F has had piriton (what a scary side effect list that has ) and is in bed at a reasonable time. Not sleeping yet.

Thats the "family" car, the other one is a BMW! They have 3 kids so I think he must be "adequate" :o

Anyway, she had already informed her insurers so I've had to let ours know as they'll find out anyway. Insurance lady asked who I thought was liable so I said God! Not sure if she took it with the humour intended!

Anyway, that's it dealt with! We'll see what the damage is come renewal time in May! There isn't a scratch on our car so no excess to pay!

Good post about luck UBW, I was nodding all the way through it. When ds1 became ill and died we realised it had nothing to do with bad luck. Bad things happen to good people and shit happens etc etc. It sounds like I am trivialising it, but I'm not. I just think these things happen and we don't always have control over them. It doesn't mean you shouldn't or can't be upset by it though, just don't let it dictate how you feel about everything

I know it's too late now, but for the future i think you can pay extra on your policy to protect your NCB? Something like you can have one claim in a given time frame (a year maybe) and your NCB is protected.

Sorry to hear about your car troubles too UBW. I always think cars are like computers. They're my best friends when they're working, but when they go wrong they are a BASTARD.

Before Christmas I reversed into a neighbour's car which was parked opposite. It wasn't much damage but cost £275 to get the 2 panels I scraped resprayed/sorted out. Didn't go through insurance thankfully.
Although rather annoyingly he still parks in the same spot and I feel he's tempting fate somewhat.

Then today, the window cleaner who always parks across the drive which totally pisses me off anyway, was only halfway across the drive so I though I could squeeze past when I came home.
I couldn't :(
Scraped the back door pretty badly on a bit of wall.

It will need sorting although we've left other scratches on the bumper and stuff but this is bad :(

Sometimes when i read about all the random & strange bad things that happen to people I find myself thinking it's amazing any of us humans make it through life at all. So it's not a matter of 'why me?' more like 'why not me?'

You know, I did think at the beginning of the month, 2013 was going to be our year. 2011 we lost too many people close to us, 2012 I faced up to my Pnd and got over the hump of it, and I can see daylight at the end of the tunnel

2013 is going to be our year, a few shitty things have happened, so we are a bit out of pocket, our insurance will go up. It was going to anyway because of the gender equality thing, we both earn a good wage, we don't struggle, which many people are at the moment. We have a roof over our heads, we have B, we have each other, we have our health. Why not us!?

On Saturday we will have been married 5 years! We have a cheeky night away booked , fancy dinner, some wine! Can't wait! :o

Oh and I may have another meeting with Mr Banjo soon! I will try to stay cool this time though!

I can be so negative about things - I'm definitely a cup half full person. Sometimes I have to give myself a reality check and remind myself about how lucky I really am. We need to stop sweating the small stuff!

It may have been coincidence or it may have been the Piriton. Either way, we had a much more normal night last night!

And more poos in the toilet last night and this morning - followed by an "I don't want a nappy on" tantrum.

I wonder if this will stick after the pox recedes? I'm excited about the prospect of no poos in the cloth nappies!

What do people think about pull-up nappies? Any experience?

(We're definitely not "Training" yet, just following his lead. I'm not actually expecting this to be successful for some time.)

Hooray for a better night ubw. Hope the nappies work out. Ive only used pull ups twice with s and they leaked but they seemed to come up a size bigger IMO.

We had a goodnight. S slept thru, and a slept in his crib to feed times, on his tummy tho. Hes been taking day naps on his tummy on the sofa, he holds his head well, and he can roll onto his back tho not enough room in his crib. I was really worried but we had to try it as nothing was working. I might get one of those angelcare monitors as we are prob keeping him in our room til he sleeps they as he will be sharing with s.
Any advice re room sharing? Worried they will wake each other up!

When we go to Spain In may. the flat has a travel cot and a bed. A will have to use the travel cot and s the bed. However s is still in his cot. It's prob to early to move him but I reckon we need to before may so hes ok in that bed. Help? X

Fizz Very unlucky re: car incident and you too JKS I'm bucking the trend and having good car fortune just now, ours passed it's MOT yesterday so means we can now crack on and get it sold without shelling out a fortune. We need something with 3 seperate seats in the back for all 3 sprogs :( I DO NOT like people eaters and I don't want one! But I don't think we have much choice as we can't afford anything bigger that still looks pretty i.e Porsche 4x4s and the like ;)

ILTMI I feel your pain at the dentist, I had RCT last year and hated every single second of it. In future I will be having any teeth removed!

UBW In my experience pull-ups are not really practical yet at this age. DP got some by accident just before christmas and we were forever changing full outfits due to leaks (i suspect caused by the fact that DP always seemed to have them on R like a lopsided thong) Also they are not as absorbent as your usual nappies and poo's are a nightmare. I still have half that packet in a cupboard, I hate waste but even I couldn't persevere with them until they were finished!! And R will ask for poo's too but not always reliably, she sometimes asks for a wee as well but 9 times out of 10 she's already done it. I'm slightly panicking now about potty training before new baby comes!!

Speaking of which I am now 8+5 according to MW or 7+6 according to me! Scan should hopefully be 12th Feb and thank god cus I don't think I'm going to be able to keep it a secret for much longer!! My "bump" is showing already!!!

Oh yeah and I forgot to say, I am now one step closer to officially becoming MrsWajs as DP and I got engaged at the weekend!! Was a total surprise but a very nice one! Ordered my ring today so can't wait for the 28th when it will arrive! :)

Sorry kitty didn't read your post properly. Room sharing is a nightmare or so we've found with R and DSS!! It may well be different as your boys are used to each other being there all the time, whereas R and DSS are so used to being on their own (about 95% of the time) that they are constantly waking each other up during the night or early in the morning! Very frustrating. I think maybe once they are a bit older and past night wakings all together maybe it would work out a bit better?

You don't necessarily need a people carrier or 4x4, how about an estate? I love our A6, it's so easy to drive and park.

Are you thinking of pull-ups as a step towards potty training UBW? If so, no I don't think they're any good. IMO they are nappies that fasten a different way. I think if you're training then it's nappies or pants. Anything else can be confusing.

Second the estate wagon! I love a nice, boring, functional estate!

I was thinking of pull-ups not really in terms of training, more to be easy access nappies. As in, he's now had several toilet poos after making a request. I want to be able to whip his nappy down (in a pants stylee) and get him on the loo/potty so the connection between urge, request, pants down and go is preserved.

I'm hoping we might be able to do the same thing with wees soon (although I know that one takes longer).

So I want them to be just pull up nappies, as opposed to pretend pants. But I wasn't sure if they were as absorbent. (And it sounds like they're not)

We honestly weren't expecting/planning any of this until the summer, at least. But it seems silly to ignore what he's doing by himself.

In other news... It's been snowing all day but not settling . But the weather warnings have changed and we're now in the orange bit but school isn't . However, I'm not risking my life if its not safe. (DH is booked off on pox-watch tomorrow)

Ah yes, I see. Yes they are easy to whip up and down, but if F doesn't do formed poo's and he's a bit hit and miss with the potty, then don't use them. Mind you saying that, ds3 has such chubby thighs that pull ups fit him well

I love snow. We had about 4 inches over Sunday/Monday but nothing since. It has stayed though as it's so flipping cold (-8 on the walk to pre school today). I think we have more forecast tomorrow and Saturday too.

I'm thinking pull-ups for DD for the same thing, sometimes she asks/says poo before she goes, haven't been in the appropriate place/time/clothes to get her to the potty or loo in time (once was in a Governor's meeting as DS2's sch!).
Thinking non-popper vests & pull-up combo would help.
So far have size 6 pullups for DS2 in the house but think I need to invest in something smaller, she normally wears 5+ nappies so may look some of them out.
Would dearly love love love her to be an early out-of-nappies person as DS1 was slow, DS2 is very slow (5 next week) and it would be such a relief to be down to just one in nappies.

Due lots of snow tomorrow - so far the Met Office says from 3 - err just in time to cause chaos for the school run...not sure whether to send boys in or not in the morning

F is still quite small in size, still around 11kg and about 82cm (I think, certainly shorter than his contemporaries). So I'd have to find size 4 pull-up nappies for his slightly more streamlined shape!

Our snowcast (as I shall call it!) says the snowfest is due to begin at 3am but turn to rain by lunch. However, the temp is supposed to stay below 3C. Fingers crossed its just too dangerous to go in. I want to make snowmen with F!

I think we might go out and do a snow dance after some nibbles.

Working week over! Whoop! B fed himself his tea with a. Spoon and minimal mess! He doesn't need me anymooooooorrrrrrrreeeee

He is eating like a horse just now! I've started giving him some shredded wheat before bed and that seems to have stopped his 4am wake ups demanding toast! Does anyone do pudding everyday? He has a yogurt at lunchtime, but I'm not sure what to do for tea time pudding. Fruit doesn't seem to go down well apart fro tinned peaches. I'll maybe get some custard. Cake?

DD eats loads at the moment too.
She has pudding every day, yogurts, fruit, ice-cream (those mini magnums work well), chocolate mousse (v messy!!), jam tarts/other cakes (Mr Kipling-style small ones are good if you don't want big cakes/portions), biscuits, etc. Anything we have in & the boys are eating & she'll eat basically

Have spoken to DS2's school, the Head may call the buses to bring the kids home early if it's looking like it will turn serious.
I'm not sure about this as a plan as the bus route can take a long time.
So, it starts snowing, Head assesses, decides it's worth calling buses into action, drivers & escorts appear (presumably they aren't actually at school all day?), load up the kids, set off on route...snow gets worse/roads get worse as snow continues. 45 mins later they phone us stuck

At least, in theory, we can walk to DS1's school and sledge him home again - well DH has said he could do that, i don't fancy it with DD.

Also, meant to be collecting our babysitter from her workplace (as she doesn't drive) at 6pm to get her here in time for us to go out to a dinner-work-thing. Thinking that may all get cancelled.

Our babysitter is coming from Aberdeen on Saturday! I'm hoping she makes it, otherwise dinner bed and breakfast with a toddler will be interesting.
