kirrin I'm the same, I just have time to wipe down kitchen/ cook/ put on washing. She'll only sleep well on my bed so have to get her to sleep there which isn't easy with ds jumping around.

She's been asleep for nearly 2 hours now :)

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/12/2012 13:55

X post! petite yes I def feel like that because its alot easier to relate. That story of the shooting in America the other week was awful I felt so sorry for those poor parents, right before Xmas too :(

Sophiathesnowfairy · 22/12/2012 14:00

Detective that is poo service someone else said it, but why do these grumpy non customer focused people get those roles? Keep us posted. In the meantime is there another Tesco to try?

Kirrin DH I have prioritised kitchen over bathroom and the whole house is rather embarrassing tbh. I hate it like this, but with Christmas, birthdays's, a new baby, and DH hanging around the house a lot that is the way it will be. Exacerbated by the fact we are in a small rented house while we are building so we have too much stuff anyway.

So next job......squeeze all the pressies, bizarre collection of clothes that fit me and all of us in the car for our Christmas exodus to Northern
Ireland......... And I will be getting a tour of my new house while we are there....whoop whoop Xmas Grin Xmas Grin Xmas Grin. Even if there is only foundations and I will have to wear Wellies rather than slippers.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 22/12/2012 14:05

Oo and I have just opened the Christmas Baileys! only one small one though while I finish off some wrapping.

ValiumQueen · 22/12/2012 14:17

sophie exciting seeing the house. Look forward to hearing all about it.

PR I agree. The American tragedy really upset me as DD1 is the same age and bears an uncanny resemblance to one of the girls who died. I was really angry with her that day and felt awful. The details they give in the reports are unnecessarily detailed I think. In my work I work closely with social services and prefer to work with children who are not the same age and gender as mine. It is hard enough anyway without a direct comparison. Last Christmas I was instrumental in providing evidence and expert opinion that resulted in a child being removed on Christmas Eve. That was horrid, but I know I do my job much better having had children of my own. The vulnerability and need just does not register the same when you are not a parent. In my opinion. It is a horrible world we live in, and we cannot do much to change that, but we can do our best to make sure that these little souls who have been entrusted to us get all the love and care they deserve. That is much more important than having a tidy home.

PetiteRaleuse · 22/12/2012 14:51

You are right VQ. The 24hr news culture where the public are always wanting more more more updates means these events are reported in horrific detail, and so intrusive I find for those who are unfortunate enough to be involved.

There is one advert about kids waking up on the streets. I have to leave the room Sad

MissMummy1 · 22/12/2012 15:42

Bloody SIL! Was meant to be here this morning. Then it was 2pm. They phoned at half 1 to say they were just leaving (2+ hour drive away at least). They still aren't here. Would I be a total bitch to just go out?

ValiumQueen · 22/12/2012 15:58

MM yes you would be a bitch to go out if they are travelling that far. Did they say why they were late?

TheDetective · 22/12/2012 16:28

How the fuck do you get metanium off willies and balls?! Seriously. Oscar is not looking good down there... Poor mite! Nappy rash and crusty nads. Lovely! It just doesn't come off!!

ValiumQueen · 22/12/2012 16:48

If it won't come off with a gentle bath do not worry. It does stain the skin, and any crusty bits should soak off ok.

MissMummy1 · 22/12/2012 16:54

They are just really disorganised. It's always the same. And they weren't coming to see us, they're just dumping their car on our driveway while they fly home for xmas.

It's fine. They turned up at half 4. Stayed 10 mins then got dp to drive them to the airport...

kirrinIsland · 22/12/2012 17:13

petit I actually cried watching news of the American shootings.

Exciting stuff Sophia - bet you can't wait.

ValiumQueen · 22/12/2012 17:32

MM you would not have been a bitch then. That was very inconsiderate of them.

NervousReindeer · 22/12/2012 17:39

Argh think in about dead, been out since 9:30 and just got home feeding LO then need to out shopping away. I don't think I've ever seen so many people in asda

PetiteRaleuse · 22/12/2012 17:46

I rarely cried at anything before but I do now. I was in floods over the US shooting and again when Obama made his speech.

kirrinIsland · 22/12/2012 17:46

belgrano that's interesting, I didn't know that. I'm still going to make N go a bit longer between feeds though!

nervous you're brave!

Passmethecrisps · 22/12/2012 18:00

Aargh! P is not in an eating mood today at all.

NervousReindeer · 22/12/2012 18:38

My DD has some white spots on the roof of her mouth, anyone know what they are? Don't seem to be bothering her

Passmethecrisps · 22/12/2012 18:47

Thrush nervous? It can clear up on its own. Are you in pain?

BTW, fuck you google search. Google sleepy 6 week old and here I am trying to wrap Christmas presents and reading about a baby going into a fuckin coma. I am a twat

pikz · 22/12/2012 19:11

Step away from google pass... Step away.

Babypikz actually slept longer than 15 during the day today. We actually got to DTD. Think DP still in shock!

Boob a lot better and no temp since this morning so hoping heat and keep emptying and it will go. I don't know what I'd do without you lot.

katkit1 · 22/12/2012 20:33

peaky - I feel like this. Is he really mine? Where did he come from? Everyday I think this. Not sure when it will become normal that he's here. It's like a big surprise that we have this baby despite having 9 months to the very day to get used to it.

katkit1 · 22/12/2012 20:38

StuntNun - brilliant description re: nipple thrush

This is just how I felt and looked. my nipples are scarlet the infection gets worse feeding goes from ouchy to cheesegrater to broken glass.

On my second week of meds and looking and feeling much better - more importantly I can feed again without crying.

TheDetective · 22/12/2012 21:16

Finally on the laptop woohoo! Hate phone posting!

Another long day. Christmas is really passing me by this year, despite me frantically trying to pull it all together! Did the food shop. Arrived at Morrisons at 1.30. We didn't get out til 5 fucking pm!! Yes Oscar, I really enjoy spending an hour and a half feeding in the bloody cafe! Had to feed when we got there, even though he had fed before we went out. Then again before we left!! Had to go to Asda after that as couldn't get everything I needed!

Anyway, despite getting absolutely pissed wet through and crying at the pain in the fanjo owwwww , and finding ANOTHER leak in my car (drivers side door...) it went fine. Tell you what though, getting around any shop where with a pushchair is just an utter nightmare. Am hoping its just the time of year that means I can't get around because extra shit has been crammed in.

The car was piled high with food. It really isn't big enough for us! Just about managed with 2 children, pushchair (just the frame, put the car seat on it) and a weeks shop. Couldn't of had DP in the car too! I have to take the pram frame because I just can't do those stupid fecking trolleys that you put the car seat on. At 5ft 2, I absolutely can not see over them. I tried one and cried, it hurt because I was constantly bobbing my head around each side. People just walking randomly in front of it, and stuff that had been put in small displays in middle of aisles, well that just got crashed in to... I just can't see a thing over the top!

Got stopped loads by people cooing over Oscar. What is with that? I have never done that! I have a look and smile and think oh what a cute baby or whatever, but I've never ever gone up to anyone else with a baby and started asking questions or whatever! Not that I really mind, but it does make getting around rather lengthy at times!!

Thanks VQ it just looks a total mess down there Confused. I've soaked him in a bath, and sat him in a small bowl with just his bits and bobs dangled in the water...Blush but nothing worked! I thought about a little olive oil to get it cleaned and moisturised - there is dryness as well as the rash. He's got very sensitive skin. We only use cotton wool and water, and he gets changed loads. So not sure why this is his second bout of bloody nappy rash. Grrrr.

I am going to get festive. Tomorrow. I swear. After I have done the ironing and wrapped the rest of the sodding presents. Xmas Grin I usually love christmas! I think I am just too tired this year!

Although I've just remembered DP is at work all day again tomorrow. He doesn't usually work sundays. Just in December. Boooooooo!

I just want to go to bed now, but there are dishes to be washed, and a pile of wet washing in the machine which will need hanging.

Does anyone else seriously worry that they are a foggy mess?! I am normally quite a sharp person, good memory(ish!) loads of common sense etc. Right now, I am wondering who this person is who has taken over my brain! I was so tired when I was driving I was worried I would miss stuff, if you know what I mean! Think I should stay out the car!!
