Glad you're feeling better RODEO; just in time to take full advantage of Easter goodies! LOL at the twin's scenario!. Can't beleive the meet-up is on Monday -it's come round so quickly (for me anyway!).
LONDONER: I say go for the shirt dress definitely; they are rea;ly flattering and look great with wedges. You could even wear over trousers with a few buttons open? One tip for wedges is (if you're not used to them) get those gel filled insoles, and take some plasters Grin.
TESSA: good going on the student placement; will you be in with her, or can you go out? (ie, is it for her benefit, to learn, or yours?). Sounds a good arrangement either way Smile. ooh, the shroud thing has really put me off those shade things, though agree parasols are so frustrating, and I can never tell which direction the sun is coming from, much to DH's frustration!
CHACHA: glad your heart is on the mend Smile; it is really is a case of taking each day (sometimes each hour) as it comes sometimes Smile - agree about giving yourself a pat on back for what you HAVE acheived! Egg sounds delish!!!
Right, lunch time and post-mortem on driving lesson I think!!!

Londoner · 13/04/2006 17:16

Thanks for the tips Rodeo, Tessa & Diege, I feel renewed confidence building........ despite having scoffed an entire Paneforte while wandering round with baby in sling achieving practically nothing in the way of housework........ E refuses to go in her bouncy chair any more and cranes forward to sit up and shouts at me while threatening to topple the contraption over with sheer will power.......
Rodeo, glad your mastitis is receding (is that the right word to use, I think so...), in time for a Happy Easter, has Jess got an egg?Wink
Tessa, lucky you going up a cup size after bf.
Diege, how was your lesson?
You did mean leave a couple of buttons undone on the dress did you? Good idea, however, leaving a few undone on the trousers sounds tempting as more room for the er... muffin top, lol, he he (isn't that what you called it?).
Golden Shock at you MIL. Charming.....

novadandypowder · 13/04/2006 19:35

Someone doesn't want to got to sleep tonight. When I go in to settle her she just gets really excited and I can't help but laugh which makes her even more excited. I think the ignoring her cries have now done the trick.

DH gave me my Easter pressie today - the Take That Best of CD Shock. I said, '..but I'm still getting chocolate right?' and he looked all shifty and said '..yeah...mmmm'

Nope the ignoring didn't work..back up I go...

OP posts:
GarfieldsGirl · 13/04/2006 19:45

Nova - I got that for christmas, its my dancing round the kitchen whilst washing up cd Grin

novadandypowder · 13/04/2006 19:47

yep - ignoring did work, I didn't bother going back up!

Tessasmum - I got the tippitoes one today, she just stood there in it spinning around, watching the cats.

Glad eveyone seems to be fit and well/on the mend - we will be taking NO excuses for not coming on tuesday.

Chacha - after Easter I don't mind hopping onto the A40 and paying you a visit?

Well from this month it's TTC time...

OP posts:
Diege · 13/04/2006 20:22

Ooh NOVA you do realise we'll be tracking your TTC progress to the letter!!!!We need to know DATES so we can egg you on at the right time Grin Wink. LOL at spinning baby watching the cats Grin
LONDONER: a whole paneforte...I am in awe Grin yum!!! Driving lesson was OK; pretty good in parts, though mounted kerb on reverse round corner Blush(but got it right on next attempt Smile). Have 'mock test' next week Sad. V.nervous!!!!
Not sure if I'll get any choccy for Easter, being on SW and all Sad. Poor DH can;t win, if he buys I'll moan, and if not, I'll moan (though complain more if not!!!)Will have to help girls out with theirs!!!!Wink
Oh, before I forget, left message on yahoo, but doesn't seem to have been sent to e-mails...either that or no-one knows the answer, or is igniring me!!Wink
BROWNIE: arghhh, bloomin texting...just got hang of it, and phone gives up on me. Will get it charged!!!Tantalisingly close now!!
Right, damn bottles...
Diege Smile

Diege · 13/04/2006 20:40

Something else I forgot! DD1 (Jasmine) is desperate for a penpal (has to be a girl I'm afraid - her spec). Just wandering if any dds out there who would like to write? Jasmine is 5 in July, and this would really help her confidence as she's one of the youngest in her class Smile

browniechick · 13/04/2006 21:08

Evening All! Well, Thomas did it again today (roll over that is!) from front to back, and this time DH saw it so he now doesn't think Mummy is fibbing!! Smile Very proud Mummy moment, my Dad was here too, so Grandad got to see!!!! Also got him weighted today, 16lb 12½oz - what a little chunky monkey!! Am going to try him with baby rice at the weekend - he is demolishing the 9oz bottles at every sitting and has been for about 3 or 4 weeks now!
Londoner - Shirt dress sounds fab - you'll knock ;em dead (not literally though with them normous knockers!!!!! Grin sorry, couldn't resist, am now laughing at my own humour!!!!!!!!!Shock)
Diege - get that phone charged and make sure you text me asap with the goss, will not accept any excuses missus!!!!!!Smile
Nova - omg ttc!!!! am gonna wait till T is about 3 I think, not sure I could cope with 2 tiddlers!
Hope everyone is well, and that the meet-up goes ok next week - am soo Envy, but will hopefully meet with ChaCha over the Summer??????? [hopeful emoticon!!]

That's me for now,
Brownie & Thomas

Golden so you are a softie really Smile I think I may give in and just have him on my knee more too - can't stand the poor thing crying Sad

Diege - Grin I couldn't resist saying something! I think I'm going to do the eating whatever we're having thing too, as I really can;'t be bothered to cook two meals. But I am getting AK and GF for the idiot guide stuff like how to use a spoon Grin. only thing is we eat everything heavily spiced as DH is into Mexican food - I don't know that it will taste the same if I add the spices at the end. Or can I add spices but just not salt? Your attention span savers with Libby sounds like what I was doing with Caleb pre-playpen but I never got anything done, cos 10 mins isn't really enough to get into anything! Interesting about nursery. I was reading in #what to expect' that they should sanitize toys between children - surely they can't really do that!

Londoner - I vote for the non-safe outfit, not that I have the faintest idea what wedges are Grin I'm sure you'll look great!

Rodeo - I love your picture of GO's twins!

Tessasmum - agree with enjoying the benefits of bfing! Yes I did mention a 4mth thing that I read abt on other threads - the baby goes thru a weird stage, and you get down and depressed - lovely combination! Pleeese tell me how the playpen goes - need tips on getting Caleb to stay in there longer, preferably without wailing after 5 mins!

Nova Envy of you ttc Sad

Diege - I don't know the answer to your yahoo e-mail!

Oh hey I have something to cheer all you with MILs up - I don't have one!! Actually its sad, cos I would have loved to have known her - she sounds really sweet Sad

Just went for another bridesmaid dress fitting and cos I was measured in the evening last time, and this time was at lunchtime, my boobs were bigger and could hardly get the dress on so she's going to have to take it out!

GarfieldsGirl · 14/04/2006 07:51

Nova - ttc already Shock. Good luck to you, quite Envy though because think I may want a few more but not sure yet.

Busy - sorry to hear your MIL's a PITA, Its the other way round for me. I actually get on better with ILs than I do with my parents.

ChaCha - glad to see your spirits have lifted, you obviously have a lovely dh.

Well its my big night out tnight. Getting really excited, but nervous at the same time about leaving Sean. One of dps mates is coming round I think to help him out. I know he'll be ok with the boys, but its a mums job to worry isn't it? Not sure how I'm going to stay awake though, I'm normally in bed by 9.15, so staying awake past then will be hard work, I only just managed it the other night watching the Arsenal game.

I've also got my heating going in next week, wahoo! Just in time for summer, typical!

Have a good day everyone Smile

Londoner · 14/04/2006 08:01

Hello, good morningSmile,

BEKs, did you find dh wedding ring? How upsettingSad. And can't believe about your poor friend, so shocking. How are you, are you okay?
Brownie lol at the knocking 'em dead! Hope your weaning goes really well this weekend, sounds like T's a very healthy baby and will relish the riceSmile.
Nova, how exciting! Lol at N being cheeky at bedtime, so irresistable aren't they!
Diege Blush about not replying, I call myself 'bad geography girl' as I know nothing about directions and where things are unless they're at the end of my road! Am printing out a map for myself so I know what I'm doing on TuesdayBlush, my user name is just one big bluff to make me sound like I know my way aroundGrin. Wow, you've got your mock next week, good luck!
Beartime, thanks for your vote on the daring outfit. Oh, it's so good to hear I'm in company with you on the baby wanting mum scenario. E spends most of her day on my hip, cute but inhibiting........ I figure I should just enjoy it and that transporting things like washing in small piles with one hand will keep me fit [rolling eyes]..... hey, they'll be crawling soon..... Can you put him in a sling on your hip?
Don't know the answer to your spices question sorry. Actually, I remember now...... when you're cooking, at the stage you add spices, you take out baby's portion and transfer to a different pan to continue cooking while you add spice or whatever to your pan of food.... just keep them separate, yes that's the answer isn't it?
Golden - so sweet to picture your boys griping at eachother. Rodeo, your dialogue between them was classic!

Well, the house is still asleep and I came down to do some gardening .....Blush, have been emailing and mumsnetting instead Grin....

Londoner · 14/04/2006 08:12

Right, so who's coming to the meet up? Rodeo, we need one of your lists!

Diege · 14/04/2006 09:33

Hi everyone! Grin. Just had frantic hunt for birth certificates/marriage cert as we need to get passports sorted for summer, and I FOUND them, so am well chuffed Smile. A major acheivement for me, as I've needed to get two copies of birth cert in past as I'm always losing them! LOL LONDONER about getting up early to get things done, then coming on here Grin, but then you have very importnant business for next week to 'finalise'. In fact, minor panic, could we have a 'final arrangement' on yahoo re: who is meeting, and where EXACTLY we are meeting in venue? Yes, agree, I second RODEO for position of head organiser Grin. Have bought some ready made milks for L, so I'm gearing up!!!! Right, oranges to peel for dds (urghhhh)
Speak later, have a good Good Friday!
Diege Smile

goldenoldie · 14/04/2006 10:30

Rodeo - LOL at twins conversation.

Jenjam - Good talking to you. hope Fin will do the mega naps every day from now on. Coffee next week - lilJ - you too?

beartime - I have to give in every now and again. Any more howling and I'll have social services at the door!

Garfield - Let us know how the night out goes?

Tessa - cleavage - go for it - if you've got it, flaunt it!

Rodeo · 14/04/2006 10:58

Morning :)

What a lovely day! And mastitis just about gone!

A list for Tues (you did mean TUES not MON didn't you Diege Wink) would be good Londoner, I shall try to compile one over the weekend on Yahoo :)

Got my train tickets last night actually from my friend who I went out for dinner with!! Excitement isn't the word! Grin

Nova, that is brilliant news, keeping everything crossed for you - it's going to be really hard not to badger you for info though Grin

Diege - Bella would love to write to Jasmine, she's always organising her paper and envelopes :) She is 6 and a half though, wouldn't bother them though - what do you think?

Right ned to do a quick hoover up, children are at the church making loads of easter related things so I'd better make the most of it, hmmmm, maybe with a naughty corner of choccy egg and cup of tea?

novadandypowder · 14/04/2006 12:09

Rodeo - forgot to say, thanks for the tip about potatoes. I did some proper mash for her and she loved it. I also read in a mag that you can add yoghurt to avocado to make it a bit smoother for babies, so I'm going to give that one a try.

Diege - I also never find myself in that area at that time of day so don't know what to suggest. I know there are some nice coffee shops around there as I found myself at one yesterday afternoon waiting for DH to have his hair cut.

Londoner - def. go for the shirt dress and wedges, who needs safe Wink

Can't believe the builders next door are working over the bank holiday Angry. Thought we might get some peace and quiet.

Beartime - pretty sure babies can eat spices, just not salt or chilli. In this months Junior mag they have a special pull out on weaning and one section is called 'can babies eat curry' and the answer was yes as long as it wasn't made with chilli, or anything hot.

GG - enjoy your big night out. You'll be surprised that once you're away from the baby and have a few sherries down your neck how much stamina you really have!

OP posts:
novadandypowder · 14/04/2006 12:18

sorry - just remembered Chacha asked me a question ages ago and I never answered (not sure why I suddenly thought about it..)

There is an issues with Nat learning who my dads girlfriend is because....

My dad has been with his partner for roughly 16 years, however...

he is still married to my mum, and she 'doesn't know' about his other partner...

my dad won't leave my mum because of her illness - he feels guilty and in some way responsible for her being this way..

my mum isn't stupid and 'knows' there must be someone else, but lives in denial..

my theory is that one of the reasons my mum won't get better is because she has my dad right where she wants him, and she doesn't have to deal with him leaving..

my dads partner is wonderful, and really dotes on Nat having given up having children to be with my dad...

I prefer my dads partner to my mum, and want Nat to get to know her, but obviously you can't get children to lie about these things.

OP posts:
beartime · 14/04/2006 13:20

Londoner - I could def put him in a sling - I'm just reluctant as I'm afraid he'll grow into a demand-attention baby and I'll be at his beck and call! I might try it tho' esp cos he might be teething so I maybe am justified in having compassion on him Smile as for washing in small piles with one hand - I would just leave it rather than do that! Thanks for the answer to the spices question, so I guess its just more washing up Sad

GO - I know what you mean abt social services - i daren't put Caleb in his playpen whenever anyone is at the house for the same reason!

Nova thanks for the advice re spices - that's a relief! What d'you mean by 'chilli or anything hot'? Isn't curry powder hot?

Karmamother · 14/04/2006 14:50

Hi all,
Again, far too many to read.

Nova, good luck with TTC. Also, Beartime too. Why don't we have a group that is definately not TTC!!!! I suspect it will be quite large.

BAM, sorry to hear you were feeling a bit low recently. Remember, chocolate works wonders.

Rodeo, good to hear mastitis on the way out. Was it very bad?

Beartime, my DS was like Caleb. He was fed to sleep & only slept for 20mins at a time during the day, unless he was sleeping on me where he could go for hours. I think it's a boy thing. They never really cut the umbilical cord unlike girls, who I think are a bit more independant. It won't last forever & you'll have fond memories of having him "attached" to you so much.Smile

Beksmum, sorry to hear about your friend. Sounds bloody scary!

Had to start weaning this week as Ella will not take ebm from a bottle. By the time I start doing some shifts in May, she'll be on 2 meals a day so shouldn't be too reliant on milk. I'm fairly hopeful she'll take it from DP if she's really hungry. Can just imagine the look on his face as I return home & she's been howling for, like, 3 hours!!

Things have been really crap here, relationship-wise. Had the mother of all arguments this week & DP had a go at me for meeting a load of women I'd never met rather than spend time with him next week. I told him one of the reasons I was spending a few days away was to minimise the time he & my ds were in contact. I thought he'd be happy about that but it seems I can't get it right either way. Anyway, after much soul-searching, I don't think I'll be coming to the meet, I'm afraid. Hope you haven't gone to any trouble, Beksmum & thanks ever so much for inviting us to stay. I shall give you a ring soon. I definately hope to meet up with you all at some point. Right now, DP & I are having a hard time "sorting ourselves out" so my priorities lie here. In the meantime, will try & upload some pics to the Yahoo site.

Bye for now.

goldenoldie · 15/04/2006 14:16

Karma - sorry to hear you are having such a hard time of it. Shame not to see you at the meet-up, my DS1 was looking forward to having a 'gameboy' playmate. Hope you manage to get things sorted with your DP.

Diege · 15/04/2006 14:50

It's back, it's back!!!!!!Phew, feeling the life blood returning as I type Grin!!!! Nice to catch up with everyone on yahoo cold turkey addicts' stream Grin. RODEO: first thing Jasmine said this morning was 'Can I see that picture of my pen friend again???'; I also have a letter to bring down to meet, though it's more her dicatating to me, than her own writing, if this is OK with Bella!!! (hope she doesn;t get frustrated with J's writing efforts being very much the older lady!). Only thing is, Scarlett wants to write to Joe now Blush
TEX: had similar reactions with dd2, the lumps last ages SadAs LONDONER says, perfectly normal Smile.
Right, loads to do!!!Catch up later!!
Diege Smile

Rodeo · 15/04/2006 15:09

Phew, back on!

Diege - That's great they're excited, I'm sure Joe would enjoy a pen friend too Grin esp. from a little girl called Scarlett!

Karma, sorry things are going tough :( Hopefully we'll all get together over the summer again

Nova - That sounds very tough :( My parents get on well though divorced and don't have any illnesses to contend with and it can still be difficult sometimes, so can't imagine what it must be like. On a lighter note glad Nat enjoyed her mash :) J seems to enjoy anything if I put a bit of butter in!

Got to go shopping now, we're having a night in watching King Kong tonight :)

Diege · 15/04/2006 16:23

Hi again! DDs just gone to buy writing paper for writing to penpals - Scarlett is def. on for writing to JOE RODEO!!!Who knows how long their interest will last, though they have lots in common - both 3 and both have an older and younger sister!!
KARMA: meant to say how awful it is what you're going through Sad; was looking forward to meeting but, as you say, this really needs thrashing out and your personal life is a def. priority. Hopefully this will be the first of many meet-ups (love the idea of LONDONERS mumsnet picnic in Hyde park for the summer!!!)so will see you then Smile.
Serious egg dilemmas here, being on SW and all Blush. Have told dd1 to tell DH that b'mummy needs an Esater surprise' Grin, so suppose it's inevitable...oh well, better to get the stuff eaten that faff about picking at the girls' eggs!!
Diege Smile

novadandypowder · 15/04/2006 18:35

Had a blissful couple of days - DH has been taking Nat out and I've been able to do some gardening Smile. I love pottering around the garden when summer is around the corner.

OP posts:
