I love that top, stunt, hmmm, cheeky Xmas pressie for myself...?!

rowingdowntheriver · 09/12/2012 10:36

Thank you for all the reassurance and advice re colic. It helps knowing there are things I can try which might settle him.

I spoke to My mum earlier (a nurse) and she further reassured me that often little babies are brought into the surgery with colic/stomach problems when it is actually caused by a cold as when babies have colds often the lymph nodes in their stomachs become inflamed causing them pain. L has a stuffy nose at the moment so I am hoping that it is just that. FX it fixes itself in a week or so.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 09/12/2012 10:43

I think that will look smart stunt

horseylady · 09/12/2012 10:43

Another question - those of you with babies around the 6 week mark, how much are they sleeping?!

A typical day varies between

7am feed, change. Sometimes he sleeps for 20 mins again, sometimes he's just awake.

We then get in the car and do the horses, he might nap, he might not.

10.30 to 11, feed and change. He will invariably be awake until I feed him again about 2.30. He might sleep when I walk the dogs in the sling. He might not.

Then we go to the horses again, he tends to sleep at this point, ESP if he's not slept in the day. But yesterday he was pretty much awake as long as I was with about three or four 20 minute naps.
He's then fed about 6-6.30 he rarely sleeps between then and bath time then it's feed and bed. About 10 to 10.30

So I'm not sure if I need to start introducing official nap times. The routine he's fallen into has been guided by him tbh. He does have sleepy days. Then he has very very awake days when he doesn't seem to sleep at all.

He's fairly happy, Im happy going with it at the moment but does he need to get into a pattern for naps? I assume he sleeps when he wants and that the 20 minutes he has are enough are those days when he's just awake?!

StuntNun · 09/12/2012 10:45

It was reduced in the Debenhams sale Dixie...

horseylady · 09/12/2012 10:54

I can't get google images to work!! If you google Hobbs astor dress floral there's a dress in images (it's the first one on mine) with geraniums on it quite pale coloured.

YellowWellies · 09/12/2012 10:59

Lovely dress horsey - I'd need scaffolding to get my boobs and belly in that though Grin

I keep treating myself to lovely clothes that are entirely impractical for BFing... got a fab dress and realised I'd have to lift the skirt up to wear it to feed. D'oh....

FatimaLovesBread · 09/12/2012 11:08

We had a good night! Finally went down about 11, up just before 4 and just before 7 for 15 min feed then 15 min cuddles then went back in her basket then she's been up since half 9.
DH is back at work tomorrow so we're going to have to shift to going to sleep after her 9pm feed rather than her 11pm feed.

My nips hurt in the cold and I get the electric shock when they're full and need to feed

glendathegoodwitch · 09/12/2012 12:19

Ahhhhh glad I'm not the only one who feels it when it's cold!!!

Just been to the loo and I think my period has started Shock Dotties 4 weeks tomorrow and I thought I'd have a bit longer without that hassle!!! Can I use tampax?? Everything feels ok down there or should I wait til I've had my 6 week check?? What exactly does the gp do at the 6 week check?? Is it just a chat??

FreddieMercurysBolero · 09/12/2012 12:23

Hi all:)

sucessful night in the fmb household, baby slept from 2.30 until 7:15! Feeling well rested now.

My first full day with both DSs went well, i almost lost the head with ds1 a few times but bit my toungue. And have resisted turning on the tv until now, despite ds1 asking me several times since 8 o clock!

Cat - hope your sister is ok today.

Stunt - i'm not sure I'd wear jeans, depends on how formal the reception is?

Horsey - i wouldnt worry about a routine at this stage, as long as you are giving him the opportunity to sleep and he is not cranky it doesnt matter. I wouldnt bother trying to stick to a routine until they are five or six months tbh.

StuntNun · 09/12/2012 12:29

Apparently DH's idea of looking after the baby is to put him down in his cot to sleep then go outside to wash the cars.

The last 2 days Matilda seems to be sleeping in 4/5 hour bursts. Awake, changed, massive feed and then sleep for 4/5 hours again. We occassionally get 30mins awake time for playing in amongst that. Is this normal? She's 6 days old (Yes I am worrying that my newborn baby sleeps too much instead of enjoying it...)

ValiumQueen · 09/12/2012 13:36

MM I am sure come this time next week it will be a different story Grin

stunt bad daddy! Also, I would go for dressing up black leggings or trousers rather than jeans, unless they are cowboys and having reception in a barn (might be my age)

DS puked again this morning with coughing. Really upsetting me. It is just going on for ever. He is not wanting to feed now, but no temp and still peeing ok. I am just terrified it will develop into pneumonia.

In-laws here. Brought lovely gifts for J and the girls, and biscuits too so they were allowed in. Have not been able to put J down, so house is a tip, but loos clean.

ValiumQueen · 09/12/2012 13:38

horsey no routine here. Being ill has delayed everything unfortunately. I think you are doing really well with him.

StuntNun · 09/12/2012 13:43

They're maybe not exactly jeans - they're a jeans shape but in a pinstripe charcoal cotton material rather than denim. I'm not quite sure what I'll do but our shopping trip yesterday was cut short by the demonstration / protest at Belfast City Hall so I'll have to go back in to finish my shopping tomorrow. The 'peaceful protest' unsurprisingly turned into a riot eventually. Who would have thought there would be so much uproar about a single flag?

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 09/12/2012 14:04

glenda if you're bfing its unlikely to be your period ( unless you 're supplementing with formula or using a dummy loads). Could it be the lochia starting up again?

I thought mine had stopped then at 3wks it came back a little more. Now it's really p**sing me off as its a bit too heavy for a panty liner but too little for a pad, more like stained discharge but I don't feel "fresh" iyswim. No idea what to do about it though. I don't think I have an infection, but equally it seems every time my cervix opens, I get an infection, so who knows??!! A is 4wks today.

TheDetective · 09/12/2012 14:04

Help!

Can only get on here on mobile by clicking back on browser. I see others are posting... It isn't showing up on threads I'm on or in the postnatal club section for me?

What's occurring?! I've been banned haven't I Grin

TheDetective · 09/12/2012 14:10

Wouldn't use a tampon yet. See if you get another period after this one. It is easy to mistake an increase in lochia as a period! I'd wait for the second period to be sure!

I'm exhausted. My plan isn't going, well, to plan. Oscar took 100ml ebm this morning after a bf and still wasn't satisfied :( I'm so tired! But I'm struggling to nap! I don't think he likes ebm... Either that or DP is doing it wrong lol!

Plan to go out scuppered. Will fester on sofa instead. Looking like a tramp.

I'm still sans pad from last night. Enjoying the freedom!

MissMummy1 · 09/12/2012 14:16

Oh probably vq - worrying aside, the 2 lots of 4hr sleeps last night were lush! I'm even feeling relatively calm about the inlaws coming! Despite their flight actually getting in at 3pm and not 7pm as I was told... buggers. Grin

They've suggested going out for dinner tonight. Don't know if they mean just dh and I while they have M or all 4 (+1) of us. Anyone braved a meal out with a 6day old? Are we mad even contemplating it?!

TheDetective · 09/12/2012 14:41

DP just got me on here by googling the thread, so now on laptop. But I still can't see the thread any other way!

TheDetective · 09/12/2012 14:48

Hooray, fixed now! Think DS had hidden it, GRRRR!

Passmethecrisps · 09/12/2012 14:48

Detective, has it been hidden?

TheDetective · 09/12/2012 15:12

Yup! Bloody kids!

I keep having to pick dog hairs off my nipples. Hmm

And bits of popping candy/toast crumbs/cream splodges from Oscars neck creases. Grin

I've got a permanent tit dweller again today. Harry Potter dvds to the rescue!

kirrinIsland · 09/12/2012 15:27

How's your sister today cat ?

That outfit sound fine to me stunt - I wouldn't wear normal jeans to a reception but what you're describing sounds fine.

glenda what chunky said. N is 4 weeks tomorrow and my lochia had stopped and then started up again - I'm a bit fed up with it now!
