Munz- I'm amazed you got 6 weeks out of new born clothes, we got about 3 weeks, less for some of them. Ed is firmly in 0-3 month now, and a few 3-6 month vests fit him nicely. Partly its a terry nappy thing, but on some baby grows its been his feet hitting the end that has spelled their demise. We even passed on on some of his early days stuff to another expectant couple yesterday. What goes around comes around.
If only I could let teh boy sleep on his front at night, it would be so much simpler to get him off to sleep. Working a treat at the mo is lie him face down on ones lap and pat out a rythum on his back and bum like hes a pair of bongo drums, calms him down when hes fracing and sends him to sleep.

Munz: Glad you have a solution... and that Joey is doing better. Envy about the early bedtime and no feeds between 1am and 6! You must be doing a great job! None of my little ones have ever slept like that at 6 weeks! We had to give DD diluted prune juice once a day. (It was fun fielding all of the 'Is that Coke?' questions from curious (nosey) onlookers. Eventually, I actually told people that it was Coke just to see the reactions.)

Jackstini: Thanks for the answers to my nosey questions... It took me a fair amount of time (and plenty of doubling the pitocin drip) to actually feel the contractions properly and then they would fade to nothing so I was dreading a C-Section my whole labour. Nobody checks you after your delivery here(unless you drag yourself into the Dr.) but I think that my uterus took a lot longer to contract back down as well... At the time, I thought that DD's refusal to feed might have been a factor. I hope for your sake that it isn't something that would happen again. Would you opt for a section without a trial of labour?

Laundrylover: As soon as Charlotte is fed, I will check out your birth announcement. Thanks for posting one. (I've yet to summon the courage to tell my tale.Blush)

Dd is another member of the Fuzzy Ears club. I think ds1 and ds2 both had fuzzy backs but I'm not sure about the ears. Makes it sound like we have a family of little chimps! :o

I'm very Envy of those of you with sleeping babies. Dd is awake and howling unless someone lets her sleep on their chest. I'm even typing this with dd sleeping on me. Dh was over-the-moon on Monday night because dd had slept for 90 minutes without waking up so we're a long way from 4 hours at a time.

Dd has almost been given the all-clear about her jaundice. Her blood test results were all fine and she's finally losing her fake tan look. :o Hopeully the MW will be discharging us after this week and we won't need any more home visits.

am one handed as have the amazing pooing machine on my shoulder! My God, where does it all come from?? She was weighed on day 6 (missed the mw on day 4 due to leaving the house with the girls in a strop!!) and had gained 2oz but must have surely pooed it all out since!
really enjoying this thread and impressed by the good sleepers. Kiah is doing well, feeding lots but sleeping in between but it's early days yet... with the help of a sticker chart Tilly is finally less of a horror at nights and we are a calmer household.
Jackstini, hope your uterus starts to shrink soon - the bfing should help it go eh?
Munz - guess your doc is a bloke eh?!

Crikey Jackstini, hope all is back in place soon, reckon caddys c-sect suggestion would be a good idea in your case for any family additions, good luck in finding anything in small sizes not in pink/purple for small ones! I've just had two years of dd1 having blue for a fav colour, what a mare trying to find a nice top in blue for a girl.....

Munz, sounds like your doing a great job to me honey Grin

Unisarah Grin re the bongo baby Grin

Coppertop good news re jaundice Smile sure the sleep thing will come with time

LL know what you mean about pooing....and they always seem to do it in a row as well!

Well we've moved into size 2 nappies today, due to the poo explosions! and are now also firmly in 0-3 clothes, so just about squeezed 4 weeks out of the newborn stuff! Damn boiler on the blink again tho, we have heating, but no hot water?? what's going on??? plumber back out tomorrow.....

I think the boy knackered himself this afternoon. He was refusing to go to sleep and had been awake for about 5 hours when I, growing tired of the screaming, put him inthe pram and walked him up and down the road for 10 min. Hes been asleep in the parm ever since - 3 hours now....
So much for trying to get him into a routine that suits our timing. Compleate failure this afternoon. When he does wake up I'm going to try changeing and feeding him and putting him to bed properly and see what happens. Its going to be one grim nappy change tho, as hes been in a bimble since about 4 O'clock and they are only little first size nappies, he needs to be in a bumble overnight. Must try and get DH to do that change as he normally does the boys bedtime change :o
Been odd having an evening with out the boy :(

Hi Cadmum - doc has still not really said what has caused it, just that my uterus feels like I only had dd yesterday. Depending on the reasons (that I will hopefully drag out of them at my 6 week check) it is highly likely same situation would occur next time so yes Friz - may have to have elective CS. Can't believe Scarlett is only 6 days old and I am talking about next babies Shock
We had a lovely projectile poop & wee situation today - dh's face was an absolute picture!
Don't know I mentioned we had to have some tests before discharge from the hospital as paedatrician thought he heard a slight heart murmur. Specialist checked it out and we have now got an appt at the heart murmur clinic on the 20th. Fingers crossed it turns out to be one of the very mild reasons - it may even clear up altogether by then as might just be waiting for the heart/lung duct to close.
Anyway she is a very happy baby most of the time and every time I look at all her spikey hair it makes me smile - feel very lucky to have her.
Glad for all of you getting more sleep - long may it continue and pass those vibes on to the wakeful babes!

Friz - our boiler went the other week and I had a real panic in case the baby came! give that plumber some earache.
jackstini, hope the heart murmur clears up of it's own accord.
Kiah's cord fell off today and it turned up two nappies later - where was it hiding??
was thinking of ordering some more night nappies but maybe I should get size 2 then? am used to my prefolds so any tips on type welcomed. have a bamboozle but takes ages to dry so am preferring the fluffle...

surgest NOT getting 1st size nappies LL- unles your LO is tiny - ED s 1st size bimbles are only good for a couple of hours, slightly longer in the tots bots as it has more layers. Overnight hes in the bigger thicker bumbles to reduce the night time changes.

Today i met a friends 3 week old, just weekyounger than Ed but Tiny, a pound lighter and so much smaller. Brought it home to me Why people look at my lad and say " hes big isn't he"

first trip out of the house alone yesterday! and i took the plunge and went into town. probably shouldn't have done that though as i spent far too much money. girly shopping is so much fun after 2 boys, although i have now seen some gorgeous boys clothing, especially in pumpkin patch. i brought loads in next, debenhams (great sale), pumpkin patch, zara, mothercare and i got 2 lovely outfits for £4 each in primark!
it was lucy's first trip on a bus as well, and probably her last as the buses in our new area are very rarely lowriders and you have to fold your pram/buggy, which is fine on the way into town but not so good on the way home, so we got a taxi home :o

drove for the first time today, and it was fine, only drove to my mums, which is less than five minutes away, more to see how it felt rather than wanting to drive, have rather got used to our daily walks, so would be a shame to become dependant on the car again.

we are at a loose end tomorrow as my mum is taking the boys to thorpe park, to give me some peace and quiet, but to be honest its not the boys who disturb me, its lucy who has become a bit of a grizzle monster in the last couple of days, she takes ages to wind after a feed and even double doses of infacol don't seem to help, if you don't get ehre wind up properly she cries constantly and i hate to see her in pain. i have even changed what i eat to see if that helps, have cut out all fizzy drinks and been carfeul with my fruit and veg intake, avoiding gas producing culprits such as broccoli or cauli, and sticking to carrots, peas, green beans etc.

we know that lucy is growing wel though as at 3 weeks old she has already outgrown most of her newborn clothes and is now in 0-3, which helps me to justify to dh why i needed to go shopping yesterday, still haven't told him about the lot of clothing i have brought of ebay as well, there are some real bargains to be had on there, especially if you canget on in the day, i brought lucy some lovely next dress sets that are still avaliable in next for 99p each!, the cardigan i brought still had its tages on!

keep well ladies and hope your little ones don't wear you out too much:o

Its becomeing clear that many of Eds clothes are not cut for terries, the vest hes in today is a 3-9 month 12-18lb according to the label. His somwhere over 9lb 8 but nowhere near 12lb, and this vest fits perfectly. Maybe american babies are heavier than Uk ones, its a US vest.
Boy is now in his rocker which me rocking it with one foot, I'm trying to get him off to sleep as I think he will benifit from a bit of an afternoon nap, last few days hes not had one and has been vile in the evening. So far hes resisting sleep but is still calm , I really don't want him wound up and screaming when dh gets home again, I'd like dh to see his son when the lads calm.
Got bedtime forward to 10pm ( and boy asleep by 11) last night, going to try for 9.30 today , decided to do this gently. As last night I tried getting him to sleep from 7pm and failed utterly, gave up at 8.30 then when we did the bedtime routine at 10 it worked a dream...

i learnt to take no notice of size labels sarah and just go with what fits. my mum picked up some lovely little vests by 'cut 4 cloth' but they were in a sale so think they would usually be a bit pricey. we have opposite problem now as tilly in knickers but still needs teeny jeans which are all cut for nappies!
kiah has horrible sticky eyes today so am trying to express a bit into a bowl to bathe them with but may have to dig out the pump...
here's to a quiet night everyone....

Hello ladies. Just to let you know Seren had her op yesterday (it was to increase the blood flow to her left lung). All went well and the doctors are pleased with her progress. I manged to sleep most of the time while she was in the op due to being a wicked mummy and abandoning her the night before to go to a mumsnet meetup.(Curry and far to much red wine Grin). All being well she should be leaving ICU over the w/e and going up to the cardiac ward.

Catj - great news re Seren. Really pleased docs feel like all went well
Friz - yes I would be up for a Notts/Derby meet up - would be my first mumsnet meet!
Was really pleased with Scarlett last night - did the bedtime routine about 10-10.30, she fed at 3.25, 6.30 and then woke at 10am! Not reading anything into it - just grateful!
We have got 2 parties to go to tomorrow so a big tiring day for us all and lots of people who will see her for the first time.... should be fun...

catj, glad all went ok with Serens op, and glad you had a well deserved good time at the mumsnet meet Grin hurrah for red wine, infact might have a wee glass tonight me thinks, feeling I deserve some after managing the 1st day of the Easter hols with 3.....dd1 has decided to keep dd2 up all day, so will start bedtime routine next week when she's 6 weeks and pop her in cot for afternoon nap, so dd1 can't bug her! also dh at work all weekend and all next week....so no break in sight!

Jackstini, will have to organise something soon then, as dd2 has suddenly decided to have an extra feed in the middle of the night, she's thrown me the last few days, am going to bottle her (with boob milk) at 11pm tonight and see if we can't get back into the old routine where by I get more sleep!! Grin will let you all know how it goes....

nice when they do that jackstini isn't it. Hope it continues for you. Once Ed got into that sort of routine he stayed with it- more or less, sometimes he fluffs it, sometimes I screw up and don;t change his nappy when I shopuld have done in the middle of the night.
I hate doing a nappy at 4am, but he seems to need it many nights.
We bought him a baby grow today- the first NEW one we have bought him and at £4 the most expensize item of clothing we have bought him as well. BUT it is white with Red St Georges Cross on it, and will make his granddads so proud. Also - we are taking him with us to a big international sports event in July , he will be the baby of the British team.

Just saying hello as you're right Sarah it's gone very quiet!! Kiah has an England T-shirt ready for the world cup too.
Friz - just read on another thread that your babe is feeding all evening and then sleeping well at night - Kiah is the same! She would happily guzzle for 4 hours but goes 4 hours in between feeds the rest of the time. Anyway tonight she took 2.5oz of EBM (first try, greedy bugger!) and has gone to bed at 10.30, phew...lets hope it continues to improve.

5 mums and babies and 5 prams did take a up a lot of space in a not very big cafe... Oh well the staff seemed happy enough with our custom on a wet lunch time and helped us up and down the steps at the entrance. Offical re-union next week, when the dads will be there too. should be fun and rather crowded.

umm! have to agree it is very quiet on here, is it because they are all like lucy, who is currently being rocked on one leg, while i type this, she just won't settel on an evening, i thought no3 would be the easiest, as ahad been ther eand done it twice before, but she is completley different, so much for me saying thsta surely no difference between boys and girls at this age!

lucy will breastfeed for 2 hour stretch on a morning and i can spen most evenings sat on the sofa with my boobs out, i think it is more for comfort than for feeding though, so i admit we have tried a dummy andeven tried topping her up with formula on a night time, but neither work, so back to the boobs. the boys have taken to walking into the lounge and walking back out again saying mummys got her boobies out again!! they are fascinated though and refuse to beleive that they used to be breastfed too, as surely babies drink from bottles? (ds1 never had a bottle, breastfed for a year and then onto cups and ds2 only bf for 9 months and then had a bottle for 2 months before using a cup and he never really took to bottles)

lucy will be 4 weeks tomorrow, can't beleive it how time flies, i was in mothercare and a woman asked me how old she was, when i said three weeks she replied oh shes so old mine is only 3 days!!!!!!!!!

hope everyone is well, look forward to more updates and best wishes to seren and family.
