Yes glenda, I often have one of those babies. More so in the evening but occasionally at other times of the day/night. Infacol has helped it a bit though.

I know what you mean pass, I have just google diagnosed DS with whooping cough!

nervous, white spots can indicate thrush or, if it is just one or two spots at the roof of her mouth, can also indicate an incorrect latch - where your nipple actually touches the roof of the mouth and runs a little. If you don't have thrush in your nipple and she doesn't seem to be in pain then I'd have guessed the later.

Yes to all those saying they can't watch anything sad about children. I've got that too, it started when DS1 was born and never went away. It all seems to real to me now and too easily relatable. The Norway massacre last year affected me hugely and knowing this, I've not actually read or watched anything about the recent event I'm the US (can't even type what really happened as I'm welling up). Feel pathetic and disrespectful by not knowing what happened but I just know that emotionally I can't cope with it ever right now.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 23/12/2012 04:52

After each one I have really missed being pregnant but not this time. I don't miss it at all but whe I broached the subject of not haing anymore DH was a bit on committal and was not defo no more which surprised me. But I think I am done. Anymore would just be greedy!

NervousReindeer · 23/12/2012 04:59

My LO likes to play nipple tug of war too Xmas Sad not the most comfortable thing in the world

We bath LO every couple of days but find she sleeps better after a bath and were trying to get some sort of night routine otherwise she's awake till 1:30am so tonight we out her in the bath for 10min for just s kick

I want another when LO is around school age, I found being pregnant hard enough without a LO to manage to and the hours DP normally works ill be doing 95% of child care as he works mostly 7 days a week from about 10 till 7:30 sometimes later so I want LO to be abit older so its easier

Thanks for the advice for the white spots, DD doesn't seem in any pain so I think it could be her latch Xmas Sad not sure we know how to do it any other a way but ill give it a whirl

The only thing I miss about being pregnant is feeling the movements and kicks

LO went 5 hours tonight!! 5 hours Xmas Shock I'm still in complete shock ignores the fact that LO is now WIDE away and showing no signs of sleep and we have 3 transfer fails under our belt

Is anyone not bothered about any kind of routine?! I'm not fussed on routines anyway but I won't be thinking about it for a while yet. I'm going by his lead at the minute and it seems to be ok. Well, he sleeps at night once he has fed! So far, touch wood! So I don't want to rock the boat!

I'll probably think about it when he is 3 months, unless I need to sooner.

Thanks VQ! Made me giggle... A Detective baby, like an M&S baby...!

Baths - when necessary here. He has sensitive skin so bathing makes it dry. Top and tail when necessary too. He isn't a particularly mucky baby unlike his father actual ROFL, just typed that and then he bloody went and projectile vomited (up in the air - impressive!) everywhere! First time he has done that for me (DP has had it 3 times now Grin ) so he has now been washed and changed! Teach me for saying that, won't it!!!!!

StuntNun · 23/12/2012 06:36

I don't have a routine for J yet as I have enough to manage with DS1 and DS2. They put their pyjamas on at 7:30 then have supper (toast at the minute but sometimes yoghurt or biscuits or fruit) and a big glass of milk. DS1 reads to himself and DS2 has a story read to him. They have to be in bed by 8:30 and the lights are turned out by 9 at the latest. The timings are a bit flexible because they're older but they're always in bed with the lights out at 9. I used to put them to bed half an hour earlier but now I'm not working they can get up half an hour later as they don't have to go to the childminder before school. I'm going to let J find his own pattern over time before I try and fit him in with everyone else. When DS1 was a baby he would wake early but go back to sleep for a long nap at 9. It would be great if J would do the same so that he would sleep when I get back from the school run.

We're going to see the PIL today which I hope won't be awkward. Apparently they were 'perturbed' on Wednesday because I assertively put my foot down about DH going to collect my BIL from the airport. It was the principle of the thing really, I need him here focussed on me and the children, not running around after his family doing things for them. I also don't like his casual assumption that he can plan to do whatever he wants and leave me to cope on my own. If he wants to do that there has to be some tit for tat. His parents were very old fashioned - he was the breadwinner and she looked after the kids, did all the housework and held down a part time job. Fine in principle but when FIL was made redundant and out of work for a couple of years, she still did all those things. I think DH has the idea that that is the norm and he is doing me a great favour by doing any housework or looking after the kids, honestly you would think he's waiting for a medal after he's done some ironing or vacuuming!

Oh and I meant to agree with PR about the age gap. Once they are 5 they become a lot easier to manage: they can dress themselves; they take themselves to the loo; they can play by themselves for a long time or watch a film; they sleep through the night; they'll behave if you go out for a meal (if they have a Nintendo DS). That's when you won't want to go back to sleepless nights and nappy changes.

It's really windy here, I hope Santa's sleigh won't get blown off course tomorrow night. He might not make it to this house if DS1 and DS2 don't tidy up their room!

That is so true aabout the age gap stunt. On routine, l just cannot work out how to get all 3 dcs to bed at appropriate times. Jjust thinnking. about it makes my brain hurt!

thedetective l have been stopped by a huge amount off people since. having H ~ it is nice, but they always ask how old he is and l always end up having to explain he was premmie (he looks nowhere near 3 months). At one point l seriously contemplated a sign on the pram alonng the lines of ?yes, he is tiny, he was 7 weeks early, yes he is good for me ?!

Eexciting week here ~ H started smiling properly at last and today all 3 dcss are in the church nativity with H being baby Jesus! I have just had a niightmare about Mary dropping him tho!

NervousReindeer · 23/12/2012 07:18

Just up for the 2nd feed ofthe night Xmas Grin

We get stopped by alot of people too but in completely shocked at how many people try and touch her face Xmas Shock I wouldn't dream of touching a strangers child and they always look abit taken back when I move the pram slightly so they can't

ValiumQueen · 23/12/2012 07:34

There is no perfect age gap. So many things can happen that may delay conception and each family is unique anyway. I have a bigger gap between 1 and 2 due to birth trauma, then house move and mat pay qualification period. No.3 was planned for sooner but I did not get pregnant so we decided to stop at 2. Hmm. Best laid plans eh?

I was concerned with each pregnancy that I could not be that lucky again to have a healthy child. I was convinced my eggs were too old and we had both prepared ourselves as best as we could for problems.

We knew regardless of how the pregnancy and birth went that we would not have any more and now he is here, I could not feel more complete in terms of reproduction. He is my cherry on the top.

Had a fair night. Two coughing fits. No vomit. I slept but no idea how long. I have stopped clock watching as it was getting me down. He has mainly snacked after feeding until 11.30 last night. He has not snacked that much, about 4 times and we have both nodded off quickly. I love co-sleeping and want to continue so we are adapting the cot today and moving furniture etc. It means swapping sides of the bed which will be odd after so long and I will have further to walk to the en-suite. The kids will wake daddy first too so that is a bonus. I hope it works out ok.

As for baths I am pleading the 5th amemnant wotsit. He has not been well but he is always clean. Honest.

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 23/12/2012 07:58

I am so totally unsure about whether I want a 3rddc. My head is adamant "no" house too small, financial implications, my age, impact on DD, impact on future lifestyle etc etc but my heart isn't saying anything concrete. I don't have a 'gut feeling' either way, but then, I've only ever wanted 2, its my DH who's wanted more, & my broodiness snuck up on me with TTC DS. It was DH that wanted to TTC DD, I just didn't say no...Blush I got :( putting the clothes DS has grown out of aside to be packed away, but felt the same about DD's pink stuff after DS was born. It would be silly to have another one just to use the clothes again. We'd have to have another 2 & be certain of one of each!!! Xmas Hmm

We bathe DS once a wk, but I top & tail him as needed. He likes it so might try to do it more but he was v dry skin-wise & my DD used to get v dry skin in the winter, exacerbated by baths. It seemed daft to bath her daily just 'because' then slather on the aquaeous cream, when we could bath every other day.

Had 4hrly feeds overnight. Now if I could just get myself to bed earlier, I'd be getting better sleep!!

StuntNun · 23/12/2012 08:05

I definitely wanted a smaller age gap between mine but by the time we decided we wanted a third it then took two years of ttc. So even if we decided to go for a fourth we would have to accept that it might never happen and be content with our three lovely boys.

horseylady · 23/12/2012 08:07

I'll not say how my night went!!

We have no day time routine, he sleeps when/if he wants. Feeding is the only 'ordered' thing but that is pretty much dictated by him.

I was thinking of starting one after Xmas but am now thinking around Easter when he'll be around 5/6 months and starting weaning. That gives 3 months for him starting uni.

This week is the first week I've not gone over the birth in huge detail on the Saturday. And been thinking 'this time 8 weeks ago I was....' I only did that a couple of times. So perhaps it's starting to fade. I could now think about having another one (maybe). Dh wants one sooner rather than later. Due to his age (I'm being serious this time!!) so well see. I don't think it will be in the first year, maybe by ds 2nd birthday well think about trying again?! I hated being pregnant too. And labour. And not being able to bf. But I love it now. I think it's lovely. I think he's lovely.

3months till staring nursery.

Bloody hell.

Poor child.

horseylady · 23/12/2012 08:13

Lane - my work had an 18month waiting list. I put his name down when I was 14 weeks (I think) by 26 weeks he had a place for next summer! So they might not be that bad!! Plus people put down for full time and only go part time etc.

4 days. I plan to work 30 hours initally. Will see after a year.

Can't see that changing tbh. I want to spend at least 3 days with him!

katkit1 · 23/12/2012 08:31

glenda - same here, baby pulls on my nipples like a piglet at his Mum - really chowing/chewing/pulling argh! I think he's just going to pull it clean off.

katkit1 · 23/12/2012 08:35

DH washes and dresses baby every day - it's his bonding time (thank god) they spend time in front of the wardrobe planning. I really couldn't do that on top of everything else. If I was on my own then baby would stay in pj's (probably) and would have a top and tail wash

Bluetinkerbell · 23/12/2012 08:51

Auch woken up with the beginning of a UTI, :( trying to flush it by drinking lots...

No routine here, L drinks and sleeps on demand. She'll hopefully settle into a routine when I start working again in 8 weeks time...
She tends to wake up between 2 and 3 for a night feed and then again early morning, so there is a pattern emerging.
Baths only twice a week, sensitive skin her too. Topping and tailing as required. I'm using reusable wipes, so bottom gets cleaned every nappy change.

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 23/12/2012 08:54

DD has decided she wants to wear pants not a nappy Confused

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 23/12/2012 09:41

Bit worried I might have thrush now. The only symptom I have is slight tingly nipples, maybe a tad itchy. A doesn't seem to have any white patches in his mouth, no nappy rash, I don't have any other symptoms, not even pain during a feed. Don't want to make a mountain out of a molehill but equally don't want to find I'm really poorly on Christmas & can do nothing about it iyswim.

blonderthanred · 23/12/2012 09:42

horsey that is so great to read and very touching.

I definitely want another (actually I'd like two more...), main problem is money but I'd like another before I'm 40 so will have to be in a year or so, first one took a year of ttc and was having probs with ovulation so who knows if/when it will happen.

Passmethecrisps · 23/12/2012 09:45

Good luck with that chunky!

I woke up in the night with horrendous acid reflux. It was agony - thank goodness for left over gaviscon. Anyway, I now am not feeling well at all. I feel on the edge of a tummy bug.

Still a bit concerned about wee P's eating. When we were discharged w were told to aim for approx 400ml per day. She has been managing this. When we went for our appointment on Friday the Dr (who we hadn't met when she was in the hospital) said we should have been aiming for 600ml. Now, she was exceeding the previous target but is some way from the new one. This is what was stressing me out yesterday as all he seemed to want to so was sleep. It was a fight to get her to Take anything. However, by the end of the day she has still exceeded the previous target.

I am rambling but in essence I am concerned she isn't eating enough am still.
