Vq Yeah reading it makes a lot of sense but seems like implementing it may not be as practical so I think u have the right idea and use it loosely as a guide.

evil my LO seems to be ok during the day, she doesn't fuss a lot sleeps well when she's tired an happily coos when she's awake BUT then she has a scream-athon between 10.30pm-1am until she gets fed again then she finally sleeps. How do you correct this?!?! It's doing our head in as obviously by that time we are knackered !

Bed time routine at 2030 roughly!
Change nappy,
Place LO into sleeping clothes, (it's a tattered baby grow)
Feed,
Burp,
Walk up stairs and see if he needs feeding again in his dark room with no noise.
Place in cot,
Read a bed time story.
Then hopes he stays asleep!
Tonight it's not working so well, but last night was a dream!

candy - sorry I don't have any tips. My LO wakes up at 4ish and wants to feed and play. Some night it takes ages, other he is straight to sleep.

Nervous my Lo is havinng similar jssues, hhad started doing 2 hour stretches. Last night, woke up just after 2 having gone down at 11 and did no longer than 20 min stretches all night til school run (and wish l knew your secret with that shlly ~ we have been late for the first times ever this term.

H had his 2nd lot of jabs today.Seems fine, has been asleep in my arms since around 6. Gritting my teeth and expecting another bad night tho as soon as l try and put him down.

ValiumQueen · 21/12/2012 22:40

DH is home. Pissed as a skunk. I have told him he is sleeping on the sofa. He feels he is safe to co-sleep he is not.

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 21/12/2012 22:48

I would say the same VQ

StuntNun · 21/12/2012 22:55

How can I be so tired today? J finally drifted off so I put him to bed and went to bed myself at 10 only to be woken up at 10.30 by a screaming baby. He has been feeding all evening so I thought he would go a bit longer and let my poor abused nipples recover. I just couldn't deal with trying to change and feed him again and got upset whereupon 'D'H accused me of "crying like a little bitch with a skinned knee". Thanks a lot for the support! He's been out with his brother this evening so he hasn't had to deal with the crying and refusing to settle. I can't believe how inconsiderate he is. Apparently his parents are upset because I said I didn't want him to pick his brother up from the airport. But why should he do it when either of his parents can do it, they both have cars ffs.

Oh stunt that's not very nice of him at all :( hope you're ok

StuntNun · 21/12/2012 23:16

He has apologised now, I know it's just the sleep deprivation talking but it made me want to kick him in the nads.

Just caught a whiff of the lovely caramel sweet smell of DS after a feed & was transported back to the early days with DD, cuddling her in her bedroom or changing her poo-nami, up her back jobs. I got all teary because I miss the simplicity of that stage with her, & before you know it DS will be a toddler, & I really don't think I can have another baby, so this lovely, scrummy, newborn baby stage is it. :(

ValiumQueen · 21/12/2012 23:23

stunt what a horrid thing to say.

DH is not happy so I am being all sweetness but firm. I am saving what I want to say for the morning.

I think tonight would have done him good but it would have cost more than we can afford. Apparently only the managers went so he is either in for a promotion or will never get a permanent contract. Drinks on an empty stomach never bode well.

ValiumQueen · 21/12/2012 23:29

chunky I am so looking forward to him being a toddler and never having to do this again, but now he is asleep next to me and smelling so good, I know what you mean x

I went down to check on the big baby. Asleep with an upturned can of iron brew in his lap. I love him dearly but I could wring his fat neck tonight. I have closed all the doors and baby gates so will hear him fumbling if he decides to do a fry up in the middle of the night. Safe to sleep with an infant? He will be apologetic in the morning when he has the kids to deal with at 5.30!

ValiumQueen · 21/12/2012 23:32

DS in the cot and I have a super king bed all to myself! For ten minutes probably anyway.

ValiumQueen · 21/12/2012 23:38

I think that was 4 minutes! Cue coughing fit. No vomit though. This is the first time I have ever evicted DH.

Passmethecrisps · 21/12/2012 23:41

vq spend those 10 mins in a starfish!

Passmethecrisps · 21/12/2012 23:41

Blimey! Didn't even finish my post,

ValiumQueen · 21/12/2012 23:46

Oh I did!

Peaky1 · 22/12/2012 00:29

Wow. It has taken me aaaages to catch up on the threads. Every time I read a couple of posts while feeding about 20 new ones come up for next time! It doesn't help that DS can be a fidgety moo when feeding so I spend more time aiming him back on the boob before I continue reading.

I hope all these poorly babies get well soon. I'm currently shitting myself (pardon the pun) as DP came home today feeling drained with a bad tum and vommed once. Please, please don't spread!

As for feeding times, it's evenings all the way up to midnight where he just cannot be satisfied. Screaming, fussing, vomming, feeding like a starved child. I'm grateful that he seems to sleep more at night after the clusterfuck of an evening but I'm sure I haven't said much more than 'can I have a cup of tea' and 'help me, my arse is going numb in this chair' to DP since his paternity leave. Oh well, we'll live.

VQ I've been using cloth during the day. The OSFA and the Alvas have been great. Only 1 leak and that was following the loudest, wettest fart I have ever heard. In the middle of a PND support group, no less, just after the poor woman opposite me had burst into tears. I made a lame joke about timing but it made her smile anyway! Then I realised with horror that his whole left leg was orange :-((. I want to get more Alvas now. They're so cute and better than I was expecting.

Shelly Could you please post some vids on YouTube showing us how the flippin heck you manage to get all that done in an hour? PLEASE?! Haha. I dream of being a multitasking heroine but until then I'm a mum in training :-).

Peaky1 · 22/12/2012 00:30

Wowza. Made up for lost time with a Godzilla post!

Peaky1 · 22/12/2012 00:33

I knew there was something I wanted to ask. Breast milk coming out of freezer - how long does it take to defrost in the fridge and how long will it keep in the fridge once defrosted?

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 22/12/2012 00:40

peaky depends how much there is. If you lay it flat to freeze in the bags, it defrosts quicker & obviously in smaller amounts. It could take a couple of hours I guess. I think, as long as its in the fridge, you treat it like anything frozen & use it within 24hrs.

sweetpea1112 · 22/12/2012 00:41

Ooh so co-sleeping is quite nice...Just had a nice 1.5 hour sleep - 3 hours between feeds. Lets see how this next chunk of sleep goes...

NervousReindeer · 22/12/2012 01:16

We're going to start attempting more of a routine at bed time now. LO seems to sleep slightly better after a bath so we was going to bath her every night but not use products just so she can have s luck about then dress in a dimmed room, feed in dark then 5 min with this sleepy light thing then hopefully she'll settle, it took about 1hr 30min to get her down tonight then she was talking to herself for a good 20 min. Going to attempt transfer in a minute

Dixiebell · 22/12/2012 01:59

Moses transfer FAIL. Start again.

CandyPop · 22/12/2012 02:30

Dh held LO after the 11pm feed downstairs so I can have some sleep. Apparently she settled within 20mins but dh didn't want to risk the Moses basket transfer as its upstairs with me in case it woke me. Just did the 2am feed and the basket transfer seemed to have worked! Right need to sleep! Catch up with u guys hopefully around 5am!
