Gah! Just had to rescue the washing machine from doing a 90 degree wash instead of a 40! Cheers DH Hmm

Hope some sleep was obtained by the brookers. Ds2 not quite so good again last night - I think the night before was the exception rather than the rule but he still had a couple of good blocks of sleep I suppose.

Right - I'm away to make packed lunches etc

still sitting with giant 6mo on my knee. gave up putting him back through with DS1 when he woke up after half an hour the last time. he's been waking up crying, so not sure what's up.

i did get a wee lie down after i constructed a bed guard from the chair and feeding pillow and he was fine lying beside me for a bit, but woke up crying till i rocked him a bit. he must be 20lb now so my wee arms are tired...

really hope it's not like this for going back to work!

it started off more promising as well with those couple of 2 hours in a row sleeps...

jaggythistle · 18/10/2012 07:33

It's usually DS1 that changes our washing machine programme. Grin

yesterday i went into the boys room and nearly passed out because he'd turned the radiator thermostat to max! glad i noticed before night time.

Biscuitsandtea · 18/10/2012 07:52

Ah well apparently turning the radiator up to max also wouldn't make any difference here today since I appear to have no hot water so presumably no heating either Sad

I have to put the child lock on our machine Jaggy but sadly there is no child lock to stop DH from not using his brain and thinking 'oh three and a half hours? That sounds about right for a washing cycle Hmm'

Won't your DH get up with ds2 once you're back at work? Or will you need to get up to feed? Presumably DH could do it if its only 30 mins later and thus probably not hunger?

I know what you mean about the 20lbers - it kills your arms doesn't it! Especially when they're having one of those unsettled days when they want to be held but holding and sitting down won't cut the mustard, it HAS to be walking around. Oh and only Mummy will do. We had a day like that the other weekend. I was somewhat worn out! At least it was the weekend so even though ds2 wouldn't settle for DH, at least he was here to do all the things I should have been doing Confused

jaggythistle · 18/10/2012 08:08

weeeell he might get up sometimes, i remember him kind of giving up at some point as DS1 wanted a feed not him. if he was ill or whatever he was good at getting up and sitting in living room with him.

he is a v heavy sleeper though and by the time i wait for him to wake up it's normally too long and i get annoyed and we fall out! by the time i explained that he'd only been asleep for half an hour there would prob be a screaming baby. he's actually been waking up and helping more since DS2 moved out and he's gone through and brought the baby to me to save me getting up. ok that's only 4 nights but i was pleasantly surprised. :)

we'll muddle through somehow i guess. i think DH must have tried settling DS1 a few times and he either wouldn't settle or woke up straight away looking for a feed so he thought it was a bit pointless.

the annoying thing today is that DS1 has slept in till 8! he's just lying chatting quietly to himself just now.

PetWoman · 18/10/2012 09:00

Well, DS has a snotty cold so that explains the bad night. Pass the sparkly matchsticks, please.

Fluff your phone is your friend in the long, lonely nights. Do you have an NCT group you can email and share newborn horror stories with? I was the same as you - desperate to do something (including sleep and eat at the appropriate times) not just sit around with a feeding / dozing baby on my lap. But at about 6 weeks DS got into a bit of a pattern with the help of the Baby Whisperer and we introduced a dummy to help him settle in his basket, not on me. And now I rather like sitting down holding my feeding / dozing baby. Especially since time is ticking and I know now that this stage is so short in the overall scheme of things. Munx you will sleep again for a few hours we're brooking no argument with that.

Jaggy I hope DS2 starts with the better nights before you're back at work!

Biscuits I'll have a cheese and cucumber sandwich please! Grin

PetWoman · 18/10/2012 09:03

Oh, and my cat has taken to sleeping on the change mat. Nice.

Biscuitsandtea · 18/10/2012 09:54

I fixed the boiler under telephone instructions from my plumber friend Shock

Now all that remains is to see whether I come home later to a hole in the ceiling and a boiler in the garden Hmm

Sorry to hear about bad nights :( Is it too early for Wine all round? Grin

Last night DD was much less unsettled for DH Hmm which at least means I could enjoy my uninterrupted sleep guilt-free although why does she save up the awful nights for me?! Now DH is supposed to be bringing her back in time for us to get to her music class, suddenly he's not answering his phone Hmm

I'm feeling soooooo much more positive after some sleep though. Looking forward to my cuddles when she gets here!!!

As for 20lb babies, DD is so clingy sometimes that I'm a little scared of her getting heavier! She's only 16lbs at the moment, and already my back is in pieces! Confused It's the toddlers that look super hard. Mums picking up wriggling 2ft tall strong little people! Shock I can't imagine managing that!

Better get up now I suppose Grin

NinjaChipmunk · 18/10/2012 10:15

hello, how is everyone?
dream how is dd's head? i saw your fb, poor thing!
Can anyone else summarise the last week or so for me? I don' think i have time to read it all! I just have not had any time for anything recently.
We're still trapped in estate agent hell although it may be about to progress in the next day or so (not sure if that'll be forwards or backwards though!), we are just waiting for a revised quote for our electrics (cheaper than the 3grand we were previously quoted hopefully Shock) and the survey on the house we want to buy has thrown up all sorts of nasties which are being looked into. Plus one lot of agents are utterly crap and keep trying (and failing) to bully us into exchanging before we've seen survey results on the issues the original survey threw up! And breathe.....
Right, i need a shower then tea, late breakfast and online food shop.

cakes82 · 18/10/2012 12:17

Anybody want a two week old? My lovely sweet daytime sleeping baby has decided now mummy is on her own she doesn't need to sleep for longer than 10minutes and that is straight after feeding and also feeding must be every 2 hours

Loopyhasanotherbean · 18/10/2012 13:33

morning all, feeling much brighter here today, had 6 week check yesterday and all ok and so can now drive again, and lifted DS1 a couple of times yesterday, am so out of practice, he felt so heavy! Although, the way DS2 is growing he will soon be as heavy, 13lb 10oz at 6 weeks already! And this means DP's folks are going home tomorrow, which makes me very happy indeed, plus we are going to visit my folks for a few days which i'm really looking forward to :)

Does anyone happen to have a valid mothercare discount code? have an order ready to place but on principle i don't want to pay full price given how many codes they issue throughout the year!!

And is it just me who is already thinking about having another baby already? Despite only having just had one, and despite not having a clue how i am going to cope with the 2 of them on my own....although DS1 is generally very good, and tantrums are easing and he is so adorable towards DS2, DS2 has turned into a very clingy baby, and is hard to settle in the daytime and if he is awake he generally wants to feed, which is a bit of an issue when also trying to fit in 3 meals a day for DS1 and 3 bottles and naps/sleeps for DS1....seriously wondering how best to deal with them and how to cope, ideally a solution that involves minimal chocolate for me as would like to try and lose some weight in the hope of DP becoming a DH before we have another baby, only 6lb over pre baby weight, but pre baby weight was too high to start with IYKWIM :) (as no way i'm wanting to wear a wedding dress unless i'm slimmer than i am right now) (not that he's asked me to marry him, but we both sort of know that we will do it, and i think he doesn't see the point of officially getting engaged unless we are actually going to get married very quickly afterwards..)

NinjaChipmunk · 18/10/2012 14:03

loopy I would love another baby even though we have no room and no money. We won't even have enough room for a third when we move unless 2 of them share and we shall be skint for years to come......
cakes I hope she sleeps for you soon.

musicalmrs · 18/10/2012 14:24

Loopy, I've been thinking of having another one for ageeeess! Have discussed it with DH and set a rough timeline for when to start TTC again. :) Hurrah for DP's folks going home soon!

Ninja, can sympathise re estate agent hell :( Ours were awful. Hope everything gets sorted soon, especially a cheaper electrics quote.

Shattered. I've got to run choir later, not sure how I'll muster up the energy. Maybe through more cake...

hawthers · 18/10/2012 17:32

I am out of the house, on my own, with as far as I know no vomit on my person on my way to meet DH for a night out at radio 2 in concert with Kate rusby Shock

I even have make up on...

hawthers · 18/10/2012 17:34

Would like to point out that we do have a babysitter looking after the boys :o

scarletfingernail · 18/10/2012 17:49

Hey Ninja I would but my laptop's died and I'm having to post from my phone which I'm not finding that easy. How's your DS now?

I'm impressed Hawthers! Have a fab evening.

I did feel broody Loopy until this last round of illnesses we had which made me realise I'd never cope with 3 DC ill at the same time! I do feel now that my family is complete which is actually a lovely feeling.

Scream did you get to music group?

How's today been Fluff?

Cakes has your laptop died completely as well or have you been able to did it?

scarletfingernail · 18/10/2012 17:49

Meant fix it!

Biscuitsandtea · 18/10/2012 18:14

Oh I just remembered, I meant to say to Scarlet - napisan can be used in the drawer or in the drum. You can sprinkle it on top of the washing powder in the drawer or I used to use fairy gel in the drum and just sprinkled it on top of hat.

You've probably worked that put by now though. Sorry it's about 3 days late.

Will respond to everything else later. Just off to sort out washing, feed baby, bathe children and feed baby again before sinking into a vat glass of wine

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 18/10/2012 18:39

I'm exhausted! I'd love another but how in hell dear!ople cope with not getting to sleep til 4am and then get up at 5-7am with a toddler or school age child? [shock:)

Have a lovely time hawthers :)

dd has discovered her thumb - it only took 9 days! Oh dear!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 18/10/2012 18:47

dearople?? Do people!

hawthers · 18/10/2012 19:34

Selective memory loss fluff and then its too late!

DreamingOfPeace · 18/10/2012 19:45

fluff, that's me!! My non sleeping dts keep me up or get me up constantly and DD is a 6-7 am kind of girl. I'm tired but functioning iykwim. We're all up and dressed by 8-9am because we have to be for babies first pushchair nap, groan and out most mornings for playgroups or other toddler entertainment. It's getting easier too as babies feeding is more predictable. the sleep deprivation is still awful though

I'm thinking about dc4 Blush . Sadly Dh isn't, I think my family is complete but I'm sad about that... It wouldn't be for a couple of years, but that's ok. My house will be so empty when school for DD and preschool for the boys hit simultaneously :(

Glad 6 week check ok loopy and hurrah for reclaiming your house.

And biscuits and mn are marvellous :) . Weaning improvements. Sent Dh out for stage 2 pouches as suggested, worked miles better last night. Stick of cheese for s didn't, choking plus mega-vom but worth a try. I'd totally forgotten about lentils, will make boys that for tea tomorrow, and genius idea about blending smoother with stock not water biscuits god I'm dim . B is a much, much better eater why he's caught up so much of course and he ate my watery spaghetti bol but wasn't loving it.

hawthers, enjoy your evening of freedom! I hope both sleep all night for you too so its fully enjoyed too :)

Eep, £3k ninja, that's extortionate!! And not even a direct moving cost. It's such an expensive business. Mine will be room sharing unless we extend BTW, and we can't even fit 2 single beds in their room, we've measured dimensions and its too small. Dds room is even smaller so that's that. Bunk beds til they leave home!! We do have a separate study downstairs with lovely cosy gas fire we could begrudgingly use as a bedroom when they're teenagers though I guess.

DD much better now. Coughing less, taking her antibiotics happily yesterday, no ill effects from her head injury yesterday. Ive not seen it yet as couldn't get a proper look yesterday through the blood and she was on my lap while it was cleaned and Dh changed the plaster but think its only 1 or 1.5cm but will scar. So I'm happy! Boys still wheezy but also improving. Phew.
