Oh we had a great time - I only wish he thinks I'm as lovely as I think he is

the footie was fun and totally a new experience for me - he's an interior designer, did I tell you?

he owns the Mooch outlets of Italian Designer furnishings and kitchens (really way out of my league) and despite the massive contracts he attracts is fabulously down to earth - a Birmingham lad through and through Mummyhill - a poppet and sounds like a lovely dad too - really devoted.

He's going through a divorce at the moment so probably not in quite the right place to start a relationship - but then, nor am I really - we'll just see how it goes (if he calls - and I hope he does) I'll keep you all up to date

Oh and another thing, he pulled up outside the house in a seriously swish maserati what fun fun fun!!!!!!

Probably way too good to be true but lovely to experience once or twice

A bit of a wow night

wabbitt · 21/06/2006 21:44

sorry for keeping you waiting so tired I was snoozing in my chair... very rue of me as I've got a friend up from London for the night

Simplyred · 21/06/2006 22:40

Ohh sounds very exciting! I hope he calls too!!

mummyhill · 22/06/2006 08:23

Aww bless. Got to admit I am partial to my brummie lad even though he doesn't drive a maseratti.

Simplyred · 22/06/2006 23:37

Hello!

Just been out for dinner with some friends - it was nice to get out and get dressed up! Rachel is teething - they are all appearing together - she is angry about it and also has a snotty nose - would the two be connected?

She has her 7-9 month check thingy tomorrow.

Kiwifruit · 23/06/2006 00:43

Simply Red - Charlotte is the same, teething and snotty nose, although I suspect the snotty nose may be because it is the middle of winter here . Was up with her all night last night - she would only go down for 2 hours at a time, then woke screaming hysterically. Am wondering if it's because I had too many blankets on her bed and she was overheating? Middle of winter here, and a bit brrr - for some reason they're not big on central heating here, so the houses are like Siberia in the middle of the night, so piled on the blankets to make sure she didn't get cold, but may have over done it... Took a couple off this morning, and she's been asleep for 2.5 hours now.

Saw the Plunket Nurse (NZ equivalent of HV) the other day, and left feeling like a completely inadequate mother. C's weight has dropped from just above the 75th percentile to just above the 50th percentile in the last 6 weeks (she hasn't lost weight, just not gaining it as fast IYSWIM). Am still breastfeeding, and she's on 3 meals of solids a day, but haven't started doing finger foods between meals yet, however she's constantly on the move - would say she's crawling around the floor for about 80% of her awake time, so must be burning up a bit of energy. Anyone got any suggestions for good finger foods? Have been reluctant to give her any as am paranoid about her choking, but think I need to get over it!

Apart from that, all going well here - apart from the fact that the country is in the middle of a major cold snap, and the lack of central heating makes it a tad unpleasant!

wabbitt · 23/06/2006 02:16

conrad loves cream cheese sandwiches - cut into cm wide strips - chips (clean vegetable oil, no salt) have also been suggested to me by a nutritionist as good weight gaining finger foods.

Still above the 50th sounds fine - and the constant 'on the move' theory is also pretty solid in my book the main thing is do YOU think she's doing fine?

Sounds chilly over there KF, don't envy you that at all. As for the blankets making up for the cold, you really just want enough to enable her to maintain that nice cocoon of body warmth around her - if her nosey and little fingers seem chilly it's nothing to worry about, if you think she's cold in her sleep slip you hand in beneath the covers - you'll know if she needs more blankets. HTH (this is one of the first houses I've been in with CH)

Take care everyone - looking forward to more posts from people xxx

(ps he's not rung yet, but not too worried about it so far )

SR - Teething can bring on a range of niggles - could the runny nose be a touch of hayfever though? the polen count's been so high lately even I have had snuffles... and I don't normally have a moment's bother x

wabbitt · 23/06/2006 02:17

Good luck with Rachels check by the way xx

Simplyred · 23/06/2006 07:54

Rachel likes toast - some times with a little jam - I take the crusts off. She likes banana pieces, plain biscuits, little thin strips of carrott and cheese - she is also always on the move - rolling and snake crawling! And if she gets the chance she sinks her teeth into skin!

mummyhill · 23/06/2006 12:27

D loves scotch pancakes, toast, quavers (well done N for introducing that one)

wabbitt · 23/06/2006 12:51

Hello All

Simplyred · 23/06/2006 13:14

How spooky - Rachels weight has gone down too in the last 3 weeks - the health visitor asked if I was feeding her !

We concluded that she is so mobile her energy expenditure is higher than her intake - she suggests butter on her bread and higher fats and sugar consumption!! Funny I try not to over do the fats and sugars - as I know I got my taste for all that is bad when I was young! So its doughnuts and coke for tea

LadyLazarus · 23/06/2006 13:23

Hello everyone! long time no speak, been lurking on and off tho...
nice to hear from you KiwiFruit... are you feeling settled back in NZ then?
Re: finger foods, DD likes baby rice cakes and toast with houmus on, but doesn't go in for cooked carrot sticks or anything yet, just doesn't seem interested. She's around 24lbs now (10.6kg)

I remember this time last year my feet looked perfect with all those pedicures, and now they look terrible!!!

LadyLazarus · 23/06/2006 13:26

sorry if this is a bit of a taboo subject (lol) but is anyone thinking of having another baby soon?!! I feel quite broody but am in two minds as to whether it is better to have your kids close together or not, especially as we don't live near any family who could help out...

Simplyred · 23/06/2006 15:08

Hello Lady L.

I couldn't get to my feet this time last year! and too tight to pay for pedicures! I've bought a heel and foot balm to try to cure them!!! Its been a year since I joined Mumsnet!!! Thanks for every ones help and advise xxxxx No more babys here - dd and ds are quite enough!

wabbitt · 23/06/2006 15:35

Hello Lady L

In no position here to consider another little one but I'd love one - have felt like this since C's birth

LadyLazarus · 23/06/2006 16:43

aww sorry wabbitt...

sr - how old was your DS when you got pregnant with DD?

Simplyred · 23/06/2006 19:13

Lady L -he was 5 when dd was conceived - but we had been trying for years before!

Health Visitors!! Fed Rachel a really good sized meal - and she has frown up all over me - I 'knew' there was good reason for light meals recently. After Saturdays puke and all the phlegm. Think sometimes you have to use you instincts on these things! Feel rather deflated.

Simplyred · 23/06/2006 22:30

Or thrown! My spelling!!!!xxx

Simplyred · 24/06/2006 18:12

Hello

mummyhill · 24/06/2006 22:11

Hello everyone.

Hope you are all well.

Wabbitt - need to know if you can make the mids picnic in august asap hun cause we are trying to finalise details now.

wabbitt · 25/06/2006 16:53

Ok mummyhill - will you put me down as a definite yes? Aug is too far away for me to have plans so everything else will have to work round it

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - everyone

jaamy · 25/06/2006 23:53

And HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO back to you Wabbitt!!
Hope everyone is keeping well!
DD2 has just cut her 5th toothy-peg! They're coming think and fast. For finger foods, we try to give her a little bit of whatever we're eating as long as she can hold it in her tight little fist without squelthing it everywhere - we've gone whole days before now with a bit of toast clentched in her hands! - and it's not got sugar/salt, etc added. She also likes organic baby rice cakes. Have absolutely no idea how much DD2 weighs. HV assistant never got back to me to book a weighing appt as the baby clinic is on a day when I work.
Sorry you're a bit chilly KF. Don't worry about what your HV (plunket nurse) says - think they rely too much on charts, etc. As long as you think C is happy and healthy, that's the main thing.
LL - I got pg with DD2 just before DD1's first birthday. Wasn't intentional as we had tried a long time with DD1 and didn't expect 2nd pg to happen so easily. Though if I could have planned it, think I would have waited maybe until DD1 was in nursery school to give me a bit more time with DD2 without feeling guilty about neglecting DD1. Also I have really sick pgs so found it hard to cope with such a little one while pg. Plan to have another (and yes, I am broody) when DD2 is in nursery school - all being well.
SR - always follow your instincts!
Building work nearly finished here...hoorah! COuld be doing with your interior designer friend, Wabbitt - hope you hear from him soon.
Take care all! x
Gosh is that the time...must to bed!

mummyhill · 26/06/2006 13:20

Hi wabbitt have added you on to the list for the pinic.

mummyhill · 26/06/2006 16:53

Arghhh - just found out that a friend's ex husband is doing time for inapropriate behavior with a minor. Am relieved that I never left him alone in a room with my kids, and that she had allready removed them from the family home before they were old enough to be interesting to him due to the way he was controlling her and making her feel worthless.
