Perhaps I am actually post number 1000? Fitting since not many of the earlier ones can be from me.

We are officially back on-line from home. I am still finding my feet in Austria but dd2 is making it easier by being such an angel. She is the only one of our 4 that is not keeping me up worrying all night.

I will try to catch up with this thread shortly. Please be patient with me though as there must be oodles to read. I have sure missed this outlet and you lot.

Uni, glad ds is eating your homecooked fare again I think it a man thing the learning the hard way......

Diet gone to pot today, been to Brum to visit a mate, and been scoffing my way thru a pile of Krispy Kreme Do-nuts with dh this evening!

LOL at lo finding teh net connection to play with. boy is already intersted in teh PC, but can;t reach it while in his walker OR from the floor. YET. suspect it'll take something like that for dh to SEE the point of child proofing.
Grub going well the last few days. did another bunch of apple processing today , boy wil be having apple all this week again. Makes for messy nappies tho :-(
Very satifiying seeing food I've made him disapear along with the milk.
Boy let us have a lie in today- hurrah, woke at 5.30 but went back to sleep after a feed till 8.

only 4 more posts on this thread I guess, then it'll be time for

Hi Uni, glad to see dh having to do his fair share!!
dd2 well on the move here, has unplugged the internet connection in the hall this am (1st trip into the hall, oh its empty, bar this wire in the wall, what's that then....guess she has no problem with the pincer movement then....) right as dh was at a crucial point playing World of Warcraft, harharharh she's trying to play with dd1's feet at the mo, dd1 not impressed....
Hope your all having a good weekend, not sure what to do today, dh off to work in a mo may go and look at Ducks or something of that ilk...

Slightly forced dh to feed boy today. I've started going to french class on saturday mornings. I left pear puree and rice all made up in teh fridge for eds lunch and told dh to feed him if he was hungrey. he was, and he did. so i got home at 12.30 to a boy who wanted some milk but had eaten all his pear.Hurrah.
combined with the success we had yesterday and today with veggie rice at tea time I think we are getting somewhere with spoon feeding at last. will stick with that for another couple of days
and then try mashed spud with the same veggie stock. I made soup last night for dh and I and strained some off for stock before adding teh more interesting seasonings. Its quite tasty with baby rice.
Novenmber I'm working the first weekend lighting an outdoor bonfire night pagent thing. so I'll be off 10-10 on saturday and about 2-2 on sunday. So boy can have boob in the mornings and overnight but dh has to do lunch till bedtime. experiments are comenceing to find a formula he will drink from his beaker (even if we have to spike it with pear juice, as he has twice glugged down a french milk and pear formula, that I can't find over here). I'll take the pump with me to stop me geting tooo uncomfy.
dog pooh on carpet- not nice. hows it compare with baby pooh?

Sarah, where are off to for a lone weekend? Anywhere special? Are you going to pump for all that time?
I am considering a girly night away but may take DP and Kiah along to hide in the bedroom!

Apple is the only no-no so far on the BLW blog so hope you perfect those rings Sarah and then he can enjoy home grown apples a little later in life eh?
Friz sounds like the weaning is going great - have you tried plums/nectarines etc?
Kiah enjoyed raw red pepper today a birthday party. Tilly's friend was 3 and he was the only boy at his own party. The girls were like his little harem...
DP has gone out with his family to a fire festival which my sis and I are taking the girls to tomorrow night (DP away with lads!). His dad kindly trod dog poo into the living room and then said it was our fault because the girls weren't in bed and DP wasn't ready to go!!! It was only 7pm!
Mopped the floor and have sprinkled bicarb and tea tree and lavender oil onto doormat...hopefully with a brush and hoover later it should smell better?

Ah men eh Uni, they'll do 'owt to get out of feeding a baby......
Crikey what are we feeding here finger food wise, let me think, we've tried Pasta/Toast with various toppings, cream cheese sarnies which go down very well, as does the toast, tried egg chunks, but more on floor....cuecumber gets a good gumming, apple slices get choked on but pear and banana go down ok! as do rice cakes (yuk)
Astro, sounds like your doing all the right things food wise, I reckon, you've just got a lively little one, whose using up his food as energy
LL, little mite eh she knows when they can try it on with mum eh!
LizzyL, pilates is good don't reckon you need to loose weight to go tho just go do it, its not aerobic exercise, so things won't bounce, its all that orrible small movement toning stuff that gets those hidden muscles sorted out and re shapes bits of you!
We have teething here today a whole lotta dribble and crying and mummmmmmmmmyyyyyyyyyyyyyy wahhhhhhh

astro- apple crisps/rings- NOT perfected them yet. I tried 1hr on 100 and got something that is tasty, rubbery but won;t keep, not dry enough. need to try again with thinner rings I think next time I have the oven on doing somthing else low and slow as its lot of power to spend on apples. I thread the rings on wooden kebab sticks and ballance ontop of a cake tin.

LL- BLW- we are trying finger food as well, so of a mixed approach. He like brad sticks, cream crackers, tiny bits of chease and rings of pear or cucmber.Seems to not view veg as something to put in his mouth otherwise. I need to be anle to leave him with dh for a weekend oin a months time, so keen to get some slop in as that will ba a good way for dh to get milk into him. Hes not always willing to drink milk from a cup tho will generally drink water. Ist all not helped by dh putting head in the sand about this and not being keen on feeding him/ giving him a beaker of milk.

ooh forgot to say that Little Miss Naughty had 6oz of EBM at my Mum's yesterday whilst I was at work so she hadn't forgotton how to have a bottle at all the little minx!
No excuses now to not get off my bum and do some work so off to London for a day in November. Didn't get my tender of last week so more time for MNing.

Wahey Kiah is 6 months old today!!
Wow, Lizzy I am very of those long sleeps!! I seem to remember that I had a brilliant sleeper a month or so ago but someone replaced her with a terrible one. The other nighht she was wide awake at 4am talking to us. She said Hiya, Mummy, Daddy and Yeah!!! We were getting her to answer questions with these noises which was a bit naughty encouraging her at that time but very cute!
Sarah, if the boy is still gaining weight why not go Baby Led Weaning (look no acronym!)and drop the puress? Kiah had pasta pesto last night and managed to eat a whole tube. She gets lots of broccoli down according to her nappies too. Have a look at www.babyledweaning.com if you haven't already....
Astro, what centile is Eli down to now and are you worried or just the HV? Sounds like he is still having plenty of boob - even if it is in the night time. Is he still really lively and lots of wet nappies? How's his bum BTW?
Friz, at least your cousin has had some news which even though it isn't good at least is giving them a clearer picture eh? It 's all so awful at what should be such a great time for them.

Report
Astrophe · 28/09/2006 21:35

Oh Friz, so sorry about your cousins lad

Interesting Uni - Eli wont touch anything with EBM in it - I think it just reminds him of what I'm not giving him! He is now reluctantly taking yighurt and fruit off a spoon, but everything else (ie not sweet!) he must hold himself so finger food it is. He has sandwiches, pasta, some fresh tuna steak with tomato and cheese sauce (!), rice cakes, cheese, pieces of fruit etc and is loving it, although don't know how much is going down!

Last time I weighed him he had lost 40g HV says if he keeps dropping we will get reffered to peade.

LL - so tell us how to make this pancake then! - sounds brill. Any other grat ideas for finger food anyone?

Oh, and Uni, how do you do apple crisps? Just whack them in a low oven?

Jackstini, your country walks sound lovely. Unfortunately I would still have a toddler blathering in my ear though! Am thinking of sending DD to nursery for an extra arvo (as all I do is clean the house on her nursery morning) and perhaps DS for 2 hours on the same arvo so I can go to the gym. I feel a bit sad as I know DD will be in 'propper' nursery soon enough and she is only 2, and DS only 6 months...but I just really need the space and some time to do my own thing. I think that will really help me. Also planning on having a designated scrapbooking morning once a month when DH can take the kids away - otherwise I will just never get round to it.

LL, any luck o the sleep front? Ours is dreadful too - 2-4 wakes per night and unsettled all evening. I think it is partly down to overtiredness (in the evenings anyway) but feel like it can't be helped as I have to run around all day keeping DD busy, so haven't time for DS to have lovely long naps! Mean Mummy!

After all our rellies leave (end of Oct...they stary arriving on Thursday) he will go to his own room and we will have to control cry I think. as it is not something I am comfortable with.

Jackstini- your countryside walks with flask and book sound fantastic...just a pity I live in the windy wilds of Lancashire or I would have been tempted
LL - I am thick but what is a BLW baby?

Hope all are well, Benedict has bad nappy rash but has slept through 7-6 for the last two nights again so feel a bit more human!
