munz · 09/08/2006 08:01

right girls quick Q for u all.

I've ben weaning Joey properly this past 10 days or so, so far he's having 2 little pot thingys (the 125 jars) around 12-1 ish a savoury and a pudding. (on advice of the h/v) it really settleds him down but now he's started doing the 2 hours again. (after we had a lovely few days) is it worth seeing if he'll have a little baby rice or something around 5?

also I've not been offering the boob at lunch time - should I offer the boob? i've ben offering water so far. (either way we'll be waiting till after the move)

ooh and tried 10 ice cubes - what a joke, boy only ate about 3/4 of it so approx 6/7. so i'll only give him that.

gothicmama · 09/08/2006 10:59

yes and you should feed after lunch if he is not having food at breakfast or tea I following this pattern

breakfast - milk
mid morning - milk
lunch - veg or fruit puree followed by fromage frais + milk
mid afternoon - milk
tea - milk then veg then finish milk
supper milk
this will change to
food at tea then milk
milk and food at breakfast

so you build to three meals with milk in morning and between feeds

chellebelle · 09/08/2006 11:00

Munz

Feed wise this is what I do with Emily:

7.30ish boob
10.00ish boob
12.30ish baby rice then boob
3.30ish boob
6.00ish meal (packet mix roast dinner or pork & apple)
change for bed
7.30ish boob
11.30ish boob

Emily did the same when we first started weaning she was just having one solid feed a day and it was settling her but after a week of just one solid feed she started waking lots again so I took that as the cue to then start givng her 2 solid feeds a day.

We've been having a mare with her waking a lot again recently but think it's more to do with teething than hunger.

chellebelle · 09/08/2006 11:04

cross posts gothic.

Wasn't sure if our routine was right, just knew it works for us. Am surprised yet v pleased to see we're almost exactly the same

gothicmama · 09/08/2006 11:10

it's reassuring someone else is doing the same chelle

Frizbe · 09/08/2006 11:25

Munz, I'm doing slightly different but its working for us!

5.30-6am Boob
8am breakfast/porridge or fruit (mash banana v quick!)
10.30am (used to be 11) Boob
13:00 Boob
16:00 Boob
17:30-18:00-18:30 (we all try and eat together, so when dh gets in) Tea, if its jars half a pot of savoury, then half fruit, if its home made the equivilent
19:00 Boob (usually to sleep, although she's staring to get out of this!!
23:00 Dream feed bottle

Although one day when we were on hols, she didn't want the 6am boob and as dh took her into the other room to play, she went until 8am so might get brave and try that again soon (ie might leave her in her cot as need to start persuading her to stay in there and play until she starts sleeping later, dd1 just took to doing that no probs, but dd2 is a bit louder with her chatting/not sure if she's about to mipe so I'm a big softie n go get her.....rod for my own back......)

Well its like ww3 in here today, ss (8) and dd1 (2.9) are bickering like troopers.. in the blue corner....arghhhhhhhh and dd2 has taken to rolling everywhere, so I'm also yelling, mind the baby, every 5 mins, Fishwifes have nothing on me today......

OP posts:
Frizbe · 09/08/2006 11:25

Oh good luck with the Move Munz!

OP posts:
Astrophe · 10/08/2006 13:01

lol re fishwife friz! I know what you mean.

Also struggling with routine at the mo...ds doiing odd things. wakes at 1 and/or 3 for a feed, then sometimes wakes at 5-6am, but is not hungry and will NOT be convinced to feed, somtimes until 11am! then is v. unsettleed all arvo.

think we need to :
-put to bed earlier (currently 8pm) when do all yours go?
-feed lunch instead of dinner, as he is too tired to eat in the evenings
-give a dream feed at 11pm, then no feeding until 7am...I know he can do this.

but its going to be soooo hard as am not normally a tough mummy and tbh couldn't be bothered, but the lack of any routine is killing me. also still working on toilet training dd...think we need to bite the bullet and say no more nappies ever, but hard work!

so please advise/encourage me to get my bum into gear! folks are leaving in 10 days so need tp be psyched up for then. perhaps should also start diet at same time? (yesterday i ...now brace yourself girls...i did some exersize!!! went for a walk, as fast as i could. felt good, but still got a flabby tum )

Quootiepie · 10/08/2006 13:16

Now that Ive found this thread again, just popped in to say had DS weighed yesterday and hes 15lbs! he was born on the 9th centile, now is 25th

Frizbe · 10/08/2006 16:08

Yeah for ds quootiepie!

Astro, lol at you, as if one walk is gonna sort a flabby tummy (cheat and get one of those tummy slendertone things, worked for me last time ) and seeing as you want a few more kids it'd be a good investment right

I've been scuppered in my nighttime exercise, as my dojo have changed our classes to an 8pm start from 8.30, good job I rang them today to check times eh! can't make it for 8 whilst dd is BF'ing, as she knocks off between 7.30-8pm and then I have to drive into Nottm......pants so can't go until end of hols really, as can only make daytime classes.....
Guess that answered your question Astro, she technically goes at 7pm, but feeds until 7.30-7.45-upto 8.15 for the last two days on the grow......
Good luck with the potty training too, dd1 was better with just pants, but still took a while to get the poos.....all sorted now tho

OP posts:
UniSarah · 10/08/2006 18:23

boys bedtime is somewhen between 7.30 and 8. Thats in bed probadly asleep. Tonight hes having an early bed time so I can go to a mums pampering night. bath after the simpsons and i expect him to be asleep by 7.30..... he may well prove me wrong, esp as I want to go out.
he's still having a late feed, and a middle of night one. MAYBE when hes on solids he'll gte the hang of sleeping thro. i'm happy to keep doing teh middle of night feed as he IS hungrey. wakes up, feeds well, goes straight back to sleep. In teh morning when he wakes up hes not hungrey, just awake, then he won;t settle down and feed.
Those 1st 2 teeth are Very sharp. Not nice when he decides to nip at the end of a feed.

romilly · 10/08/2006 19:25

my dd is tucked up by 7pm every night (bath at 5.45, feed at 6.15 onwards, with a quick story halfway thru - she now loves this! how cute)

havent started weaning yet, any day now though.....

romilly · 10/08/2006 19:25

forgot to say, we are also still having 5am feed. dont mind really, so used to it now.

Frizbe · 10/08/2006 21:32

Rom, fab re the story, I've just started doing a few with dd2 and she seems to love them too (I have hungry caterpillar memorised!)

Uni, I hope you've made your mums pampering night

dd2 appears to be able to go forwards now, so long as there is something to grab onto, ie bed covers, mats on floor, long haird carpets.....argh! she's only 5 blooming months, I reckon she'll have the crawl sussed by 6 dd1 took ages, in fact hated crawling, so just went for cruising at 12mths walking at about 14mths.....it was great having a happy imobile baby, but this one just wants to get going.....my baby is eager to catch the others up.

OP posts:
gothicmama · 10/08/2006 21:40

friz you will be on your toes then ds is still beig frustrated by his inability to move other than a roll so I imagine once he gets going there will be no stopping him - much like his shouting/ taliking him and dd are loud already when playing (as much as tehy can do)

Astrophe · 11/08/2006 10:49

well...ds slept from 8.3opm until 6am with just some settling at about 9.30pm! Yay! Nothing we did though, so it prob wont happen again!

AND...he can sit up now! Its a pretty wobbly old sit, but he gets a good 20 seconds or so in before he face-plants!

Gotta go bake cakes wwith dd, while the lad sleeps. We are having a Thanksgiving service for him at Church on \sunday then a little party, so am making the 'traditional' fondant overed cake for that.

have good days girls

Frizbe · 11/08/2006 16:07

MMMMmmmmmm Cake
sounds lovely Astro! congrats on the sleep
we tried some sitting on our own here yesterday too, dd2 also face plants after about the same length of time!

Gothic tell me about it, squeek, squeek, squeek, its like having R2D2 in the living room!
