I've been chosen to trial the breast pump! :) my poor boobs need a treat Grin I've got a black bruise all around one nipple where young man decided to attempt latching by himself in the night again.

gardenpixies32 · 07/12/2012 13:14

I really don't like strangers touching my babies. I would never touch someone elses child.

Am a bit worried. My friend visited yesterday with her 15 month old DD. All fine, however, she rang me this morning and said her DD is covered in chickenpox! I phoned the GP and he said there is a 21 day incubation so DT's may have chickenpox over Christmas (fsad). What are the chances of them not getting it?

gardenpixies32 · 07/12/2012 13:15
Xmas Sad
kirrinIsland · 07/12/2012 13:39

Yay tits I'm very jealous - of the pump, not the bruise!

Fingers crossed your DTs remain pox free pixie

N is having a feeding frenzy - 3 hours in and no sign of stopping. It's a bit dull now!

ShellyBobbs · 07/12/2012 13:58

Oh just been catching up and read about pooing. I pooed the same day, but since then I've developed a massive pile and it is really painful Xmas Shock

Titsalinabumsquash · 07/12/2012 13:59

Ditto Shelley Blush I fear the toilet now!

ValiumQueen · 07/12/2012 14:29

Very Jealous tits. Of the pump anyway.

shelly you are looking a bit jaundiced. DS is resisting the cot, but he is not well so I will let him off.

garden fingers crossed they do not get it. At least you know it may be on the horizon. Cold comfort I know x

6 week growth spurt here. Bit brighter today.

DesperateHousewife21 · 07/12/2012 14:33

I hated people groping my bump but luckily no one has touched dd without asking or obv don't mind if they're family/ close friends but even they ask!

I'm so tired today, had a good night but feel more tired today, how is that fair??

DonnaDoon · 07/12/2012 15:09

Garden I know your DTs are very young but Im sure in the worst case senario they catch it, then Im pretty sure it wont be as bad as you imagine ..in fact they will probably get it very midly like my friends baby did when he was 4months ish x

PetiteRaleuse · 07/12/2012 15:18

Back from the cardiologist. LO's heart murmur is still there, and slight. Basically one of her valves isn't closing completely but this is common for the age and she thinks it will close itself over the next few months. The paed will keep an eye on it, but it is benign, and probably won't cause any trouble even if it doesn't close.

Which is nice to hear.

Lots of snow here. Took us almost two hours to drive to the doctor who was 20 km away in Luxembourg city. We have winter tyres but lots of people were caught out and the traffic was awful (rush hour in Luxembourg is bad enough on a snow free day anyway).

More expected over the weekend which will be perfect as DH is going to get the Christmas tree tomorrow Xmas Smile

georgee · 07/12/2012 15:21

garden have you had chicken pox? If so they should have some immunity from you that will last a few weeks. I thought DD might have been exposed in my last couple of weeks of pregnancy so I found this out. I also second what donna said about them getting it mildly - that seems to be what can happen when they're v little.

Not much to report here - DD has gone with her grandparents to visit her cousins and it's v v quiet!! I'm hoping by the time she gets back that my infection will have cleared up and that I'll be up to wearing actual clothes, rather than pyjamas, during the day. Midwife popped round this morning and said my stitches area was looking better, which is a relief. Not a great night with us - although James spent the first hour in the moses basket, the rest of the night he was pretty much latched on to me. I can sleep like that but it's not ideal. I have no worries that I'll squash him but I doze at best really. I tried to do a proper sit up and feed in the hope that he would then go back to sleep but that didn't work and to be honest I'd prefer to feed lying down because sitting hurts at the moment! I'll try and get a bit of extra sleep in during the day while DD is away (she's back on Monday).

Another one up for a Scottish meet up once Christmas/Hogmanay is behind us!

horseylady · 07/12/2012 15:36

Gt - as I said and everyone agreed, depression is odd, but treatable without pills. Talking helps. Online is ok but knowing someone in rl is there is brilliant.

Pass - yes he sleeps in it day and night. Less in the day as were out and about but nighttimes so much better since using it.

Lane - omg seriously?! Saying that the hat comment got me yesterday!!

Garden I hope they're ok.

Ds has been sick today. He bought up some breakfast which has been normal after sleeping with all His mucus. But he was sick in the car. Wed been for a good walk so wondering if it was travel like sickness?!

Passmethecrisps · 07/12/2012 16:17

Good news petite. My sister discovered she had a heart murmur when she got pregnant. It never caused her any difficulties so noone ever thought to look.

I left the house! Ok, DH came too. But I have breathed fresh air!

I called the health visitor about P's wind and constipation.
My actual HV is part time so I spoke to the other one. I am not a happy mummy. The HV was really concerned about P. I described the poos and she was really shocked. I have told my HV twice about it. She has gray plug like poos which we need to physically remove for her before se can go on to properly empty her bowels. It is the texture of wool. I told my HV this and she just looked at me an said oh dear. Her colleague was full of advice but really insistent that the problem needed addressed today. She reckons P has a problem with the formula. This is likely to be the cause of her wind as well.

I am totally hacked off because I directly asked my HV twice if there was anything I could do and was this normal. She just stares at me!

Anyway, I am repeating mysel because I am so hacked off and I feel bad for not taking action myself before.

Right, I am off to Sainsbury's for more formula as all of the other stuff has had to go in the bin. I was told not to feed her a single other bottle bit because it sounded so bad. Poor sausage! She is sound asleep in my arms now. Do I take her with me for our first solo expedition or leave her here with her sleeping daddy?

horseylady · 07/12/2012 16:20

What have you been told to feed pass? I stood In boots today and read all the ingredients. Decided they were all the same!!

Your choice as to whether or not you take her with you!! I'd go alone given the choice!!

Bad day/night yesterday, feeling crap, ended up sending Oscar downstairs with daddy at 9 this morning because I was beyond exhausted. Told him not to wake me for 3 hours and to give him formula if he needed to. I just couldn't function any more.

4 hours later, I am still knackered but at least I'm not hallucinating Hmm and can remember what I am doing. Sleep deprivation is a fucker.

So Oscar ended up with 60mls formula down his neck, and my boobs don't seem any worse for 5 hours between feeds. He has snacked all afternoon on them any way, probably fixing my supply that I broke by sleeping this morning Grin.

Going to express for tonight in case similar happens.

Zzzzzzzzzzz. Really wish we could feed lying down. Really really really wish!!!

Good job he is so damn cute, otherwise I'd crack up now!

Passmethecrisps · 07/12/2012 16:29

She suggested either Hipp Comfort or Aptimel Comfort. She says she has had success from both formula with babies with similar issues. I am thinking about Aptimel as this is what she had at the hospital and for a while after until she was expressed breast milk fed. I am not keen on sticking with Hipp after this. They claim to be more like BM due to the probiotics in it. However, to keep the probiotic nature you need to mix the formula at 40oC. This is just too cold for me - it comes in a cardboard box with no proper way of sealing the box. Even trying to be as aseptic as possible I think it is impossible not to introduce bacteria which then won't be killed at teh water temp.

DH is snoring with his legs on my legs. P is snoring stretched across my lap. Cat is snoring next to the radiator. Hmm.

TheDetective · 07/12/2012 16:30

Pass, what were you giving her?

Not all formulas agree with every baby. Can be trial and error. But give it a few days on the new one before switching again as switching can be just as bad for their tummies at first.

TheDetective · 07/12/2012 16:31

Did she have Cow & Gate? I find that tends to give more upset tummies. Although it is what we have as a back up for Oscar!

YellowWellies · 07/12/2012 16:31

Oh pass that's awful! Poor wee soul - useless HV! Good luck on new formula

TheDetective · 07/12/2012 16:32

Ahh, ignore me! She had Hipp! Try the Aptamil if she was okay on this initially!

Passmethecrisps · 07/12/2012 16:32

We were using Hipp Organic. HV reckons a good few days on new one before seeing improvement. We were trying to give the Hipp a good go because she had quite a lot of changes. However, that's been over a week and no improvement.

Passmethecrisps · 07/12/2012 16:34

Thank you. I certainly doesn't help my hamster wheel of guilt that is for sure!

I really don't like my HV. Had you guessed? All she does is weigh P and remind me to do my pelvic floor exercises. She doesn't even seem to like babies very much.

horseylady · 07/12/2012 16:39

The only difference between hipp and the others is the word 'organic' so it depends whether or not you believe in that.

The other additives are the same as aptimil, SMA etc.

Hope it works changing.

TheDetective · 07/12/2012 16:57

Hamster wheel of guilt - Love it! Suffering the same ailment here Wink.

Did I mention moan about my car here yesterday? I hadn't driven it for 2 weeks. Had been asking DP to start it, especially with cold weather etc. Had he done it? Had he balls. So we get about 2 seconds down the road after all the faff of getting his lordship in the car seat etc etc, and it starts struggling, oil light comes on. Stop, open bonnet. Oil dipstick and cap will not be budged. Then there is water dripping everywhere. In the boot the spare wheel well is full of water with a rusty wheel...

Oh, and the car is definitely too small for the 4 of us plus pram and shopping.

I need a new car.

Can't afford a new car.

Bugger.
