The boy done good. Last night I did the late nioght feed when he woke up himself at 10ish. Then he slept 11ish till 2.30 and 3ish till 6.30. Hurrah. At 6.30am I don't mind getting up and going up to the living room to feed him and play for a hour or so. I object to doing it at 5am. With a bit of luck he'll do similar tonight, tho dh coming back from pub might make things interesting. Dh is sure to be tiddly as hes hardly drunk anything while I've not been drinking, bless him. Hes meeting up with 5 other new dads to wet babies heads.
My 2nd night in on my own this week as Dh did a spot of baby sitting for a friend the other night.

Today we found an Emporihum of baby clobber- a second hand kids stuff shop in Exeter called "jackanory" WOW. I could have spent far too much money there. As it was we came home with a cot, travel cot, baby gym, really cute baby gap patchwork dungerees AND change from 100 quid. I think I will be shopping there again.
Anyone got exciting plans for the Bank holiday? I think we will catching up on the garden.

UniSarah · 29/04/2006 20:44

OOHhh forgot todays small victory- I'm wearing Jeans again! hurrah.

admittedly they were bagy before and now they are tight fitting- but hey its a small victory in the battle to get my body back from the spare tyre that has enveloped it.

gothicmama · 30/04/2006 10:43

uni sarah well done on the jeans front. That shop sounds fab unfortunately a bit too far to travel.
laundtry lover thanks guess I was kinda feeling guilty cos bf dd until she was 18 months

jackstini best tip do when you are relaxed and know you have milk according to hv evening is worse time becasue supply dwindles. Also I found hand pump easier but I think it is what ever works for you so try hand expressing as well.

we are off to a green man festival tomorrow so will be trying the baby carrier for the first time (fingers crossed it doesn't rain)

coppertop · 30/04/2006 13:53

Just catching up with all these posts and photos.

Dd seems to be a bit more settled now and no longer has to be held all of the time - just 90% of it. :o

Does anyone else have a baby who rarely burps but is almost constantly farting? The looks I got when taking her out in her sling. I think people thought that I was the culprit. Blush Sorry to lower the tone!

Dd has her 6wk check-up next week. I can't believe that 6 weeks have gone by already. Shock

Hope everyone else is doing okay. :)

Marne · 30/04/2006 14:09

coppertop, another farting baby here, dd2 has her 6 week check on tuesday and she's doing dd1's 2 year check at the same time.

Hope the rest of you are ok, hav'nt had time to read all the posts as dd's are being hard work.

UniSarah · 30/04/2006 15:08

Yet another farting baby here. I keep thinking I need to change a poohy nappy to find it was just a seris of mega farts. ho hum, have to keep sniffing his backside to work out what gone on!

Funny sort of sunday here at chez uni- I have my little boy asleep by my side having drunk masses and got all over excited, while down inthe spare room my big boy ( dh) is fast asleep having drunk masses and got all excited last night while out on the town with 5 other new dads wetting babies heads! Hes soooo hung over hes pulled out of the first cricket match of the season for his team!
I'm goingto see if Ian doze on the sofa to compleate the trio of sleepy uni people.

Jackstini · 30/04/2006 16:41

Yep coppertop - dd is another baby that doesn't burp much; in fact have taken to calling her Little Miss Trumpalot.
Friz - I will try expressing again tomorrow am then. Gothicmama - have tried hand expressing to no avail but not tried a hand pump yet so will see if I can get one.
Tbh I am wondering if using the nipple shields is affecting my supply but just cannot get dd to latch on without them Sad
Unisarah - congrats on the jeans and the bargainous shopping!!

Munz · 30/04/2006 17:00

ct - 6 weeks, god how I wish Joey was still only that age - althou some days I don't at 6 weeks he was having a terrible growth spurt - well 5 weeks and 6 was just as unsettled, can't beleive Joey's 9.5 weeks already! Shock the time really does go quickly.

uni - we've also been thinking of doing a dream feed - but on recommendation from a MNetter here DH has been giving Joey a bottle at 2 ish when he wakes (between 1 and 2) then I feed at 6 when he wakes up then I also express when DH is doing the bottle - with the bot he's asleep again within 30 mins with me it take him that long to get latched and have a good suckle! lol. how did u find the baby massage? we loved it this end Joey was very happy to be pampered and oiled up! :o lol.

friz - i'm thinking 6 months as well for feeding - or unless I can't do it that long.

jack - electric pump for me as well - def not hand pump, even with Joey sucks on the other side I only got 1oz out and I leak that so didn't think it was worth it. althou with the electric I'm only getting 2.5oz/ 3 each boob. like friz find 9/10 ish approx 1/2 hour after Joey feeds I watch tv he's asleep and I have a cuppa/a bit of cake and do it then.

not much going on here, Joey's been a dream sleeping of late, he's been asleep by 9 (me by 9.30 thou so not all good! lol) dh has been oding the bottle at 1/2 ish and i've been feeding at 6 ish - Joey's decided that's the time I should be up - and it doesn't matter what I do he's up and alert then - but by 7 he's asleep again in his chair! lol.

I have yet another infection same boob - althou I think this time it's all come out - eitehr thta or I was a bit rough at pushing my boob down when expressing last night. we're managing at least 7 hours sleep per night even if it is broken but i'm happy with that and then we have a nap about 3pm for 2 hours/1.5 hours, althou DH is back to work on tuesday so fingers crossed Joey stays like this. Washing machine's broken on sat morning - got the guy out the circuits gone cos of a power cut we had on friday night Angry so hotpoint are coming out on weds if he can't fix it then DH has promised me a new one with one of theose little screns yay! lol. still not too happy as at the mo i'm manageing to keep on top of all the house work/washing by doing a load as soon as the washers full (the laundry bin's now redundant! lol) then straight out onto the line and ironing done opnce a week for half hour! lol - quite surprising how quickly the time's going and we've settled down into things.

anyhow best get off the lkittel guy will be awake for feeding in a bit - tlaking of which he's struggaling with day time naps - he's roughly on the EASY plan, but he'll wake after a 45 min nap (ish) still screaming/tired so we'll have a quite cuddles and he'll go asleep again for another 45 mins ish then wake up fully alert and happy, i'm sure he'd benifit form a ful 1.5 hour nap but not sure wahgt to do from here. any ideas? (by night he'll sleep fine and doesn't wake except for a feed so can't complain there)

Munz · 30/04/2006 17:01

oh jack - also never tried the sheilds so no help there - oh boy's crying!

gothicmama · 30/04/2006 21:08

jack I have one for sale if you want to try hand pump (it was teh best option for me managed 2oz at atime and it was very easy)
March must be the month fo rtrumping babies

Toothyboy · 30/04/2006 22:00

Hi all!! I find the Avent Isis hand pump is fine. After the first feed in the morning I can usually get about 6oz from the other breast (which I give to ds2 at 10.30-11pm).

So glad to read everyone's doing so well. Little Matthew now weighs 8lb 11oz - he'll be 10 weeks tomorrow. He sleeps well day and night as long as I get him to bed on time, otherwise he screams the place down and will not settle at all.

Frizbe · 30/04/2006 22:11

Lol at all the trumpy babies, mine does a bit, but is a champion belcher, no one can quite believe its not me when she does one Blush

Munz, been trying to think about your little ones naps in the day...is he in his own bed upstairs then? or just in bouncer/moses/buggy downstairs?? think your doing the right thing by the sound of it, was just wondering if something may be waking him if he's downstairs?.....hopefully one day he'll crack it and just sleep thru?

Lol at your house hold of sleepy boys Unisarah, hope you managed some kip too?

Hope you don't get rained on Gothicmama, although the forecast isn't good.....

Hopeing dd1 is feeling better tomorrow here....yest we went out to a farm park and she fell over (her own fault) onto a tile floor, teeth 1st..... they're still in, but hurting her to bite......so all foods been mushed, if no better by tue, dentist it is....Sad

OP posts:
gothicmama · 30/04/2006 22:26

toothy that's the one I have just wish I wasn;'t back on pacement so soon as just didn't get the enough time at home to make it work.

here's hoping the little ones get their sleep sorted ds is better in the day than at night

Munz · 01/05/2006 09:18

toothy - Joey's 10 weeks on thurs and he's 12lb 2oz! Shock how big was matthew when he was born? (or is Joey just a porker! lol) Joey's the same with his sleep, if we don't catch him at the right time he'll scream like a banshie. I wonder if that's just boys?

friz - he's in his bouncer down staris, somehting that MIL started when Joey was 3 weeks old and every time I try to go back to the crib he creates after about 20 mins so I leave him in his bouncer, normally thou I put the tv on mute and leave the room shut the gate and either potter wityh the house work or have a shower or something. possibly it's worth tryin the bed again. hopefully things might improve from now as we're not due any visitors for a good while now.

Joey did really well last night again, he went to sleep at 8.30pm (our aimed time) woke at 1.30 took a 5 oz bottle then went back down till 6.30 so no complaints here. it seems to work really well DH feeding his bottle and me expressing down stairs (also means I get a midnight snack! lol) fingers crossed this seems to be the pattern he's getting himself into with his sleep - or at least we've had one day out of the past week when he's woken up twice in the night before 6. althou we shall see what happens when DH goes back to work. ooh and DH has said I can go home for 2 weeks at the end of may so fingers crossed mum/dad won't mind and DH's work play ball with us! :o

fingers crossed the rest of u guys manage to sort the sleeping patterns out.

Frizbe · 01/05/2006 09:58

Hurrah Munz re the sleep thing, sounds like its working a treat, dd2 was great last night, she had a 4oz bottle at 11 and slept until 5am, ahhh bliss, then she yo yo'd in and out of bed with me until 9am, as that was when dd1 decided to get up Shock must have been very tired.....and she did partially wake at 5am same time as dd2 screaming her teeth were hurting, but she managed to drop to sleep again, without me waking her properly.....
I'd try the bed thing again Munz, might take him a while to learn to settle on his own, but worth it for when he's too big for his bouncer Smile

UniSarah · 01/05/2006 11:55

Sleep seems to be the obsession of the week on here then! Our late night feed is going OK, tho it takes a while to wake boy up enough to feed.I'm not expressing as I don't want to get into bottles at all if I don't have too and as theres need to do so for childcare as I'm a SATH mum.
I'm going to fight the day time naps battle once hes in a proper cot, for now most of them happen in rocker chair or pram.
Dh is back in land of living today. Going to drag him up the hill for a walk later.

Jackstini · 01/05/2006 13:54

Friz - tried expressing at 10 am today on your advice
Munz - had a cop of tea and some malt loaf on yours! - managed 2oz - not huge but 6 times more than the first day so getting better.
She is now 9lb exactly so am not worried about milk supply any more as she has put on 6oz in 9 days and is 7oz above birth weight at 4 wks oldSmile
Gothicmama - thanks for the offer re the pump - I had a post from Starlover last night saying same thing on another thread so hopefully I have one on the way! Thinking it will be useful at the end of June when I have a 10.5 hour flight - can't imagine the racket from my electric one would go down very well!
Glad the sleeping is settling for some. DD finished feeding at 12.15am and went through til 6.20 so that's 3 nights this week I have had 6 hours sleep in a row!!

Munz · 01/05/2006 14:07

jack - your doing fab honney, 7oz above her birth weight is fab. I keep stressing about my supply but mum recons the more u stress the more liekly it will go ealry. also excellent ont he expressing, I only managed 2 oz with an electric pump after 6 weeks (in fact only jsut mnageing 3oz now after 9.5 weeks! lol)

Jackstini · 01/05/2006 14:24

Thanks Munz - do feel better now. Have just been on ebay and bought a breastfeeding necklace to keep her entertained and focussed while on the boob!

laundrylover · 01/05/2006 22:46

Wow you lot have been busy posting! Nice to see some old names off the ante-natal thread too.
Kiah is a major player in the fart league and can belch like a bloke too!
Am having her weighed tomorrow as am still amazed at how quickly and seldom she feeds (compared to Tilly) although I know she is a porker!!
On the expressing front I can do 3-4oz (that's both sides combined) in about 15 mins with my Avent. I do this most mornings at breakfast. I am well chuffed with this as much easier than last time so chill out first timers! Kiah doesn't seem to need a bottle really so am building up a store for a girl's night out next weekend.Grin

Cadmum · 02/05/2006 17:03

I must be 1/2 COW! Blush I am still leaking at every feed and can express 5 oz in less than 5 minutes.

We went to Washington DC for the week-end and our first family vacation with 4 children went really well. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely. We managed to tire everyone out enough that they even slept in the hotel room.

I am feeling exhausted because we didn't get back home until midnight on Sunday and I can't seem to catch up on lost sleep.

Hope you are all well. (Meant to add that DD2 will be weighed tomorrow but I suspect that she is over 12 lbs so she must be able to access 5 oz in 5 minutes as well...)

Jackstini · 02/05/2006 20:10

Envy Cadmum - I got about 5ml in 5 minutes!

Cadmum · 02/05/2006 20:51

Are you suggesting that I am 3/4 cow then? Smile

Frizbe · 02/05/2006 21:09

Yes Caddy we are Grin you jammy thing! I can do 2oz in about 15mins.....hurumph.....
We have our 8 week check on Thurs and the jabs, argh! sure dd2 will be ok, dd1 was....will see what they say about her bit of tongue tie as well.....
Jackstini glad the expressing went better, good luck for the flight, shame you'll have to waste the milk, but sure the USA won't allow it in Grin
Kept dd1 off nursery today, as teeth still a bit poorly, dh was supposed to help look after her, as I have lots of work to do, harharharhahahah like that happened....ho hum....at least she's feeling lots better now Grin hurrah no trip to the dentist after all.....

Guzzle guts Ed got measured today, for the first time since birth he co-operated (tho yelling full blast throughout!) and hes 57cm long/tall, that 5cm longer than at birth and they really stretched him out at birth. I'm impressed, its no wonder hes out grown most of his baby grows.
New baby club today had a vist from the baby massage lady, so Ed got a good oiling, he liked most of it, just objected to his tummy and chest being done, I'm told he was even smiling while I was doing his arms, but he was in my lap looking out so I couldn't see :-( the only smiles I see are the ones when he seeing my boobs and realises hes about to get more grub.
