Just to say vq, I have fully prepared myself for the first birthday, I expect it to be enjoyable but for the birth to be quite a strong memory again. I was pleased yesterday that it didn't affect my day as it had done.

Evil not sure what you mean? This year were keeping the 'routine' fairly samey. Only because we've just settled into the nighttime routine so want to keep it going if we can. Thankfully were not going too far so it should be ok. For ds it will just be another day!!

ValiumQueen · 23/12/2012 21:05

I thought DD1 would act as normal her first christmas at six months of age. Midnight arrived and her little eyes pinged open and stayed open. She was sleeping through by then and was not ill. I think she just picked up on the excitement. My two are going to be to bed very late tomorrow.

Feeding DS in his swanky co-sleeping cot and I feel like I have my massive bed back again. DH is gonna be all cuddly though. Not really looking forward to that as still not fully redeemed himself from the other night.

detective that reminds me I must get my bedroom door fixed. It does not even close properly and the kids are getting older...

blonder hope you are feeling a bit better now x

daisychain76 · 23/12/2012 21:38

Well, if l say so myself, H was a pretty good Jesus in the Church nativity. Slept right through. l was feeling quite proud of getting us there on time, all looking smart and dcs knowing their lines. Then dh pointed out l?d had my top on back to ffront and inside out all morning, inluding when l went up on stage in front of the whole congregation to give H to Mary. I will never make a yummy mummy!

NervousReindeer · 23/12/2012 21:53

Xmas Grin detective I bet you never managed to keep a straight face

Lane, I was thinking that too. Teddy is always asleep by the end of his feeds. What do others do? Wake baby up for some activity time? When Ted's awake he pretty much just wants to feed too.

blonderthanred · 23/12/2012 22:15

Thank you so much for all the reassurance about clothes sizes. It makes a lot of sense that baby clothes sizes vary in shops just as adult ones do and it's good to know other babies are still in smaller sizes too.

I'm not sure how tomorrow will pan out with bedtimes etc Evil. I'd just better remember to hang the stocking on the cot or Father Christmas might not come!

mummytobe1990 · 23/12/2012 22:27

advice needed from some experienced mummys please!!

my LO is 2 weeks old and seems to throw up a rediculous amount! it used to be just after feeds in the night and mw said it was fine but the last couple of days she seems to be projectile vomiting during the day AND night regardless of when i fed her. I know babies throw up a lot but this just seems to be too much.

Am i just worrying over nothing or should i go back and demand they check her?

Elizadoesdolittle · 23/12/2012 22:28

blonder I know exactly how you feel. E is now just over 6 weeks old and still in new baby clothes. I looked at DD1's red book the other day and she was coming on so well with her weight whereas E is still nowhere near back to her birth weight. When we are out and people ask her age they always comment about how tiny she is for 6 weeks. I was convinced that she is still just like a newborn. However my mum saw her today for the first time in 2 weeks and said she is smiling and following things with her eyes. I was convinced she wasn't but when I actually took some time to look at her properly I realised she was. I had been so busy concentrating on her weight gain (or lack of it) I missed these mile stones. Please try not to let it get you down and get in the way of what is a very special time. I know it's hard, I feel like crying everytime E brings up milk, but I've now promised myself that I will not obsess about it so much. They really aren't newborns for long so cherish every second. And just think at least at least the newborn clothes are getting lots of wear Wink

Re having a third, I would love too. I am very lucky in that DD1 is a fantastic sleep and goes 12 hours every night without fail, so I'll see how DD2 gets on. I wouldn't like a small age gap though but I'm pushing 40 so can't leave it too long. I don't care if we have another girl, in fact I quite like the idea of 3 girls. We have the space so that wouldn't be an issue. Will see how I feel when DD2 is one and a bit. I felt really broody after DD1 but that subsided once the pregnancy hormones went. I think I'm going through the same thing again.

glendathegoodwitch · 23/12/2012 22:36

Pmsl @ detective

blonder babies thankfully do not come off a conveyor belt all doing the same thing - why do professionals panic? Another situation where the whole picture needs to be taken into consideration!! Hugs xx

I've got that prickly yucky taste in the back of my throat that you get before a cough/flu sets in :( everyone but me n dots has had it so thought we'd escaped!!!

Can't believe we've spent £200 in m&s all for a couple of days and we've still got to go to Costco for buffet stuff incl their yummy cakes

Sat here trying to weigh up the whole nursery vs childminder decision - thought I was set on a day nursery but then worrying about them not taking Dottie out for fresh air etc.... Wish we had a nanna or sister or even good friend locally so I wouldn't feel so guilty and torn!!

Right gonna try get Dottie in her crib - hope we all have a good night xx

PetiteRaleuse · 23/12/2012 22:39

Re baby clothe sizing. I have noticed that clothes bought from British shops are bigger for the same age as those bought in France. So something from La Redoute or Vertbaudet will be for three months in France but something for three months from Next or M&S will be much bigger.

katkit1 · 24/12/2012 00:34

I was 7 wks prem at birth and teeny - I'm a whopper now with size 8 feet

ValiumQueen · 24/12/2012 01:23

Co-sleeping cot is going really well. Very odd being on the other side of the bed though. DH keeps resting his arms on me so I am gently folding them back into his space. I am not one for the intertwined sleeping. By invitation only!

Gonna try to shoe-horn DS into his reindeer outfit today to save tears tomorrow. After a rocky start he is getting fat like a christmas turkey.

ValiumQueen · 24/12/2012 01:25

1990 it is worrying you so get it checked. Mummy knows best, and if it helps you worry less it will be worth it. I hate it when they are sick.

ValiumQueen · 24/12/2012 02:34

Feeding for over 2 hours! Come on son, go to sleep! Still we got to sleep before midnight which is a rarety. Making up for it now I guess.

Ahhh bad call on my part damn it ! Did a feed at 12am and she went in Moses basket straight away. Thought I heard her poo 2hrs in so made the call to wake her.... Argh it wasn't a poo just a smelly fart!!!! Now she's wake!!!! Feeding her to try coax her to sleep , first attempt for Moses basket transfer just failed. Now back on the breast for second attempt :(

NervousReindeer · 24/12/2012 03:39

My DD is 9w and still in newborn ATM

daisychain76 · 24/12/2012 03:43

Eliza l am the same ~ get hugely. broody just after having each dc. DHw ies adamant we are finished at 3 now tho and logically l know it makes sense. HV told me you should avoid concieving again within a year of a c section anyway, so l am trying not to think about it but l doworry about H not having a playmate. Ds1 is 8 and dd nearly 6 and they do entertain each other, even if it involves a lot of arguing at times.

1990 I second what vq says I was told by a dr that projectile vomiting should be checked out as a precaution.

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 24/12/2012 04:46

Definitely not complaining, but after doing 4hrly feeds last night, DS has just gone 5.25hrs since the start of his "last" evening feed!! Xmas Shock He did feed for a long time then (from 11.15 until gone 12) so I've only had ~4hrs sleep, but the fact that this was in 1 block means I feel great, apart from the massive boobs...Xmas Grin

KissysUnderTheMisteltoe · 24/12/2012 04:59

Exactly the same thing here chunky LO went 5.25 hours between feeds! Smile

KissysUnderTheMisteltoe · 24/12/2012 05:06

We did have a feedathon for most of the evening though so she must have filled herself up, I really needed the sleep so not complaining either Smile

Dixiebell · 24/12/2012 05:11

Ow ow ow! Teddy keeps on clamping down on my nipple, only on the right hand side. It's soooo painful. Why?! I fed Ds1 for 15 months and in that whole time I think he bit me once, why is this one giving me grief?!!

Peaky1 · 24/12/2012 05:33

The same happens here. It seems to be his pattern for now. He battles feeding and struggles with trapped wind between 9pm and midnight (if I'm lucky) then he's knocked out until 5am ish. He whinges all night with trapped wind but I've learned the hard way not to wake him!

Peaky1 · 24/12/2012 05:46

Dixie that has happened a few times to me, which resulted in me yelping and taking him off to sort whatever the problem is. In our case it is always trapped wind/straining to poo so he holds his breath and yanks as he writhes about. If he did it all the time I'd have to switch expressing more to keep my nipples intact!
