Don't be ashamed be proud Detective! Sounds like just what you needed and I bet Oscar loved it.

Anyone else's baby having comedy hair issues? Mine had a full head of dark hair, then he lost a lot in a kind of band around his head, so he has a Mohawk on top and a monk's tonsure style round the bottom which is quite long! Now he's starting to regrow and his roots look fair so he might be a blondie... Funny to see the dark hair at the tips and blonde at roots, people will think I've done some extreme baby hairdressing!

ValiumQueen · 29/12/2012 19:07

blonder all three of mine have had the dark tips/fair roots, but the girls hair got darker once it got longer. They are now dark blonde. Me and DH were platinum blonde as children and I was expecting the girls to go the same way when I saw the fair roots.

PetiteRaleuse · 29/12/2012 19:48

I have a dilemma: DH thinks that me going to take over at the hospital and breaking up the routine there will disturb DD1, and also that I am too ill to go overnight there tomorrow.

I would of course love to see her but am worried that me leaving again would be upsetting for her. Is it best I just stay away until she comes home and then smother her with love then ? O r will she resent me forever for leaving her in hospital and not going to see her?

I don't know what is best. I miss her but I don't want to make her more ill or stressed. And I don't know if I would be able to hold it together when it would come to leaving her again.

YW I posted a couple of weeks ago that the Ranitidine and Domperidome did very little for my little one. She was initially on the same dosage as J. They give out the dosage according to weight. I think I may be wrong, but isnt J heavier than M? When the pediatrician weighed her, she was 10lb5 at 11 weeks. She now takes...

2ml Domperidone 3 times a day
1ml Ranitidine 3 times day
6 sachets of Gaviscon ( only give 2 in the evenings as she becomes too constipated.

I have now noticed a huge difference. She is now a happy baby and no more weird stopping breathing episodes. I can only assume the initial dosage was too little to make any sort of difference. They are weighing her monthly and adjusting the dosages accordingly. Hope that helps.

We are off on a little long holiday. Greece for a month to stay with my parents. Cannot wait. Will take the girls back in the summer so they can go swimming and get some vitamin D. Looking forward to having lots of arms around to hand the girls over too to be adored by their Greek relatives! They are 13 weeks old today, time has flown by!

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas :)

Passmethecrisps · 29/12/2012 19:58

PR I am inclined to agree with your Dh. Your wee girl has her daddy so I really don't think she is likely to feel anything about you not being there other than missing you.

Get better yourself and shower her with kisses and cuddles when she comes home to you.

PetiteRaleuse · 29/12/2012 20:01

Already he si going to have to leave her for a couple of hours tomorrow afternoon as he needs to get out and a friend she doesn't know will stay with her which will be scary for her. If I then go in and either stay but with no daddy or I go in and then leave again it will be hard for her. It's a bloody shitty situation. She's too old to just accept what is going on like LO would, but too young to understand our various reasonings for what is happening to her.

DesperateHousewife21 · 29/12/2012 20:24

candy I was at Bluewater yesterday! Bit of a disappointment I thought.

We're settling down to watch Michael McIntyre on DVD I got for Xmas :)

GTbaby · 29/12/2012 20:26

Petit. Strange idea (maybe) but can ur DH maybe try stepping out of ur daughters room for short periods between today n tomorrow afternoon so she sees that he goes n comes bk. iyswim. Even if he is just stood right outside the door.

PetiteRaleuse · 29/12/2012 20:31

That's a good idea GT I will tell him to do that tomorow morning, as well as explain to her several times how the day will go, so that even if she doesn't like it it won't be a surprise iyswim.

ValiumQueen · 29/12/2012 20:39

PR would the nurses be better caring for her rather than a stranger? I think your DH is the best one to decide what is best as he knows you (obviously) Your job at the moment is getting better and looking after LO. DD1 will be ok, and will be home in a few days hopefully. I can begin to imagine how horrid it is, but I think your DH has everyone's best interest at heart. You mentioned the drive there worrying you, and you were told not to visit. Please do not risk other children's health by going. If a child with immunosupression got your bug it would not be good. They even say if you have a cold not to go in.

Evilwater · 29/12/2012 20:46

Hopefully N is asleep now, I'll catch up with the thread.

Does anyone know what the difference is between new baby size 3 and normal pampers size 3 is??

horsey - I've been for a good walk today! and I loved being out, apart from the cold wind brrr......

Evil

Elizadoesdolittle · 29/12/2012 20:47

Nuk bottles I love you. DD just downed the whole let straight away and is now fast asleep drunk on milk. Am very much hoping this wasn't a fluke. It will help so much as I can top her up to increase her weight gain. Plus of course it means I can go out safe in the knowledge she won't starve. Right I'd better get pumping so my supply doesn't dwindle.

ValiumQueen · 29/12/2012 20:48

New baby nappies are better designed to absorb liquid poo. And more expensive I believe.

Watching Mamma Mia with DS, dancing around the lounge with my little man after midnight.

ValiumQueen · 29/12/2012 20:49

Good stuff eliza hopefully not a fluke.

GTbaby · 29/12/2012 20:57

VQ are u already using the active fit nappies? Or generally when can u move away from new born nappies?
As active fit seem to b on offer more.

PetiteRaleuse · 29/12/2012 21:03

You are right of course VQ it would be awful for me to make another child there even iller than they already are. All the kids in that wing of the clinic have respiratory illnesses like bronchiolitis - there's a bit of an epidemic - but there are different strains of the RSV virus and it would be horrible to either give mine away or pick up another and pass it on to LO.

I'm not sure the nurses would stay with her for 90 minutes while DH pops out. It's the holiday period and they are short staffed like I guess everywhere else.

I'm going to meet him nearby and give him more clothes / cash / and his medication / a few bits and pieces for DD. Maybe I will record a video message for DD on his phone and make do with that.

daisychain76 · 29/12/2012 21:10

VQ l love Louis Theroux but have never been lucky enough to dream about him, so feel quite jealous.

Happy birthday Jenbird. I hope your LOs are better soon chunky and kissy.

ValiumQueen · 29/12/2012 21:40

GT I use washables mostly, but bought some pampers simply dry as they were on offer. I think they are all pretty much the same. The aldi ones are excellent and cheaper.

PR a video message sounds lovely. Perhaps reading stories too? Why not ask the nurses? There will be times parents cannot be there, and they are ultimately responsible for her. Good luck for the drive x

daisy I have never thought much about him, but after last night, wow! I had forgotten where I had parked my car, and he kindly helped me find it. I had my three kids, and was married as I told him so. It was a very long and lovely dream. I woke up feeling like I had been unfaithful.

jenbird · 29/12/2012 21:54

Just a quickie to say thank you for your birthday messages. My day did improve mainly due to my dh being a star and making a huge effort bless him.
pr what a horrible time for you. No words of wisdom just good thoughts and wishes for you.
vq glad I am not the only one who feels like I am letting my children down. I am clinging to the fact that it is very short lived. I just hope my wee boy realises that too.

Kyzordz · 29/12/2012 22:02

Hope I don't miss anyone but I probably will! Happy birthday jenbird :)

Sorry your dd is poorly pr, bless her I really hope she's better soon the poor mite, sounds like you've got a lot on at the moment!

Don't feel guilty detective, sounds like a lovely day in bed!

Yw hope something can be done for j's reflux :( poor little fella.

Eric is doing well, we have had a very busy house over Christmas and I think he'd been a bit overwhelmed but today has been a much more settled day overall. Just waiting for him to want his last feed between now and 11 and then it's bed time! Had to buy some emergency 3-6 months things today as the baby grows and vests are all quite tight on him length wise! His arms and legs are very long and his shoulders quite wide and not much 0-3 fits him now :/ it's all a bit tooooo snug! :/

NervousReindeer · 29/12/2012 22:14

Happy Birthday jen hope everyone is feeling better in your Ouse and you've managed to enjoy a bit of your day

My DP has never done a night feed or got up with me, in the early days when
LO was wide awake from 5 he would go downstairs and let me sleep then wake me for feeds and he did that a couple of times at night too, I can't complain though because now his hands are better he's so much more hands on like he was when she was first born, I'd rather have that in the day and do the nights myself

Thanks GT I still have loads of wipes but might stock up while there on offer, there all going to get used at some point Grin

eliza so glad to hear your new bottle worked!! I'm feeling very jealous and just about to order of amazon, how do you sterilise it? I've got the electric tommee tippee can I just put it in there? Also how old is your lo? Sorry I'm useless remembering and sorry for the ten questions Blush

It's good to hear you managed to get some rest petite and also that your Dd is needing less oxygen

Went to the sling library today for the first time and it as very informative, I was bait Hmm with the women though, very forceful with her opinions, tried to force us to co sleep and other parenting advice which would have been kind of her if she wasn't trying to force it on us. She didn't like my DP very much because when I was trying things on and trying to say politely that this doesn't work for me and she just dismissed it and tried to convince me I did and hes more outspoken and firm and she didn't seem impressed with that anyway I've loaned a mei tai and another one which I didn't really want to take but she was very adamant the first attempt with lo I'm wasn't very successful and she screamed so I quickly took her back out but will try again tomorrow

Oo just looked back at my huge post Blush sorry

DonnaDoon · 29/12/2012 22:14

kyzordz just wanted to say I love your boys name Eric how fab...when I was in hospital having dd there was a little boy named Ralph and I thought gosh how cool and quirky it sounded its amazing how all the old names come back.

TheDetective · 29/12/2012 22:31

Nervous I'm really keen on the mei tai, and I keep saying I'm going to get one, but I want to hear from other people how they are before ordering one! Please tell me what it is like! I'm a bit worried about where the feet go!

I need a new coat/snowsuit/wrap for Oscar as he has grown out of his first one. I was going to get a morrck wrap, but I just realised, we don't always use the car seat. So if you have one (? Stunt ) can you just use it in the pram?

He gets a bit warm when we are out, so I've not really been putting the snow suit thing (even though it was a thin fleece one!) on him. We tend to just put a cardi over vest and sleepsuit, hat, and nice cosy blanket. I'm sure people think he isn't wrapped enough, but he definitely gets too hot if I use the snow suit and leave the cardi off! If it is extra cold, then he gets a thicker velour/fleecy sleepsuit instead of a cotton one!

I was thinking of just getting a coat, and putting blanket over. But then I do like the idea of the morrck wrap. However we don't really bring the car seat in the house, so I'm able to take outdoor wear off anyway, which was the point in getting the wrap (for me anyway!).

I've been eyeing up the new stuff in the Next directory. Am in love with the bright stuff, but really should not be thinking of buying full price new clothes for him! I should be eBaying and getting stuff that way! But I really really want them! Gah! Am going to put his up to 1 month stuff on when he grows out of them in the next 2 weeks or so. They have all washed well, so can be eBayed on! I might keep my favourite babygrow though Grin.

Time for money saving for us now! Got to think of ways to save money, as will be £700 a month down from the end of Jan! And this month is a 5 week month, so may as well get started! Am dreading checking the bank - haven't looked since pay day before christmas... it's gonna be shite, I am sure!

Elizadoesdolittle · 29/12/2012 22:43

nervous I just put it in my Philips electric steriliser. It will be fine in your one. I got the 150ml plastic one so its quite small, but big enough for my needs. You can get large glass ones and small glass ones too but I stuck to plastic as it was cheaper and I didn't want to spend much in case she didn't take it. E was 7 weeks yesterday but still not back to her birth weight so is quite small. She was 7lbs 8ozs when weighed last week. Good luck, hope it works for you.

Elizadoesdolittle · 29/12/2012 22:48

Meant to add make sure you get the latex teat. That and the shape is what made the difference for us. She's just thrown it all up so next step is teaching her to keep it down Smile
