Our room is about 19-20. I turn the radiator off at night and leave the bedroom door propped open and during the day we open the windows to let fresh air circulate

petite at least her temps come down its a move in the right direction. Hope your feeling better this morning too

I've been up since 7 when lo fed, put her back down and sorting washing and stuff out. DP has some clothes I brought him for Christmas to take back but I can't find the receipts anywhere there in the house somewhere unless he's chucked them out which he would never admit to doing

Do we have a weight loss thread?

NervousReindeer · 28/12/2012 08:48

Sad have a cup of tea and out your feet up petite she's getting the best care and treatment, your DH is with her I'm sure shell be fine and you'll have your energetic little girl back soon

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 08:50

I can imagine PR I hope it is not too long before she is driving you to distraction again.

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 08:52

I will go and start a weight loss thread now...

PetiteRaleuse · 28/12/2012 08:55

I just don't understand how she got this bad. She's so strong and healthy. Even her doctor when I took her in a week ago today said she was sure it was just a cough and that it wouldn't develop into bronchiolitis and if it did it would be easy for her to shake off as she is so strong and healthy.

How is it that one week later she is so weak and ill? Ffs double pneumonia and bronchiolitis it's serisouly sodding unfair.

PetiteRaleuse · 28/12/2012 08:58

I just asked DH if I should email through some pictures of the pets but he says she is too weak even to sit up.

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 09:11

New mummies with wibbly tummies in Big, slim, whatever clubs. If someone could please link...

PR she is strong, but she is also very little, and the bronchiolitis is a bastard. Her strength will hold her in good stead. Thankfully this is all she is fighting, and she does not have any underlying conditions. It would scare the crap out of me too, but she will be ok. Little ones look like they are at deaths door when ill, but bounce back pretty quickly. It will take her a while as she has a bad dose, but she is in the best place and getting the best treatment. How are you? Thanks

PetiteRaleuse · 28/12/2012 09:14

I'm OK. Coughing my guts up and covered in baby puke.

Apparently she won't eat. She lost 2kg in the last week. She's on a drip now of course but she needs her appetite back she normally eats so well. Loves everything.

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 09:26

PR have you had your chest listened to? How is DD2? Sending big hugs x

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 28/12/2012 09:33

PR I too regularly had double pneumonia on top of my asthma as a toddler. I'd be in an oxygen tent & on more IV drugs quicker than you can say antibiotics... I know its not a reassurance to you now in your situation, but I got better and have no effects. I barely even remember hospital, despite nearly living there!! Toddlers bounce back quickly. She'll be back causing chaos before you know it.

DH has taken DD to the Dr. Her temp was back up to 40+ last night. She has a tiny cough & runny nose. Her temp barely came down, despite being nappy only & on calpol. She's now off her food, so she must be poorly.

PetiteRaleuse · 28/12/2012 09:36

I meant to go to the Dr this morning but it's half 10 and only now DD2 has gone down for nap so I can shower. Hope I can go this afternoon..

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 09:44

Perfect cat I thank you!

chunky that is interesting about your childhood ailments. Pneumonia strikes fear in people's hearts, so it is great to hear you survived all that. I do hope DD is soon mended. As there is a cough it is unlikely to be CP coming, if that is any consolation.

TheDetective · 28/12/2012 09:51

Your poor family PR :( I hope today sees improvement for you all.

Hands/feet are fine to be cold - tis normal because of circulation. Temp best checked (without thermometer) by 2 fingers placed on the chest or back just below the collar of the clothing.

Our door is left wide open which helps it stay cool.

Am going to have to get a dehumidifier. We have real issues in our lives with fucking water Hmm. Fed up of mold and water damage everywhere. Despite best efforts, it's bad.., can anyone recommend how to get hold of a very cheap dehumidifier?

DTD last night. Not for his benefit. For mine. To see what things felt like. It's strange. The sensation of being stretched really helps. It didn't hurt. Same as the internal last week. I think the pain is behind the scarring??? Me no understand! Can have sex. But can't walk/stand for long! Go figure. Hmm Anyway, apart from being able to feel some bumpy bits (DP) and feeling numb along the scar line (me) it was fine. Not saggy. Yet. Grin

Just need to fix what is causing the discomfort walking/standing/siting!!!!

PetiteRaleuse · 28/12/2012 09:52

Hope your DD feels better soon Chunky and thanks for telling me about your childhood pneumonia not having too much of an effect long term. Pneumonia used to be such a killer but now is much more easily managed but it is stilla scary word..

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 09:55

detective we sold a 6 year old dehumidifier for more than we paid for it, so not sure EBay is the place to go.

Elizadoesdolittle · 28/12/2012 10:28

Nervous re your bottle issue, after talking to a friend who had the same issue I've bought a Nuk bottle. The teat is latex instead of silicone so much softer and also is orthodontic so easier for baby to suck (apparently). I ordered it off amazon yesterday so not arrived yet but was only £5 so I thought nothing ventured nothing gained. Also another friend mentioned the Aptamil newborn start kits which is what they use in the hospitals. You attach the teat directly to the aptamil bottle but that means giving formula. If the Nuk bottle doesn't work I will go down that avenue. Will let you know how I get on.

petite so sorry to hear about your DD, poor thing and poor you. Wishing her a very speedy recovery.

I'll join in with the weight loss thread. It's not so much that I want to loose weight, just exercise and tone up. I have no motivation to do it so joining that thread might give me the kick in the butt I need.

horseylady · 28/12/2012 11:16

Detective - he's 21 yes? No way my dh could have contemplated kids then or me. However he needs to actually man up. He's behaving dangerously but you need to hit him where it's going to hurt. The longer he acts blasé the bigger the risks he'll take.

Petite - hugs

More and more smiles every day!!! So sweet!!!

YellowWellies · 28/12/2012 11:22

Pikz glad to hear you're on the mend - you've every right to be proud! That's bloody epic managing to keep feeding LO yourself with mastitis. Lucky baby to have such a devoted Mamma!

PR hope your little girl bounces back asap - it must be heartbreaking for you Thanks VQ is right 'pneumonia' is such a terrifying word but the prognosis today is so different so try not to be scared.

We've got more sodding gales. Am sick of the wind. DH and I are going to watch DVDs and cuddle the baby all day rather than go out, after DH has made sweet potato soup nom nom...

ShellyBobbs · 28/12/2012 11:25

Petite Sorry to hear that your daughter is in hospital, hopefully once she is home you won't see the inside of a hospital for a very long time.

Tits Yay, finally home!

Detective It took my hubby quite a while to become an 'equal' with our first. I felt like I had to do everything as nothing had really changed for him, he even went out with his mates the same as before. I couldn't ask for anyone better now. He will grow up, but unfortunately it does take a while (about a year in my case).

I'm wearing pants that were too small for me pre-pregnancy, I can even pull them right down without unfastening them, looks like i'm probably a size 10 now, down from a 14 (used to squeeze into large size 12 pants). Am very chuffed as Tommy is only 6 weeks old.

Having to sort out clothes for Tommy as he is growing out of his 0-3 months clothes too, he's such a chunk. The health visitor has just been and he's put on 15oz in 11 days, he now weighs 10lb 11oz. Night feeds are now around 3am and 4.30am and last for a total of 10 mins, he also sometimes goes in his moses basket for half a night although I still prefer him to sleep in bed with me.

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 28/12/2012 11:30

Thanks VQ my Mum seems to think such a high temp could mean an ear infection. DH says she's asleep on his lap at the dr so is def a poorly girl.

Glad to help PR. My only memories of hospital are related to cold weetabix & the play room!! However, I quite like hospitals, so maybe the frequent visits at that age normalized it for me?

detective think dehumidifier was from Argos or b&q.

I won't join the weight loss thread. Not because I don't need to, but because I won't diet & I can't really do the exercise I enjoy right now, so will just try to walk more. Plus breastfeeding makes me hungry & hang on to the last few pounds...

MissMummy1 · 28/12/2012 11:32

My 3 week old is out of newborn. She's wearing mostly first size, but 0-3 isnt exactly drowning her either.

GT none near us. Bugger. Will stick to whatever offers tesco has on...

PR sending lots of good wishes to you all xx

YW sweet potato soup sounds just what i need today.

Sick day in the mm1 household. I dont remember being this ill ever. Bloody flu. I passed out earlier Sad luckily m doesnt have it (and I rewlly hope she doesnt) but dh and i are so rough.Sad Sad We were meant to be going out to our dive clubs annual dinner tonight and our friends' ham day tomorrow but had to cancel both.

PetiteRaleuse · 28/12/2012 12:08

Thanks all for your wishes xx

MissMummy1 · 28/12/2012 12:18

VQ I started giving M dentinox yesterday. Her face says it all... getting it into her is a total bugger and she's taken to putting her hands in front of her mouth and spitting it all back out again when we're not looking. As you say, thank god for.muslins! I've found taking her off my boob while feeding a few times and giving it to her in stages helps slightly. Failing that, hiding it in a bottle of expressed milk worked a treat! I just feel too weak to express anymore today. Sad I'm just about managing to feed her myselfConfused

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2012 12:38

I bet you are MM you are doing well to still be feeding her. I will try giving dentinox in small bits sneaked in past a nipple. We plan to try him on his first bottle of expressed at the weekend. Hope he takes it. DH was very good giving a daily bottle of expressed to the girls, but for some reason he has not wanted to with J. Still, added reason for me to stay off work longer Grin
