that sounds exactly like N too - fussing all evening, asleep at midnight and then waking 4/5 hours later. Isn't it funny how they are all so similar?!

Peaky1 · 24/12/2012 05:48

Happy Christmas Eve all. My favourite day of the year! :-)

NervousReindeer · 24/12/2012 05:50

I just woke up to feed LO and the bed next to me is empty. Go into LOs room and DP is in her cot fast asleep lmfao

NervousReindeer · 24/12/2012 05:51

peaky I LO e it in Christmas Eve when all the shops are shut and you can't get any more shopping ect even if you wanted to so you just sit bs k and enjoy it

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 24/12/2012 05:57

How big is the cot/small is your DP nervous??!! Xmas Grin

Peaky1 · 24/12/2012 05:58

Kirrin I used to be gutted about the lost evening but you can't have it all! I'm very glad of the block of sleep he gives me now.

Unfortunately I'm struggling with DP who gets very distressed with all the evening crying! Well, J went ape during the day yesterday as we were driving back from shopping. He just woke up hungry but DP seemed upset with how screechy J got. Couldn't be helped but I've learned to just stay calm and get him fed as soon as I possibly can. It was only a 10 min drive, if that! In the evenings it's like the end if the world to him at the mo when J is doing the screaming routine. He just seems to look at him in dispair but pleading him to sleep. I think he's feeling a bit useless in those cases :-(. I would try to comfort but I need those minutes here n there to go to toilet/get washed etc! Anyone else feel like they're comforting 2 people?

NervousReindeer · 24/12/2012 06:03

My DP is about 6ft 4 and its a standard size cot bed, he was curled up to fit in it Xmas Grin I took pictures as evidence so he has to believe me tomorrow

Peaky1 · 24/12/2012 06:06

Haha Nervous that had cracked me up!

TheDetective · 24/12/2012 06:08

Wtf Nervous?! please please please tell mr you got a picture to plaster all over Facebook!!!

Were another one with just over 5 hrs between feeds. I'd like to say yay... But this means I'm the only one doing a night feed tonight. Chuffing DP has got out of it as next feed likely to be 8.30 and that's the time we are up for.

I knew this would happen! He did 24 hours of feed feed feed! Took loads all day long yesterday, less than 3 hours between feeds, awake most of the day unless I kept him on me napping for 20-30 minutes only :(

So it seems Oscar has had day and night sussed for some time. I wasn't sure if it was just luck probably is or not. He knows upstairs is for sleep and downstairs is cat naps only! He can be fighting sleep all evening but once we come upstairs that last feed and cuddle puts him asleep where he will sleep til the next feed is due. He also quickly figured out that me wrapping a muslin cloth around his neck = guaranteed food! And stops screaming like a banshee! They are clever these babies!!

Happy Christmas eve ladies! Can't wait to see all the Christmas day pics on fb Grin. We should all start an album on there so we can share all the cute/funny pics we manage!

There is likely to be a rant from me later today if I manage to get on the laptop! I'm close to breaking point about my recovery from birth. Not only do I have the pain fromthe epis site, but the constant thrush despite treatment is back again (bring going round and round with it since 38 wks) and to top it off I'm fairly confident I have a UTI. My bits just feel absolutely fucking awful. And I smell like piss. Thanks UTI. Have added codeine to the paracetomol/diclofenic mix :(

TheDetective · 24/12/2012 06:11

YES!! Pics please lol!!

Also xmas eve is my favourite day too! Better than Xmas day! Love the build up/anticipation. And yes that feeling when the shops close, and the feeling of calmness as everything stops...

TheDetective · 24/12/2012 06:40

I would like to inform you all that last night DP came home from work with £18 worth of free food Grin including a whole chicken! DP is in the good books... I may consider a Christmas blow job. If I get time! Grin

There are some small perks to working in a supermarket! Free, or at least extremely cheap (2p pizza anyone?!) food at the end of the day!

pikz · 24/12/2012 06:54

LO taken to kicking all covers then crying because he's cold. Where is the best place for grobags?

ValiumQueen · 24/12/2012 07:37

pikz ebay for second hand. They are expensive new. If you want new then TK maxx or supermarkets or matalan possibly. Car boots or charity shops to build up numbers. I got through 4 in one night with vomit and leaks.

Christmas eve is my favourite too. The anticipation it will be a good holiday without the disappointment of the reality. It always seems like an anticlimax.

Well, DS stayed in his cot aLl night. We met at the boundary several times, but the co-sleeper cot is a success. Again he snacked from 2.30 usually after being woken by a coughing fit.

Dixiebell · 24/12/2012 07:40

pikz, you can get baby sleep bags pretty much anywhere now, John lewis, M&s, primark...the grobag brand ones are nice, but pricey! Might start using ours soon actually. We took Teddy out in the baby Bjorn carrier for first time yesterday, he seemed to like it. Much more successful first go than with ds1 who cried constantly on our first outing with it!

kirrinIsland · 24/12/2012 07:41

peaky yes, that sounds familiar too. N often cries in the car, and I just tune it out if we've not got far to go, but DP just can't. He thinks I needs to do something. What? She either needs feeding, which can sure wait 10 mins till we get home or she just doesn't want to be in the car seat - not much I can do about that!
He was home yesterday evening (usually at work) and so witnessed the crying/fussing thing. He had her while I put DD1 to bed and handed her over as soon as I got downstairs! He tried to tell me she needs her mum, perhaps she wants feeding etc before finally admitting I just have more patience than he does!!
He does now finally understand, thankfully, why nothing much gets done at the moment. I was attempting to wrap presents and just couldn't - impossible with one hand and N wouldn't let me put her down for a second. I think he genuinely thought I was being lazy before he saw it for himself :(

detective that's a result! I think anyone working in retail over Christmas thoroughly deserves some perks!

kirrinIsland · 24/12/2012 07:52

Asda have them too pikz don't ripped off. Some places have them for a ridiculous amount - £30 or so. In Asda they are £10, you'll need at least a couple.
Also, make sure they are easy to get in and out of, so you can do it with the least disturbance. I had one where the zip started under her arm, rather that at the bottom, and it was a pain in the neck - fiddling about trying to get 1 part of the zip into the other right next to her woke her up every time. With the zip at the bottom she didn't even notice. And the 1 that zipped down the front was even worse....

horseylady · 24/12/2012 08:06

Another good night here!!!!

Hope you all have enjoyable Xmas eves and days in case I don't get back online to post!!! And that all the los behave!!!!

Have fun!!!!

NervousReindeer · 24/12/2012 08:12

Oh yes I got pictures Xmas Wink

DesperateHousewife21 · 24/12/2012 08:22

We all went to bed at half 8, all of us in our bed. Ds had a tiny nap yesterday and that was it he didn't go to bed. I was so tired (still am and I'm not sure it's completely normal anymore)

Happy Christmas Eve! Who still has presents to buy? Because I do, for dh! I need to get to Tesco/ Asda I know what I want.

When/ if ds goes to sleep later dh and I will be setting up his wooden train set so its all ready to play with tomo morning, can't wait to see his face!

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 24/12/2012 08:50

lane81- I follow EASY, after a feed if she's asleep I usually leave her for 10 mins to allow her milk to go down. I wind her then and change her nappy to wake her up. Once awake I entertain her until she starts to yawn or show signs of tiredness, then I Swaddle and put her in her cot with a dummy. She doesn't always fall straight away but is usually asleep within 15 mins.

At night you don't do the awake time so I just put her straight back in her cot after feeding and winding, sometimes she's already asleep but mostly she goes in awake.

PetiteRaleuse · 24/12/2012 09:03

Just decided to attack the cradle cap with vaseline with the intention of rincing it out this afternoon.

Slathered it on then realised I had mixed up the vaseline tube with arnica gel.

Better that than something toxic but a wake up call to pay more attention.

ValiumQueen · 24/12/2012 09:04

nervous pic on FB for us only? I am amazed a cot would not collapse under the weight. I heard of a similar thing when the dad was in the cot and so was the baby. I forget where. Either here or the Daily Mail.

I feel almost as if I have slept. Having DS in the side cot meant I could get comfy and relax to sleep properly. DH says he did not sleep. He sure snores a lot for someone who does not sleep.

misslaughalot · 24/12/2012 09:23

Morning all, another one who's enjoying their favourite day of the year too! Plus one of my all time favourite films A Muppet Christmas Carol is on channel 4 at 11am. Just need to get showered and dressed before then, can't let babylaughalot make me miss it!

GTbaby · 24/12/2012 09:32

Morning all. Kirrin my DH days the same thing. "H needs his mummy, he can tell its u, u have the special touch " Hmm very annoying.

However on a fab note Grin my structured feeding during day is paying off! 8 hours between feeds last night.
I still wake every hour to do a quick check panicking to see if he is ok yesterday my sis woke at 8am, or rather woke me up worried that he hasn't woken to feed.
Starting to feel a little more human.

Now just need to manage a shower Blush

Also det I keep meaning to say. A million threads ago u mentioned that ur lo baby clothes looked worn out after a few washes. It occurred to me as I have nothing better to think about that this may be caused by washing his clothes with his towels. It creates more wear on his clothes. Anyway. Hope this helps!

TheDetective · 24/12/2012 09:34

As predicted! He woke at 8.30 bang on cue... DP can do allllllllll the feeds tonight! Fair deal?!

I am now showered but trying to figure out how to get dressed. Baby asleep in basket in front of wardrobe! Hmmmm.

Someone has replaced ds1 with an imposter today. He was up before us, his bed made, curtains open, and clothes picked out for the day.

Fuck me! Just DP to get his ass sorted this morning then!

We are taking Oscar for his first cinema trip today lol! Could be interesting...!
