laundrylover · 23/04/2006 12:11

first smiles are great aren't they - makes all that whinging a bit easier to bear eh?

Cadmum · 23/04/2006 13:40

We are also being blessed with lovely big open-mouthed smiles. As usual the little people in my house seem to get the biggest ones. Does anyone else's baby laugh in their sleep. All 4 of mine have done this and I can't help but think that they must be laughing at me! (What else could they find funny at such a young age?!?)

My brother just flew back to Canada this morning. I am going to miss them... It was chaotic and we stayed up WAY too late every night but it was fun.

Frizbe · 23/04/2006 22:19

Caddy we don't get laughs but we get the odd coo in the sleep, along with the snorting still Grin and the odd sleepy grin too, ss and dd have been the most blessed this weekend with smiles galore Grin in fact eveytime ss tried to get off the bed to get dressed this am, dd2 cried so he had to go back and stare adoringly at her! lol

VYY, restaurant sounds fab Smile nice prezzy

Catj, great news about Seren, hope you get the next op, very soon x

Unisarah, twas an roleplay con, mainly Dungeons & Dragons, World of Warcraft, Call of Cthulu, Heroquest etc etc so more of that stuff than board game oriented, although there were a few board ones about, didn't catch them all, busy selling and looking after the kids! who were all angels and even went to sleep in the hotel room without any screaming, bickering or jumping about, cause we kept them all up later Grin so they dropped like flies Grin

Hi Munz, Rom, LL and eveyone else

OP posts:
Cadmum · 24/04/2006 03:16

Catj: Thank you for the update. You seem to be keeping it all together beautifully. I should take a page from your book as this simple cold is doing our heads in. You are an amazing mum and Seren is so blessed to have you.

More tomorrow after I have tackled Laundry Mountain that is now our bedroom.

Frizbe · 24/04/2006 22:17

Caddy wishing the laundry faries upon you!

Soooo went to the nappy event today and lo, but whose baby gets asked to be the photoshoot baby Smile bless our little dd2 eh! soon to be gracing the front of a local rag in rainbow tots bots! (with her incredibly snotty mum and some local councillors - ?! )

Hope your all ok as very quiet on here?

Cadmum · 24/04/2006 22:52

chjlly: Thank you for keeping us informed. I sure hope and pray that all goes well for Seren so that she can be back home with her family asap.

Catj: You are amazing for being so strong.

gothicmama · 25/04/2006 09:10

hope it all goes well.

i have aweek left with the gothicboy before heading back to back to placement As well as missing him I need to go and buy some trousers which fit properly still have an untoned belly need extra room perhaps long tops will surfice.
Dh is looking forwarded to having time alone with DS. I've decided to do night feeds so I get to see him mad idea but we will see how it works out. Hope you are enjoying the babes it's amazing how much they change in a short space of time

Munz · 25/04/2006 12:59

BIL donw so time's limited. Joey's had his jabs today poor might scremed so much, I was crying with him. anyhow, back down stairs for nice cuddles and for him to have a suckle - I know it's bad but i'd rather he suckle on my boob than the dummy today! (he's a v sucky boy when he's drifitng off to sleep) anyhow he's 12lb 2oz so 8.5 weeks old (well 9 on thurs) and he's put on 5.2lb Shock the heffa! lol

vik - i'll be in pompey around the end of may (half term week/week b4) so let me know, but definatly anyone who wants to meet up! Joey also does the 2 hours feeding, he seems to sleep for 5/6 hours at night tehn think ok done my big sleep time to play and feed ever 2 hours! lol.

chil - please give cat my best and hope LO gets better/the scan goes well.

friz - ooh real nappies lol, I've stuck with pampers at the mo, Joeys' too scrawny looking for the fluffles so still looking for some slim ones (whe n I get around to it! lol)

where is that rom gone??

fairly good night Joey woke at 2.30 am then again at 6, (mainly as he was on the bed with me - again he wouldn't settle after the feed then so he was with my till he was asleep then I moved him over to his crib) but he went down at 9pm (the routein a little out of sorts as BIL down - well still dowing fed/bath it's just beds not happening till later on by about half hour. must stay on top of it thou!

hope everyone's doing well.

Jackstini · 25/04/2006 15:55

Hi all - lovely to hear about all the smiles - it is amazing how you never get bored of just watching them! Scarlett does smile and laugh in her sleep too Cadmum.
She went from 11 - 7.30 with only one feed/wake up at 3ish last night. Dh and I were amazed when his alarm woke us this morning rather than her crying!
Friz - could not make the real nappy event as I am not supposed to drive for another couple of weeks yet. Shame I missed your dd's starring role though!
Catj - thinking of you and hoping everything went ok for Seren this morning

UniSarah · 25/04/2006 19:38

Friz- snap on the real nappy event photos, don;t know if we will make local rag tho as it was council bod taking the pics.He wasn't asked to display his funky safari wraped bum either. Was totally worth going along to as i bought some X demo and second hand stuff for when hes a little bigger and has grown out his bimbles. Love the nappy nation one, it folds out to single layers for drying but looks like it will behave much the same as a bumble on the boy.
Hurrah for the boy he did 4.5 hour sleep last night, followed by 2x 3 hour, so I got a half decent nights sleep. Got to get up early tomoz :-( Drs apt at 10am 30 mins away via a non pram friendly bus. Sling here we come.

Frizbe · 25/04/2006 23:47

Lol Uni Sarah! nice lady who took the photos e-mail'd me the best ones last night as well, awww....great news re your ds's sleep! hurrah to feel awake Grin

Munz, you let ds suck if that's what makes him happy, glad his jabs went ok!

Jackstini, sorry being dozy totally forgot you wouldn't be able to drive, durrr Blush

Caddy did you get laundry fairies??

I woke up at 6am and tried to pop dd back in her cot, as had accidently drifted back off to sleep with her in bed on the boob, oopse, she woke up for another feed, obviously.....so I popped her back on boob and dropped off again, oopse Blush woke up 1 hr later when dd1 came in....ahem.....dd2 was still on boob fast asleep, slung across my tummy......

OP posts:
Cadmum · 26/04/2006 11:41

Guess whose dd2 slept from midnight until 6:00am?! Of course I did not sleep during that time. DS2 was in with us as he is feeling miserable with a cold and DS1 was being sick. Charming!

Friz: No laundy fairies...Quite the opposite: We spent hours in the laundry room and now DS1 has been sick everywhere so I am off to launder all of his bedding etc. etc. this morning before dh leaves fo work. I often fall asleep and wake up with dd2 on the boob as well...Bad mummies!

Hope your angels are sleeping well too!

laundrylover · 26/04/2006 14:16

Liking the sounds of these long night feed gaps! Kiah would sleep for longer if her horror of a sister would stop waking her up with crying fits! I always fall asleep whilst feeding but do often feed lying down and try and tuck duvet out of the way.
Last night Tilly wet the bed (she is refusing a nappy but usually goes through with a 'dream wee'!) so with the nappy filler going at full throttle I too am up to my eyeballs in washing. Better not rain....
Just got outbid on a groovy nappy change bag on e-bay but going after an another in an hour. Am having a hot stone massage later!!! Can you tell that the terrible toddler is in nursery today?Grin

UniSarah · 26/04/2006 21:15

Dear son having given me good night, then gave me a bad one last night :-( Actully that not quite fair on the boy- He just woke up early and wanted to play. But crumby mummy isn't very good at 5am, at 6 I gave up trying to get him back to sleep ( 5-6 two feeds, a nappy change and a load of calming routine) and headed upto the living room. he was totally charming for an hour playing with baby gym, tummy time, smiles, the works. I'm KNACKERED.
We did get to Drs on time, I really must think hard about changeing Drs to one thats easier to get to.
Any one got any opinions on waking babies for a feed when you go to bed, does it work ... do you get any more sleep than waiting till they wake up hungrey an hour after you went to sleep.
My washing line looked lovely today-- lots of nappies flapping inthe breeze under a blue sky.

Frizbe · 26/04/2006 23:00

Hmmm let me think Unisarah, dd1 used to do me a dream feed, so would happily stay in land of nod for her last feed, dd2 is currently doing this also, although I'm giving her an expressed bottle (which I did with dd1 after 1st 3 mths, and found it induced long sleeps!) and getting a good 6hr stretch out of her hth's

Caddy sorry you had to do laundry and ds is poorly as well Sad hope tomorrow is better for you!

Rom where are you?? is Caddy right, are you moving?

LL, sorry to hear about Tilly and the bed, we nearly had a similar problem, luckily I decided to check on dd1 again when going to bed, glad i did as found her naked, obviously had woken up and decided to strip for whatever reason.....luckily hadn't weed....phew! so I stuck a nappy back on and covered her over, phew!

OP posts:
gothicmama · 27/04/2006 12:51

dh did the nighttime feeds last night and ds only woke twice (as opposed to every 2-3 hours for me) have told myslef it';s cos he prefers my company!!
I have tried waking him for a feed and had mixed results.
Have also bitten teh bullet and gone down the bottle feeding route as having to return to work placement next week and also ds is very hungry baby my expressed supply would do one feed only.
Feel ok about it as he seems much more contented and family life has become less fraught

UniSarah · 27/04/2006 17:25

We went to baby massage for 1st time today. ed was V chilled out about it and got fasinated by the stripey sock worn by the mum next to me.
Thanks for reports on night feeds, I'm still pondering, might try it before an empty day in case it back fires!
unisarah

laundrylover · 27/04/2006 18:10

Hey Cad hope that kids and laundry situation are better by now.
Friz, can recommend the 'wee catcher' blanket thing from Hippychick when your dd decides to go nappy free. It's fab and even if Tilly wees I can fold it over for the rest of the night and then wash it in the morning. Most nights are dry though thank goodness. By the way she spends most of her life naked from the waist down at the mo - she has no shame!!
Gothic, don't blame you for going on to a bottle with you having to go on placement so soon. I couldn't do sole expressing - it takes half an hour to get 3oz! The bfing was good practise for next time though eh??Grin
Unisarah, glad I'm not the only saddo who loves the nappies flapping in the breeze!!Smile

Cadmum · 27/04/2006 19:53

Hello all! DS1 is still glued to the couch so I am feeling stuck in this two-bed flat going bonkers!!! Good practice for Vienna, where I expect to spend many a day feeling lonely and lost.

Baby slept well again last night so perhaps we are on to something. She has been miserable today though...

The laundry is done and since I am still in my jammies for a second day in a row, the pile is not getting as big as it usually would be!

Take care. Must run an amuse bored 7 and 4 year olds.

laundrylover · 28/04/2006 21:43

Just superglued my finger and thumb together fixing some posh shoes for a wedding tomorrow so now have no fingerprints!
Cad, when do you go to Vienna? By the way when I read your post I thought you were referring to a medical pile, not a laundry one!
Kiah has been asleep since 8pm so wonder if she's invented a bedtime for herself - fingers crossed eh?

UniSarah · 28/04/2006 21:51

Guess we were all busy today? Ed co-operated with me this morning and let me take his foot print several times in poster paint to make thank you cards for the pressies hes been given. Last time we did it he yelled the hose down, today, not a whimper.
poor little sausage had trapped wind this evening. Not a happy chap, hes asleep now, but bed time was a bit loud and took a long time as I was trying every trick in the book to get the gas up or down to make him more comfy.
Tonight is the night I'm going to start doing a late night nappy change and feed when I go to bed. the weekend is the right time to start as if it backfires on me the first few nights I can snatch a day time nap or two while dh deals with boy.Wish me luck.

Frizbe · 28/04/2006 22:04

LL go Kiah! thanks for the info re the wee catcher blanket, hope to be needing it soon, she seems to have clicked yest n today, I've had the last 3 poo's on the potty or toilet!! hurrah Grin
Enjoy your wedding tomorrow.
Gothicmama, congrats on finding a routine that works for you all, I'm aiming to be on bottles by the time we get to 6mths that's long enough for me, although dd1 opted out at 4mths, by constantly screaming at me, as supply wasn't meeting demand by then.....so we shall see what happens this time round.
Caddy, sorry your going a tad stir crazy, hopefully ds1 will be better soon

OP posts:
Jackstini · 29/04/2006 11:59

Gothic - I tried expressing for the first time yesterday but didn't even make 1oz Sad Am using an electric pump but don't know if the hand ones are better or if anyone has any tips? Will probably have to go onto mixed feeding when back to work in 3.5 weeks. Should be able to do 1 bf in the morning and 2 in the evening so better than nothing. Then again, got to try and get her to take a bottle first....!
Having better sleeping now, usually only 1 middle of night feed and she went thru from 11 to 5.15 on Thurs night Smile
Hope everyone is having lots of happy baby time.

Frizbe · 29/04/2006 16:36

Jackstini, don't worry it takes a bit of time for it to build up expressing wise, you could try this it works for me....stick baby on one boob and pump on the other, I personally tend to get more out that way.......the electric one works well for me when I do this, it also seems to work best in morning?! say 9/10ish. hth's
Hope everyone else is ok, off to feed now!
