We've just made a successful transfer with the help of Ewan. I'm hoping for a good night as have a funeral tomorrow morning. Hope others sleep well.

MissMummy1 · 14/01/2013 23:50

She was 10lbs13oz when I had her weighed a week ago.

Basket transfers were almost the death of me last night. Didnt matter how deep a sleep she was in she would wake as soon as I placed her in it. Sad

Headbutting/scratching/grabbing and growling at boobs combined with constant feeding here. She's pretty much been attached to me since DH left at 6.30 Confused .

MissMummy1 · 14/01/2013 23:51

If the swing doesnt work a Euan sheep is my last resort. (although the red glow and womb sounds of the video monitor do bugger all other than annoy meHmm )

TheDetective · 14/01/2013 23:54

Risk it for a biscuit or a bowl of profiteroles like I just had but shhh don't tell the diet thread! toomany?! sometimes it just doesn't seem worth it, does it?

I will keep his first outfit. This is all. Despite wishing I could keep them, we don't have the space, and we do need the money really.

I've decided I do want another. In fact I've got a time frame sorted May/June 2016 . And I'll be saving to take 9 months off as soon as I return to work. I need to save £7000. Faaaark.

I could buy a car with that!

I'll be keeping a lot of the baby stuff but I may need to pay for storage as we have none!

TheDetective · 15/01/2013 00:00

Oh bollocks. I always forget stuff in my posts like you haven't noticed....

I have found the swing secret to happiness. Swaddle in the swing. He slept 6-9 in it this evening! After similar on Saturday. I wondered why it had less success Sunday - the swaddle was being washed! We had tea AND watched dirty dancing tonight! Wow!

Do FF babies have growth spurts? At 7 weeks I haven't noticed one yet? Looking forward to a mega one no doubt.

pikz Same here, 7 weeks and legs straining out of 0-3. I only put them on him 3 weeks ago. Am going to take 2 sets of babygrows back and get 3-6. Bugger it. He can skip a size!

TheDetective · 15/01/2013 00:01

3 weeks?! Stupid phone! Try 1 week ago!

kirrinIsland · 15/01/2013 00:14

I've just looked at Ewan the sheep on Ebay - there is someone on there selling them for £100!!!!
If I do get one it'll be the £25 one from amazon.

Is it too late for Ewan at 9 weeks?

GTbaby · 15/01/2013 00:14

I got LO in his crib looking at me with the evil "come on mummy I'm so cute u know u wana pick me up look" tempted to just leave him in there n go down. But can't be bothered to walk up down stairs every time he yells for attention. (He gets his leg stuck in the gaps, so always check if he yelps)

Am thinking about eBay. But do t know if money made would b worth the time? Also like idea of memory quilt. But how does that work with a bunch of baby grow. Actually. Haven't finished his blanket! Better dig that out!

GTbaby · 15/01/2013 00:18

Apparently gap n Zara r good for long/ skinny babies.

Also VQ my mum works for a dept store. So gets designer goods for discount. Which helps! I don't buy lots of designer things at all. But do save hard n treat myself.

Out of curiosity did any ones DP buy them a gift for having their baby?

TheDetective · 15/01/2013 00:25

Yeah he got me a bottle of coke...!

No, and I didn't want anything as it had just been my birthday, we have to cut down on spending and we have joint finances so would have just felt like I'd paid for it myself!

He got me a card and a balloon though!

MissMummy1 · 15/01/2013 00:26

GT I got a diamond necklace for m's first christmas from dh. This is incredible given he bought me a single tyre for my car for my birthday last year...

She is asleep on me. I'm scared to move her. Granted I am not sleeping, but my boobs are also getting a bit of respite from her attacks!

Clarella · 15/01/2013 00:47

....... oooo possible successful transfer.....

I have two gadgets with white noise on....

wow diamonds! lol tyre! dp bought me the boots I've been hankering on about for ages since my fat pregnancy calves bust my other ones . but these are much more robust while still pretty cool for tramping about with a pram or a sling.

TheDetective · 15/01/2013 01:19

I managed to get him the fuck to sleep by using my own white noise. I think I will record myself for tomorrow.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh for as long as I could sustain. Over and over. I stopped, he shouted. I carried on he slept.

Good nytol Grin.

The things we have the bloody do eh....

katkit1 · 15/01/2013 01:42

Detective - dh doesn't wake but I can do one better and tell you that dh also sleeps in spare room - has done since the beginning, I'm on my own during the nights - I hear the baby gruff and snuff a bit louder and fetch him for a feed, there is no crying - thank god.

MissMummy1 · 15/01/2013 02:16

FFS I have a bra and bed full of vom Sad

And an awake, hungry again baby.Sad

katkit1 · 15/01/2013 03:08

Hungry baby here again and vomit on shoulder and wolverine scratch down neck, scratch mitt fell off

GTbaby · 15/01/2013 03:10

Kit kat try socks as gloves instead. They stay on better.

katkit1 · 15/01/2013 03:28

Thanks gt that's a great tip - these gloves are a nightmare especially as his nails are so sharp

katkit1 · 15/01/2013 03:31

Outfits look so cute without gloves and now socks haha - can't wait until mr scratchy learns to control his little hands a bit better

CandyPop · 15/01/2013 03:45

My dh bought me a mulberry bag for my push present . Bless him he panicked during the birth as I was in such a state and he was so scared when I had to go into theatre. He was saying whole loads of stuff to try calm me and one of which was I'll buy you a designer bag' .... Unfortunately for him howver tramatic the birth was, i remembered afterwards andI held him to it! Haha

Dh is also opposite to most other dh re night duties. He is a 'confused' sleeper . He often sleep talks and when he gets woken abruptly he gets very confused !! So not only does he wakes when she murmurs sometimes he just shoots up and starts getting up unnecessarily and go to change baby thinking I told him too and I often have to tell him no need she's sleeping!

Our normal routine is that he gets up to check/change nappy while I wake myself up and get boob out ready to feed. Normally if she does a 1am and then a 4pm feed u would try do the 4pm feed/change on my own so that he gets a least a longer stretch of sleep but this is only during the week when he has to work.

Oohh on an exciting front , she had he first night time feed at 10pm and slept till 3am!!! It's a record stretch!!!! We're also using our grobag for the first time.... Wondering whether its that! Gonna ask a question about gro bags but will leave till the morning.

Right gonna try get some kip 😊

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 15/01/2013 04:27

The transfer was unsuccessful but I left her and she took a dummy she fell asleep at 12 so I carried her upstairs and she stayed asleep until now!

I got flowers and a balloon but no push present, same as detective, joint finances so no real point!

Hope you both got some sleep MM and clarella

Clarella · 15/01/2013 04:51

oh here too toomany! he just woke up for a feed! hasn't gone that long for a couple of weeks! and as soon as I read mm post - bingo - bra full of vom.

lol detective - might work! there should be a service on the nhs that records our own womb noises before birth so we can use it patent pending for dragons den success save a million mummies sanity!

rowingdowntheriver · 15/01/2013 04:52

Socks for gloves? Good idea gt, I'm trying that tomorrow.

I got an eternity ring on my birthday after DS2 from DP which I so wasn't expecting as a) we're saving to move house and b) I also got one when DS1 was born. Turns out DP started squirrelling money away when I got pregnant. (He's not so bad really!)

MM, are the mammoth nights a recent thing for you? Sorry I can't remember. Just that I had 2 nights a couple of weeks ago where DS was like that but he 's been fine since so I put it down to a growth spurt.

MIL eventually came out of her bedroom after a couple of hours yesterday and I did my best to act bright and breezy and as if she hadn't been sulking for 3 hours and we went out with the boys for the afternoon. Luckily the atmosphere had cleared by the time DH got home. Fingers crossed for a better day with her today!

katkit1 · 15/01/2013 04:58

Feed 3 of night and he's got his socks on his hands - champion.

katkit1 · 15/01/2013 05:05

Sleeping bag going on for tomorrow night. i think i could drop a feed if he didn't wake up because he's kicked his blankets off again, he's fed for 3 seconds and is asleep,on my chest.
