I've fed Z a couple of times in our local greasy spoon. Luckily he latches on to my right boob easily so I use that one when out rather than faff around with the left one (I'll leave that faffing for the privacy of my own home), so I position myself where i'm not in anyone's direct line of sight, latch him on quickly and then cover up with a muslin.

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 20/12/2012 10:52

I wonder what would happen if you just plonked yourself on a free sofa and got on with it? I mean where there are two facing each other with a table but only one person sat there. Might save that one for a no-sleep day Xmas Grin

I'm off to pick up some last minute bits but am a) going with my mum who can be just as bolshy pfb as me and b) we're going at school run time when it'll be quieter!

Bellaboo123 · 20/12/2012 12:10

I haven't braved bf in public yet...I'm such a wimp! First trip to hairdressers and A has so far slept through it. I've got a bottle of ebm with me just in case! Will have to get over it soon and take the plunge!

Glad there were some better nights sleeps all round - fx for another food night!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 20/12/2012 13:15

Well my first public bf was a major flop! We needed to get the train do had to do it in the waiting room at the station, so he was still in his snowsuit and was way too hot and wouldn't latch, there were lots of people and then he just screamed! Urgh.

I gave up, shoved his dummy in and waited outside for the train. Then shoved ourselves in the corner on the train and tried again. That was much more successful! He is an official person now though! Yay!

Off for my nail appointment in a minute and hoping little man sleeps through it. The ladies really want to meet him though so not worth my time leaving him at home or they might send me back to get him! Lol

My left boob is so sore, kind of on the underside of it. It's not hard, just really tender. Hmm Have fed her from it which (I think) has eased it a tiny bit. Tried to express from it too but that wasn't very fruitful. I hope it's not mastitis...what are the symptoms of that? (Have asked DH to get a cabbage when he's out just to be on the safe side!)

Well done for the public breastfeeding,Stacey! I also did her "favourite" boob when we were out! Though I made the rookie error of forgetting a muslin so had to try & cover her with my cardigan Confused

FriendofDorothy · 20/12/2012 14:58

I bf in the doctors surgery waiting room when Edward was 3 days old. I may have flashed a nipple but I am not too bothered really!

Bellaboo123 · 20/12/2012 15:16

Weejo - flu like symptoms...achey, headache, extreme tiredness, sore boob, poss red patch on skin, maybe a hard lump?

Afrodizzywonders · 20/12/2012 15:29

Weejo if you think it might be mastitis, get the baby onto that boob and get him/her to drain it, baby feeding is the best way to clear it up.

kate2boysandabump · 20/12/2012 16:04

Glad it went well in the end stacey I was really nervous on my first, but now I don't really care. My MIL asked where I would feed ds3 when we were out, I told her wherever I found somewhere to sit. I don't intend to hide away because of where the milk comes from. I've never had anyone pass a comment to me while I've been feeding 'though.

I fed ds3 in church on Tuesday at the children's carol service. I managed to keep everything covered up from ground level, but I forgot about the balcony above me Xmas Blush

The HV came today and did ds3's hearing check. Thankfully a clear response in both ears. He was totally unfazed by it and fed through the whole thing.

I felt much better today and we managed our first walk into town as it's the last posting day today. I'm shattered now and have been on the sofa since we got back.

Only 1 more day and dh finishes work. Can't wait Xmas Smile

kate2boysandabump · 20/12/2012 16:06

weejo If you feel unwell, get to the doctors. It will be much easier to be seen today or tomorrow, than waiting until the weekend

FriendofDorothy · 20/12/2012 16:19

Has anyone else has stitches for a second degree year? How long before they started feeling better?

SpottyTeacakes · 20/12/2012 16:28

FoD how long have you had them? First time round it was a good three weeks I think, did have episiotomy too though which seems to be more painful ime.

I was all ready to feed in the posh café I was in earlier but ds wouldn't wake up!

FriendofDorothy · 20/12/2012 16:50

I only had them a week ago tomorrow. It seems to me that there is one stitch that is pulling and quite painful.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/12/2012 16:57

You could ask your mw to have a look if you're worried. Pulling isn't a sensation I recall having and mainly it hurt when I stood up after sitting down.

WeeJo08 · 20/12/2012 17:18

FoD I had stitches for third degree tear + episiotomy. I feel pretty much back to normal now (it'll be three weeks ago this coming Saturday) as far as walking, sitting, etc goes. If I poked around down there it's still a bit tender. I definitely had the pulling sensation at about 5 or 6 days in, it was so stingy & took my breath away - it was also really sore to pee for those few days (sorer than at the beginning) but it started to feel better after 2 or 3 days. Sorry for long winded reply!

SpottyTeacakes · 20/12/2012 17:51

Argh dp has come home in a foul mood apparently because he's tired Hmm

FriendofDorothy · 20/12/2012 17:53

I have found the peeing has got more painful too. Hoping it improves soon!

Secondsop · 20/12/2012 18:05

FOD I had stitches for a 2nd degree tear. Took 10-14 days to stop getting the last remnants of discomfort. Mine didn't all heal skin-to-skin - one bit pulled apart so had to scab over separately. Not sure if they're all fully healed now (3 weeks later) but it feels fine.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 20/12/2012 18:32

FoD I hope the stitches get better soon.

weejo if you're not sure if it's mastitis get checked out now before the Xmas break.

spotty I hope DH is in a better mood now. My DH keeps telling me he's tired and yet he's asleep by half 10 and Ethan doesn't wake him at night. Yet I'm surviving on a few hours a night. Definately makes me Angry

Well we're now cluster feeding but as we went 3 hrs between feeds all day it's expected I suppose!

SpottyTeacakes · 20/12/2012 18:45

Well he did give a bottle of ebm at half one this morning but it's the first one. He just acts like a teenager when he's tired whereas I just get on with it.

I've realised today that I now really enjoy feeding ds and actually look forward to it (not at night obviously!)

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 20/12/2012 18:59

spotty I feel the same. I remember with dd I didn't think much about feeding and didn't have a problem bottle feeding. But with ds I wanted to bf but as we couldn't I bitterly regretted it. All I remember we're the bad bits of bf. but this time I'm really enjoying it.

Well ds2 won't let me put him down atm and I need to cook dinner. Confused

Bellaboo123 · 20/12/2012 20:03

Weejo I'd go to the docs as you'll probably need antibiotics.

WeeJo08 · 20/12/2012 20:09

Thank you ladies. I think you're right so I'm going to phone first thing & get a same day appointment - hopefully the doctor will give me an antibiotic that I can take if I need to.

FriendofDorothy · 20/12/2012 20:14

Thanks. I hope the stitches have improved enough so they aren't bothering me over Christmas.

The other thing, and I am sorry of this is TMI, but has anyone else passed clots? Tonight I had a couple of darkish red clots and a bit of slime. It was gross. I am assuming it is normal but I don't really have any idea!

Bellaboo123 · 20/12/2012 20:25

FoD I did at about a week in just a couple though...
