Yes YW it was the evil blonde cow. Stunt I was told it would heal naturally within 2 years but as it has become infected (despite me neurotically cleaning it 3/4 times a day with cooled boiled water) she's been described a steroid cream to help encourage it to heal. If that hasn't sorted it within a week she may need surgery Sad Sad Sad Luckily she doeent seem too bothered.

Why do doctors receptionists feel it necessary to give medical advice? You're a receptionist love Angry . I'm tempted to file a complaint.

GT yes, M's beautiful dark hair is falling out with avengance Sad . Dp's calling her wiggins because her side burns have stayed put! My sisters hair did this and grew back as blonde ringlets so who knows what her hair will do now!

MissMummy1 · 30/01/2013 16:40

bloody autopredict PRESCRIBED!!!

PurplePidjin · 30/01/2013 16:53

Katie, flowers would just die and be another thing I don't have time to deal with. The price of a proper bunch would pay for a cleaner for a couple of hours so I could have a tidy dust-free living room! Feel free to sort my "garden" (patio full of pots) out though Wink

R is 10+2 but was 11 days early and is only just over 9lb so I think he just needs to finish his 4th trimester. In the mean time

at Pixies' French bicycle twins :o

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 30/01/2013 17:06

MM hope your LO improves with the cream

garden I agree with bigpig, definitely have some fun with dressing them when they're too small to object!

Pidj no advice, just the old MN adage of "this too shall pass"

kirrin fingers crossed.

katielily everytime someone addresses a post to you I get excited due to my first name! Then I realise... Ha! I think there are some people close to London, but some people on the thread have been together through conception threads, antenatal threads, and now this post natal one, and we talk A LOT, so it seems like we do. And a couple of people, YW and someone else, MM maybe? do actually know each other IRL.

Well, my day was lovely, birthday cakes made (chocolate sponge decorated with pink icing and in shape of butterfly, and lemon drizzle cake) and went into work and had good productive time. Now making dinner ready for their return. Expect DH will be basking in the success of his parenting even though his mum would have done most of it.

StuntNun · 30/01/2013 17:07

Only MM and YW actually know each other in RL Katie by some obscure in law relationship that I have never quite worked out, I suspect one is the SIL's sister of the other. We only seem to know each other because we talk a lot and have done for some time!

I weighed J this morning on my bathroom scales and he was 13lb 7oz then I weighed him again just now and he was 13lb exactly. This morning was just after a feed, this afternoon was just before a feed. It really makes me wonder about those people that were told their baby hadn't gained weight enough in a week.

My mum used to live next door to YW 's twin DSis, that's how we know each other!

MissMummy1 · 30/01/2013 17:19

Oh and we're on day 10 no poo. GP said to give her a teaspoon of brown sugar in 100mls of cooled boiled water. And stand back. Any opinions before i try this?

gardenpixie32 · 30/01/2013 17:27

MM. My mum said to do that if the girls have bad constipation. Apparently it is what she used to do.

horseylady · 30/01/2013 17:28

Just posting quickly yellow - I've sent you s message on fb.

blonderthanred · 30/01/2013 17:30

Hello new thread, oh hang on it's not new any more.

Brag: I managed to get L to fall asleep and have a day nap in his Moses basket! For 2 hrs! Night times he seems to have no trouble settling himself to sleep (with a little help from Ewan & dummy) but days he will only sleep on me or in car seat. So today I decided to make a concerted effort. It wasn't exactly self-settling, more like Mummy-stroking-your-face-for-half-an-hour-settling, but the point being he went in the basket awake and I got him to sleep! I am delighted.

Vent: the formula seems to be making his tummy so poorly. I know it is helping him gain weight but oh how I wish he could poo more frequently and with less pain. It's been 2 weeks on Aptamil now so I thought his digestive system might have got used to it but it actually seems worse, he is only going every other day (gallons, projectile, often over DH) and as soon as he hits 24 hrs post-poo he is inconsolable, high-pitched screaming, legs pumping etc. for hrs like being back in the early colicky days. DH and I were both almost in tears last night trying to calm him. Don't know whether to try a different formula but aren't they all the same?

Chat: we have the Morrck blanket which is a similar principle to the star blanket and we really don't need anything else - he wears a vest and sleepsuit underneath. I put a cardi/hoody on extra the other day as it was so cold out but he was sweltering so I won't do that again.

TheDetective · 30/01/2013 17:43

Blonder, some formulas suit babies more than others. If Aptamil isn't working, perhaps try SMA as Cow & Gate is pretty much the same as Aptamil. You've given it a good go, and if you think its giving problems, you can try another.

Woe is me. I am tired. So so tired. I should be making tea now, but I CBA. It's my own fault. Early night tonight! If you see me posting past 10pm, tell me off!

I'm going to do the night feed tonight. I'm sick of DP doing it and finding a stinky sweaty baby on top of him every morning. And having to wash the fecking blankets every day as they are also stinky and sweaty.

What is so hard about putting a baby in the moses basket runs away before I get shouted at!! when he goes in fine for me!!

I've eaten twice my weight in junk food today. This does not bode well.

Anyone else have a bizarre first period? Mine can only be described as explosive. There isn't more than usual, but it isn't staying on pads, instead I've got 3 pads on and its going everywhere but the pads. Confused I don't think its the pads - since they managed to contain lochia. Hmm Sorry. TMI!

PetiteRaleuse · 30/01/2013 17:44

MM that should work. Good luck.

DD1 being a real PITA today. I tell her off and she laughs at me. Not even two and she freaking well laughs at me when I get annoyed. I say no, don't do that 15 freaking tmes in a row, and she laughs and just keeps on doing it. I put her on her chair to think about it and she gets off the minute my back is turned.

But a lot of the time she is cuddly and loving and oh so sweet. I have to get a toddler training book I think. It's all attention seeking, that's obvious, but I give her plenty of attention. Hours a day colouring or reading or youtubing.

So why won't she come out of the bloody kitchen when I tell her to. Or come and have her nappy changed. Or stop hitting the poor dog. Or whatever.

Rant over.

ChunkyChicken · 30/01/2013 17:54

blonder I obviously cook my baby!! Blush He never seems that hot, but he always as a vest, babygro and cardi on under his morrck!! Admittedly ths has only been since its been dead cold, but still... May ask DMIL to get a star wrap instead of a snow suit as she's asking about clothes in the next size up.

KatieLily12 · 30/01/2013 18:10

Aw I think it's lovely you've all held hands for so long (still hoping for London bodies though)

I had to move south london so we could afford to buy and I miss north London and our friends tremendously. I went up yesterday to baby yoga and bumped into people I knew, was in a class I loved, knew where to go for snacks etc

It hasn't helped my 'down' mood at all. I need to establish some friends and fun in south London. I really do.

I just tried the baby bath instead of us bathing together. Holy hell the neighbours must think I was murdering her. She likes to sit up but can't yet. She hates those chair things as their inclined. Anyone got any ingenious idea?

blonderthanred · 30/01/2013 18:17

Chunky I'm sure your baby isn't being cooked! I just found L was a bit hot and sweaty but the hoody was quite furry.

Det thanks for the info re formula. I will give it a few more days as I guess changing formula could bring its own problems. Just needed to have a whinge as I hate seeing him so miz. Moses basket in day is a real achievement for us but then night sleeping he's been pretty good at - I guess babies just 'get' different things at different times.

MM I know wht you mean about Drs receptionists. Why are so many of them such shockers?

Katie and others it is interesting about the early/overdue thing, L was 2 weeks early so classed as 'full term' but I don't think he was ready the first couple of weeks of his life.

Stunt L was weighed on Monday and scales said he had lost weight - I said that cannot be right and they re weighed and he was 400g more. So even without feeding sometimes the scales are not as reliable as they claim!

KatieLily12 · 30/01/2013 18:17

Oooo meant to ask (sorry for multiple posts) but does anyone baby wear? I have a moby so bubba is v close to my skin so I don't know what to get her in terms of an outer layer? I love those star wraps but suspect they might be too warm? I've got leggings and leg warmers sussed by its the top layer that I get confused by

blonderthanred · 30/01/2013 18:19

ps Katie I'm in N London btw. Oh and we use a big bath sponge thing in the baby bath to stabilise him which has calmed things slightly.

PurplePidjin · 30/01/2013 18:25

Katie, R loved swimming so i run a grown up sized bath and swim him around in it. He loves it, gets lovely and tired! I have a VSL stretchy, a wahm mei tai (bit crap, will be used as a pattern soon) and a hoppediz woven borrowed from the library. I'm also full time fluff :) [hippy]

TheDetective · 30/01/2013 18:38

I am in a lush bath. This better fix my mood!

I am falling asleep though...

Wonder which one will disturb me first. My money is on the dog.

StuntNun · 30/01/2013 18:47

MM you've ruined the mystery now! I've been wondering about that for months.

Thanks for the sizing tip Pikz.

PR this will fix your toddler. It worked on my DS1 with ADHD and ASD so it will work on any child. The section on play is really interesting, apparently there's a technique to playing with your child.
