I love the muppet Christmas carol!

Feeling marginally better than yesterday but still not 100% by any stretch.

PIL are in town for Christmas so may take advantage of their wish for uninterrupted grandbaby time and take myself off to bed for a while.

Talk to me about poos ladies. Having had a massively constipated baby up until a week ago, p having 6 poos yesterday was a shock to the system somewhat. Also, she does the most incredible pant-rippers of farts. Like genuinely enormous. Is that quite normal? We were wondering if it might be a result of one of the meds she is on.

katkit1 · 24/12/2012 09:37

misslaughalot - thanks for the tv tip - this will be my goal too (looking forward to it)

TheDetective · 24/12/2012 09:48

We are muppet Christmas carol addicts here! We will watch this evening! Same as every year! Followed by the Snowman and Father Christmas! Along with our M&S feast mmmm!

Baby now in basket, in cot, in blackout curtained room. We will fool you child, oh yes we will! I think we have til 11... That will mean we have been in the bedroom for 12 hours. That seems to be his pattern at the minute. 12 hours (with feeds) settled night time sleep. 12 hours of awake mostly with cat naps unless we go out in which case sleep is more easily found!

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 24/12/2012 10:05

To all those thrush-sufferers:

What was the first sign?

My nipples feel a bit sensitive when pressed/rubbed, but otherwise I have no pain on latching or during feeding, they look a bit pink but that could be normal iyswim. I occassionally get a tingle/pin prick sensation in the nips & boobs, both during & after feeding, which is a bit like the electric shock type feeling of letdown but unrelated. DS doesn't have any symptoms whatsoever.

Breast pads seem to irritate my boobs, making them a bit itchy around the edge of the pad. I left my bra off last night sleeping on a towel just in case & was much more comfy.

Could this be thrush?

Thanks :)

TheDetective · 24/12/2012 10:20

Chunky I had those things you describe but definitely no thrush on boobs here.

Dp is pushing my buttons already. I've had to force him out of bed. He has a list of jobs to do this morning. Now Oscar is awake. DP has been downstairs for over 30 mins. Just shouted down to him to come and get the baby. He was eating. He has done fuck all. He could of got on with the jobs knowing he couldn't do them with the baby, he could have eaten a bowl of cereal (who takes 30 mins eating cereal?!) with baby in arms.

He needs to get a grip. He wonders why I get stressed. He has no common sense.

I now have to entertain a baby whole blow drying my hair??! I have 40 min to get me and 2 kids out the house now..... Do staying behind to get presents out the loft...

NervousReindeer · 24/12/2012 10:50

I would love to post the pic of Facebook but I don't have it Xmas Sad DP half remembered this morning bu can't remember getting in it lol

LO is really snuffly the last few days but alot more this morning, it's starting to disturb her sleep now, I hope she don't get poorly especially being Christmas te DRs are closed for days

Just about toget up got a list as long as my arms to so today so I want toget everything done this morning so can start cooking and relax this afternoon but no likely to happen

ValiumQueen · 24/12/2012 11:20

I need to wrap some more gifts and we are going to the crib service this afternoon. I am hoping J sleeps through it all but as it is the first appearence at church he is likely to be the main attraction. Need to take stuff to keep elder two quiet. I am used to feeding in church so not phased by that thankfully.

I have a 2yo who keeps taking her clothes and nappy off and a baby who is feeding non stop.

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 24/12/2012 11:25

detective thanks. I think my skin must be a bit over-sensitive & maybe my milk ducts a bit sensitive too after the mastitis? Surely if I had thrush, DS would def have, esp after the antibiotics? No bear-hugs for me then, given it hurts my boobs!!

VQ I sometimes wish my 2yo would take her nappy off. She's happy to stay in a wet one for HOURS & sometimes even a dirty one for a while... Yuck!!!

jenbird · 24/12/2012 11:25

Hi all,

Merry Christmas! Not had much time to post recently as has been manic here but trying to keep up.

I am def in the slack parenting camp. I would like some routine but it is impossible as we are never still for long. We will get bedtime established when the mayhem subsides. I co sleep and feed on demand (and whenever she is grumpy). I seem to be lucky that I have a sleeper. She doesn't seem to like being awake. She has a tolerance time of 2 mins before she is cross and fed up. It means that when she is awake you can literally do nothing as you have to constantly jig her or move about. I think she may have tummy pain as her poos are explosive but not big. She is still having between 10 and 12 a day.

My other dc's are on heightened alert right now. Hopefully going for a walk and then to my in laws for the afternoon and then to church for evening carols. That should tire everyone out so we aren't up at the crack of dawn!

Have a lovely day everyone x

Passmethecrisps · 24/12/2012 11:36

Excellent. Feeling awful turned into vomits. Mind you, I am now starving and have just polished off some toast. Fingers crossed I got rid of whatever it was.

DH has persuaded PIL to go with him and take P out on some errands. This means I have the house to myself for at least an hour and a half. Let's hope I have a miraculous recovery by the time they come back.

ValiumQueen · 24/12/2012 11:50

pass sorry you are unwell. Hope you are soon mended. In relation to P and her farts and poos, I think her little digestive system will take a while to adjust after all she has been through. Do you get her milk on prescription?

blonderthanred · 24/12/2012 12:02

Glad you are enjoying your co sleeper cot VQ. I love my bednest so much. So does L luckily!

Just wrapped my stocking presents for L, DH and I decided to do a sort of Secret Santa and buy him a few presents each for the other to unwrap as it seemed silly us shopping, wrapping and opening the same presents together!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 24/12/2012 12:37

Safely arrived in NI

Thought would have a rubbish night last night but miraculously he slept from 10:30 - 6:00 am, am amazed, must be the sea air! He did have a snuffle around at 4 but settled himself back to sleep befor I had fumbled with the milk.

Relaxing lunch in smart hotel looking at the sea, sitting by the fire. One very happy sophia! Xmas Smile

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 24/12/2012 12:58

Get well soon pass

Lucky you Sophia :)

blonder that's a lovely idea! Our DD was 8mo at Xmas so she could be somewhat appreciative of presents, & I guess she will help DS unwrap the few presents he has; he has got a vast number of hand-me-down toys from DD, as we deliberately tried to choose unisex toys for her wherever possible.

Sounds like a lovely afternoon Jen

I've just been thwarted in my attempt at wrapping DH's presents whilst DD is out with the GP & DH has gone to Bluewater Xmas Shock DS is a v hungry boy this morning after his long sleep over night.

Passmethecrisps · 24/12/2012 13:42

Managed to keep down toast ad had a nice sleep. Feel much better now.

VQ the milk is on prescription. We get 5 tins per prescription

And thanks for the poo/fart help. I think you are right as she has been better today.

Passmethecrisps · 24/12/2012 13:43

sophia that sounds lovely.

MissMummy1 · 24/12/2012 14:01

Sounds fab sophia.

Hope you're on the mend pass.

Had a lovely night out at a prexmas family get together last night. After being the centre of pass the baby all evening M was wired. Thought this would mean lots of sleep for us when she crashed but no. In the end I took her out in the car at 4am...

DP's work havent paid his paternity leave. Shower of feckers - everything they promised him when he joined the company has turned out to be a lie. Angry

But it's christmas. We'll save worrying about it till the new year.

Cacacaz · 24/12/2012 14:01

Merry Christmas everyone Xmas Smile

I very rarely had the chance to post on the ante natal thread and thought I would be able to keep up with the post natal thread, Murray has had other ideas though. My little man is doing really well at 6 weeks old today (where the hell does the time go) he was 7lb 15oz at birth and when last weighed, on Friday, he was 11lb 9oz [fshocked] which I think that was down to the marathon feeding some days he would feed 18 times and never less than 13-14 times a day. He seems to have been replaced with another baby for the last few days he has been sleeping more and feeding less, I'm sure infacol is a major contributing factor to this though.

I have managed to get organised for Christmas by the skin of my teeth roast beef is currently cooking in the slow cooker, all presents wrapped and I am sitting on mm with a sleeping baby. I have no idea how those of you with more than one dc manage to get organised.

I have my 6 week check later this afternoon what can I expect? and have decided to leave Murray with dh, they have a supply of expressed milk so should be fine, I on the other hand feel very apprehensive about leaving the little dude for the first time. I'm being precious aren't I?

My milk supply is something else I have needed to express the past 2 morning while M was fast asleep because my boobs felt ready to explode. I got 10 oz in less than 30 mins [fshocked] I hope I'm not doing anything wrong by expressing so much? I have the spectra pump, after izzys recommendation, money well spent IMO

pass I hope you feel better soon

vq I once nannied for a little boy who loved to remove his clothes and would often be found wearing nothing but his willies or mums high heels

I will try to catch up as much as possible, probably only with this thread though

StuntNun · 24/12/2012 14:31

That's a good long sleep Sophia . When do you get to see your house?

I think I'm just about ready for Christmas apart from last minute tidying so Santa knows we've all been good this year! Just need to put a bottle of wine and a bottle of Schloer in the fridge. DH made Nigella's chocolate ginger cake today and it is AWESOME. Obviously I can't do any dieting or exercise until 6 weeks is up which is conveniently on the 27th.

DH picked up my phone and read my last post then asked whether DH stands for Darling Husband or DickHead. Not sure how to answer that one!

DesperateHousewife21 · 24/12/2012 16:18

stunt say it depends what mood you're in!

Dd has been asleep since half 1, have been to tesco and sat on the sofa not doing much since!

Dh is now home til the 2nd Jan :)

glendathegoodwitch · 24/12/2012 16:42

Shopping all done - though half of it has to stay in the car as the fridge & freezer are fit to burst!! It's just the 5 of us apart from on weds & thurs when we have 2 x stepsons over so why do we always spend a fortune on a mountain of food??

Dh has buggered off to bed cos he didn't get in from work until 5am then had the arse cos I got him up at 9 to go to Costco -I'd join him for snooze but think it would be mean to leave dd1 on her own watching tv on Xmas eve - she's 7 and already in her new jamas asking every 10 minsvif it's time to put a mince pie out lol

What Xmas traditions (apart from the obvious ones) does your family follow?? The kids have new jamas on Xmas eve, we watch elf and they open a small prezzie, we have smoked salmon & scrambled eggs for Xmas day brekkie with champagne small glass this year instead of half the bottle

Bugger knows what time Xmas dinner will be served as dh is useless and all meals since dots was born have been cooked & served within 20 minutes lol

How do those who are following a routine cope with going out and unscheduled changes??

I'm concerned Dottie won't fit in her Xmas outfit - its first size and can tell by her face she's piling the weight on

GTbaby · 24/12/2012 17:00

caca on the off chance u check this before u go I 6 week check. U need to take LO with u. At my check they checked my LO more then me.
Ur appointment may be different but don't want u to have a wasted journey.

GTbaby · 24/12/2012 17:04

Glenda I try do things around my feeding routine so will leave earlier or later to ensure feed is on time.

ValiumQueen · 24/12/2012 17:19

Well, today I had an angel, a shepherd and a reindeer at the crib service. It was lovely! Why is it that in public the daddy holds the baby all the time? Thankfully j slept through it all and did not need feeding.

I am having a tiny sherry. First alcohol and it is yummy.
