DD1 getting worse. Physio twice a day from now on they doubt she will be home before new year. DD2 sneezing a lot, seems to be starting this cold. I hope to get to the Dr this afternoon. Can't keep any food down and I don't know if it is stress or just this cough.

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 12:48

Does anyone's mother still call your LO baby? Am I being unreasonable to say to my mother that he has a name? It took her about six months to call DD2 by her name. I should not be surprised. She is now in a huff saying 'she can never get anything right' ffs! I am too tired to fucking pander to her sensitivities!

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 12:49

PR oh dear Sad I will pray for her, and you all x

YellowWellies · 28/12/2012 13:10

My MIL keeps calling Jonas baby, think she can't get her head around how to pronounce his name (Yon-as not Joe-nas) and panics.....

MissMummy1 · 28/12/2012 13:15

My MIL refers to M as baby. Both her and my gran think her second middle name (Luna) is a joke Hmm

YellowWellies · 28/12/2012 13:15

Yo-nas even..... ferrfecksakes....

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 13:21

I asked her if she kept forgetting it or just did not like it. Her reply was 'well, he is a six week old baby' so I said he was 9 weeks old, and I did not hear her calling Billie 'toddler'.

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 13:22

I am forever calling him his sisters names. I referred to him as a little turd in the middle of the night [oops]

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 13:23

Shock even.

blonderthanred · 28/12/2012 13:24

Wow I thought it was just me whose mother refuses to call the baby by his name. Xmas card was addressed to 'Dear little grandson', she only ever asks how 'the baby' or 'my grandson' is. I think she hates his first name, we've been trying to work out if there is a deep dark reason but maybe it's not that uncommon. It's been really pissing me off.

Funnily enough she likes his middle name (which is the equivalent of Luna) and will tell anyone who asks his name what his middle name is.

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 13:25

I would not be surprised if you need antibiotics too PR do prioritise seeing the Dr yourself x

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 13:28

I am not alone then. I thought it was her age. She does not like it I am sure. blonder it certainly sounds as if your mum doesn't like it either. If they had a new puppy would you call it puppy?

horseylady · 28/12/2012 13:48

I refer to my now year old puppy as 'the puppy' fairly often. I referred to my old pony as 'the pony' too!!

I always call the puppy by her name though lol and mostly to other people. Just when she's done something wrong she's not anise she's 'the puppy'. I rarely call my horse her stable name. I call her moosey. Perhaps I should change her name to that really.....

Ds though everyone calls him by his name. Apart from those who are unsure how to say it. Or who think it's the same name as the man city stadium......

Right my chest size is bigger. Will this go down?!! My hips and legs fine but baring in mind my ribs can be felt/seen it's a pregnancy side effect along with the still big boobs. It's not weight, it's actual growing of chest?! I know where the weight is. I also know he enjoyed taking up residence under my ribs.

I'm doomed aren't I?!

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 14:14

horsey many would see that as a good thing. Mine will be spaniels ears once I stop feeding. My feet grew a size. They have never shrunk back.

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 14:16

And horsey you can call your baby/pony/puppy what you want, but I think it is rude of others to not call a baby by their name.

ShellyBobbs · 28/12/2012 14:16

Horsey Pre-children my boobs were a very modest A cup, after my first and weighing 8st 2lb they stayed at a C cup until after my third when I stayed at a D cup (weighing between 9.5st and 10st 4lbs).

Oh Petite so sorry.

horseylady · 28/12/2012 14:23

I think it's my chest though, not ESP my boobs. Will they not go down either?

Yes it is rude for others not to call them by their name!!

TheDetective · 28/12/2012 14:41

Horsey, one of my colleagues said that her chest (ribcage!) became bigger after her second child, and has never returned to normal. She swears he stretched her ribs! I don't know if it is possible, but anecdotally, it seems so.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 28/12/2012 15:10

PR hope your DD is better soon, must be awful.

We had our own hospital dash on Boxing Day after DD sliced her head above her eyebrow by tripping in the bathroom. Que DH running around like a headless chicken, trying to take DD to the hospital naked (she was just about to get in the bath) and me weeping because I couldnt go too (DS in middle of evening feeding frenzy). She's fine, was running around the triage room entertaining people. But I cried again when DH called to say DD might need stiches and therefore a GA. Fortunately they have decided to see how it goes. She seems unaffected but will have a scar. Will post a photo to the FB page.

VQ My feet grew a size after DD too! People think I am weird when I say that pregnancy with DD caused my feet to grow, but they definitely did. Was a 6 all my life until pregnant, now a 7. Thank god they didnt grow again with DS!

PetiteRaleuse · 28/12/2012 15:47

Just back from the doctor. I've got bronchitis so antibiotics and not allowed to go see DD1, advised not to handle DD2 (well since I'm home alone with her not sure how to avoid that).

All very dull. Eplains why I'm so knackered though.

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 28/12/2012 16:02

horsey my ribcage expanded with my DD, giving me all sorts of pain & discomfort during the pregnancy. It took a long time to go back from a 34 chest to a 32 again, although I didn't lose all my pg weight & stop bfing until 9mths, which was when I could get back in my usual bra. My ribs didn't hurt/expand this time, so whether they are permanently slightly bigger or whether baby was just in a different position, I cannot say.

I am aghast at how big my knockers are this time. I wore a 34G with DD for the first little while but I honestly don't think it was as long as this time. I hope they reduce a bit soon, but again not too much when I stop feeding.

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 16:13

PR hope antibiotics work soon. Is there any family who could visit to help? You mentioned a friend who is having a hard time - is it time to call her?

PetiteRaleuse · 28/12/2012 16:20

My family are in the UK and my ILs are the other side of France and tbh the last time they came to help I was a nervous wreck by the time they left.

I'm going to ask my friend to look after LO tomorrow for a few hours so I can rest.

I'm worried about DH he is at the hospital and I know what it is like you don't sleep at all but he can't leave DD1 for more than a few minutes as she gets very distressed and panicky if she wakes up and we aren't there.

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 16:49

Is there any support like social services, home start, church type things there? Are there any local mumsnetters? Hopefully the staff at the hospital will be kind to DH. At least he is well. Could your family visit as it sounds like a bit of an emergency x

blonderthanred · 28/12/2012 16:50

So sorry to hear it PR. What a difficult time for you. Hope your friend can help out as you need a break.

Not so dramatic but I seem to have come down with something, have felt awful all day. Nothing serious but sore throat, cotton wool head, aching limbs. DH has looked after DS all day & just brought him up for feeds, however he is out for the evening with his parents so it's just me on my own now. Was really looking forward to having a quiet evening with DS but now just hoping I can stay awake. Bloody tv not working either.
