A nice new thread for us all - I know someone mentioned it a few days ago Grin

OP posts:

Karma - interesting abt the boy thing - Biddulph said that boys need to be with their mums for longer b4 going into daycare than girls, which back up what you're saying. It's sweet that they're so attached, but also difficult! Have you tried milk from a cup? That was what I was recommended if I was going to try it. I'm sorry you're not coming but I definitely think you're right to put your relationship as priority. Hope it works out better Smile

Diege - surely they must have invented a 'lite' egg by now?! BTW I realised why you're leaving your hotel at 9am Grin With regards to my bridesmaid thing in May, I asked them and we are going to be hanging around the church a bit afterwards so if I could push the feed to 3pm that might work better, as the dress is v. hard to do up and undo and I won't have a nursing bra on - can just see me running back just in time for the march back out of the church with zip undone at the back and Caleb frantically mouthing me having only got 5mins worth after me taking ages to undo the dress! But ANYway - do you know how I could do that? I know how to make feeds earlier - but to make it all later and not have him crying in the service??

Londoner - had a great day today with Caleb. He sat in his chair better than ever before, and managed an hour and a half total in the playpen with hardly any crying! i think its either the teething powder or the fact that two days ago I decided to give up chocolate, spicy food, windy food and orange juice cos I'd had enough of Caleb crying and I had a feeling it might be to do with my bmilk. Hardly leaves any food though!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!! Smile Grin Smile

Finally had a chance to get back on. I've been getting withdrawal symptoms from no MN! Now I know how dp feels when he goes cold turkey on no fags.

Bear/Karma - I agree with boy thing, most boys seem to be 'mummys boys' while girls do seem to let go and become much more independently far quicker. I don't mind though, I love all the attention, love and affection I get from my boys.

Karma - sorry to hear things are tough at the moment with you and dp, I hope everything gets sorted quickly.

My night out on friday was really good. I went to my friends 1st so we could catch up and have a glass of wine (that way I wouldn't feel so bad goingt home very early). My head went fuzzy straight away! It was really good to catch up with a lot of friends that I went to college with, and found out one of our friends daughter is just 12 days younger than Sean. dp seemed quite calm when I got home, so Sean must have been ok (he wouldn't tell me even if he'd been screaming all night). I did feel quite rough the next morning though, probably due to not going to bed until early hours when i'm usually there by about 9, and then getting up at 630 because I couldn't get back to sleep.

I took Owen to Fratton Park yeasterday to see Pompey v Boro - his 1st football match and he liked it mostly, but it did get a bit loud for him, esp. once Pompey had scored, but he's been walking round since singing "We are staying up..." and asking to go again. Sean again was fine, but I purposely didn't give him any 'proper' food before I went out in the hope that dp would be able to give him that, and it worked. Grin

One of my BILs is coming down to stay for a few days tomorrow, which will be really good, as long as he doesn't lose any bits of my settee! (very long standing joke between the two of us Grin).

You must all be getting very excited before your big meet up on tues.

I'm going to try Sean with some mash at dinnertime today, thanks to your recommendations Nova and Rodeo. Smile

Don't eat too many eggs! Wink

GarfieldsGirl · 16/04/2006 08:19

OOh, I think I should listemn to my own advice, I demolished a Mingles easter egg last night, he he! And that wasn't the 1st I've had this year Blush

Diege · 16/04/2006 09:23

OOh feeling VERY sick...and I wasn't even bought my own egg Blush, just been picking on girls' ones (and the rather delicious one I bought DH Grin)DH bought me a bottle of Angel perfume instead Smile, though I have to admit to a tinge of disappointment at not getting an egg, though I would have been truly horrified if he had bought me one Grin
Sounds like a great night out GG; lol at you getting tipsy after one glass of wine - a cheap date!
BEAR: yes, have to admit the schedule is never far from my mind, and don't want to have to try and get L to have nap at 9 in hotel, with all the cleaning staff hovering around Smile Will probably have early breakfast then get her into the buggy Smile. Have been packing bag ready; am going to travel the lightest I have ever done (just the changing bag!!!), not even taking a change of clothes Blush (other than underwear I must add!). Def taking the GHDs though Grin!
Right, enough rambling, I have to sort the girls' eggs!Grin

twinkle1 · 16/04/2006 09:32

Well i hope you are all having a good easter and not eating too much chocolate:) (Some hope):)
twinkle & Joshua

goldenoldie · 16/04/2006 13:42

No easter eggs to tempt me - DS1 must be the only small boy in the country who does not like chocolate! Errrrrrrr, but he wants £20 instead!

browniechick · 16/04/2006 16:22

Hello All & Happy Easter!!
Well, Thomas had his first tastes of baby rice this weekend - he seemed to like it once he worked out what he was supposed to do with this mouthful of mushy stuff!! Grin Just taking it easy though, just baby rice for now, once a day, a couple of spoons worth.
Karma - sorry to hear about situation at home, hoping things pick up for you soon. Keep communicating, that's the key.
Hope you all have a fab time at the meet up on Tuesday, sorry I won't be there, but will be thinking of you all.
And Diege - don't forget to text me the goss!!!!!

Brownie & Thomas

BEKsmum · 16/04/2006 19:37

Happy Easter girls,

Sounds like everyone is having a good one so far and surviving the Easter holidays too. Ben's back at pre-school on Wednesday and I think the holidays have flown by!

Karma sorry I called you on Friday, before reading your post, hope it didn't cause a row or anything. I'll keep the offer of a place to stay open for the next meet in the summer, but can't promise to keep you ds's chocolate egg till then though Smile Hope everything works out ok with your dp, remember I'm only at the end of the phone so if you want to let rip at someone just pick up the phone!

Took the boys to a christening this morning, what a nightmare, Thomas needed a feed, burped really loudly just as eveyone stopped singing, then got the hiccups, cried and then needed a nappy change after producing one of his dirtiest nappies and then Ben needed a wee too - now I know why I never go to church Grin Spent the rest of the day at Penshurst Place and only got wet once - fab!

Tex are you taking Toby on Tuesday?

Have had quite a hectic weekend as we had an easter egg hunt on Friday, so had 9 kids charging around my house as it was raining, but thankfully the sun came out in the afternoon so we got to sit out in my friends garden - very pleasant.

Golden my friends little boy doesn't eat chocolate either so we have to hide packs of wotsits for him every year Smile

Thanks for the kind wishes and thoughts for my friend, I had her daughter staying with me Friday and Saturday as she has now been transferred to Kings College hospital for an operation on her heart, which should be done on Tuesday so long as she has no more heart attacks in the mean time, she has had 4 mini ones so far. It's all very scary and has made me re-evaluate my lifestyle.

Really looking forward to the meet on Tuesday and have been planning my route - I'm useless at travelling around in London.

Right suppose I'd better go and sort the boys out for bed. Hope everyone is well and enjoying helping the kids to eat their easter eggs Beks

Diege · 16/04/2006 19:42

Oooh, not surprised if I'm now diabetic!! This is the problem when you are a 3 bars of choc person and then embark on a choc-free diet!! Did pretty well till lunch, then demolished a whole box of after-8s, then I was on a roll!!!
Hope everyone else was a bit more restrained!
BROWNIE: feel guilty I've not texted you yet Blush; don't worry, I will get round to it Smile. May try on train, though do texts cost a lot to do/send? Don't want to run out of credit if I need to contact someone in London (ie, I get lost!)
Have any of the babies had a sly try of choccy today? Was distracted, and dd2 wedged half her egg in LIbby's mouth; all went quiet but for a slurping noise; very content baby Grin Blush...takes after her mum!

Diege · 16/04/2006 19:45

Hi BEKS!, crossed posts Grin; sounds a bit of a nightmare in the church!!; a good recovery by afternoon though by the sounds of things Smile. Looking forward to Tuesday too, and have also planned my 'route' albeit it pretty much a direct one by the looks of it, so even I can;t go worng Smile

Diege · 16/04/2006 19:45

Now i feel sad that im not pg dh thinks im nuts!!!
twinkle

Diege · 16/04/2006 21:36

TWINKLE!!!!OMG!!! Are you sure you haven't tested too early? Know LONDONER has 4 and makes it seem effortless Smile. Have a feeling we may try for 4th (and final), but not until Libby is in school (ie, 4/5 years); having said that, I'll be 40 by then, so may take some time? Think it's perfectly normal to feel disappointed after a neg test, even though you were convinced you really didn't want 4; having said that, could be that there's a secret inkling in there somewhere? Grin.
BTW, been thinking about hair loss problem, and def. think you should go back to GP. They should be able to refer you to a specialist (trich something??).Just a thought (and sorry if I'm stating the obvious), but could this be stress-related rather than hormonal after your recent bereavements? Sad. Just a thought, don't want to upset you Smile. On a brighter note I have Tuesday 25th at Lowry down for our meet? usual place? Take care, and have the biggest piece of choccie ever, you deserve it.
Diege x

beartime · 16/04/2006 22:11

Beks - you made me laugh as I had similar experience this morning at church - I took him out to feed him (he's too noisy to feed in church!) and thought I'd try bringing him back in to see if he would survive, but he let out these two massive long loud gurgles - i went so red and went out so fast that I forgot to shut the door quietly and it banged, just to add to my embarrassment! Grin So that's what's the creche is for Grin

Anyone else having teething troubles - Caleb really seems to have all the symptoms now - coughing, spluttering, night-waking, restless, fretful etc.

beartime · 16/04/2006 22:12

Oh, and what toys/baby equipment should I be looking out for, for 6mths+, sorry clueless as usual :) I only just worked out what would have been good for 0mth+ Shock

twinkle1 · 16/04/2006 22:33

beartime · 17/04/2006 10:15

Hey everyone - just a quickie to let anyone know who hasn't got one yet (I guess you're all weaning already tho!) that the Braun handblender is on sale at Tesco for £10 off normal price, offer ends tomorrow Smile

Diege · 17/04/2006 12:06

Hi everyone Smile. Just getting my bag packed for London - have successfully crammed everything into changing bag, but think it'll tip the buggy up being so heavy!! Oh well, darned if I'm succombing to a bigger bag! May not have a chance to post later, and no internet access at hotel, so will see those who are meeting up tommorrow Smile. Feeling a bit nervous about train journey but again figured nothing ventured, etc etc!! Wish me luck! Byeeee!!!!!!!

tessasmum · 17/04/2006 12:09

See you tomorrow Diege, have a good journey. Think trains have same effect one babies as cars/hoovers/hairdryers Grin

Rodeo · 17/04/2006 12:24

Diege, have a safe and stressfree journey down :)
See you in the morning, tried to e-mail you this morning but I kept getting them returned for some reason? It was only to say the above and yes it is still fine to hang round with us til we get our trains back! Unless you get a better offer!? A cake tasting sesh round at Jens for example! Grin

Tessa, oh good hope you're right about trains and babies :)

Bear thanks fo the Tesco tip, might pop down as my blender is pretty stained (due to all the carrots I think!) I'm sure it's clean but it def. doesn't look it!

Twinkle good to hear from you! Shock at your pg test - wow! You're dh is right, you are nut's by the way Wink

Beks, LOL at your lot at church!

See most of you all tomorrow!!!!!! Grin

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

beartime · 17/04/2006 14:41

twinkle - I talked to someone with 7 kids and they said each additional one is easier than the last. Also the way I figure it is worry about bedrooms & cars after you've got pg - then its easier to figure it out cos you have no choice Grin That's what I'm planning to do anyway!I think you should have another one if only to keep that milk bank going... Smile

LaylaandSethsmum · 17/04/2006 14:51

Love Lorna xxx

Londoner · 17/04/2006 17:01

Hello everyoneSmile,

Mmmmmmm, chocolateGrin.
Hope you all had a great time this weekend!

BEKs and Beartime, church sounds a challenge, but they are all about family right? Babies and children welcome.. surely?
Wedding was great. Took on board all your comments and put my shoulders back and relaxed and it was easy. Elizabeth had a ball and charmed the pants off just about everybody, and the bride and groom looked divine and so happy.... t'was a great day. Really looking forward to seeing all of you who are coming tomorrow, yay, we'll post photos for those who are not................ Oh my goodness, summer term starts this week, how time flies!

Twinkle, 4 is wonderful. Thing is, however many kids you have they're all your own so they're gorgeous. And once you have them you can't imagine not having them so you don't wonder about it you just get on with it. Had a really lovely time in the park today with the whole family and it was bliss. Made me feel full of the joys of life and even toyed with the idea of having another! I think it's always nice to know you wouldn't mind one more.... Oh, and my other kids are 14, 10 and 7 Twinkle, which is why I think it feels manageable for me. The elder kids can get themselves dressed/washed and fetch own breakfast so I can feed and change the baby quite easily. Mostly, it's my mental skills which are needed for the older ones.... you know, sorting out arguments or having discussions about friends or school or what is/isn't allowed, or worldly types of discussions, it's nice...... although they are a messy bunch, but then so are my husband and IWink. I think maybe it's nice to have a pg 'scare' like that because it gives you a chance to really evaluate your life/situation and consider what it would be like to have another? Good luck with your decision makingSmile.

novadandypowder · 17/04/2006 19:37

Hi everyone, very excited about tomorrow Grin, I've just put everyones number in my phone so I feel like I have lots of friends now - lol!

Been trying to catch up on some sleep the last couple of days as we went clubbing on saturday night and didn't get to bed until 4am. Then I had to be up to let the childminder go home at 8 and Nat was not in the mood for long naps all day!!! Then last night she woke at 10.30, 11.30, 4, 6 and we finally got up at 7. Thankfully we had a big nap together on the bed from 8.45 - 10.30 this morning or I think I might have died!!!

Took her to Holland Park today and she had her first go on the swings, which was met by lots of giggling and smiling.

Dinner ready must dash...

Hi guys, going through dreadful time here. All ill again. Was in A&E with Rosie today with 40 degree temp. DH and I not getting along very well, feeling awful. Don't know if I'm going to be able to make it tomorrow. Sad Called DH back from a business trip today because I was losing my mind with both children and myself ill again (one reason we're not getting on terribly well). He's flying out tomorrow now and, if at all possible, I'd love to just pop in to the BM long enough to say hello but would need to dash back in time for DH to leave for the airport. All depends on how tonight goes with the kiddos and how tired I feel tomorrow.

BoB, don't wait for me in the morning. If I can I'll make my own way there. I won't have the children with me so might just jump in a taxi!

If I don't see you guys tomorrow you must please post lots of pics. Feel so gutted that I might miss it.
