thinking gro bag is also helping transfer process - putting it on is part of his burping regime (the bit where you test them on their back to gauge puke potential)

Catbag · 15/01/2013 05:28

Socks on the hands is totally better than mits. I put them on Saul when he was first born as he kept taking chunks out of himself and I had not got any mits. This caused much hilarity amongst the children, and briefly earned Saul the nickname 'Saul Sockhands' (think Edward Scissorhands). Multifunction clothing ftw

MissMummy1 · 15/01/2013 05:38

Rowing only started a couple of nights ago. Before that we were getting nice 4/5 hour chunksSad . Grr.

Also I've told dh MIL is not allowerd to stay again when he is working. They can visit on his leave weeks but I am not entertaining putting up with them on my own again.

Tonight has been slightly better. We've had 2 hrs and then anothee hour.

I got a kindle fire hd for my push present and it has been a lifesaver during night feeds...it may not be diamonds, but it's priceless to me! I suspect he is thinking about an eternity ring, it's been mentioned, but we plan on another baby within the next two years so will probably hold out. I've only just got my rings back on after having them cut off at 32 weeks!

Clarella · 15/01/2013 07:01

oh god do I have another night of it to come tonight? mind you if there's a guaranteed 4 hour gap I can cope. he also did an hour and a half gap just now but I was both so awake after the 3 .hr sleep and nervously listening to his chuntering I didn't kip.

didn't know about the 9/10 one! thought next was at 11/12?!

katkit1 · 15/01/2013 07:28

Socks working a treat - why have I not been doing this for the last 8 weeks?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 15/01/2013 07:31

gt I had a Tiffany necklace with a diamond O charm on it for having Olly. I didn't have anything for having DS1 though so perhaps some of my cronies at work helped out there!

detective yep ff babies get the growth spurts too. Sorry bout that!

katkit1 · 15/01/2013 07:31

Couldn't face another cot transfer so he's been on me asleep for 2 hrs - who cares, I got to sleep too without all the loud huffing/puffing/huff/gruff - he's so quiet when he sleeps on me.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 15/01/2013 07:33

Have to day Tesco scratch mits £1.99 for 4 seem much better that they used to be, Olly's never come off.

katkit1 · 15/01/2013 07:34

Didn't get any presents - loving the mulberry bag though - I drool over those.

Catbag · 15/01/2013 07:39

Worst night in a long time here, was starting to fall asleep sat up at various points in the night. River was good, Saul was not. Ended up leaving him screaming at half six this morning for ten minutes to make myself a cup of tea and escape. I was starting to feel a bit insane through lack of sleep. He calmed down just before I came back in to the room (I had the monitor on), which I thought was great, but it then transpired that DD1 had heard him screeching and come through and picked him up for a cuddle. That was fine, but I was then afflicted with tremendous guilt and felt the need to explain why I had left him :( Was completely unecessary as she was not judgemental at all, just wanted to help. Still suddenly felt bad and selfish though, even though it was the sensible thing to do :(

Catbag · 15/01/2013 07:42

'Push presents'?! This is the first I have heard of this! I have never had one :( Although after six kids, DH would probably have bankrupted us, given the quality of some of those presents you have mentioned!

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 15/01/2013 07:43

I always buy the baby-grows with the fold over sleeves to avoid her taking chunks out of her face, we also don't bother with real clothes for the first three months. Mainly next and mothercare do these.

I hope we don't have another night like this clarella, the 4 hour stretch was great but I feel traumatised after the feeding frenzy. I laughed at the 'gauging the puke potential', I do exactly that!

I'll check amazon today lane, thanks for the tip.

Passmethecrisps · 15/01/2013 07:46

Morning.

Sorry to hear about the growth spurts ladies. detective you asked whether FF babies have them - my theory is that ff babies have to put less effort into feeding anyway so don't get themselves worked up in the way that BF babies do when trying to increase supply. I also haven't particularly noticed any difference in P. I sometimes wonder if she is just a bit more grizzly but nothing specific.

P managed to fight her arms out of the swaddle last night - not so great. Believe me, we are delighted with her sleep but it was a shock to our systems her waking up 2 hours easier than normal. She half-heartedly took a feed and is now sleeping again. We are guzzling coffee and staring at the news. We did need to start getting her up earlier anyway so it's no biggy.

I hope she is in better fettle today - she has been very out of sorts for a week now. The constant grizzling and crying does get waring.

It occurred to me yesterday that I still haven't had my 6 week check - p was 9 weeks yesterday! It struck me because I haven't been feeling very well. I wake up every morning feeling sick with a sore stomach. This stays until about lunchtime. I also occassionally feel faint. I think I am probably just not eating well.

katkit1 · 15/01/2013 07:49

Gosh catbag - you deserve a guilt free cup of tea - the guilt we throw at ourselves is terrible.

Passmethecrisps · 15/01/2013 07:53

And no 'push present' for me. No birthday or Christmas present either. I am the earner so it would be completely daft to spend money we don't have. I was in hospital with P for my birthday anyway.

KissysUnderTheMisteltoe · 15/01/2013 08:12

Finally caught up! It took ages Smile

No push present either. Did get spoilt at Xmas tho so can't complain

My DP is pretty good with helping out. I don't wake him overnight tho unless theres a major incident! He has to drive long distances for work and I worry about him falling asleep.

Rowing sympathies on the MIL front, she sounds like v hard work Hmm

Love the memory quilt idea VQ, think I will definitely make one of those for my girls. Going to eBay some stuff too tho. Also need to do some of my clothes and shoes! It just takes so long..

Only 1 or 2 chicken pox spots on LO so far and she's been ok thank goodness. DD1 poorly with a cold, cough and temp tho, it's never ending!

horseylady · 15/01/2013 08:13

Well I got ds afterwards so didn't need much else!!

We did very little for Xmas and my bday for presents.

Think were hitting 12 week growth spurt. Detective he's ff but becomes he becomes very clingy and whiney. And he seems hungrier but doesn't actually eat any more!! He was like it all day yesterday, all night and this morning appears worse :/

Clarella · 15/01/2013 08:17

one boot was my push present and one my xmas present Grin

Titsalinabumsquash · 15/01/2013 08:23

J slept the whole night .... And is just stirring now but he did it cuddled up to me in my bed :/
Screamed in the cot, the second I picked him up he was asleep with a little smile on his face....

I sorted his clothes last night. He's grown out of 2 black bin bags of clothes in 10 weeks Shock
He has bugger all left though so I'm off to mothercare (vouchers from Christmas) to buy a few bits in probably a size too big!

As for gifts, our anniversary was the day before J was born so as a double anniversary/baby present DP surprised me with a Topaz (nov birth stone) and Diamond, white gold tennis bracelet. He even got it in the right size! I got a couple of little bits and bobs for Christmas. Smile

PetiteRaleuse · 15/01/2013 08:28

I didn't get a push present (though I had no intention of pushing anything so not surewhat such a gift would have been called). I did buy myself an iPad a few weeks before the birth and during the night time wakings I love it. It's also so handyduring the day during cuddles and feeds. Except DD1 nicks it a lot to watch youtube videos. Current favourite is Gangnam Style and has been for weeks.

I had a bad night. As usual, put LO down then slept badly myself. Can't get Nytol over here. I think I might go to Dr and get some of the hard stuff.

My TV keeps switching itself on and off this morning. It'sstarting to freak me out.

My DH bought me some Hotel Chocolat chocolates and some Lush goodies for a push present. I'm not sure why, he didn't get me anything for the last two. They were much appreciated, especially the chocolate in between hospital meals.

I sold a couple of things on Fleabay recently and I really got hit on the postage charges. I'm going to use local Facebook sites for other things. I'm not selling any baby clothes though, some of these things have been worn by all three of my children plus I'm thinking about trying for DC4 in August but there's probably no chance of talking DH into that.

I found a skin tumour on my dog last night so we're off to the vet today. Chances are that it's benign but I'm a little worried as she has lost a bit if weight and been tired lately which I had put down to her advanced age of 10.
