Mamapo won't she sleep in her pushchair or a bouncy chair?

Stacks · 18/01/2013 13:32

Past couple of days T will only sleep in my arms. Not sure what caused the change, but if I put him down at all he stirs and wakes up within 10 mins. I've given in and just held him. Been really useful wearing my dressing gown - I can tuck him inside and tie the belt beneath him. Acts almost like a sling so I have 1.5 hands free. I co sleep with him so he doesn't wake, feed to sleep, cuddle for 10 mins, then put him down beside me (still wrapped in my dressing gown) and sleep. It's been so cold here past couple of nights that the extra layer is good.

No help here really mama, but I'm in the same boat.

Clarella · 18/01/2013 13:52

oh mama same here - 6 weeks on Monday. he was super sleepy yesterday as I think still under weather but finding hard to go down today . he also insists on being over shoulder when awake and fractious to look about so sling doesn't work. my back is killing! still, if it means he sleeps more in night......

I did just answer the door while bf - my current party trick! however had to sign for parcel with left hand Grin

I found it much easier to bath g in the bath with me - he loved being swirled about and having the odd feed!

Stacks · 18/01/2013 13:55

I am going to bath with T tonight. I've not had a bath in over a month and no shower today either. How hot do you have your bath when sharing? Not the recommended lukewarm of a baby bath?

pmgkt · 18/01/2013 14:04

Yes stacks I'm afraid still only lukewarm, maybe you have a bath with him, then your other half can take him and you top up to proper girly heat

WillYouDoTheFandango · 18/01/2013 14:09

I did it the other way Stacks let him sit in his bouncy chair in the bathroom until the water was cool enough for him then got out and dried us both. But I was on my own so that was the only way.

J currently asleep in sling while I mn! Grin I can't believe how easy they are to put on, always thought they looked really difficult

WillYouDoTheFandango · 18/01/2013 14:10

Obviously in between the water cooling and me drying us I bathed him with me. Baby brain Confused

WillYouDoTheFandango · 18/01/2013 14:10

How are you feeling pmgkt? No ill effects from the accident I hope?

EggsMichelle · 18/01/2013 14:25

Will catch up later... But Honey you have made the right decision not to come to the midland, we may have stranded ourselves in Leicester!

MaMaPo · 18/01/2013 14:32

Thanks for letting me know I am not alone in this tricky boat! I think whinging on MN did the trick, though, as she just woke up from a 90 minute sleep and I got a bit of a nap too. Even 40 minutes has made me feel slightly more human. After this feed I think we'll get the sling out and go for a snowy walk.

Spotty, she does sleep in the pram eventually, but it can take a while (not v feasible in this weather). I dont have a bouncy chair.

SpottyTeacakes · 18/01/2013 14:51

Clarella I'm impressed you're getting deliveries the postman didn't even attempt coming near us today!

Maybe you could get a cheap one mamapo ds spends lots of time in his? Although he's given up in daytime sleep too Hmm just wants to feed every 90 minutes...

CODwidow · 18/01/2013 16:40

stacks we have ours warmer than lukewarm, much warmer in fact. Dd prefers it as well as she'll quite happily sit in a warm bath Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 18/01/2013 16:56

We have a warm bath too. Our bathroom is pretty cold so it cools down really quickly.

HoneyMumandSon · 18/01/2013 17:14

D loves his baths and the couple of times he's come in with me he's liked it but my 2 problems are- I like bath bombs or bubbles but not site if D should be having those so I don't enjoy my bath as much. I'm also scared of him pooing while we're in there!

SpottyTeacakes · 18/01/2013 17:30

I'm scared of the poo too Honey! You could compromise with baby bath?

I've just made risotto but ds wants feeding so have to wait to eat it Sad

WillYouDoTheFandango · 18/01/2013 17:37

Grin I was terrified of the poo! Especially as he hadn't been for 2 days and a poosplosion is imminent. Luckily we escaped. I think bath bombs/bubbles would be a nono honey at 4 weeks we're still not using anything. When are baby wash/shampoo etc allowed?

CODwidow · 18/01/2013 17:50

I've used a little bit of Johnson's in the bath since birth as dd often gets milk in her hair Blush

HoneyMumandSon · 18/01/2013 17:53

Scbu told us to use the johnsons all in one wash so we've been using that all along. :)

halesball · 18/01/2013 18:18

I think i'm going to wait until my bath cools abit and then put H in with me. Also wanted to say thanks again Pidj, H has been hard to settle for the last few days and after reading that article i decided to try 2 recreate a few movements from my pregnancy. I bounced with her holding her close to my stomach on my birthing ball (where i spent most of my pregnancy) needless to say she quietened down and eventually stopped fighting her sleep. By the way i am amazed how much shes been able to fight her sleep since she was born.

I haven't used any bath stuff in H's baths yet (shes 6 weeks today) and was also wondering when to start introducing it. Was going to ask my HV on monday. How often is everyone else seeing their HV's? This will be my 4th time in 6 weeks.

WLmum · 18/01/2013 18:23

willyou dd is my p3rdb and 4 weeks - I would not allow her to be taken out without me, and probably won't be even semi comfortable being away from her for several months.

Will read that article when tired eyes allow - got cold, feel sorry for myself!

emilyeggs · 18/01/2013 18:31

My boy seems to have a lump under one nipple.....normal??

SpottyTeacakes · 18/01/2013 18:35

I think so Emily. It's just hormones and should settle down Smile

MaMaPo · 18/01/2013 18:43

Hales, I saw the HV yesterday, only second time and C is 6 weeks. C was miraculously asleep during the visit so HV didn't even see her - is that normal? I was hoping shed measure her length as I'm curious how long she is. HV asked whether we were putting baby down to sleep while still awake. Answer is 'sometimes but it rarely works' and since then have gotten myself into a state trying to create perfect sleeping baby. Have realised folly of this and just bfed C to sleep, will put her down in a bit. I guess it's better C be rested than overtired because I'm trying to do everything 'right'!

Gosh, this is tough, huh? Never realised how annoying the conflicting advice is.

SpottyTeacakes · 18/01/2013 18:47

Oh mamapo ignore your HV she is still so tiny! Some of them know how to really stress you out!

WLmum · 18/01/2013 19:34

Yup, ignore hv! They come out with some right old crap! It's great if your baby will go down awake and send themselves off to sleep but I don't believe this is the norm.
