I've been told that a BF baby drinks 150ml of milk per kg of their weight in a day. But other than that, fatima I think its def a how long is a piece of string thing.... I've been freezing whatever I collect.

I didn't DTD until about 6wks after DD because (to quote my darling DH) "it was a bit of a car wreck down there" as I had LOADS of internal stitches. However, it was fine. Fewer stitches this time, so once the bleeding has finally, fully stooped I might consider it...

Luc is 7lb 6oz and bottle fedon purely expressed due to his tongue tie. He is 13 days old and takes about 3oz a feed. I was told by lactation specialist that anything from 2.5 to 3.5 at his age and weight was normal. She said by week 4 he should be on 4oz.

What chunky said. With formula I go on 150 to 200 ml per kg for the day.

Def growth spurt, he just downed 6oz in 20 minutes. 3 hours after 4oz. He's exactly as he was 2 weeks ago. He usually eats between 3 and 6 oz in a good half hour every 3.5 to 4 hours. He's getting too big :(

Aw horsey, they just get better and better as they get older! They certainly don't stay small for long!

I'm going to brave the outside (about 2 degrees today) and take them both to the park using the sling.
Haven't used it for dd yet and ds was older than 4 weeks when I bought it so never used it with a newborn. Stupidly didnt try it at home first but think I know what in doing!

Hi everyone, just checking in now that I've graduated. I'm so happy yo be home from hospital and Bronwen is feeding and sleeping really well. My milk came in this morning so she's nice and full up.

Pikz our babies are the same age and weight .

I am showered and dressed and hair done. Managed some foundation and a bit of vaseline for the lips. We are now feeding again! Going to try and get out after this feed!

Feel like a new woman today!!

Dottie must be a right lil piggy as she sups 4/5 ozs of either aptimil or ebm before bed at 10pm after at least an hours bf and she sleeps through til 5 am

If the rest of the day goes ok and Dots goes to bed ok I'm going to make dh's day by dtd!!! Luckily I was intact thanks to Dots being very dainty so think its time to get back on the horse so to speak - I want to have the depo provera injection but have been told to wait til gp 6 week check??? Will be strange seeing as the last time we dtd was the day before I had her after my sweep and I couldn't see him for the huge bump in the way lol!!!

Oh crap. I have a really constipated baby again. Poor wee sausag keeps yelping out including in her sleep. Don't know what else to do for her.

well after saying she was fine after jabs this morning I now have a sleepy baby who doesnt want to feed and has very sore thighs where the HUGE needle went in ...poor little mite

Day 4 and my boobs felt really full so had a bash with breast pump, more curiousity than anything. Pumped off 60mls (2oz) in 5 mins! Sooo much relief afterwards.

Can I give her this? If so, when - before/after/instead of feed? I have no idea how much she should be having and have just been bfing on demand until now.

I hope that I can build up a good enough supply that daddy can give her 1 or 2 bottles a day and if I need to go back to work early she can continue to be bf.

I am sooo clueless!

Feel like crying. Been feeding since 12. Now we can't go out as no time before school finishes. Give up...

MM get your DH to give it to her tonight instead of one of your feeds, preferably in the evening time when your supply is lowest so you don't get overfull.

mm I give Dottie her top up of ebm before bed as it gives me 5hours of sleep and is helping to differentiate between night and day - and yes you can give baby what you've just expressed or store it in fridge for upto 8 days!! 60mls in 5 minutes is ace - it takes me about 30/40 minutes to get that!!!

detective awww I feel for you - Dottie has been feeding since 11 and is still on though she's napping but goes nuts when I take her off, got to get ready for clinic and school run soon!!

detective I have achieved doing what I wanted to do on one occasion and he is 6 weeks old today. I find the only chance I get to go out and do something nice is in the morning as school pick-up comes around so fast. What with illness and other things, plus being shattered, I am not achieving anything resembling a life. In a few weeks though, things will be a lot easier. When DD2 was 6 weeks we were camping, so all I had to do was feed and watch DH and DD1 muck about... it was lovely.

In a shit mood again.
However managed to have a shower as I put LO in bouncer and took him in bathroom with me. He has now been awake since 11 n will not go down for a nap n crying now.

MM sounds like Tilly's suckiness has done the trick and got your milk in by the bucketful. Well done ladies!!! I second the suggestion for your DH to give her the EBM by bottle as the first night feed (Ads gives Jonas 100ml at 11pm) - you should slope off to bed an hour or so before and that way you'll get a head start of sleep on her. I'm managing 5-6 hours unbroken this way. Well, when the wee man doesn't have thrush.

Got the cream and tabs from the chemist. Am a bit fecked off as they've given me a super low dose of the fluconazole - 50mcg once a day for 7 days - what's the fecking point.... should be on a loading dose of 150-400 a day and then 1-200 per day thereafter for 10 days minimum (according to NHS guidance - do Docs not read or just assume they know everything?).

Do I confirm my hissy bitch status and ring and challenge the dosage? or just take it and be unsurprised if it doesn't work....

Oh if you want to give the EBM with a feed - it depends on what type of milk it is. Had you recently fed Tilly i.e. in last 2hours - in which case it's likely quite a lot of hindmilk which is the calorie stuff and also knocks them out. If you'd not fed for a while it's likely foremilk so good to quench thirst but too much of this would lead to green poos so I wouldn't give it and then offer a boob full of foremilk too if that makes sense? Go onto kellymom for more info..

And if you don't want to introduce a bottle just yet - freeze your EBM. Just remember that the more you pump the more your body will regularly produce so it's not a permanent solution to engorgement.

Anyway DH is off a night shift and still on bed. I'm very resentful of his sleep. Spesh after spend all day in bed yesterday with a bloody headache.

Already spent an hour crying today. N trying really hard to snap out of it. Nothing is working. Not even venting here.

Oh GT that sucks. If my DH did a 'headache' stunt like yours I'd have his nuts. Can you not give LO to DH for an hour or so? It sounds like you need to get out of the house and get some fresh air x

Hi seymore, this has been the same for us - non stop nipple munching - left me sore - I don't take my bra off when I shower (just sort of shower around that area because I can't bear my nipples being touched by the water) - they're getting better now but almost non stop feeding has taken its toll. Baby is starting to feed for 10-30 mins now instead of the hour so things are getting better.

GT put baby in pram and take him out. He will sleep, DH can rest after his night shift, you get fresh air and a break. Grab some food first, or out. If DH is working tonight too, He needs his sleep. If not, give him baby when you get in.

VQ you are always the voice of reason! GT I second this - even if you just head to a supermarket or something.

Wee P is sleeping again after what seemed like a very painful lunch. Between her thrush and constipation poor wee sausage is turning herself inside out. Spent most of the morning giving cuddles so have only just showered and dressed. DH had no boxer shorts this morning so I have just stuck on a massive load I washing as well - strangely p never runs out of clothes!

Speaking of clothes, P is growing out of her current lot of clothes but doesn't seem big enough for the next size up. She has been wearing a mixture of small baby, first size and newborn clothes. The best fit now is a sainsbury's up to 1 month set. I have been through her 0 to 3 month things and found a couple of things which look small enough not to drown her. She is 8Ib 9oz at 3 weeks - what would you ladies dress her in?

I have given the OSFA another shot today. Booster in the correct place and a paper liner. Seems pretty bulky though. Not sure I have it on correctly. Also realised I should have washe them all 3 times first. Ah well, we will get there eventually. I figured Sod's law would determine that a sure fire way of making her poo is to pop her in a badly fitted washable nappy! I would happily wash her poo.

Also, I meant to say, DH is concerned that I am in the house so much. Personally, I am not at all fussed about going out. The weather is awful and p and I are still settling into a routine - one which keeps being interrupted by stuff like poo and thrush.

I said to him that I would start worrying about leaving the house next week when P is a month old. Is anyone else quite happily cuddled in the house? I think I must be weird for not needing to leave the house.
