Bloody auto correct, Breadtfeeding indeed.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/02/2013 19:28

Ds2 and I love Tangled. Flower, gleam and glow. Let your power shine .... Grin

I hope everyone's germs are on their way out.

Spaghetti Bol is always a winner in this house. I make the ragu with a shed load of grated celery, carrot, mushrooms, garlic and onion (grated in the food processor), tinned toms and beef and pork mince. It's always a winner and it is packed full of veg. I make a vat of it and freeze it.

Saying that, that is probably one of the few hot meals ds3 will really tuck into. He would prefer to eat little bits of finger foods rather than a plateful of one meal. His favourite finger foods are: cold sausages, ham, chorizo, cucumber, cheese, blueberries, apricots, hummus, grated carrot, grapes, chopped banana (sometimes with a smear of peanut butter on), sliced or grated apple. Have you tried hummus and grated carrot sandwiches? They go down well here. carbs, protein and veg in one sandwich - what's not to like. Also cheddar and grated apple sandwiches are tasty.

GreenFirefly · 12/02/2013 19:51

Well she ate a little of the pitta with chicken and veg tonight but really went for the pitta and hummous. Will try the grated carrot when we have some. Can't see cheese and apple working - she doesn't seem to like uncooked cheese (other than boursin) though I do keep offering. Spag bol goes down well, as does lasagne. She also eats a fennel, onion and sausage pasta sauce i make which I can imagine lots of adults not being keen on Confused. I really think it's time to expand my pasta sauce recipes as pasta is the one thing she really does like (it's a really bad day when that gets refused).

GlaikitFizzog · 12/02/2013 20:05

We had pea and pancetta (bacon lardons) risotto tonight. Very successful! I am beginning to see a pattern in him wolfing down things that may have a bit too much salt! Blush

Daisy17 · 12/02/2013 20:13

Miserable food refuser here too.....all coldy and molars coming through too, I think, poor lamb. He's fine at nursery all day then just comes home and loses it! Not great sleep last night either. Sigh..... Pasta Bolognese gets wolfed down normally, as does pasta with cheese and broccoli, pasta with ham and tomato, well, with anything really! I also make and freeze vats of potato, parsnip and carrot mash which I then bung tuna into or left over chicken. Quick and easy is my motto, and leave the posh food to nursery!!

fraktion · 12/02/2013 20:33

We had that last night fizz!

Galettes and crepes tonight - refused - but ate half a kiwi. He's feeling crap though.

My backup recipe is pasta + large spoonful of crème fraîche + tsp mustard + peas (+ ham/lardons/bacon bits) - always a hit.

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 12/02/2013 21:02

DD love fish - baked fish and mash, fish pie, fish pate. Fish anything really. Mackerel, salmon, haddock, sea bass and sole have all been gratefully received!
Chilli and spag bol normally go down well too. Stews tend to be my fall back dish for her - lamb, chicken and beef are good. The meat flakes up when it's been slow cooked, so they're easy to eat and they contain loads of veg.

There's a nice lamb curry in the River Cottage book GreenFirefly - that's normally a hit for all of us, although I add more heat for DH and I. The baked fish with winter tomato sauce is also a winner. Might be worth a try? Have you tried cous cous instead of rice? DD likes rice but seems to like cous cous even more.

Pancakes tonight. YUM!

Daisy17 · 12/02/2013 21:28

Am now officially half woman, half pancake.....

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 12/02/2013 21:39

All pancake here. I feel sick...

GlaikitFizzog · 12/02/2013 22:16

No pancakes here. I feel sick. :(

GreenFirefly · 13/02/2013 19:19

You OK fizz?

GlaikitFizzog · 13/02/2013 20:25

I'm fine, was just feeling awful last night, like I'd been hit by a train. But I'm fine now!

Early valentine steak for tea tonight! Now watching Man U - Real Madrid with dh!

Kittycatcat · 13/02/2013 22:02

I really shouldn't watch DIY SOS... Does restore my faith in mankind though.

MrsWajs · 14/02/2013 10:11

Ugh worst night ever!! R woke up at 3.30am and would NOT go back down! DP went into her first and I could hear her screaming "no way daddy, no sleep, no tired" We left her til 4am but she was stil screaming so I went through and tried to calm her but made no difference so in the end I had to take her from the cot and lie with her in DSS's bed (he wasn't in it obv) she fell asleep almost instantly!? WTF?? I stayed there with her rather than risk transferring her back to the cot. She woke again at 5am until half past and then slept again til 7am. I on the other hand have had about 2 broken hours since 3.30!! Sharing a single bed with a fidgety almost 2 year old is not ideal. I'm working today too 1-9 :( Could cry. Oh and somehow I've also woken up with the cold...aaarrgghhh!!

MrsWajs · 14/02/2013 10:11

Oh and happy valentines day everyone Thanks

JKSLtd · 14/02/2013 19:43

And to you MrsWajs :)

Hope you made it through work ok, some nights are just a write off, the trick is somehow not to get too depressed about the timing - which is always awful - and just get to bed asap the next night.
Easier said than done, I'm a real doom merchant in the dark.

DD was puking lots but kept tea down last night, kept breakfast down, all seemed fine, headed out to Jo Jingles & her hosp appointment to check her wandering eyes (another appt in a year, sigh). Came home, had some lunch, napped. Then threw up when I gave her a snack.
Think it is just because she's got such a sensitive gag reflex now.
So went out to McDs with her & the boys for tea (late pick up for DS1 so it's easier), she ate fine, came home, then threw up everything when she tried to eat a cake.

Lots of laundry, and God knows if she's still actually ill....anyway she's crying at bedtime which is unheard of for her. Luckily for me she's asking for Daddy (Grin)

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/02/2013 20:03

That's a lot of puke JKS, I hope she feels better soon.

I hope your shift goes well mrsW and I hope you get a good nights sleep when you get home. Early pregnancy and little sleep is an evil combination.

DH is currently cooking us a Valentines meal, it smells lovely. My present to him was a cheese hamper - one of which is heart shaped. I bloody love cheese. Not that I bought it for me of course .........

I'm off out tomorrow night to watch Brendan Cole - am v excited. We then have my niece and nephew staying for a long weekend - I can't wait, they're fab Smile

Oh, what did you buy at Kiddicare kitty ?

Kittycatcat · 14/02/2013 22:24

Hope dd is ok jks. So many bugs about. We still have the snots and coughs.

Hope u got some sleep mrsw.

I got s a new cup for his bedtime milk. I think we finally have him off the bottle. I said we were going shopping for a new cup as A needed his bottle because he's a baby, but s is a big boy so needs a cup. He actually drank from it so fingers crossed we are done. A has started on baby rice but his feeds are up the swanny cos he's ill. His reflux is worse too. The squawk is back. Also got s new plates. And a step so he can help and see what I'm doing in the kitchen-he fell off it already. Oops. Got a a bottle set with a training cup in it. And bibs for a. And I had a Starbucks.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/02/2013 07:57

Poor A and his reflux, that sounds horrid. Is it the food making the reflux worse?

I've been buying up new plates, bowls and cups too. Out with the melamine, in with the ceramic. It has taken me this long Blush to realise that the boys find it easier to eat off ceramic plate and bowls because they are heavier and don't whizz around the table. I have been scouring eBay for some gorgeous sets. This week I've got Bunnykins and Paddington Bear sets for a song and they are lush. Not that the boys could give two hoots and dh is giving me a Confused look as to why I don't just let them use our plates. Well I could, but that would be boring!

Kittycatcat · 15/02/2013 08:05

Your dh sounds like my dh. Didn't think of getting ceramic. Will do so next time. I think its been his cold making his reflux worse and he had avoid night last night so in hoping we are past it now.

Kittycatcat · 15/02/2013 12:48

It's the cold aggravating the reflux, been docs. My local boots has got probs with their gaviscon supplier Confused

GlaikitFizzog · 15/02/2013 12:55

I saw a thread about the gaviscon thing. Apparently a whole batch had to be chucked so they are behind with the production. GPs are prescribing a milk thickener instead until supplies are back to normal. Maybe speak to you GP about it.

Let me see if I can find the thread?

GlaikitFizzog · 15/02/2013 13:00

here it is

Also weird is I thought I'd posted about my bargainous oxo plate and cutlery set I got in the kiddicare sale. With non slip bottom, but it isn't there!

I may be going mad!

Kittycatcat · 15/02/2013 13:40

Ah thanks fizz that explains it!

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 15/02/2013 18:50

Kitty, I can send you a couple of boxes of gaviscon if you need it. F rarely uses it anymore, but the default prescription was for 4 boxes.
