Uni Sarah, thanks for the calming tip, will try it when req'd!

Munz, I take it your trying every winding trick in the book hon, have you tried a cranial osteopath, a fair few people on the feb thread have tried them for wind and colic probs and swear they have different babies! so maybe you could try this route??

UniSarah · 01/04/2006 16:51

What a glorious spring day. At last the sun is shining and Ed has been introdued to the garden. We had a short wonder round showing him the Daffs and the new garlic coming up. Not that the boy will have taken any notice, but it was good for me to get out and take a look.

My exercise for teh day was taking a saw to teh old greenhouse staging to cut it down for the new smaller G-house. Got dhto shift it into its new home tho, as too heavy for me to carry up from the lawn where the greenhouse installer had parked it.
Lawn had to be mowed today as well. The joys of being in Devon where the grass grows all year.

Just caught up with you all and read the whole thread, great to be 'allowed' on here at last as thought my bump was gonna stick around for ever!!
Kiah (rhymes with 'hiya') arrived on Weds. Had 'half a homebirth' as last two hours delivering in hospital but home straight from delivery room after 3 hours! Will post details soon before they get lost in the fog of sleep deprivation.
Good to hear how you are all gettting on - we are firmly in the co sleeping club and Marne Kiah was on her front this morning but at least she was asleep!!!Smile
Hope Seren and now Joey are doing OK....

coppertop · 01/04/2006 19:03

Thinking of you and Seren, Catj. I hope the tests and the op all go well for Seren, xx

I spent yesterday afternoon at the Children's Ward having dd's jaundice assessed. It was starting to clear up a little but dd had a sudden relapse and was hardly feeding at all. She has an appointment at the jaundice clinic for next week but so far all the blood tests have come back negative. We're just waiting for the results of a couple more. The hospital have given me 2 sample bottles and instructed me to catch some of dd's wee in it. You can imagine how much 'fun' that is! :o

Typically dd is now having a feeding frenzy and seems a lot more like her usual self. :)

vickiyumyum · 01/04/2006 19:59

HI all, glad everyone is doing well and that we have a few more additions to teh club!

haven't been on for ages as my pc has a virus and is in the 'clinic', so can only use a pc at the weekend when i go to visit my dad!

Lucy and i are doing well, i was readmitted to hospital on wednesday night as i couldn't breath! turns out during the delivery they cracked one of my ribs, and i hadn't noticed before as had been taking regular pain releif and only noticed when i stopped taking it, as was in a lot of pain, alos think it was aggravated by the fact that the bra i was wearing was tighter than my normal bras!!!! was only in for one day and night, but had to have scans and tests to rule out dvt's or pe, and Lucy couldn't come with me as on a genreal medical ward so my mum had her and had to formula feed her, and then she had to be formula fed for another 24 hours as one of the scans was radioactive! seems to be fine now and gradually weaning her of the formula feeds and back onto the breast.

Def going to be the last with all the problems that i have had during the pregnancy and since, hoefully that was the last incident and we can get on with normality mow.

must say it hasn't stopped me shopping, not sure when, if the novelty of buying pink girly things will wear off, so making the most of it. also brought a red pram as dh wouldn't let me have a pink one, with the boys i wanted navy prams.

take care and look forward to hearing for you all,as there will be no more march 06 babies! they have all been born now! :o

catj · 01/04/2006 20:01

Hiya! Just on here quickly to update you all. Seren is still in the ICU but is borderline for going onto the cardiac ward. As ICU is quiet they decided to keep her there as a precaution. I even got to cuddle her today! She gets very stroppy with the nurses when she doesn't like what they are doing and makes her feelings known very loudly. Don't know when she will have her op as the pulmonary artery needs to grow a bit more.

Cadmum · 01/04/2006 21:25

vickiyumyum: I cannot believe what you have been through! Outrageous. Hope you are back in the shops ASAP!

Catj: fantastic news about Seren being so vocal and nearly able to be on the cardiac ward instead of ICU. Will she have to stay in hospital until she has had her op? How are you coping with 3 other daughters as well? As I said on the other thread, Seren is very blessed to have such a great mum.

Frizbe · 02/04/2006 16:47

Good news catj, glad they've spotted it and dd sounds like she's dealing with it just fine Smile

Yikes VYY, hope your feeling as ok as you can with a cracked rib!

Has everyone delivered now? must go and check the threads Smile hurrah!

Hi all - Scarlett Anne finally arrived on 30 March so can finally join you on here now!
I can see it will take me a while to catch up with the thread so will perhaps do a marathon read tomorrow.
Just written the full birth announcement so for those that want the details is \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?rn=90313&topicid=1370&threadid=160966&redir=90313\here}

UniSarah · 02/04/2006 22:06

Is any one elses 3 week old seemingly frustrated by the lack of locomotion they acheieve when on their tummy. DS is rather grounded by his nappy but claws the towel under him in away that looks like he would move forward if his knees touched the ground. He can and does manage to haul himslef up Dhs or my chest by grabbing T-shirt and pulling while pushing up with his legs. I didn't expect this much desire to move from a 3 week old.
UniSarah

coppertop · 03/04/2006 10:22

UniSarah - Yes, I was surprised by how mobile dd is at only 2 weeks old. She's very strong and can actually roll over already! Shock She stretches herself out, arches her back and then does a slow-motion roll over. I'm sure my older 2 weren't like this so early.

Catj - It's good to hear that Seren will hopefully soon be out of ICU.

Frizbe · 03/04/2006 12:54

Coppertop, rolling yikes Grin looks like you have a lively one there! my friend had a super mobile baby who could lift his head and chest clear of the floor at two weeks, he was cruising by 6mths and walking properly by 8! when my poor old dd was still unable to crawl,lol.....
Unisarah, yep dd2 is a good head n shoulders lifter when she's upright, also meant to say to you yest, that she still has furry ears too!! Grin

OP posts:
RosiePosie · 03/04/2006 14:28

Congratulations to Jackstini and Klara, and apologies if I've forgotton to congratulate anyone.

I've posted my birth story on "birth announcements" if you're interested. Be warned. . it's long!!

Cadmum · 03/04/2006 19:59

Jackstini: your (non)-labour sounds like a nighmare that I had shortly before being induced. I didn't think that it could actually happen to someone. Do the Drs have an explanation for your lack of contractions? Would it happen again?

Congrats Klara!

Great to see both of you on the post-natal thread.

Uni-Sarah: Charlie also has furry little ears and I had only just noticed on the day you posted. (It blends in with her hair IYKWIM.) She is our first baby with hair on her ears. She also has a fine downy coat on her shoulders and upper arms... No interest in moving although she does grab everthing within reach; she flung a plate off the table the other day. Sounds like you have a feisty one!

vickiyumyum · 03/04/2006 20:19

Lucy has furry ears too! hope that goes before she get smuch older otherwise will have to wax them!LOL!

catj-missed the birth story for seren, but glad that she is doing well and hope she makes speedy progress for you.

having a cracked rib hasn't stopped my shopping, i still have trusty old ebay (got soem very good bargains there, current next stock for 99p!)plus a number of other online shops even online shopping at m&s! and if i'm really desperate i can just do my weekly shop at ocado :o

poppyh · 04/04/2006 08:29

How funny, Esme has furry ears too!Dont remember the other 2 having them!!Its actually really dark hair too, how strange!!
Catj, hope all is well with you and that seren is doing ok.Thoughts with you.

UniSarah · 04/04/2006 12:04

so hairy ears are pretty common then. theres so many little things about baies that don't make it into the books!

yes Ed is a feisty one! hes been lifting his head up almost from the start and does a good line in head butting when hes not getting what he wants. not that we can work out what it is he DOES want. Feeed, yes, nappy dry, yes, burped, yes, try up right, try rocking, try on tummy, try mum, try dad, try walking up and down with him. Eventully find that what he wants is Firm patting on the back whilst lieing face down on dads knee... then he stops screming.
teletext/ ceefax subtitles are a god send, allows us to watch TV through the sceaming session we get treated to at some point most evenings.
The bed time routine seems to be working tho, despite all the yelling we had last evening, when we got into the bedtime routine he actully fell asleep quite qickly. Time to start bringing bedtime earlier I think.
Now hes fairly calm I'm going to put him down and hang the washing out on the line. Fingers crossed it stays dry.
uniSarah
Ps= Now its april, some of our babes must be a whole month old, how scay is that.

Cadmum · 04/04/2006 15:13

Charlotte is one month old today and so must Matthew and Neve be! Happy one month B-day!

Funny how so many of our other babies did not have furry ears... I had never seen such a thing before Charlie and her ears have quite a batch of dark hair on them as well!

Hope everyone is well today. We are off the the Museum of Natural History (again!). Will post this evening.

Catj: Hoping Seren is doing well and that you survived your night at home without her.

laundrylover · 04/04/2006 16:42

Kiah is firmly in the fuzzy ears club too! can't remember if Tilly's were or not though.
UniSarah, Tilly was a screamer every evening for the first few months and we resorted to trips to Tesco with Dad as it drove me insane. Won't last forever though...
Finger's crossed but so far Kiah is much more chilled out but am ready for anything to happen over the next few weeks. She is a fab feeder and has gained 2oz in her first 6 days!! I reckon that her extra 2lbs of birthweight on Tilly make her such a different baby - let's hope the good times last!!Grin

laundrylover · 04/04/2006 17:37

Have eventually got round to posting my birth story. It's a bit long and I can't figure how to link but do have a browse if you fancy!Smile

Frizbe · 04/04/2006 21:08

Thanks for the Happy one month wishes Caddy, same to your Charlotte and young Matthew as well Grin

I don't remember dd1 haveing furry ears at all? odd isn't it!

dd2 is happily kicking around on her play mat at the mo, admiring dd1's old octopull from Boots Smile although a few minutes ago we were all rather stunned by a power cut Shock but luckily it all came back on within 5 mins..phew...
Boiler got fixed today also, so hurrah lots of heating and hot water again!

Munz how's your little one?

OP posts:
Jackstini · 05/04/2006 10:52

Hi all - Scarlett is also in the furry ears club - feel much reasssured knowing so many other babies have this!
Cadmum - docs have not worked out why I can't contract no. Midwife came yesterday and said my uterus is still the size of one 1 day after birth, rather than 6 so still not contracting down. She also said it would most likely be an issue in subsequent pregnancies and said I needed to make sure docs know all about this one in detail early on.
Still have quite a swollen tummy due to this and look about 6 months pg still! although weight is going down. Scarlett has lost 5oz this week but mw says that is quite healthy, especially since she went nearly 20 hours with only 1 feed on Monday. Concrete football norks would not let her latch on - nipple shields finally to the rescue and she fed like a baby possessed for the next 24 hours Grin
Is anyone else having people ring at ridiculous hours? - mostly early morning. We have had to introduce the '10 o clock rule' to family and friends - no calls after 10pm or before 10 am!
Had an ok night last night - Scarlett went down at 9.30 - fed at 10.30, 12.30, 3.30 and woke at 7.50 so got a few hours catch up sleep.
Dh is slowly getting used to the fact the house is turning pink before his very eyes - must go out and buy some girly clothes in a different colour before he can't copy any more....
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their dbs

Munz · 05/04/2006 11:04

hiya guys,

got the parents down this week - having 5 mins alone whilst they're out and the little man's asleep. he's doing well, i've taken - dare I say it to giving him water with 4 drops of fresh orange in it (ducks for cover quickly) on the suggestion of the dr (well he said a tea spoon which to me looked far too much even in a 9oz bottle of water - of which he'll drink about half druing the day) it seems to be helping him thou and his poops now vary between v wet and 'normal' i'm not so worried - it didn't help my DB being here saying this isn't normal he's going red best to be safe his tummy's hard - I got more worked up think i'm a bad mummy - silly really cos DB hasn't got any kids yet! the dr also said I should offer Joey the boob both of them for an hour EACH if thats what he want! - EACH I tell u - the bloke can sod off i'm doing that! anyhow I realised yesterday after 25 mins my boobs get sore, and it would appear the milk runs out for a bit so i've taken to givening him the other side (seems to be working)

as for the mobility thing, Joey was the same - we worked out (or maybe by chance) he could turn sides by swinign his legs over. now he just thrashes about, and he can now pretty much hold his head up - it's depressing the boy's 6 weeks old tomorrow- where has the time gone already? and his coming home outfit - it's too small now (well short) and his NB clothes are starting to get to short :(

my dude's screaming now so must dash off again - we're feeding ever 3 hours by day night time's getting better - feeds at 8pm ish 1am ish then 6am ish so we're getting there v pleased really. he's a good baby. anyhow promise will come back later today.

congrats to the new mums,

catJ (((hugs))) on ur DD, hope she is feeling better soon, fingers crossed u get a lot more cuddles with her.
