If it feels right for you I think you should do it eng you have to happy too and a good work/home balance is a big part of that.

CheshireDing · 07/06/2013 19:47

Ooh enjoy the school prom Engels :)

I think you should increase your hours too - you are probably more likely to get more marking done in your half day at school than at home too I would have thought - I am dead efficient at work and then arse about at home Grin. P does nursery 4 days a week and Granny on a Friday and I certainly don't think it's too much for her at nursery. I think she really enjoys and benefits from it.

That's the thing Strawbs it's the constant hospital appointments and waiting, I honestly don't know how you did it with W. I really feel for you.

Hope you feel slightly perkier today Tally.

We found a clinic in Manchester who said we were not too late for CVS so we have just had that done (for a hefty fee) and get the results Monday. Cross your fingers for the little critter ladies.

strawberrypenguin · 07/06/2013 20:45

Ooh that's good chesh fingers crossed here x

tally hope you're feeling better today.

ClimbingPenguin · 07/06/2013 20:55

Glad the private option is working out chesh

I've been thinking recently about the work hours thing actually and am glad I am working full time. I have done a few three day weeks as I had stuff planned already and was amazed at how much less u got done and how I felt about that. Seems the part timers have the worse of both fields. I do have a job that u switch off from and admittedly only been there two months. The transition to work has been really smooth and is much easier than being at home with both if them. I was burnt out with them tbh. Now I make a real effort with the time we have together. I did make sure j took on a job that would allow me the work life balance j want and have line managers u felt I could communicate easily with.

DS is doing well at nursery and typically they do 7 hours a day with once a week being a longer day

PenelopeLane · 08/06/2013 00:02

Fingers crossed for you Chesh!

There have been some weeks recently when I've had to but A in nursery on my day at home with him due to things at work that I can't miss, and was surprised how happy he seemed there. I find it's true what climbing said about having more energy.

We are keeping A in nursery 2 days a week when I have the baby which I hope works alright. It's expensive and a bit inconvenient but I like the idea of being able to recharge my batteries and having more energy for him, as well as spending time with the new baby.

Do any of you meet people that are really against kids in nurseries? I do and find it quite annoying.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 08/06/2013 20:18

Just popping in to hope that everyone is enjoying this lovely weather!!! I'm home and will proper catch up tomorrow Smile

PenelopeLane · 09/06/2013 09:53

I have to share something that happened this morning!

Things you never expect to find in a toddler's nappy: one peanut butter container lid. Especially as it was the night nappy, so hadn't been changed in 12 hours. AND A still slept soundly in spite of the lid leaving a massive red indent on his butt.

DH and I are scratching our heads about it, esp as he was also wearing a onesey with it that clipped under his crotch so had probably been put there by him last night.

TallyBear · 09/06/2013 20:43

Lol Pene This parenthood thing really is a learning journey all the way!

strawberrypenguin · 09/06/2013 20:54

That's impressive pen Grin

Engelsemama · 10/06/2013 13:58

Hmm...well, nursery only had room for M for half of the school year. Always the chance a place will come up but working in a school I can't risk it if one doesn't. Asked MIL if she would have M a day a week and she said no which I completely understand at her age and with her health recently.

So I will have to turn down the extra hours and stay at 3 days for now. The only other option wld be to find another nursery but dont want to gave M in 2 places and right now, going across the street is just so easy.

Maybe inn the long run it's for the best. I just have to get better at asking for help when I need it during term time, set up my office in the loft so I go and work in the evening and try and be more active on the days I'm at home . Sometimes I end up moping around at home...not getting any schoolwork done, not having any fun with M. So today I took him to the zoo and it was great!

strawberrypenguin · 10/06/2013 18:07

That's a shame about the hours eng zoo sounds fab though must take W soon.

Thinking of you chesh hope you had good news today

CheshireDing · 10/06/2013 19:46

Yeh!!! It's good news, phew! They rang us this evening and the little critter doesn't have Downs :)

:( about the extra hours Engels

Am VERY impressed with sleeping with a peanut butter lid stuck to his bum Pene Grin

MrsHende · 10/06/2013 19:58

PenelopeLane · 10/06/2013 21:31

That's fab news Chesh

strawberrypenguin · 10/06/2013 22:29

That's great chesh really pleased Smile

ipswichwitch · 11/06/2013 20:58

I'm so pleased you got good news chesh, must be a weight off your mind, especially after they got you so worried.

A peanut butter lid??!!??!! Shock a few weeks ago I found a load of glitter in N's nappy - he'd been making stuff at nursery so although slightly random, it wasn't at all head scratchy unlike A's nappy!

I had my scan today, and all is well so far. Little wriggler is 13wks and I'm due 14th dec. waiting now for the combined Downs test results - if I haven't heard in the next 3 days its good news so fingers x. It was a huge relief to see the little one. I asked the midwife why my belly is so big - I haven't been hitting the sweets any more than usual - and she says it early pregnancy bloating! Great, I feel so attractive now!

LittlePebble · 11/06/2013 21:17

Cheshire yay so pleased its good news! Grin

Ipswitch great to have your scan too so exciting all these new babies Envy

Pen....peanut butter lid is impressive!

PenelopeLane · 12/06/2013 11:08

Ips that's great news!

I am 24 weeks and starting to slow down a bit now. Almost felt a bit of a waddle coming on today as well. Let's hope it was just a bad day as it feels too early to be waddling!

strawberrypenguin · 12/06/2013 15:55

That's great ips Smile

Wow pen 24 ALS already! That's gone fast (or it seems like it from here anyway!)

CheshireDing · 12/06/2013 19:59

Yeh Ips so pleased for you. Glad the scan went all okay. :)

strawberrypenguin · 14/06/2013 19:31

Just piping in quickly to say hope everyone is ok and getting more sleep than I am!

eng (and anyone else who reads fantasy/scifi I recommend 'daughter of smoke and bone' I've just finished it and started straight on the second!

Engelsemama · 15/06/2013 11:49

Thanks for the recommendation strawb . Am looking for something to fill the SOIAF gap while I wait for Martin to write the next book and my kindle needs to be full for my trip to NZ (not that M is likely to give me any time to read!).

Great news ips

Just got back from a info-fair for parents with children under 4. Won a baby book for M (though am thinking he has enough already and may keep to give to someone else as a pressie Blush ). Different stands about swimming/baby music/yoga/sign language. Wish they'd had one last year! Also found out about a mother's cafe they have once a month which sounds nice for meeting new people.

M had an eipc tantrum this morning for no reason at all. I think he was very upset when I left to go out to a play last night. DH said he was running to the window and crying 'Mama!' as I drove away. maybe he thought I was going to leave again today (he doesn't normally make a fuss when I drop him at nursery).

Hope everyone's well. x

ipswichwitch · 15/06/2013 17:05

Thanks ladies :) no news from the hospital so hopefully that's good news. Been out to the park and beach today. N has never been interested in ice cream so me and DH got one, only today he grabbed DHs cone and ate the lot!! Wouldn't even let DH have a lick Grin

N has about 5 molars coming through together, so sleep is not great at the minute, so we're feeling your pain sp! He had a real sob the other morning because I had to get him up and ready for nursery. Kept picking his pj's up and trying to put them on again and get back in his bed :( I felt awful and was in tears myself. He did brighten up when we got to nursery, he loves it there and ran to his favourite carer for a cuddle. It's one of those times I felt like a bad mam for going to work when all I wanted to do was stay home and cuddle him. It's nothing but a guilt trip this parenting lark!
