Secondsop · 17/12/2012 06:26

He's 18 days now.

Secondsop · 17/12/2012 06:26

He's been doing this for a few nights.

brooke89 · 17/12/2012 06:33

Hope it is just a growth spurt I've managed an hour and back up again now Hmm don't think I was really prepared for this.

brooke89 · 17/12/2012 06:39

In the same boat seconds - my nipples have taken a battering!

Walnut8 · 17/12/2012 06:46

Having trouble winding/settling A with a a windy tummy as well, so I feel your pain. Things I've found to help are lying her on her side (just to settle and then rolling her back once fully asleep), making sure she's had hind milk (emptying boob completely), sitting her semi upright in baby bjorn bouncer, dummy (when she takes it) ... I also remember one of the mum's from my NCT group had a lot of baby wind issues and was advised to cut certain foods - I think this helped a bit. My let-down is super fast and A often chokes so I have been letting her have a little then pulling her off, then putting back on so she isn't gulping it all really quickly.

little A still a sleepy baby but having more alert periods day by day and I think less yellow Confused ...

Bellaboo123 · 17/12/2012 07:03

Seconds maybe speak to the MW for some reassurance. How does he sleep in the day? I'm going to try and wake A up every 2-3 hours like suggested and hopefully that'll make her more sleepy at night. Have you tried that? Stay positive I'm hoping it can only improve!

Secondsop · 17/12/2012 07:14

He sleeps happily in the day, and I never let him sleep for more than about 3 hours without waking him up to feed him. I'll ask the midwife on Tuesday to see if she has any suggestions. Just gave him a formula top up as I couldn't cope with having him on my breast for a moment longer. Not really a pain / soreness thing, more the utter frustration of having spent so many hours feeding.

RarelyUnreasonable · 17/12/2012 07:17

Ds screamed pretty much a night with wind/colic. Am knackered, he's blissfully asleep on me. Will crack open the Infacol and gin.

dogsagoodun · 17/12/2012 07:39

Sorry to hear so many of you are having rubbish nights. Hope it settles soon. It usually does based on my experience.

Is anyone having the opposite problem? Dd is very sleepy and am worried she is not feeding enough. She only fed twice in the night and although that may sound like bliss I know that at less than a week old it's probably not enough. I am trying to feed her more often but she just has a little suck and then falls asleep. Getting a little worried now.

MaMaPo · 17/12/2012 07:42

Sounds like we've all had a brilliant night. Eventually I fed C yet again, cuddled her until she fell asleep, then put her down without swaddling or attempting to wind her. Result - 2.5 hours sleep. I wonder now if being so insistent on getting the burp out was most of the problem. Still, will be visiting Boots today and also seeing if she will tolerate tummy massage.

Strong coffees all round.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/12/2012 08:11

I didn't have too bad a night, after lots of rubbish ones and probably one tonight! DS woke every two hours but went straight back down after which is pretty lucky for me!

dogs have you tried changing her nappy and using cold water/wipes? I know it sounds mean but it works.... or stripping her off to just her nappy? At that age I would wake her four hourly over night and three in the day.

MaMa we used to spend ages trying to get a burp from dd, I'm not doing that this time around! Unless they are visibly uncomfortable, if you don't get a burp in a couple of minutes, I wouldn't worry. The nurse told me babies' are either easy to burp or difficult!

First day alone for me with two dc today. I have to go into town (20 minutes away) and go to the bank and get DP a birthday card (no present for him!) then go to clinic to see HV where I WILL ask her to check our latch. I feel embarrassed to ask her, I don't know why.... Blush

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 17/12/2012 08:16

Brew we slept 11-3, 4-6 and 7-8! Ok the 11-3 was on my chest while i dozed but it counts, right?

Walnut8 · 17/12/2012 08:19

dogs my LO is the same. But mws are happy with her weight gain. They did suggest I wake her to feed at least every three hours just to prevent mastitis I think but as she is weighing okay and my boobs okay I don't think I will ... how is your lo's weight gain? How does she feed during the day?

SpottyTeacakes · 17/12/2012 08:26

Those nipple shields now have £4.95 delivery on them.... still worth it??

dogsagoodun · 17/12/2012 09:10

Hi walnut. Her weight gain was fine when checked on Fri. She will be weighed again today. She feeds ok in the day and my boobs feel ok.

Spotty, I will try that tonight. Very weird that I am trying to wake my baby at night! The other two had me on 24 hour feeding duty at this point!

Hope everyone has a good day.

HoneyMumandSon · 17/12/2012 09:15

Oh dear. Sorry spotty. Naughty website! I would say yes as it saves you having to go into town. (Unless you're going out anyway!) I think amazon have them but only in medium and I've been using small.

HoneyMumandSon · 17/12/2012 09:18

Sorry- just saw your post. Maybe have a look I'm town and if nothing there order them?

HoneyMumandSon · 17/12/2012 09:21

Well, we should have had a good night. Dash slept 4 hours (best before us about 2 and a half to 3) however at the 4 hour mark I started panicking that he hasn't woken and woke him up. Not a happy baby. He's 7 weeks now so leaving him longer shluld be ok. I think b

Bellaboo123 · 17/12/2012 09:23

I know it sounds weird but I've realised A hates having a blanket and will winge in her Moses until I take it off. I usually out it on her once she's fully asleep. Maybe worth a try to anyone who struggles to settle in basket...?!?

SpottyTeacakes · 17/12/2012 09:25

I'm going into town but when I say town it's more of a road with a few independent shops either side Grin there is a boots but they don't have anything! Might have a look in the chemist if they don't have anything I'll come home and order some Smile

I think by seven weeks Dash could go five hours without you worrying?

SpottyTeacakes · 17/12/2012 09:27

Bella babies are strange. Dp and I have worked out if we leave ds sitting in the winding position for five minutes he will fall asleep and stay asleep when we put him in the Moses whereas if we put him straight in it he will grunt and moan for a bit!

CODwidow · 17/12/2012 09:30

Sorry to all those having bad nights, it does get better I promise.
I have been very lucky so far (but that could all change) baby k goes 3-4 hrs during the day and we feed until about 10:30pm then again at 3am-4am and then sleep til 7:30am when we have to get up for school run.

Had to do my first very public bf last night as had ds1's football Xmas party but luckily had my poncho and managed to sneak her underneath and get latched on almost straight away which was a result! My step dad mentioned on the way out how good the baby had been and not being fed all evening and he was sat next to me!,Grin
Just feeding now then hoping to get a quick shower, quick tidy round and get out for a quick trip to pick up a present for ds3 friend. Wish me luck!

HoneyMumandSon · 17/12/2012 09:43

Yes, he probably could/can. Just with the whole corrected age thing I never know what to expect from him. If he does it again tonight I'll leave him alone!

Dash hates having his hands covered- with blankets or mitts which has rendered all the lovely integrated scratch mitts on sleepsuits that we thought would be so useful totally irrelevant. I always try and tuck his hands in when he's asleep but he always escapes!

Ugh. I feel so fat still. I thought bf was supposed to help?!!

Secondsop · 17/12/2012 10:48

honey I've found that all breastfeeding does is make me eat us out of house and home.

Thanks for the messages last night everyone, when I was in despair. Z eventually slept after the formula at about 7am but i had a doctor's appointment at 9.40 so we couldn't all just sleep in together. Am feeding him now and will try to nap after the feed.

spotty I've got the small medela shields and I got them from amazon. Delivery was £2.75. I seem to remember though that I couldn't find that size on the app - I could only find them on the proper website.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 17/12/2012 11:14

Yep all I do is eat ATM. Still feel really fat but I've got to wait until my 6 wk check before I can go back to Zumba :(
