sophia I will be attempting training DD2 in the summer too. My mother is putting her in pants at her house. I found this out when DD2 asked for pants and dobbed her in. This is after asking my mum to not put her on potty or toilet as DD was expecting the same at home. This was when DS was unwell.

Dixiebell · 07/01/2013 14:32

sophia, sorry the potty training hasn't worked out. I am persevering with ds1, been a week now. Weeing seems sorted but he's gone 2 days with no poo now and I know he needs it, but seems v reluctant. Worried that he's going to get bunged up which will make it v difficult for him. I'd almost rather he did it in his pants than not at all! Also he always starts grabbing his crotch just as I've settled down to feed Teddy! Cue lots of dashing to the toilet carryibg a toddler with my boobs out! Blush

pikz · 07/01/2013 14:32

Feel like jacking all the expressing in and just giving LO formula. I know it's because I'm tired and it seems like such a hassle. Must not make decisions when I feel like this.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 07/01/2013 14:33

Oh no vq has she ceased ?

It is being a hard day today. I could do with my mum, I miss her after loosing her 5 years ago. Sad ( I would be cross with her if se did that thoughGrin)

PetiteRaleuse · 07/01/2013 14:42

His appetite will come back very soon, don't worry about that. A week ago DD1 had hardly eaten anything for a week, and this lunchtime she polished off two fish fingers, chips, three clementines, a big lump of cheese and a quarter of a baguette. Which is more than she ate the whole week before she started to recover. Small children bounce back quickly once recovery starts.

LO is struggling with her milk at the moment but every day is slightly better (the worst was last Wednesday and Thursday). Don't worry if he coughs enough to be sick - it's a good sign as he is getting the plhlegm out of his system. As long as there's not too much milk coming out...

Enjoy the dog walk. I daren't take both children and the dog for a walk. DD1 Is a bolter, and the dog is too...

YellowWellies · 07/01/2013 14:51

Sophia hugs. I lost my Mum when a teenager - I too wish she were around now and able to meet her GS. I would kill be very mad with her (poor choice of words! Blush) were she messing around with potty training my kids without my permission though!

Pikz what's up? You've been through the wringer with it - keep strong if you can. Even with a growth spurt am finding it much easier now at 10/11 weeks - it has become second nature - the poor child only has to squeak once and he gets a boob stuffed in his mouth Blush!!! For us it would mean a lot of wasted bottles and effort sterilising. Are you still in pain?

Our 10 week growth spurt has delivered a chatterbox! He's gooing and cooing! So cute :)

BigPigLittlePig · 07/01/2013 15:00

Hello, was hoping to join you all if I may? DD is 6 weeks old, and I'm afraid I'm bringing another refluxy baby to the mix - I seem to be having a better time than some of you though so sympathies. Luckily, little pig only really needs gaviscon at night and is very greedy good as will gladly take a bottle of ebm with gaviscon hidden within.

It's such a relief (although a little selfish on my part) to hear that there are other people functioning on a similar level of sleep deprivation!

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 07/01/2013 15:12

Thanks for the info YW, I'm going to attempt it starting tomorrow, too tired to think today! Not sure if it is diet related as it's only really been a problem this week, she's always been sicky, but it hasn't bothered her before. Would she not have suffered from birth if was an allergy? Or is that wishful thinking on my part?

We're having cavity wall insulation done today, just what I need, more noise!

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 07/01/2013 15:18

Hi BPLP, sorry to hear about another reflux baby.

YellowWellies · 07/01/2013 15:31

Jonas didn't suffer until he was 6 weeks old. It takes a while to build in their system and also for the protective coating on the throat to be burnt off and for the reflux to cause them pain :( (not the answer you want to hear I'm sure but there is a 50% chance it's not your diet so don't despair!). It's only by doing an elimination diet and messing up on some days by accident that we can link J's reflux to dairy not 100% sure yet about soy.

pikz · 07/01/2013 15:37

YW just tiredness and feeling a bit jaded. Mil goes home today finally and think LO and I need a couple of days in our pjs getting our sleep and routine back. Pain all gone now.

Big hugs to all the refluxy and ill babies.

ditsygem · 07/01/2013 16:33

Hi everyone,
Sorry I haven't posted since an "is this labour or not" type post back in November - well turned out it was, Felix Alexander was born on 14th Nov weighing a huge 9lbs 15oz. I feel like I am only just getting back on my feet a little bit after those hazy new born days and a huge struggle with painful breastfeeding and then mastitits when exclusively expressing so now ff and have to say although I feel guilty I am so much better for it and hope that I am being a better mummy to LO because I am happier.
Sorry to hear of those of you with sick babies at the mo - its so worrying being a mummy! I am dreading the jabs next week. Has anyone had the jabs without their LO having a reaction? (so I can hold out hope!)

NotSoNervous · 07/01/2013 16:54

pass my lo gets fed up of being held and as soon as I put her on the floor on her mat she's happy again but doesn't like being in the Moses

My DD does not sleep in the day, if we're out in the pram she sleeps for 3 hours max, if we're at home nd bobbing them she has about 2 or 3 15-20min cat naps and that's it then we start bed time at 9 and do bath, feed, dress, leave in front of this musical thing for 10 min or so, feed again, cuddles, move into our room, sometimes feed or just cuddle abit longer then in the Moses and she can sleep for up to 4 hours for the first one then normally goes back to every 2 hours. We bath every night but don't wash and it seems to tire her out more and if we don't bath her then I'm lucky for her to go 2 hours between a feed.

When my DD is awake she use to be happy on her mat or in her chair now she's not as happy and likes constant play time and attention

Oh god detective are you okay?

I'm very Envy at your lo taking a bottle valium the first time is hard though, it completely took me by surprise

Welcome newbies Smile

Congratulations ditz

I've just had a brain wave, lo is still refusing bottles completely but maybe we would have more luck by trying the next teat size on the tommee tippers? We've had a great day today, the first day on our home at home doing nothing in a good 6-8w since DP hurt his damn hands

She's started teething though Sad was awful Sunday day and night but is abit happier today thankfully

Thechick · 07/01/2013 18:41

Radio london are talking about slings vs prams.

Evilwater · 07/01/2013 19:36

Hi all we got an appointment to see the dr's tomorrow. Baby evil is exhausted, and this time he is crying after the bottle and not before. His poo has also turned a shade green. Does this happen in reflux babies??

Just noticed a strange bump on the back of his head. Ill get that checked out at the dr too.

Evil

YellowWellies · 07/01/2013 19:49

Green poo can be a symptom. Good luck hon xxxxx

ditsygem · 07/01/2013 19:58

for those struggling to get LO's to take bottles, when I was introducing bottles to my LO I found the Dr Brown ones best. he wouldn't take the tommee tippee ones. But I also found that he would refuse breast milk but eventually I offered a bottle of formula and he took that much better. I could the swap in the breast milk during the feed and eventually he would take BM or formula from the bottle just as easily as each other.

Titsalinabumsquash · 07/01/2013 20:01

Finally got J weighed today - 11lbs 6oz following 25th centile

Can babies teeth at 9 weeks? He is drooling and chewing his hand like a champ, very grizzly baby past 2 days.

I've finally got round to re booking '6' week check for Friday and jabs for end of the week and I booked us into baby massage at the family center.

I'm feeling v.low today, I've no idea why..

Detective I hope you're ok lovely.

Anyone else with poorly babies/ bad health or unhelpful/shit bag partners - you have my thoughts and hugs! Smile

Thechick · 07/01/2013 20:06

Ditsy my LO has had his 8 wk and 12 wk jabs. The first one he was very sleepy for about 24 hrs. The second he was a bit grumpy, but that was it. Didn't have to use calpol or anything

ditsygem · 07/01/2013 20:10

Thanks chick. You hear of so many bad reactions its reassuring to hear it won't necessarily be too bad.

lcdaff · 07/01/2013 20:11

Big hugs to all those with babies with reflux. It really does get better; with the right milk/diet/meds you'd never know they'd ever had a problem. Worked with several little ones who became completly diffrent children in the space of days.

Boo and I made it to a baby group for the first time today. So nice to have some proper adult conversation.
Dh spends most of the day at home but has been driving me crackers with conversations about cues, pool and some insane notion that his going to start building pool cues in our living room.

In other news, mil has been unoffically baned from our house. As she has no conept of boundries or short visits we're not even attempting to fit her in anymore. Dh surgested it thank god.
Will now be visiting her when we can fit her in and only for as long as boo will allow. The woman is impossable to feed around, attempting it isn't worth the stress it causes boo and the pain it causes me.

Those who are working on toilet training; don't let hv pressure you into anything you're not ready for and as for the pooing issue it can take a while to come. My nursery's policy was to put them into trainer pants if it was a strugle and give them the opportunity to try when they were relaxed.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 07/01/2013 20:17

What exactly are trainer pants?

PetiteRaleuse · 07/01/2013 20:20

I was unsure about toilet training before 2, but I bought a potty and left it in the room and DD1 has taken to pullinh her trousers down and sitting on it with her nappy on, shrieking 'pipi' and then getting up, applauding and shouting 'bravo' afterwards Grin

i can only assume she's been watching children at the creche. So I'm going to give it a go and see. The floor's filty with the dog bringing in mud from the garden anyway...

PetiteRaleuse · 07/01/2013 20:21

Sophia I believe they are expensive padded pants so if there's an accident it's less of a big deal. I'm not buying any.

Thechick · 07/01/2013 20:27

Tits my LO has been drooling and chewing his hand too. Hes 13 wks. I think it's just babies being babies. I think they get a bit of a temperature and maybe a bit of a rash but I think different babies react differently when teething.
