gt Skin So Soft body wash and body cream from Avon are amazing for keeping bugs away. I used it in Corfu while pregnant and avoided mosquito bites quite nicely. Don't imagine it will keep off the worst that India has to offer, but it might help?

ThankfulBagofPeacefulCats · 16/02/2013 06:06

I have a Chicco video monitor- I bought it for about £40 from the Asda baby sale while we were all pregnant. It is absolutely fantastic. Even has night vision Grin

PurplePidjin · 16/02/2013 06:07

Citronella oil is the one in anti-bug candles, drop of that on a hanky/pulse points?

YellowWellies · 16/02/2013 06:19

Contradiction that does sound like reflux yes.

GT I second using Avon skin so soft body lotion to prevent mozzie bites.

Cat bag we can't get our chicco monitor to work - the base and parent units can't connect - was yours easy to set up?

MissMummy1 · 16/02/2013 06:47

I wanted a chicco monitor from asda baby event. DP splashed out on a £200 monitor for xmas 'from M to her paranoid Mummy' - I didnt want to seem ungrateful but genuinely dont know what this one does that makes it so much better than the asda one Hmm .

Amazing night from the wee woman. 11 - 6 Grin . Before you all start flaming me she was awake and an absolute bugger and slightly irrational all day yesterday. From 4am to 11pm. Confused

Her bloody rash has flared up again. Had narrowed if down to being a polyester allergy but veen careful since only to put her in cotton. Unless its the new sleep pod that was washed in softener weeks ago? FFS she can't be allergic to comfort pure as well?! It's just around her neck this time so that could be it....

I miss martini Envy . Extra dry with lemonade, not the cocktail. Tequila-based cocktails were my downfall trigger for acting like a twat when at uni Blush. I also miss wine. And gin. Envy Envy Envy

MissMummy1 · 16/02/2013 06:56

Bastard debenhams. Filling 100% polyester. Angry

TheDetective · 16/02/2013 07:51

I'm eating my words from last night. Why is it as soon as you say something they bloody go and do the opposite. When I put him down after his feed he woke and started fussing which he bloody doesn't do any other time Angry. Then he woke at 5 and I ended up with him sleeping in my arms. Which means I feel like I have not slept. Hmm

It's sulky Saturday here!

Never saying anything positive again. EVER!

Sophiathecheesefairy · 16/02/2013 08:11

Didn't come on at all yesterday as i drove up to Brum to pick up girls, so have just skim read a lot about poo, vom, mucus and such stuff.

I hope everyone is Ok.

We are slovenly Saturday here. Am taking the girls to the theatre tonight to see Horrible Histories Live and am quite excited.

pp I glimpsed something from you about the hedge end marks meet up but I can't find it again, would you be able to repeat? Sorry.

gt I have heard about the Avon stuff preventing bites. Might be worth a go.

Kyzordz · 16/02/2013 08:16

Morning all! hope everyone got some sleep!

Hope the rash goes down soon mm1, ds gets a dry rash near his ears but bigger knows what it is. Doesn't seem to bother him, it's like dry skin and the odd red dot

We have the chicco monitor too, it's ace, ESP for the price!

Glad your dd is doing better pr, definitely a reason to celebrate with martini!

Ds is still asleep. He usually wakes up for the morning feed, the lazy bugger. I know better than to complain so I shan't, I'll just bung him back into bed I think! He fed at half ten last night, bed by 11 then woke up at 4 for his dummy and 7:30 I woke up cos he kept squiggling so I fed him. He's asleep on my knee pulling sIlly wind faces and I know I won't get any wind from him whilst he's asleep!

Sophiathecheesefairy · 16/02/2013 08:18

mm might be worth trying stopping using the fabric softener completely for a bit see what happens.

Also, please could we see a piccy of the new hair do on fb? Grin am intrigued.

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 16/02/2013 08:31

GT- also try the Avon skin so soft spray oil, I always use it on holiday to avoid bites. It also helps with sunburn.

Kissy- I've just finished watching the 5th season of breaking bad. We watched the whole lot on Netflix, it only took us a month, love it!

sophia- my dd1 would love to see horrible histories live, very jealous!

Dd1 is better today, thank goodness, thought she was never going to get over it. B wasn't sleeping well either, had gone from 9 hours to 3 hours like many of the babies on here. Last night she slept 7pm-3am then 3.30am-7.30am, very happy mummy today Smile

ChunkyChicken · 16/02/2013 08:53

Think that the only way I can do these twice-waking nights again is to just accept it. Forget he did anything else assume he will wake at some Tim between 11pm & 2am and then again between 3am & 6am and just go with the flow. He obviously needs a feed every 3-4hrs again throughout the day & night for whatever reason, so "it will pass"... Not Envy much of the longer sleeping babies like mine used too

ChunkyChicken · 16/02/2013 08:54

^time obviously. Who-tf is Alice Tim??!

ThankfulBagofPeacefulCats · 16/02/2013 08:58

yw It was, but then I left it to geek DH to sort out. Interference from certain things can stop them connecting though- our broadband router occasionally does. Microwaves, stone walls and anything that kicks out a wi-fi signal are renound for blocking the signal on baby monitors. You can change the channel that the units operate on; might be worth turning off all wifi stuff and trying again, and then switching them on one at a time and see what is blocking the signal. Also, double check that the two units are actually tuned to the same channel?

ValiumQueen · 16/02/2013 09:01

J did a 4 hour stretch after his troubles last night. He is coughing a lot so hoping it is just the tail end of the germ.

StuntNun · 16/02/2013 09:29

I haven't even packed nappies for my trip Kirrin! Mum has bought nappies, etc. She was all set to buy bottles and dummies as well, she doesn't realise how expensive they are, I told her I could bring a couple of bottles and a few dummies. I have packed clothes and a few toys, sleeping bags, cool box for bottles so I can take two frozen bottles of ebm in my suitcase. Then there's a snowsuit, creams and medicines and voilà! One full suitcase. I don't need clothes right? I should have not been stingy booked for three suitcases really but I don't think I could fit them in mum's car manage them on my own easily. I'll just have to pack fewer clothes and do a wash while I'm there.

Kyz J is about to go up to 6-9 month clothes as well but it's because he's long in the body (like his dad), he isn't the overall length or weight for them yet. When he went up to 3-6 month clothes it was the bodysuits that he needed first, then the sleepsuits and the outfits still fit him fine. I have the 6-9 month bag down from the loft, can't wait to look through it and say, Oh DS1 and DS2 I remember when you wore this. I'll have to buy a couple of new bits and bobs for J so he isn't in hand-me-downs all the time.

Oh also to Kyz those sit up bath seats with suckers on the bottom are great for when they're 4 months or so. They make bath time much safer until they're starting to stand up when you need a bath mat instead.

Any recommendations on what to do in Stockport for a week? DS1 wants to go to Yo Sushi! (there aren't any in NI) so a trip to the Arndale will be required. The boys asked to go to the Lego Discovery Centre but there's no way I could handle that with a baby in tow and it's waaaay too expensive. I'll probably take then to the transport museum. Could take them to Bramall Hall if we get a good day. Swimming would be an option. Is it half term in England next week as well or has it finished?

It won't be polyester allergy MM, it's that the polyester doesn't breathe so her skin gets affected. I was the same as a baby which was much worse in the 70s as manmade fibres were practically compulsory.

I had a chat with DH last night about all the stuff that's been going on. In his opinion I'm as bad as him but I don't think that's true, I've been trying really hard to keep cool and collected when the boys are playing up and, more importantly, I apologise to then if I do shout at them when I shouldn't have so at least they know I have made a mistake. I don't know if DH took any of it in but at least I made the effort. Unfortunately we had a row this morning when I found the boys watching the Two Towers and freaking out at the bit where all the bodies are in the water and Frodo falls in and gets attacked. So I'm going to hop over to AIBU and probably get flamed.

Whoa 12 hours to catch up with you chatter boxes!!!!

Hope I remember everyone:

detective sympathy for broken fanjo - it's disgraceful you have not been fixed before now!!! Dottie screams blue murder when put in the carseat and until we are upto 50 mph - so roundabouts, traffic lights and general driving round town is out - have been known to take her out and keep looping on the closest bit of a13 just to get her to sleep - awwwww bless your ds1 young love is fickle, yeah 10 is about right for hormonal mood swings, tears and strops!!

vq sorry J seems all phlegmy - hope it clears soon, dd sounds like a cutie!! I more often than not give D her bottle as dh is cack handed and d goes into meltdown while he faffs with position and cushions and stuff.
If you're reluctant to give ff could you try and express twice a day to get a good few ounces to give j in bottle as last feed?? I did this in early days when I had ff guilt and it worked the same - gave her 7/8ozs and she sleeps through!! Sorry if not the advice you wanted x

gt hugs for you xx make lists and get dh to do shop or do it online x

When ds was born for my birthday 2 weeks later I was given a lindam night & day system which was bloody brilliant - they still have them on amazon though not sure if they are kept cool enough????

At our trust the guidelines are to make each bottle as and when required but that's ridiculous if you have a screaming baby at 3am and it takes 20 mins to boil, make and cool a bottle!!!

Minds gone bloody blank now!!!

Well after feeling sooooo much better we went to London to meet my brother and gf, after bf'ing D on the tube from barking to st James park - I got several knowing smiles which was sweet and once we had met in the science museum and she wanted another we went for coffee n cake £20 friggin quid for 2 lattes and 2 carrot cakes and went up the quiet end which seemed to be bf'ing city - made me feel less of an arse!!!

After the museum we went for eats and then on the eye - which as I got on ds threw up on the stairs behind - I didn't know as was hearing dd1 and 2 on then realised ds and dh weren't on with us - poor sod!!! Then we walked over to Trafalgar Square and went round the national gallery until 7.30 pm - Dottie was a little diamond, she had 20 min power naps throughout the day and always woke up smiling and we got her out of the pram lots and she loved people watching!! Walking round the gallery she was in her element soaking up all the admiration from people - she worked it!!! Then we got home and boom 11pm out like a light no fuss transfer!! Fingers x'd my brother doesn't get the lergy!!!

Today's a slovenly Saturday!!!

PetiteRaleuse · 16/02/2013 09:50

Gah I've changed GP as we moved house, and the new one won't renew my stomach meds for more than three months without sending me for a gastroscopy. I had six of the bloody things within days of each other a couple of years ago when I had my problems and was hoping to never have one again. Oh well.

DD1 a lot better today :)

Good night here generally except I couldn't sleep. Got up early and rewatched the episode of Greys. VQ it hasn't been on British TV yet it's the one that came out a couple of days ago in the US. Episode 15 of series 9.

I'm a bit meh about this new season of Dexter. Hopefully will get into it again.

Sounds like you had a lovely day Glenda I am so looking forward to showing off London to the DDs and DH when they're a bit older. And Paris. But I think London is better for children. Will wait a few years though.

Stunt how about the airport? You can go and watch planes. The children might enjoy it. Would you be able to visit one of the football places if they'e interested?

Donnadoon · 16/02/2013 10:16

Yes stunt it's half term here next week

ValiumQueen · 16/02/2013 10:20

glenda I tried expressing but was finding it impossible to do anything else, and I felt the girls were missing out. It is one compromise I was happy to forego as he refused the frozen stuff, and it smelt and tasted fishy so clearly my milk is not right for freezing this time. Besides DH was not happy to give a bottle in the evenings as he had enough to do [confised] and I did not want to give it myself. I feel more positive about formula now, and am quite happy for him to have some, just do not want to affect my supply. I am finding the mixed feeding thread helpful. I am also hoping the formula fills him up a bit more.

PR I think it will be hard to maintain Dexter for much longer. Part of me thinks the church scene should have been the end, as I cannot see how anything beyond that could be credible, not that much of it is though I guess. Did you know he had cancer and wore a wig for a lot of the filming? Earlier season, cannot recall which, but the one with the dodgy hair.

PurplePidjin · 16/02/2013 10:43

Sophia I'll post on fb :) easier to keep track of!

YellowWellies · 16/02/2013 11:05

Cat bag DH says thanks for the tips re monitor interference - but how the feck do you change which channel they're on? He assures me he has read the instructions Hmm . Any tips?

ComradeJing · 16/02/2013 11:22

Will try to catch up tomorrow but I'm heading to bed now.

kirrinIsland · 16/02/2013 11:53

stunt I take few clothes for all of us and then do a wash or 2 while we are there. I also have sleeping bags/blankets that live at Dad's, as well as lotions and potions. But I'm up there a lot so it's worth doing it that way?

DD1 should have gone down for her nap over an hour ago but is playing me up something cronic. I have left her to it for now before I completely lose it with her If she doesn't sleep she will be an absolute nightmare later.

ChunkyChicken · 16/02/2013 12:09

Know the over-tired toddler thing kirrin. Apparently, whilst DH & I were at the cinema yesterday, DD lost the plot with her DGF when he wanted to change her nappy. Kicking, screaming, demanding us, wanting to go home, the works. Bear in mind DGF is usually her "fav-rit" and she address him, and she's only 2.9... She immediately, with a new nappy, climbed up on him & fell asleep. Strange child.
