Astrophe · 18/07/2006 17:43

I made it home fine Friz...although my read light was blinking at me all the way home, I made it to the petrol station at Morissons! Thanks for showing me the way...how on earth did you ever find that route? It was very twisty and turny!

Glad to hear Tilly has recovered from Luie's sand throwing...I was relieved to discover a truck-load of sand in Lu's hair during bath time...perhaps Tilly got her own back (or is she being framed by my rascal? }.

It was great to meet you both and your 3 beautiful girls.

Was planning on doing some baking this arvo but have just faffed around, read a book (t'was wonderful) and fed ds endlessly...thirsty boy! So now the dishes are everywhere, toys covering floor, no dinner, washing not hung out, unpopped popcorn all over the kitchen (don't ask), tesco delivery not puta away,...and people coming round at 8. Oh, how I wish I was organised.

I just don't know where to start...

laundrylover · 19/07/2006 22:17

Astro, hope you got the house sorted for the visitors and they weren't skidding around on the corn!
I'm wouldn't be at all surprised if Tilly did get a spadeful of sand in before realising she should be upset!!
Improvement at bedtime tonight - only 10 mins whinging before falling asleep against the gate. Who knows maybe she'll try the bed tomorrow.
Kiah had 16 weeks jabs and was awful afterwards but went down at bedtime with a bit of Calpol.

Astrophe · 20/07/2006 01:02

LOOK AT THE TIME!!! Eli settled really well (for him) after 1/3 banana and 2 teaspoons of rice cereal! His first ever meal. I gave in, and now feel terribly guilty that he has been hungry for weeks. But then he woke at midnight. What is going on???

So tired

Frizbe · 20/07/2006 09:25

{{{Hugs}}} Astro, sorry Eli woke up, hope he's decided to sleep a bit more for you this am instead? oopse re the petrol, you just missed a garage up the hill at Ripley as well...you made it home ok tho, so that's good

Neve slept thru for the 1st time in ages last night (not that Astro wants to know about that right now!) I woke her at 6am, wooo hoooooo, I'd have left her longer, but dd1 was making that much noise, I decided to get her up too.

LL, good news re Tilly lets hope she make that bed tonight

Uni, Gothic, Rom, Munz and anyone else still out there, how are you all?

OP posts:
laundrylover · 20/07/2006 10:15

I agree Friz, what has happened to all the other Mad March Mums? Hello....anyone out there???

Tilly up from 3-5am . Wide awake and singing songs - was not impressed. Then Kiah fed at about 5 and then 6.30 but it was all a blur. We had to employ THE GATE in the end. Luckily DP was fab and got Tilly up and ready for her lift to nursery at 7.45am and i remained spark out 'til 9 when he came in carrying Kiah and apologising 'cos she had woken up.

laundrylover · 20/07/2006 10:18

Astro, to be fair Eli does look as tho he could pick up a banana and eat it himself eh?? Reckon this heat is playing havoc with night feeds.
We had a thunderstorm last night (remembered to close the skylights at the first drops!) which will hopefully have put out the moorland fires which have engulfed us in smoke.
Washing machine fixed at last so am happy girly. Think I may take advantage of the lack of sun and go on a long walk....

munz · 20/07/2006 10:25

hey guys i'm here l;ooking in now/again, we're doing OK./ DH is away for 3 weeks, Joey's decided he's not gonna nap, not gonna go to bed and sleep and wake up every 2 hours/1.5 hours again, so i'm well and truely knackered, coupled with the house being a tip cos we're moving in 3 weeks it's a bit mayhem ok but mayhem! lol.

tried him wiht a bit of food, (peach and strawberry breakfast thingy, porrige and abby rice) so far the rice is a def no go - screams after each feed for about 2 days so that's stopped the porrige i've worked out has far too mcuh cuger as he was a bit typer, and really chattery/moving etc. the peachy thing he didn't mind that but tbh I think it's a case he can take it or leave it at the minute. I trhink it's the weather waking him up not the fact he's hungry cos i've been giving him a bit of water and he's bearly having 1oz of it and will then settle again so i'm sure it's a thirst quencher. not too bad last night, up for a feed at 11 and 1 then 5, he woke up screamning eyes shut at 6 so was turned over (expecting only 45 mins but he went till 8.30 - oops so guess that means today's gonna be another bad day lol. and to think we started monday so well! lol.

anyhow hope everyone's doing well and babies are OK. can u believe it Joey's 5 months today

chellebelle · 20/07/2006 13:45

We're still here too. Emily has been having fun at night times as well Astro - not that I find it much fun. Couldn't believe it last night though when DH actually went to her first and without being asked - his mum came round on Sunday and told him he wasn't doing enough to help me out, bless him, he's been trying really hard ever since.

We've just started on the old baby rice - health visitor agreed that Emily waking up was probably cause she was hungry and ready for solids. After night 1 she woke again, night 2 she went through, night 3 she woke again will see what night 4 brings tonight.

Sounds like you all had a good meet up. I was really tempted to come as am only in Coventry and was seriously considering it on Sunday evening however Emily had her worst night ever on sunday, so bad that my hubby went into work late and did the school run for me so that I could stay in bed. I did still have to advise re school uniform and reading book etc but hey ho you can't expect it all in one go can you

Anyway, during all this gorgeous hot weather I haven't exactly felt like doing any housework so now it's cooled down I really ought to get on with some.

Enjoy the sun those of you who haven't been lazy slackers like me

UniSarah · 20/07/2006 18:31

In this heat our best feeds are the night ones, its that bit cooler. Had a bad start to teh night with boy yesterday- he was just too hot.
I won;t be about for a while, off to teh unicycle world championships , hurrah, its here at last. I've been rounding stuf up today, defrostingteh fridge etc, just started packing into bags... eek. dh is late home as hes tryingto get finished at work, I need to go and colect a bumbo after boys in bed... might not managae anothe rpost, later, muight do.
oh, and boys just done 2 rols, front to back!

romilly · 20/07/2006 19:54

hi girls - i've been away at my parents and sisters so excuse lack of postings.

hope you and all your babes are well. munz - cant believe joey is now 5 months! awwwww!

friz - how are you hon?

uni - i am SO envious that your little one can roll from front to back. my little one is rolling the other way (constantly) and getting stuck, grinding her face into the mattress at night and scaring the caca out of me frankly. i absolutely hate finding her struggling on her face in the middle of the night, usually with one leg sticking out of the cot bar too, just to add to her discomfort. anyone else having this problem? i have been posting on MN generally to ask advice but not much joy. i do find it worrying as she is only 4 months and i am worried i wont hear her if i am knackered and sleeping deeply.

Frizbe · 20/07/2006 20:52

Fine thanks Rom and a bit as apparently I slept thru dd1 waking up in the middle of the night, poor old dh had to get up to her! lol so dd2 and I slept like babies

Munz, sorry to hear your having a wakeful time at the mo, I'll bet he can sense your move is on the way, and will start to settle lots better once your all sorted out in a few weeks, are you doing ok with dh being away, do you have any local help?? we don't want you going mad now....

Hi Chellebelle, coor your kinda local too! sorry to hear you had a bad night too, but wooo hooo at your dh for sorting out the little ones am

Astro, how was the dinner thing?

LL, well done for closing the windows shame about the dreaded GATE, but sure she'll be soo tired tonight she'll be ok right [cheshire cat grin]

OP posts:
Frizbe · 20/07/2006 20:52

Oh and bugger Uni, enjoy your championships, go girl, go girl!

OP posts:
Astrophe · 20/07/2006 22:44

A quick hello, DH needs the computer. Friz, dinner was ok, Have sorted out our chaos a bit...I just let it all build up until it gets on top of me then i get really overwhelmed and a bit depressed, then DH bails me out and I'm ok again.

Last night DS woke a lot but tonight I am hopeful...he ate 3/4 of a banana mashed with rice cereal...it was more than DD would normally eat! He settled well, so fngers crossed!

Rom, DS also rolls onto his tum and sometimes gets stuck. He always cries when we put him to bed until he rolls onto his tummy, then he falls asleep, so we have to roll him once hes properly asleep. He doesn't roll in his sleep though, only when hes awake. Does you DD roll whilst asleep?

A Nurse I once spoke to said that when babies roll you should worry less, not more, as it means they are more able to get themselves out of trouble by moving/lifting their heads etc...(but I know it is worrying anyway...I'm always anxious too). She'll probably learn to roll the other way very soon. One way you could encourage her is to put her on her tummy on your bed, then sit next to her so the bed slopes a bit and she can practice rolling 'downhill' IYSWIM. Also, its easier for them to roll on a soft surface like that. Or maybe when you find her struggling on her tum you could turn her hear to the side for her to encourage her to do that (rather than face-plant) Hope that helps Rom.

Happy 5 month b'day Joey!

LL, glad you can start loving your laundry again!

Munz and Chellebelle...fingers crossed for your LOs sleep tonight as well

Uni, hope you have a blast and your little man behaves himself!

munz · 21/07/2006 08:42

nightmare night last night up every 2 hours again so far this week we've only had one night where he's slept for a solid 4 hours - or at least he has he wakes up cos he comes out of his blanket, creates so I go in put him back in and so it goes on last night he went to bed at 8.15pm, woke at 10.15 for a feed as I fed him at 7pm, then midnight out of the blanket wide awake - back in it and went back to sleep till 3am, then fed then awake at 5am, 5.20am, 5.40am (fed) back to sleep till 7am. what can I do??? surely a 5 month old baby should be able to go for longer than 2 hours without a feed? I was sure it was just the heat but last night was nowhere near as hot as before. We've tried dream feeds which made him worse so stopped those, his naps during the day are getting back on track again, mondya was a v good day for napping and actually a good night for him this week. should I start weaning properly? the few times I have tried him he likes to do things himself and we end up with food all over his mouth/hands/legs - rather amusing to watch thou, has to be mr independant! lol. tried the porrige this morning again - thru lack of anything else, he took a mouthful and has decided that's not for him anymore lol. so, next question can I use frozen vbeggies, as I'd rather start him off on veggies, and till I get to the shop tomorrow it's all I have in. also if I make a load up in the ice cube tray - gonna sound daft but is it ok just to put iot on the hob to reheat it again, as we don't have a microwave (I keep blowing them up)

chelle - i'm hoping for our weaning to be like yours, how did you go last night?

uni - good luck hon with your championship.

rom - have u tried a sleeping bag? u can get the 0.5 tog ones for the summer I believe those help, we put joey inbetween two rolled up towels to keep him in place, the one night I didn't do it was the one night he ended up face against the bars so went back wiht it. failing thaht i'm looking at getting one of these next week babyrug they look fab, bit expensive so DH has said I can only have 1, but what he don't know! lol.

friz - nope no local help, we were going to a group but it's far to far away and still not got hte car sorted out, I've seen my mates quite a bit thou, mum & dad are up tonight then back next friday for a week to help me pack, sort the house and look after the little man, i'm just pissed off with this bloody unit tbh, damn army, I asked if they'd put DH's course back till after we've moved - would be much better all around and was told nope can't afford to do that. in the 5 weeks prior to him going away he's only had 2 days off, the rest of the time he's not been in till 8 so i've not been v happy at all, still I hear the house we're moving to is really nice and a semi (not that i'm a snob u understand but the older houses are ment to be a bit bad, besides we're in a detached now so it will be a shock what ever we go to! lol) loads of groups down there as well so can't wait. i'm sure it's the move that's not helping as since i've packed no essential stuff from his room incl his teddy's (most of em) he's been more wakeful.

ast - I take it thats the hosue work is it? lol - ahy my DH does as well, he recons as long as the kitchen/front room are tidy he can cope with the rest! lol.

the rolling thingy - Joey's been able to do the fropnt to back for a while, on monday he actually managed to roll from his front to his back then onto his front again - I don't know who was more shocked me or him! lol. still he's not done it since. only thing I can suggest on that front rom is to slightly unbalance her arms when you put her down - that's how jeoy learnt anyhow when he was slightly off center than after a few goes he learnt on his own how to do it. we're trying for the sitting up in his ring as well - he can do it for a bit then flops forward then pushes himself back - it's comical to watch. at the mo those he's on the cause/effect of things when he plays with his musical toys, again watching his face study things is comical! lol.

anyhow best have a shower and try to get tidy for mum coming down tonight. hope everyone managed to get some sleep last night! lol.

chellebelle · 21/07/2006 12:07

Nope another bad night - boo hiss . She seems to be doing the same as your little one Munz - waking every 2 hours or so. Really don't know what it is - will try upping her solid feeds from just lunch to lunch and dinner and take it from there.

Rom - we've been using a sleeping bag with Emily but as they all seem too hot have been putting her in a pillow case, at some point I'll get around to making it into a sleeping bag - should be easy enough really, in fact think I might actually do it this weekend. Am going to have to use buttons rather than poppers though cause haven't got a clue how to put poppers on, I'm not the most domesticated of housewives

romilly · 21/07/2006 21:04

thanks for your suggestions girls - i am still hugely stressed out about it

pillow case sounds a bit scary chellebelle

laundrylover · 21/07/2006 23:15

Kiah still likes sleeping in her sleeping bag Rom so we put her in with just a nappy on and have a fan in the room. She doesn't get too hot but def sleeps better.
Uni, have a great time and tell us allabout it when you get back.
Feeling like I have a dud baby who can't roll over but she is only just a March baby!! Better get coaching her next week....
We've been to my best friend's wedding today and the girls looked gorgeous and were very well behaved tho Kiah was attached to boob for the important bit. They are having a party at their house tomorrow so another day out in the sun.
Girls slept well last night considering the heat but got woken up at 6.30am by a mad shouty man and then someone unloading scaffolding!!! I went out to find the culprits and show them my eye bags but couldn't get through the gate onto the industrial estate! Prob a good job as they would have thought I was a mad old bag!

munz · 22/07/2006 08:28

nuvver bad night gonna try a bottle of formula for tongiht to see if it helps at all.

Astrophe · 22/07/2006 16:08

So sorry your night was the pits Munz, wish there was something I could do to help. Where do you live again? Had a squiz at that babyrug thing you linked to...was it the one with the hood? Not to scare you, but have read that covering baby's whilst sleeping head is a sids risk - just thought I should say. Have you tried swadling with a large muslin? You can get brilliant ones here , we have some and they are the only thing my two wern't able to escape from as they are so big and stretchy! I really hope you find something that helps.

Romilly, Eli is very determined to sleep on his tum now...we were able to turn him for a while, but now if we do he wakes up and cries, rolls over, goes to sleep So there is just nothing we can do about it. We have him on a firm mattress with cotton sheets, no bumpers/toys etc, no smoking (hes too young anyway )...we might get one of those Babe Safe mattress covers from NZ...supposed to stop chemicals linked to SIDs seeping out of mattress. Babesafe It is stressful isn't it? We just pray, every night, that he will be ok.

Have a good night girls, hope its cooling down for you all, we are having a lovely thunder storm here.

Astrophe · 22/07/2006 16:10

Oh Rom, can you swaddle your DD? DS wont tolerate it any more, but I don't think he would be able to roll if he was swaddled.

munz · 22/07/2006 17:05

astrophe - we've tried all types of blankets/thin cotton sheets (I think they're recieving blankets the one's ive ben given v thin summer ones (the honeycombe effect.) they're fab and thin, but he wriggles out of them by bringing one arm up then escapes! lol. sleeping bags we're a no go as they didn't hold the arms down for him. that site looks fab thou, I htink I might have to order a few bits instead of that bug thing, I was particually intrested in the feet/thinness of them. did u get charged VAT/Import duty etc? i'm in pembrokeshire btw.

would the 2 towels thing help you ast all with your LO? - althou saying that we do it and joey rolls - thankfully onto his back and not front.

Astrophe · 22/07/2006 17:30

Sorry Munz, we got ours in Australia, so don't know what the charges would be. They are fab tho, LL and Friz saw one on our meet up I think and can vouch for them!

I think as long as Eli sleeps ok we will just let hime be (but we WILL buy a bab safe cover, have decided today!). And he IS sleeping better since weaning, thank goodness. He was feeding for up to 2 hours in the evenings, then waking 2 times a night too, but now seems to be settling after 1/2 to 1 hour feed and only waking once a night...Its only been 3 nights though, so I shouldn't count my chickens huh?

Good luck tonight.

Does anyone know how much to feed and pre-6 month weaner? DS seems to be a bottomless pit, do I just keep shovelling it in? My DD wasn't weaned until 6 mos and thn refused most food, so this is a new experience for me!

munz · 22/07/2006 19:56

fraid I can't help you out wiht that astrophe. fingers crossed your good nights continue. thanks' for the web site as well, i've ordered some of their muslins and also some other wraps, if it doesn't work for swaddaling least we'll have more thiner blankets as we've not got many!

boy's gone down for 7.30pm tonight - trying a differnt approach today he's fed every 3 hourts instead of every 2/2,5 and there's no cluster feeds, so we shall see - am thinking that perhaps (if it's not this reflux which i'm not sure on) that perhaps i'm feeding him to soon after the previosu feed which is causeing a heart burn cos he takes a full feed again, and then has another thinking the pain will go away iycwim - which woiuld explain why it happens later in the day, touch wood thou no crying after feeds today so fingers crossed!

Frizbe · 22/07/2006 22:04

munz, sorry to hear you've been having lots of lack of sleep, sounds like a good tack for tonight tho.
Re the food thing for you and Astro and anyone else who wants to know here's what I've been feeding dd2, the little guzzle guts...

some mornings 3.30-3.45 boob, depending on how she's feeling
5.30ish Boob - Daily fixture
8am Boob -Daily Fixture
8.30-9am, Boots organic orange n summat porridge about a tablespoon full, mixed with formula
this has meant most days she's dropped the 11am boob.
13:00 Boob
16:15 Deal or no Deal boob (what am I going to do its not on anymore!)
17:30 Tea with us, = started on just fruit, have just this weekend, started doing bit of meal, then fruit pud taking about 1/4 of a jar of each (cause I'm being lazy at the mo! but if I am doing fruit has scoffed a full nana, and a full pear, didn't take to my carrot idea tho )
19:00 Bedtime boob
23:00 5-6oz of formula which dh can give

Hth's

LL, you should have gone for it

Oh Munz was it you saying about rolling, went into find dd2 on her front last night, so I just popped her back onto her back again, but found her on her front again this am, ho hum eh! too hot to try her sleeping bag, so have just been leaving her to sleep in her bodysuit, and chucking a thin sheet over her legs, once she settles....inevatably its not there when I go back into feed her tho!

Astro, I was over with friends in Nottm, when that storm went over, what a whopper, we were at a garden centre, q another cup of tea and dd1 on my lap being scared, dd2 slept thru it!

OP posts:
munz · 23/07/2006 09:51

friz - it was rom after info on rolling. joey only goes from his side ot his back - thankfully, tried his front once and he screamed blue murder till I turned him over, which isn't a bad thing at all.

thanks for the info on weaning, I think once weds comes (and I get to the shop for some veggies) I'll start properly, I know it's early for him but something's gotta give at the mo.

yet another bad night (story of my life at the minute) went down at 7.30, woke at 8.20 (had a quite cuddles and straight off again. cried out at 9.20 and I left him fed at 10.30 boob (previous feed was 7pm), woke at 12, 2 (5 oz bottle formula) 3 4 5 5.30 in with me 6, 7.30 will he ever go back to normal? he seems to wake up being fully alert and wanting to play - I blame DH, on those 4 days he fed him at night he was letting him stay awake till he went back to sleep which was normally wake at 2 sleep at 4 i've just found out. toko the formula fine but I wonder if the SMA is causing the every hour thing?
