Oh another quick question - to dies who breastfeeding... Donu wind ur baby everytime after a feed ? I do when she's awake or half sleepy but when she's completely zonked after a feed , is there any point?!

CandyPop · 11/12/2012 17:32

those*

YellowWellies · 11/12/2012 17:52

Candy some babies sleep MORE in a growth spurt - sadly not my DS. He too has got "don't you dare put me down eyes"!

Just get a stack of books and don't schedule anything too challenging and you'll be fine. Hope for the best and plan for the worst.

ValiumQueen · 11/12/2012 17:53

candy I wind every time except when feeding lying down as he rarely gets wind then. If showing signs of wind though I get up and wind him. Better out than in, and trapped wind is likely to wake them later IMO

glendathegoodwitch · 11/12/2012 17:53

I am petrified as Dots is 6 weeks on Xmas eve - wonder of I can wrap prezzies, cook dinner, play cluedo and build a dolls house while bd???

The blog is lovely to read but as much as I'd love to hibernate and just stay indoors feeding and being with Dottie I've still got to do the school run, riding lessons, shopping not to mention the things that are on the back burner such as showers!!!

detective hope you're ok flower? We miss your many posts x

YellowWellies · 11/12/2012 17:54

I don't wind J after most feeds - he doesn't seem to need it anymore - I'll only do it if he's struggling. He seems adept at farting now!

MissMummy1 · 11/12/2012 18:06

Aww yw so sweet of her! Grin J was very good with tilly, it was lovely Smile . i cant wait for jonas cuddles either!! after all our errands, a visit to your sisters and a hike to tesco and back (we left the car there) i am broken. so sore and tired. need to get my finger out and express some milk as little m drunk this mornings supply when we were out - then i can sleep. Sad

ShellyBobbs · 11/12/2012 18:15

Candy Big lol at 'don't you dare put me down eyes'. That is one I'm going to pinch Xmas Grin

I don't plan to go anywhere until at least after Christmas. The only thing that I do have to do is go to Manchester Christmas market as I've promised the kids, I don't even like going shopping due to feeding. I've got 2 Christmas plays to go and watch next week, so will certainly will be getting the girls out to feed Tommy through that, give the dads something to stare at :)

Tommy's 6 week growth spurt falls right at Christmas, fantastic, getting them out when everyone is here......

priscilla101 · 11/12/2012 18:17

Oh, just had a horrid time at the neo natal blood clinic. We were referred because LO is still a bit jaundiced (4 weeeks old). I have sobbed through the entire encounter, because they struggled to get blood out of Arlo's heel, so pricked him 4 times. He screamed and screamed and screamed. They would nt let me hold him or feed hm through it. The Doc gave him sugar water without asking or checking, in fact I had to ask what it was. They barely spoke to me and I had to press (through my tears) for more information. The results take 4-6 weeks to come through, possibly longer, because, I quote "the doctors won't be looking at the results over Christmas". Unbelievable. So if my son has a problem with his liver function, or an infection, they won't find out as quickly as they could because it is Christmas????

I am. So cross. He cried proper tears. I have never seen proper tears from him. Ever.

ShellyBobbs · 11/12/2012 18:19

Glenda I too have the school runs to do. I do a massive feed from 7am, then a mini one at 8.10am and we are out of the door at 8.30am bang on. I am showered, have washed hair and make-up on too Xmas Grin I never knew that I could have a shower and wash my hair in under 4 minutes!

ShellyBobbs · 11/12/2012 18:22

Oh Priscilla that sounds awful, it's disgusting! My older son had the same thing and they got blood eventually out of his hand and many, many attempts. He too cried real tears (he was 3 weeks old) and is something I'll never forget. Have you been advised to feed, feed, feed to kick start liver? I was given this advise and luckily we narrowly avoided a hospital admission.

horseylady · 11/12/2012 18:27

Glenda how's the chook?! My new ones have finally started laying!!

ShellyBobbs · 11/12/2012 18:28

*The feeding advise was only because I was breast feeding, it wouldn't apply to ff

horseylady · 11/12/2012 18:30

Priscilla I was told after all ds jaundice tests that the results took 4 hours?!

priscilla101 · 11/12/2012 18:34

Thanks shelly I am breastfeeding, but no advice at all given, I had to ask if there was anything I should be worried about or if there was cause for concern, but I was told that as long as he is otherwise well, there is no cause for concern. Which seems a bit counter intuitive if they are taking lots of blood for testing. I also get cross when HCPs ask if be is feeding well and I reply that he is, but when they weigh him they say, ooh, he is feeding well. Er, I know, I just told you that...

I think I am a bit hormonal and in lioness mode...sorry!

priscilla101 · 11/12/2012 18:37

horsey the initial test that the midwife did was about a 4 hour turn around, but they said today, at the hospital, that I may not hear for at least 4 to 6 weeks....as you can probably tell, am not really impressed with the appointment...

Sophiathesnowfairy · 11/12/2012 18:47

The cherry coke ham recipe is half way down the page.......not sure if it's online anywhere, I have it in Nigella Feast ( when it s not propping up the Moses basket!!Xmas Grin]

TheDetective · 11/12/2012 18:56

I'm just lay upstairs crying.

There are visitors downstairs.

I can't face them.

TheDetective · 11/12/2012 18:57

I don't even know what I'm crying for anymore.

PetiteRaleuse · 11/12/2012 18:59

Who is there Detective? You can stay upstairs, but don't cry.

horseylady · 11/12/2012 19:01

(((((hugs))))) detective xxx

TheDetective · 11/12/2012 19:03

MIL and someone they work with.

DP just made me cry even more. 'I know you're tired but so am I and I'm not acting like this'. I'm not sure how I restrained myself. Probably lack of energy.

And SOMEONE just woke the baby. FFS. Angry

pikz · 11/12/2012 19:09

detective get DP...throttle him and then ask him to get the visitors to leave. Hand him Oscar and go get in a hot shower. Stand under it and have a good cry because sometimes you need one. Then get on your comfiest pjs, pour a small glass of wine/ a tea and tuck yourself into bed.

I know our babies are the same age. I had exactly this all night Saturday and most of Sunday. I'm still a bit wobbly even now. I still can't breast-feed as he still needs lots of practice and using know how to find the time in between appointments, expressing, sleeps and ensuring he's had enough he isn't starving and becoming incensed before trying and my boobs aren't so full he can't feed. It's so hard to know what all the right things to do are so do what is right for you and Oscar the same way I will for me and Luc.

Big massive cuddle

glendathegoodwitch · 11/12/2012 19:10

Awwwwww detective hugs for you and a hanky - can you not get rid of visitors?? Tell them you feel ill?? Then phone someone (BFF?) and have a good old sob whinge moan and rant then snuggle up in bed!!! Hope the cloud shifts soon x

priscilla how awful - hope mummy cuddles made him feel better - I'm soooo not looking forward to Dottie's injections :(

I'm still bloody livid - dh comes in from work and takes D for a cuddle she whinges cos she's half way through a feed so gives her back, sits on iPad - once she's finished feed I put her in the basket and go do the washing up and cook dinner cos the bloody fairies have gone awol - half way through dinner she wakes up and goes from sleep to starving in 20 seconds so dh asks if I have a bottle for her??? Wtf for the past 4 weeks I have bf and given her a bottle at 10pm - where has he been,??

Sitting on the sofa feeding no one will find the TiVo remote to unpause the tv so have stropped off to bed with Dottie humph!!!!!

FatimaLovesBread · 11/12/2012 19:11

(((hugs))) detective
Shall I come and clobber your DP for that comment? Angry
