Our landfill and recycling bins are only collected once a month Shock . Food waste and paper fortnightly. And the landfill bin is tiny Sad

MissMummy1 · 31/01/2013 10:08

I live with the most selfish git there is.

Him: "Oh there's nothing for breakfast? I'll just nip out"
Me: "Can you pick up some nappies when you're in tescos?"
Him: "No, I'm going to the deli cafe for my breakfast, I've had a hard week at work and need a good breakfast"

Selfish bastard Angry Envy

ValiumQueen · 31/01/2013 10:08

horsey is a delightful name for a prison officer, so called because in years gone by officers turned a big metal thing to unlock the cells.

Passmethecrisps · 31/01/2013 10:09

Good morning laydeez.

MM I am good for anywhere to be honest. It would be better to have somewhere YW can eat something.

Looking for a little advice please. P seems to have lost her appetite this week. She will eat maybe 60 to 90 ml ok then fights the bottle massively. If I even put the muslin round her neck after this she screams and cries. She has always been prone to a bit of wind and constipation but it seems worse this week. I have been trying to keep her amount up by offering her the bottle later but it is much later - really pushing the safe length of time to be quite frank. I could make up fresh bottles but the infant gaviscon dosage would get messed up and any milk without it makes her really up happy. After feeds she often tries to stuff her fist in her mouth and roars furiously. Generally, feeding times are pretty stressful this week. She is 11 weeks this week. I have checked - no temperature. She might have a slightly snuffly nose but nothing major.

Any ideas?

BigPigLittlePig · 31/01/2013 10:12

MM Grin
Chunky and detective I think our dhs are of the same mold - every morning his alarm goes off 5 or 6 times, and each time I get more and more awake, as does LO, then he tells me off for nagging him to get up. Today, once he was up, he proceeded to shower LO in kisses which would be fine if she was sound asleep, but as she was half awake due to alarm, kisses woke her up. He does make up for it in other ways though so I can't get too mad although I do get shouty now and then

Think I'm going to have to crack out the gaviscon again tonight. LO slept well, feeds ar 10, 1, 5 and 7 but suspect that was due to alarm situation but spent the night on my chest with me semi-upright. Anything else led to screams and obvious reflux Sad. We also nearly had an incident the likes of which I would usually expect from pr when I woke as she rolled off my chest and grabbed her before she went off the edge of the bed Blush

BigPigLittlePig · 31/01/2013 10:13

MM was obviously applauding poonami, not dhs eating habits!

PetiteRaleuse · 31/01/2013 10:32

Oi, I heard that. I dropped my baby once. Does that make me thread baby dropper? Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 31/01/2013 10:37

Pass a slightly snuffly nose could be enough to put her off. She could also just be not very hungry. LO had a few days where she ate less than normal before a week of pigging out. As long as she doesn't get dehydrated and you offer little and often, and she continues to seem well I'd give her a couple of days. With DD1 she would eat less when constipated, then oe once she had done a poo..

BigPigLittlePig · 31/01/2013 10:43

PR it was meant in terms of general accident prone-ness. But you can be thread baby dropper if you like Grin

BigPigLittlePig · 31/01/2013 10:45

LO has fallen asleep in crib, by herself. I don't know what to do with myself. I have two arms. I can see my feet due to lack of baby on chest. I should do activities which involve bending but am too stunned also too hungry

PetiteRaleuse · 31/01/2013 10:45

Nah it's OK thanks. I'd rather just be known as a clumsy arse. Less shameful Grin

Passmethecrisps · 31/01/2013 10:51

Thanks petite. I think she has a very mild cold - coughs very occassionally and sometimes seems a bit snorty. I have cracked out the saline spray and have been scooshing her once a day. I wonder if I should do it before every meal?

I have read some of the FF talking of a drop in appetite just before a growth spurt. It might be that. The last growth spurt was 6 weeks when she was still recovering from her food refusal business.

She is sleeping well and just as much as always - she would wake if she was hungry wouldn't she? I worry sometimes that I don't let her sleep as much as she would like. She doesn't sleep very well during the day - waking when she is obviously still tired and getting grumpy as the day goes on. I always wake her at 7:30 but I wonder if I should leave her alone?

KatieLily12 · 31/01/2013 10:52

(Booty dances across thread)

She just did 35 mins in her crib! In a violent temper when she woke up but hey, it's progress right?

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 31/01/2013 10:52

zcos- I'm welsh Grin

I live in Leeds though now.

PetiteRaleuse · 31/01/2013 10:57

If she was hungry you'd see it. W all have days when we eat a little less. Saline drops or spray a good idea. Not only will it help clear her but it also helps prevent infection / worsening of cold. At 11weeks she's coming up to a growth spurt so she could be gearing up to that.

The paediatrician started talking about weaning today. Over here we do it at four months with fruit and veg purees. Next visit at beginning of March and she expects me to give it a go by then. Seems so soon.

ShellyBobbs · 31/01/2013 11:00

Sophia When my plastic and glass bin goes out, it goes out full with about 5-6 full bin bags full aswell. This is milk bottles (we go through at least 6 pints a day), tins, lots of fruit and veg cartons and juice cartons. There are 6 of us so we create a lot to recycle. The paper bin is always overflowing too. We always manage to fill the garden / kitchen waste due to the amount of veg peelings. Only our garden and kitchen waste is collected weekly, the plastic and rubbish is fortnightly and paper 4 weekly. Our rubbish bin is usually the emptiest. I do usually get rid of what I can packaging wise in Aldi and stick it in their bin near the door, so far they haven't said anything to me. Interestingly they offer this as standard in Germany.

ShellyBobbs · 31/01/2013 11:02

Still up 3 times a night with Tommy, he isn't budging from his newborn routine. He is a smiley little chap though and I fall in love with him again everytime he gives me that special smile that only a mum and child can experience :)

BigPigLittlePig · 31/01/2013 11:04

No need to have to make a decision. Had breakfast. Baby awake. Nap clearly done. Hello sling!

KatieLily12 · 31/01/2013 11:05

pass interested in the drop in appetite before growth spurt. Guess who cluster fed yesterday? Hmmm

BPLP our Velcro babies must have heard us eh?

chick is that the sling library near you? I need to go next Thursday if you're about?

MM yay for poonami, boo for crap from DH

Today I'm going to try putting LO in wrap without all in one and see how she is. Convinced she's getting too hot esp with wrestling her into it.

glendathegoodwitch · 31/01/2013 11:06

kirrin I have had constant headaches since having the implant - are you on any hormone contraception?? I also find they are worse when feeding in bed because of the way I sit

I have the Kari me - so far I've only used it around the house to do housework - its too much of a palaver to use outdoors while she's still so tiny!!

Yay good night last night - I'm giving up the sleeping bags for a while cos she just doesn't like them and still likes to be swaddled. Especially as we're off to Manchester for a few days and the 5 of us will be sharing a hotel room - hopefully she will sleep in her travel cot!!!

Right I better start getting clothes together instead of sitting here watching the wright stuff and mn'ing!!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 31/01/2013 11:20

Biscuity waffle about rubbish Biscuit

shelly that will be me next week, taking all the packaging off! It seems as if most of you have more separation of your rubbish which helps we have one recycling bin for cans, paper, plastic but not glass Confused so I trek off down to Tesco glass recycling about every two days, then one other bin for everything else food, cellophane, nappies and FORMULA CARTONS. Am I missing something? Are they recyclable?

I feel for you with all your trying ILs. I do well. I do have the odd comment that sometimes tweaks at my hyper sensitivities Hmm but I do genuinely think that is down to generational differences so I brush them to one side. I know they love their son and their grandchildren to distraction and they are so helpful when we are there. I know I can leave the boys with them and they will be treated with love and care, and the odd treat that I wouldn't give them at home.

baby related question Grin

Just given most of a bottle of Aptamil Comfort, a much happier feed time. None of this rigid, stiff as a board and yelling. Someone said they only give one bottle of it a day, how does that work? I thought I would do the mid morning one and the afternoon one as that should settle his tummy enough, or whatever the damm problem is. Any views anyone?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 31/01/2013 11:22

pass katie we really struggle with feeding in growth spurt weeks and always have a cold which is why I just bought the Aptamil Comfort. I think horsey has had a similar experience.

Xx

ValiumQueen · 31/01/2013 11:54

sophia if I had two in disposable nappies there would be room for nothing else in my bin. I have DS in full time cloth, and DD in cloth when I can be arsed. She only uses three or four nappies a day now so it is not a biggie having her in disposables, but little man can get through 15 in a day easily. DD does horrific poos and seems to prefer to do them in cloth which puts me off as they are a bugger to wash out. Washables would make a difference, but add to your workload so unless you are really keen, I do not recommend swapping.

I am very very tired and grumpy today and still feel like shit.

detective apologies for this morning and my less than charitable comment. It was an improvement on the first draft, but still a bit mean.

ValiumQueen · 31/01/2013 11:57

pass growth spurt I reckon. The saline is a good idea. I think DS will continue to have drops even after he is better. Before each meal is a good idea.

MM I will go wherever. Perhaps YW best decide as her dietary needs are paramount.

ComradeJing · 31/01/2013 12:08

Shhhhhhhhh... I'm having a bath and a glass of wine. Both dc are asleep. For the first time in about 6 weeks I'm having child free time.

It's bliss.
