC biscuits? I really must learn how ...

duck good luck for the interview!

engels shame you missed out on your dinner out!

We had another big quake today - 6.6, so bigger than the last one. It was ok as nothing broke at home and I was with A. So glad I was home though as public transport stopped and had I been at work it would have been a 5km uphill walk home. Yuck. At 33 weeks I can barely manage a 30 min walk, so it would have been terrible luck. We keep having aftershocks and A has now learnt to yell "Earthquake" and to run under the door. He doesn't seem to understand that you don't need to take your toys with you though!

strawberrypenguin · 16/08/2013 12:14

Oops sorry killa at least your DH is on board now, hope it happens for you soon - you too mrsH

I think I might see if I can persuade DH into trying for no. 2 next year, financially it should be do-able then and I've got to the stage where I think I would like a second if he doesn't want to though I think I would be ok with that too.

Yes W learns new things at nursery most noticeable are people's names but he's also learnt some songs and sits sometimes bumping his hands together saying 'bobbles, clap clap' and gives me a big grin when I work out he's singing wind the bobbin up and join in!

Engelsemama · 16/08/2013 19:44

Glad you're okay pen.

Had a reasonable 1st day back until annoying email just before I left. Grrrr...it's given me the rage!

M is being super clingy...it's like he's just realised that I can leave him. He's also fighting me during nappy changes and making a huge fuss at bedtime. It's like someone swapped my child!

Went back to school to find that 4 of my colleagues are pregnant so feeling SUPER broody now!

MrsHende · 16/08/2013 20:14

I heard about the earthquake on the radio this morning and thought of you pene, glad you are all ok.

BFN this morning then AF arrived this afternoon. Hmm Consoling myself with a glass of red wine and some chocolate.

Hope you all have some nice plans for the weekend! DH is taking Lizzie swimming tomorrow and on Sunday we're going to look at a house we have noted interest in.

CheshireDing · 16/08/2013 21:00

Yes I baked them Pene someone on mumsnet send me a link, I have made them with the coconut and then when I ran out just as oaty biscuits and dipped one end in chocolate. I love them and so easy (and filling). Glad you're all ok after the quake.

P says random things too that she gets from nursery as we know we haven't said them and she comes home with French plaits Grin.

Sorry about the negative tests results Killa and MrsH :(

Super clingy and terrible at bedtime here too Engles and tonight P learnt how to get out of the cot (having never bothered before), am now baffled how I am supposed to deal with that !

CheshireDing · 16/08/2013 21:00

Good luck with the house too MrsH

strawberrypenguin · 16/08/2013 21:44

Time for a bed maybe chesh! Glad W hasn't figured that one out yet!

Think W just had a bad dream, he woke up crying and was inconsolable had to have a cuddle for half an hour before he asked to go back to bed. Nothing apparently wrong so I'm guessing dream.

Good luck house hunting MrsH and sorry about the neg result.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 16/08/2013 21:52

Sorry about test results killa and mrsh (good luck with house!)

S has been hitting out with some random words, she's only with me or my parents so I'm confused as to where she is hearing them Grin. Other day she called something 'gorgeous'. This isn't a word I ever use in every day life! She's getting frustrated at times to when she's babbling on for ages trying in all seriousness to tell me something and I can't work it out. I try all options that I think she is saying but she just gets all worked up that I don't respond in the way she wants.

Thanks for good lucks with interview. It's a few weeks away yet so I have plenty time to prepare. It's only supply work with my local councils pre school nurseries. Hoping though that it might lead on if a job comes up.

Oh and update on the 'dad' situation. He's put money in my bank the past 2 weeks now so looking good so far. I'm still undecided on if I should meet up with him before her birthday or wait and see if he acknowledges it first

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 16/08/2013 21:54

Oh and yes, maybe home for a bed chesh! S has taken to hers so well! Although last night was funny. I put her to bed and went in to check about 45 mins later as all was quiet. She had fallen asleep kneeling on the floor with her head rested on mattress Grin. So cute and very funny at the same time!

TallyBear · 16/08/2013 22:19

Sorry about the negs, MrsH and Killa

Engles and Ches Seb is going through a clingy stage too.

Straw Aw...

Seb's finally getting the hang of colours and numbers. For a while everything was red (re') and 3. Then everything was yellow (lello), but he is now getting other colours too. We count the stairs on the way down and he's not big on the smaller numbers but says something that sounds very much like eleven, twelve and fourteen (not necessarily on the right step though).

KillashandraRee · 16/08/2013 22:30

MrsH we can drink wine together and test again next month as we our cycles seem to be in sync! Wink

Strawberry "bobbles clap clap" is the cutest!

Tally we had all numbers as nine and a recent addition of two so now we have a chant of nine nine two nine nine as infinitum!

Mummy I must have missed S moving into a bed, does she get out in the middle of the night? Great news about the money from her dad.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 16/08/2013 23:52

Killa- I had a moment of madness last month and took the side off her cot just to try. Figured if it all went tits up I could just put it back on Grin but so far so good! A friend is passing me on a toddler bed but for now, it's still her cot. I have one of those guard rails on just to stop her falling out but it still leaves a gap that she can get in and out herself. I figured I could use the warmer weather to get her used to a duvet rather than gro bag in that if she kicked them off through the night she would still be warm enough. She's getting better at it. A few times I've went in now and she's managed to tuck the duvet under her arms (sleeps on her tummy). I've also been putting her in a vest and sleepsuit at night so I know she is 'covered'

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 16/08/2013 23:55

She did get out the first night twice but I think it was the novelty thing. She's not really bothered apart from that, although there was one night that she must have been sleeping right against the rail and it fell off her bed taking her and mattress with it Shock. She came through to my room saying 'oh no mummy, my bed all broken'. I was like 'back to bed S, nice try!' till I realized what had happened Grin. She was fine, sounds worse than it was!!
