Priscilla that's awful. The sugar water is an analgesic BUT if you're bfing, they should have got you to feed him as the sugar in bm has the same affect (so I was told on Fri when A had his tongue tie cut).

Candy I try to wind after every feed because he gets quite a lot & it will a) wake him, b) disturb me with his grunting & groaning and c) if he's windy he faffs about at the next feed, coming on & off like mad until he burps.

Shelly Wish I could shower & wash hair in 4mins but our shower is shit; the pressure is pathetically low & it takes 10mins just to wet my densely thick generous hair.

detective don't feel bad for being upset - you're tired & hormonal and men just do NOT get it. Hugs.

CandyPop · 11/12/2012 19:18

LO was very efficient at farting out wind in the first few weeks but not so much in the last couple of weeks hence the need to wind. Her burps are sometimes like man burps (the ones after downing a whole pint type of burp!)

vq so if your LO is asleep after feed do u wake him up a little ?! Ah...l seems ashame to wake them up but yes you're right, the wind will eventually wake them up!

The 'don't you dare wake me up eyes' do make me laugh. Bit scary sometimes as I'm expecting a sleeping baby but you look down and her eyes are piercing right through you!! Haha

priscilla that's awful. My LO has jaundice, think its finally just cleared in the last couple of days. She's just over 4 weeks. We have our review 2mo. The advice I was given was to keep feeding minimum once every 3 hours. Also during the day if it's sunny, to put her near the sunlight. Was told if she was feeding well, pooing and weeing (the right colours - ie. yellow seedy poos and light yellow urine) then it should be fine. I let you know 2mo if my hospital is giving the same lead time on results.

Passmethecrisps · 11/12/2012 19:22

You don't know what you're crying for detective? You are exhausted, hormonal, confused, frustrated, guilty, your DP is being completely unsympathetic and you are having to hide upstairs because people feel the need to be in your space.

TheDetective · 11/12/2012 19:24

I'm just praying they go sharpish. I forgot they were coming. I've forgotten most things today.

It's just been a shitter of a day all round really. Pain has come back down below when sitting/standing/lying down. Spent most of the cooking session shut away in my mums office feeding, man walks in and my mum gets all horrified despite my protests. Everyone laughs at man and starts joking about it.I feel like just crawling away and crying again . Got stuck in traffic coming home, took 50 minutes, and yes, Oscar was awake and crying. To be fair his crying was probably the only thing stopping me from falling asleep at the wheel. Then when I walk in DP is sat playing some stupid fecking game on his computer. He doesn't say hello, doesn't acknowledge us in any way, let alone offer to help. Bearing in mind there is the pram, the car seat, changing bag, plus all of DS's stuff from staying at his dads last night to bring in the house. And he got snappy with me for pointing his lack of help out!!!

And now he is finally asleep, someone has woken him up...

I just want to run away and hide.

TheDetective · 11/12/2012 19:26

Please do Fatima!

PetiteRaleuse · 11/12/2012 19:33

Detective, you are what? Two, three weeks after a tough birth? Your DP needs to understand that oyr hormones are quite frankly fucked for weeks post birth. If there are feeding stresses too that won't help. Have a bath or a shower, and plan some you time (I hate that expression but it's the only one that fits). Plan it for tomorrow, or next week, or next month, whenever you feel you can handle it. But plan it. A good three or four hours where you will not be feeding, or nappy changing, or looking after any one but yourself. Could be a walk, or a drive, or a coffee with friends. Anything. And once it is in your diary, and fixed, then you can look forward to it.

YellowWellies · 11/12/2012 19:40

Oh Priscilla that's awful! I second Horsey Jonas' results took 4 hours each time when it was just for billyrubin levels. Maybe liver function tests take longer but that seems very long.

Detective hugs. Don't make any decisions about feeding in the dark - it always looks worse at night. Speaking as someone who regularly restarted smoking after I 'quit' it was always at night at the end of my tether and in the cold light of day I kicked myself. I've found this article really helpful during our growth spurt mania theawakenedparent.org/2011/08/08/breastfeeding-surviving-the-first-6-weeks-guest-post/

For all those worrying about the growth spurt - don't assume it'll land exactly at 6 weeks - ours arrived at 6 +5 so it might not arrive with a bump on Christmas day!

TheDetective · 11/12/2012 19:53

Just taking it a feed at a time.. My boobs are covered in tears. Which means Oscar is also currently having my tears splurged on him.

Visitors have fucked off. Thank fuck.

I am going to bed. After this feed....

TheDetective · 11/12/2012 19:54

It's ok to sleep in your clothes isn't it? Seriously CBA getting up.

TheDetective · 11/12/2012 19:54

Splodged. Stupid iPhone.

FreddieMercurysBolero · 11/12/2012 20:00

Thanks Vq. He has been keeping up the green poos but seems fine:). Arf at blue poo, Dh called me in a flap when DS1 had an...interesting poo. I hadn't told him he had kiwi for breakfastGrin

priscilla:(. How can doctors treat little babies like that? How you and lo are ok.

Candy- I don't always burp, unless he is showing signs of discomfort. Feck waking him, that does NOt happen!
Detective, sorry you're having a bad day. Tell your Dp to help though, sometimes I find DH doesn't just realise, and he's not a mind reader.

Lovely day today, got my walk on the beach, a 20 minute one, but a walk all the same:). Ds1 is being so good and helpful, he seems like a lot less work now DS2 has arrived. I'll probably be eating my words tomorrow though!

Feeding on and off since 5.15 though and god I am hungry! Oh well it means I may just fit into a nice dress for Christmas....

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/12/2012 20:04

Trying to catch up on thread, missed a fair bit! Ds still being a horrible 2 year old. We're all suffering from lack of sleep I think.

I seem to sleep solidly from 9ish to 2ish then get no sleep from there til getting up eventually around 7pm.

NervousAt20 · 11/12/2012 20:21

YW that was a lovely link and very true

I'm feeling better today freddie thanks for asking Xmas Smile

candy I always wind my LO, she often comes off the boob mid feed with wind and once it's up she's happy to carry on feeding, if she's zonked I sit her upright and sometimes she'll bring it up but still be more asleep then awake and other times nothing, she has suffered with trapped wind alot so I always try and get hers up

Oh pris that sounds awful your poor little boy, I can't believe they wouldn't let you feed him throughout Angry I really hope your results come back ASAP

Aww detective make DP get rid of your visitors then throttle him xx

We're having LOs growth spurt at 7w3d it started and it is a nightmare, DPs out and LO has been feeding for an hour and a half and I'm starving but can't make anything Xmas Sad

StuntNun · 11/12/2012 20:53

I wanted to say to you Horsey that it is almost entirely down to luck whether you can breastfeed. I have had three children: the first actively refused the breast and would have starved rather than latch on but loved his bottle from day one; the second seemed to feed okay but had terrible bowel problems and would never take a bottle even after he self-weaned; the third feeds like a pro despite a difficult birth and tongue tie. They all arrived with their own situation and there was only a limited amount of difference I could make. Maybe I could have overcome the problem that DS1 had with latching on but I tried and tried and got more upset and depressed and it just isn't worth going through all that. We managed to find a way to feed him but it wasn't what I wanted. I remember running out of a cafe in tears because a woman was breastfeeding her baby and I was so jealous of her I couldn't stand it. I'm certain Etienne is thriving and you're a happier mummy for ff. I understand the guilt that you feel but it needs to be tempered with the knowledge that events conspired against you. I hope you'll be able to put it in perspective. But keep talking on here, it's important to have sympathetic listeners to help you to move on.

priscilla101 · 11/12/2012 20:53

Thanks everyone, he has had a lovely big feed and is snoozing on his beautiful new lamb skin, so all ok here. I am shattered from the emotional/hormonal roller coaster, but DH is giving me a foot massage so I am starting to relax. X

FatimaLovesBread · 11/12/2012 21:45

Quick question, has anyone returned something to mothercare for s bigger size without a receipt? DHs family got us loads of things so I wanted to change a pack of baby grows for a bigger size but not sure if the receipt I have us the right one.
Also got two jackets they bought that I don't like, I have the receipt for them, will they let me refund to a gift card or will I have to exchange for something else?

M is feeding like a good in tonight, she'll have 10 mins in between then scream for more. Bit worried about taking her in to work tomorrow in case she goes from zero to starving and screams the place down. Think I might express a bottle in case

Detective can you have words with your DP or hide the Xbox? he could really do with stepping up a bit with you feeling so poo. But leave it til tomorrow, relax in bed tonight.

blonderthanred · 11/12/2012 21:52

YW that's a great blog link.

Detective I think weeks 3&4 are particularly difficult because of the growth spurt and the post-birth-euphoria comedown. Also there is less support than immediately afterwards. I cried a lot and I didn't know why. Keep going and take all the great advice and support on here. ??;4./,

(That last bit was DS, think he is trying to join in)

ComradeJing · 11/12/2012 22:31

fFS re marking my place to come back and say hello properly later.

CandyPop · 11/12/2012 22:34

detective you're def not alone. I think we all had a cry or two (or three!). It's a big adjustment having a newborn in our lives.
Sometimes I can't help feeling, even tho its 'our' baby, ultimately she's my responsibility and dh is helping me with her rather then its 50/50. Don't get me wrong , dh doesn't see it this way but doesn't stop me feeling like this and this feeling can be overwhelming and almost isolating (especially during the nights when I'm doing the feed alone and in the dark....and I'm tired .....
BUT would I change her? No way cause it only takes one smile or her pulling a funny fart face to make it all worthwhile :)
Just remember you're not alone and there are plenty of us out there who completely understand and sympathise with u. Hope u feel better after a well needed rest x

Ohh on a seperate note.... LO has grown out of her newborn clothes and now in 0-3 months babygrows .... She's just over 4 weeks... She's growing fast... A little bit sad that I have to start packing away some of her clothes already!

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 11/12/2012 22:52

We are having yet another feeding frenzy here..I'm so tired but keep telling myself its going to get better.

ValiumQueen · 11/12/2012 22:54

DS has nearly outgrown his 0-3 at nearly 7 weeks. Lengthwise not girth you understand. Unlike his mummy.

Passmethecrisps · 11/12/2012 22:59

Damned trapped wind. We've at this for an hour

NervousAt20 · 11/12/2012 23:03

candy I completely get what you mean about feeling like LO is ultimately your responsibility especially at the minute with do having 2 broken hands, he can't cuddle LO without me putting her in his arms Sad I don't understand how men can just go out aswell the thought of me leaving LO just makes me feel awful inside so how men do it so easily I'm not sure, maybe it's because they have to go back to work so soon to get use to it?

LO feeding again she gave me over a. Hours rest thankfully so I managed to get some dinner and finished the wrapping I started my living room is a mess though so not looking forward to waking up to that in the morning

I went to a breast feeding group again this morning and wax talking to a really nice women and LO was awake staring at me and she said you can see that we have a great bond which made me feel so good and proud

NervousAt20 · 11/12/2012 23:04

VQ my LO was in ring baby clothes until about 5 weeks and is now 7w4d and is in most of her newborn stuff but not all if it fits and almost a week ago she was 9lb 3iz

TheDetective · 11/12/2012 23:28

Thank you.

After some sleep I feel slightly more human again. The leaking seems to have stopped. For now. Grin
