Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
vickiyumyum · 09/06/2006 13:56

gosh, where has the time gone, i cannot beleive lucy is 12 weeks today! all your little ones seem to be doing so well. Lucy is now sleeping through i am pleased to say, she has been doing it for about a week now and sleeps from 10pm - 8am. fantastic! i suddenly feel human again, the only thing is it is then a bit of a rush to get ready in the morning, and get ds1 to school. ds2 has taken ds1 to nursery still in his pj's a couple of times this week, luckily we have to go by car as it is miles away, but from next week ds1 starts a new school which is near where we have moved to, so we will be walking, will have to be more organised.
have realised that my pnd had come back, although no way near as abd as last time, it manifests itself in teh form of desperate shopaholicism and i'm not joking. 2 weeks ago i worked out i spent £2100 in a week! luckily i have realised what is happening and have sought help and started my counselling sessions, so feeling much better this week. it sounds like a joke but i woul dhave sleepless nights thinking about the dress i had seen or something i had bid on ebay for and would have to come down in the middle of the night and check it! i'm not sure why it happens as on paper i certainly ahve nothing to be depressed about, i have a lovely husband, 3 lovely children, a nice house, nice car, good incomes, good job to go back to etc etc i definatley feel pnd must be hormonal and not psychological.i have been very good this week and only been to the shop for the food shopping, and i also went out for my secnond slimming world meeting, i have lost 7lb in 2 weeks lets hope i can keep it up. i think that is why i feel better too, because i'm beginning to feel like i have some control over my life.
hope no one else is experienceing pnd, but if you are i truly find it helps to talk about it, especially somewhere like mn where you can just type it all out and post, let it all out its a bit like silent screaming !LOL!

Astrophe · 09/06/2006 15:36

VYY, how awful for you that you have PND, but great that you are talking about it and getting on top of it - good for you. I hope you recover quickly.

Don't think I have PND (but in hind sight wonder if I did after DD was born) but can relate to some of the things you said - crazy hormones definately make me weird and anxious about things. Since DS was born I've been really anxious about the kids clothes - making sure they are all in piles of the correct sizes, making sure they don't grow out of things before they've had a chance to wear them, buying more clotes them fretting that they are wrong/that we don't need them. Its become a bit of an obsession but I feel like if I can be in control of the clothes then i feel more in control of life. I hope it will pass! So does DH but not the bank manager or Vertbaudet I'm sure!

LL, sorry about your rubish day, hope you are ok now.

My little lad is also 'sleeping through' now - usually 9-5 but sometimes longer if I'm lucky :)
what little champions they are.

vickiyumyum · 09/06/2006 18:51

astrophe - thanks for that, i do feel much better just admitting it somewhere! i have been like that with the clothes though, thats how i spent so much money last week, i was obsessed with cleaning out the kids clothes and had a mass clearout took everything to the charity shop, then realised they had nothing to wear! same for me i had thrown everything out so event hough most of it was too big now, i had 2 skirts and 3 t-shirts left, the rest was winter jumpers etc. i can laugh now but last week i was in floods of tears as i realised what i had done.

ll - don't you just hate days like that, it always seems to be one thing after another, i hope today has been better for you.

UniSarah · 09/06/2006 20:53

Back home from Hols, unifamily had a fab week in sunny Dorset, didn't move more than 15 miles from the cottage we rented. Bliss, I like micro tourism. We took the pram places it wasn't designed for over woodland single track and cliff top paths. Got close up to deer, woodpeckers, gulls and chicks and wrens.Boy had his first paddle in the sea and shoved his sandy hands in his mouth when I wasn't looking.he nearly caused the 2nd evacation of Tyneham when he let lose a huge stinky pooh in the middle of Tyneham church exhibition about the evacuated village. AND hes been sleeping between 4 and 5 hours after his 11pm feed, then going back after a feed to sleep till about 8am. SO much nicer than waking me at 6am every day.
Sorry to hear about your PND Viki, glad you recognised it and are getting help. I was worried about it as I've been depressed in the past.
Sitting up curious babies seems to be the next stage for our little lot doesn't it. I'm on the look out for a bumbo too.

laundrylover · 09/06/2006 21:46

Vicky glad you are up to sharing your PND - I am on the lookout too after last time and recognise the obsessing. Am driving DP mad I'm sure but am trying to chill out about the cleaning etc. Don't get me wrong I don't do any just worry about it!!Grin
Had a good day today at big park with friend and girls and then lunch at Cafe Uno.
Tomorrow DP has the girls all day (off to nephew's England/birthday party) whilst I go out with girlfriends. I am sooooo looking forward to it but hope my boobs don't explode!! At last I can use some of my frozen milk!
Sarah your hol sounded lovely. We are off to Brighton for a 40th next Friday and just booked into a nice pub for the Sat night on the way home. Sorry if I sound like a meany mummy but I am very excited about a weekend without Tilly and tantrums - no doubt I'll miss her like crazy though.

Frizbe · 10/06/2006 22:59

Hey all, LL hope you've had a fab night out?
Uni glad you've had a great hols
VYY, sorry to hear about the PND, but great that you've recognised it and are getting it sorted Smile
Astropohe and Chellebelle, its great with them sleeping thru isn't it! I'm sure once I move dd2 out into her own room (although not for a couple of mths yet) she'll sleep even longer in the mornings, as she only stirs now because she hears dh!
Fab weather again, been farm parking it today, then back to the GP's house, where both dd1 and dd2 got some prezzies from a neighbour who hasn't seen dd2 up until now! so more clothes for both girls Smile always a nice surprise!

coppertop · 11/06/2006 13:40

I can't believe how quickly the time is flying by. Dd will be 12 weeks tomorrow. I haven't taken her to the baby clinic at all (oops!) so she hasn't been weighed since her 6-week check. I've also just realised that I never got around to making an appointment for my postnatal check-up. Blush I'd be too embarrassed to go now and admit that I forgot so will probably leave it. I haven't had any problems (touchwood!) so would only be going for the sake of saying that I'd been IYSWIM. Blush

Dd is doing well and is busy drooling everywhere. Her clothes get soaked through at the top so I suspect it's early teething. She's happy as long as she's fed, dry, and can see what's going on around her. Nosy so-and-so. :o

Sorry to hear that your PND has returned VYY but I'm glad that you were able to recognise it so quickly.

I'm also very Envy of the Uni-family's holiday. It sounds so perfect - apart from the poo-bomb of course. :o

UniSarah · 12/06/2006 13:49

back into the swinmg of the regular routine today- had boy weighed and as hes now 6.2kg i really should take the new born insert out of the car seat ( for up to 5.5kg!)
Hes lernt to burp himself now, which is nice, gets him lots of praise for big loud belches.
jabs on wed:-( nothing plannd for thursday just in case).

Cadmum · 12/06/2006 17:40

I don't have time to properly post after catching up but I wanted to tell Coppertop that I haven't been for my 6 week check either and dd2 is 3 months old! Blush

I don't think I will bother either. I have avoided it because if I never see the Ob who delivered DD it will be too soon.

laundrylover · 12/06/2006 21:18

I never had a check last time but this time am having one at 12 weeks cos I am due a smear - hurrah!! Anyway it seems that this is not too late so you could still go if you want to Coppertop.
Oi Sarah what's with the kilos??? Can not compute, can not computeGrin
Kiah now sleeping 8-8 with only one very quick feed at 4 or 6am!!! This means that I can express 4oz at breakfast as for the first time ever I am running milk! Now I can have more days out with the girls as Sat was fab.
Now if only Tilly would sort her sleeping out I could stop being such a moody cow....Smile

UniSarah · 12/06/2006 21:31

sorry LL- I think better in kg for that sort of weight, too many years of loading vans with kit marked in kg. 6.2kg is 13lb 11oz (IIRC) basicly the boy is bang on the 50th centile line as he has been since birth. boy now weighs more than my favourite unicycle (slightly).
Little tyke is knackered, he went to sleep directly after bedtime feed tonight, no fussing at all. He had apparently been a grumbly boots from 6.30 till I can in at 7.15 from running, but I wasn;t there so it wasn't my problem. DH only HAS to deal with the boy on his own for an hour and a half once a week while I go to track session. That my me time and I'm deterimned to keep it. DHs me time is playing cricket, that takes hours and hours every sunday and most tuesdays.
Ed experienced his 1st thunder stornm last night, he wasn't too keen on the thunder, but went to sleep again eventuly.

Munz · 13/06/2006 08:25

hiya gals,

hope everyoen's enjoyig the sunny weather. just got back form p'mouth, had a fab time once Joey actually settled down, by which time it was time to come home again :(

vicki - sorry we didn't manage to meet up hon, that money was filled wioth everyone and his dog coming over to see the new baby of the family, and poor Joey being poked proded and woken up every time he tried to have a minute's peace! - still have now learnt nap's are to be done up stairs - poor lamb was screaming by the weds as he was so unsettled. anyhow we're moving to Blandofrd in august which I beleive is about an hour from u so perhaps we could meet in the middle? sorry to hear about your PND hon. any time u wanna chat u have my email. (might take a while for me to respond thou! lol)

friz - yep my little guy's teething, he's 16 weeks tomorrow Shock there is 2 white marks where the teeth are due to come thru, so far we're using dentinox. apparently bonjela is v bad - mum did tell me why, can't remebr thou big review on it or something. anyhow, trying to offer more water to Joey but he has a few sucks then spits it oput as iof I'm trying to kill him or something! - tried during a feed and after.

astophe - Joeys' also foubnd his thumb, my only advice - I sucked mine till I was 11, my nan sucked hers till the day she got married at 19, so in someway's a dummy's better as u can take it away - althou then u could potenitally have the thumb issue later if thewy find it after the dummy. Joey has his dummy for bed time only.

i'm v v envious of all u lot who's baby's are sleeping thru. Joey seems to be going backwards, from about 8 weeks he's been only waking onec during the night, but for the past 3 weeks or so he's been waking 2/3 times, not wanting feeding (normally just his dummy back in) but oh how I wish he'd sleep thru. we were going to try him in his big boys bed in his own room on monday - but I chickened out a bit, besides I think if we're gonna have a rough time of it I'd sooner DH be able to look after him during the day. so we're going to try it on thursday. feels sad really - bit like my baby's growing up too much! still I think DH will be happy to have our room back! lol. we're getting noises in the sex dept - any advice girls? Blush althou when I went for my smear she said I had a v bad case of thrush so couldn't do the smear - I think it's the smae infection i've had since having Joey - which I apparently had swopbs/anitibotics for thru the IV drip, althou I never got the results of the swobs and the dr's didn't either.

anyhow first swimming sesh today 2-3 so looking forwartd to that as Joey's a little water baby. also startingt eh charlie brooks DVD - getting knackered just watching it! lol. and going back on weigh watchers so hopefully by the time we move in aug i'll be a slim jim again! :o

Astrophe · 13/06/2006 15:41

unisarah - beatie is looking for you in the camping section.

UniSarah · 13/06/2006 21:47

Thanks for the heads up- sounds like beaties dh and mine have simliary ambitious holiday plans! cycle touring camping with babies, not sure its sensible idea.
Boy didn't half put a fight about going to sleep tonight, must have been a good hour or more after bedtime before he finally settled. hard work and I'm on my own tonight while dh plays yet more cricket :-(
2nd set of jabs tomorrow. any one else? has reaction to 2nd jabs been the same as reaction to 1st set from those that have had 2 so far? I'v not got much planned for the next 2 days any way.

laundrylover · 13/06/2006 21:49

Munz am slightly confused about the term 'getting noises in the sex dept'!!! Do you mean you haven't had sex yet or you've developed a squeak!?Grin
If the former just go for it - I did after three weeks both times but then it all stops 'cos I'm so knackered! If the latter then I have no advice apart from perhaps WD40! You do need to zap that thrush though first and watch for it getting in your boobs too.
Kiah has been in her own room for a few weeks now but Tilly was in with us for 6 months - these poor second babies do get a rough deal eh?

Munz · 14/06/2006 07:53

lmao@ LL! lol. erm yep lets see, it's now june and we've only had sex once so far this year! - i'm just sooo tired all the time, I think DH needs to keep to his end of the deal! - lol ie his doing feeds on a thurs/fri and sat night as I'm just to tired all the time. I used a pessary thingy for the thrush, when the nurse tried to do the smear thou it was horrible really uncomfortable, so i'm a bit afraid about sex hurting as much Blush

uni - erm Joey's reactions to the 2 jabs we're completely opposite, the first set he slept from 11am to 6pm then form 8pm to 11pm then to 4pm and was fine the next day, no other probs, the second set, he slept for about an hour then wanted cuddles all the time. We've got our third and final set on tuesday so hopeing he has a day or complete sleeping! lol.

bad night last night with the boy, wouldn't go to sleep - althou we're changing his bed time routein a bit - no more bathing at bed time as it seems to get him hysterical, instaed DH is going to reaad a story and i'll bath in the mornings. butr I want to get bed time back to 8.30pm. he was still up thou at 1am and 4am wanting a feed then didn't settle after 4.15 - he seems to think it's funny to get mummy out of bed at that time! - these bloody teeth, it's worse now then when he was a NB. (not helped by my nan saying well he really should be sleping thru now u know! Angry) anyhow he's having a nap, so i'm off back to bed as well. hopefuly things will change once he's in his own room - has anyone else put their baby's in their own rooms yet? how did u get on if u have?

UniSarah · 14/06/2006 17:40

Boy screamed blue murder after his jabs this afternoon. Very loud and inconsolable for about 10 min. thankfully he fell asleep in the car and stayed that way for about 30 mins. Since when hes been no worse than normall.
However hes now refusing to nap, and howling again- gotta go

Frizbe · 14/06/2006 20:46

Coppertop, we have a drooler here too, and she's got a horrible rash to show for it, treating with gallons of aqueaous (SP) cream at the mo, she did 3 bibs in an hour the other day, saturated...Shock
Uni, dd2 developed a rash two days after her 2nd set of jabs, that was the only reaction here, went in about 2 days too.....
LL well done on the expressing Smile
Munz, hadn't heard that about bonjella, have been using Nelsons Teetha here tho, much to dd2's amusement, she's not quite sure what to make of it yet, but I think she likes it Grin

Camping again this weekend, so hopeing the weather cheers up, can't face dd1 in a rainy tent again.....

OP posts:
UniSarah · 15/06/2006 22:05

Tra la la- hear me, I celebrate. boy slept 5.5 hours in his longest stretch yet last night- hurrah.
He had mamoth bed time feed tonight so I can hope...

Frizbe · 15/06/2006 23:09

Well done Uni Sarah, you must be my equilibrium thingy, as we had a bad night! dd1 had decided to take her nappy off in her sleep at 3am, que one very wet bed, 1st I knew about it was when she came into our room and tried to get into our bed with nothing on.....so I took her back to find her jammies, and nappy to find a rather wet bed....changed that and her and then for reasons known only to her, she charged into our room and screamed.....I'm guessing cause I'd just uttered the words 'come on lets get you back into bed...'Que dd2 getting woken up, so I then got to do a big feed for 3/4 of an hour, both boobs....as she thought it was breakfast time....then dh got up for work, and you can guess the rest......and here I am like a nutter still awake now and typing away on here!

OP posts:
Munz · 16/06/2006 08:58

bad night for me - first night we put Joey in his own room/big boy's cot bed - what a bloody nightmare. up every 1.5 hours to his screaming the house down - I swear the neighbours are gonna complain i'm killing him. anyhow all's he wanted was a dummy then back again. I really don't know what to do any more bout this- b4 we went to p'mouth he was quite happily sleeping from 9 to 3 or 4 am then feeding then up at 6 or 7, now it's a whole nuvver case, and I f I feed him at 12 he wants a feed again at 4 then refuses to go back to bed. TYhankfully DH is going to stay up with him tonight so I can get a much needed full night's sleep!

friz - good luck camping, will have to ask mum about the bonjela thingy.

uni - glad you had a long strech of sleep!

Munz · 16/06/2006 09:25

also did this \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1700&threadid=181670&stamp=060612081800\latest Joey piccy}

UniSarah · 16/06/2006 21:11

Sorry Friz- I guess you will have had another bad night - coz we had a briliant one. he slept through (from 11pm) for the 1st time, waking us at 6.15. Dh, turned to me and said " did I miss a feed?" "no" said I, " the boy did". So boy had breakfast in the big bed and a cuddle with daddy in the big bed and then he and I went upstairs at 7. by 8 he was asleep again... needed a nap to get over his good night?
I'm not expecting a repeat performance imediatly but I have some hope now of that midle of the night feed disapearing at some point before hes weaned.

Munz · 17/06/2006 11:26

not too bad here either - Joey went down for 8.20pm (def gonna get him in the bath by 7.30 then fed at 8 then quite cuddles and bed by 8.30 - no fuss made at all) woke at 2am and again at 5 (the 5 was his teeth thou) and then again at 7.15 DH fed him at 2 and got him sorted out althou I woke up went straight back to sleep again as I didn't get up.

closer inspection of his gums thou there's a little point sticking out of his gum on the side of his mouth (not a front tooth) so guess that's why we had such a bad time of it. and I can't get angry with him cos I know how much wisdom teeth hurt to come thru so the poor lamb with a whole mouth ful must be in agony. hopefully we'll have another few good nights b4 they choose to come thru again.

UniSarah · 18/06/2006 19:18

OK we deserved it- boy yelled his head off for 45 mins last night- inconsoleable/ cross not sure which. he did NOT want to go to bed. our fault for lettinf him have 3 hour lunchtime nap then keeping him up late so we could go to house warming party.Eventully I decided he must be getting thirsty after all that shouting and when he breifly paused to draw breath shoved a boob in his face. that shut him up! and mums majic sleepy juice worked it magic this time and he got all nice and dozey and then dropped off to sleep with no more fuss! kids- argh, I find it V stressy when hes yelling for ages like that.

Today however has been Ok so far, not done bedtime yet... boy has watched teh football with daday most of the afternoon so I got to go out on my unicycle and go for a ride ( to the supermarket to get bread) and then do a bit of practise of some skills I need to brush up before the world championships in July. The basics are no problems but doing some stuff with my goofy foot were bit hard after this long lay off. Was nice being back on one wheel .
