Hi alljust been catching up
Jackstini it's hard being back especially of not busy - I brought a recorderable rattle and leave mesages for ds not sure if tehy get played to him but I feel better.
No advice on teh expressing front except nighttime / evening there is meant to be less supply. I am still sporadically feeding ds whcih is nice but it is very much on his terms sometimes he latches on adn is happy and content othertimes he cries for his bottle but it's no problem I am amazed at teh fact I still have milk there for him.

Cadmum · 01/06/2006 23:43

Just a quick Cadfamily update: We are all well and busy. Enjoying our lat 3 weeks in NYC before the big move to Vienna.

DH had been in Vienna this week working. Thankfully he is back late this evening. Single motherhood is for the birds!!!

Are there any othre naughty March mummies who have not had their baby's first jab? Bit of a long story and more excuses than reasons but DD2 has not had hers yet and she is now over 12 weeks. Shock I am potentially the world's worst mother this month. Blush

Children still seem happy and baby is lovely so no permanent damage done yet!

Cadmum · 01/06/2006 23:47

I wanted to ask if there are any thumb suckers out there? DD2 seems to really want to such her thumb but it is often elusive.(hiding in her own fist or positioned so that her fingers poke her eyes). Quite frustrating for the little mite but I am not sure that I should encourage her by helping. (Our other 3 refused dummies and never looked for their thumbs so I am lost here.)

Astrophe · 02/06/2006 10:45

Hope all you girls are well.

Jackstini - I can't for the life of me find info on the Notts Castle Meet up...only one at Rushcliff Park (or something) which I can't make it to. But I am very daft when it comes to finding threads and stuff on archives etc Blush

Cadmum, my little son s the same re. the thumb and I don't know what to do. He has a dummy occasionally but I don't realy like them...but is a thumb any better!? I guess I'll just wait and see if he figures it out himself.

Wow - 3 weeks 'till Vienna...you sound like an extremely accomplished lady Cadmum! Glad your DH is back now, you must have a lot to do.

UniSarah · 02/06/2006 12:46

Cadmum- my DS is a thumb sucker, at 12wks ( now) he can find it fairly well in daylight! but does frequently miss and end up with fingers or knuckles which he gets rather excited by! so for the sake of a quiet night I replace fingers/thumb with dummy at night if hes getting worked up. He got better at finding his thumb after he spent a few afternoons practiceing!

We're nearly packed for holiday- next stop lunch , nappies in of the line and then shoveling it all in the car.

Oh and Major high this morning, Ed did 2 x 4.5 sleeps last night, 1st time ever! he let us have a lie in till 8.30 on the 1st day of our hol! love him to bits

Frizbe · 03/06/2006 14:29

Uni looks like you've picked a great week for hols Grin have a fab time!
Caddy dd1 is a thumb sucker, and not sure if dd2 will be or not yet?? we just left her to find it of her own accord, she got there in the end!
Hope all are having a fab weekend, I've just kicked ss and dd1 into the garden and stuck dd2 under her playarch, and am grabbing 5mins for me, with cuppa n bicks!!

OP posts:
gothicmama · 04/06/2006 19:07

hope you enjoyed your 5 mins Frizbe We've had a fab day visiting friends and am now getting ready for school and work (dd and me)ds is asleep so it is peaceful

laundrylover · 04/06/2006 21:53

Hello all from the house of thrush!! Started with Tilly in the usual place and now in my boobs - ouch! After mass visit to docs we are all being dosed but poor Kiah has cherry flavour mouth stuff and I have choc orange flavour mouth gel for my nips!! Quite a leap for her from breastmilk eh??
Been at the BBC Springwatch festival in Manchester today which was fab and totally free. hoping that this will have tired Tilly out enough not to have a two hour tantrum at midnight - fingers crossed...
On the sucky front Tilly didn't want a dummy and never found her thumb but Kiah now shunned the dummy and can suck her thumb and stroke her nose with both hands Grin.Don't know which is better though as although I am a real dummy snob my sis still sucks her thunb at 30 Shock.
Happy hols Sarah and hope this weather holds out....

Frizbe · 04/06/2006 22:01

ll, cool flavours for the icky stuff Smile what do they think of them??
What went on at the spring watch thing then??
Alton Towers was fab, shockingly quiet, longest que 20 mins! dd2 stuck to her routine all day Shock can set my watch by her Shock she will of course change now I've said this!
dd1 was a star, 2.6 and went on little kids rollercoaster and then wanted to go on and did, the runaway train and liked it Shock (she's tall for her age)
Gothic, I had a fab 5 mins thank you!

Astrophe · 05/06/2006 11:25

Hi girls, bother about the yucky thrush - we have been spared so far.

Had a lovely weekend (hooray, finally proof it does get warm in England!), we had a picnic birthday party in the park for DDs secnd b'day and 14 other kids and we all had a great day!

Since then have all come down with a snotty/coughy/sore throat thing :( Any tips for helping poor little 12 week old ds cope? DD was not ill until she was 8 months 0ld! We have a fab saline spray from Aust but what else can i do for the poor lad?

oh poo...DD just dropped her favourite (toy) frog in the toilet. Ho Hum...

Jackstini · 05/06/2006 13:25

Astrophe - here is link for castle meet up. Will get a lot more posts on it nearer the time. I will have to keep bumping! \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1368&threadid=168436&stamp=060502164559\castle} Hope you rescued the toy from the toilet!
LL - sorry to hear about the thrush - hope it clears up soon
Friz - lol at dd 2.6 on the runaway train! Little daredevil is lucky with her height, I remember I was so short had to wait until age 7 to go on the corkscrew!

Astrophe · 05/06/2006 17:00

Thankyou Jackstini. I'm not sure if we will be there as my folks arive from Austrlaia a few days earlier, but will see how I go (perhaps I will need a break from them!?). It would be nice to meet you. I'll have to get details of where it is closer to the time...only been to Nottingham once to go to the DVLA...queued for over an hour...grrrr what a day!

Frog is out of the toilet and drying on the line...luckily we have two the same!

laundrylover · 05/06/2006 20:31

Kiah has now developed quite a taste for sugary cherry Friz!
Springwatch event was loads of crafty activities, puppets and storytellers etc. PC Plum and Josie Jump also made an appearance but this was a bit lost on Tilly who doesn't really care for TV!
DP will be very jealous of all this Alton Towers talk as he loves the place and is a real rollercoaster junky! Tilly has inherited this gene and merrily goes down huge slides etc - bet he'll insist on a visit this summer....

Frizbe · 06/06/2006 23:14

Hi all, what's been happening then?
LL, a cherry addict!! Grin
nothing much going on here, I've started the slippery slope into formula, as not managing to express enough to keep up with the 6oz bottle demands here for use everyday and dh likes to feed once a day and I like to get out too! so mixed expressed BM and formula last night for a test, went down ok, so went to exercise class today, leaving dd2 and ss with Gran and a bottle of formula and all was well, pumped when I got back, so have bottle of expressed for dh tonight now too! fingers x'd won't have to use it too much, but nice to have a bit of backup.

OP posts:
laundrylover · 06/06/2006 23:20

Hi Friz, should be in bed as am knackered but MNing instead. Had a terrible bedtime with Tilly tonight and lost my temper big time before crying on bed and leaving her and DP to do bed.
Baileys and a bath have much improved my mood thoughGrin.
Reckon a bit of formula is OK but as you said it's a slippery slope so keep them boobs working!

Frizbe · 06/06/2006 23:30

Mmmm dh just off to do the bottle of EBM now, Lost has us running late!
Baileys and a bath sounds fab, mmmmmm nice way to relax, sorry Tilly driving you nuts, they do that some days eh..

OP posts:
Jackstini · 07/06/2006 11:37

Friz - I am in same boat. dd was exclusively bf for first 8 weeks but now am back at work cannot manage to pump the 3 x 4oz bottles needed for each of 3 days at nursery Sad Am just pumping as much as possible and nursery use organic formula when they run out of ebm.
If anyone has any tips for increasing expressing potential let Friz & I know!!
dd has jabs tomorrow so I feel like an evil mummy... will see how it goes

Frizbe · 07/06/2006 21:02

Hope jabs go ok Jackstini
LL how's Tilly today?
I had mare from hell putting dd1 and 2 to bed tonight, as dd1 decided (really tired) to start screaming, which set dd2 off, and then they competed for loudness factor, which dd1 won, as is older, hence larger lung capacity....nice on the ears....she better make some money as a singer in later life I tell ya!
In fact dd2 has been grotty all day with the heat a bit me thinks, but she also seems to have grasped the fact that sometimes she's left on her own (ie in the living room whilst we have dinner) and has decided she's not happy if she's not in the same room as her sister and brother...and not only that but wants to be at the same height too......argh!!!! had to spend dinner with her sat on my knee, once she was with them happy as larry! might have to dig out the highchair, it reclines and is from 4mths, but she is only 3mths......

OP posts:
chellebelle · 08/06/2006 12:05

Hi everyone. Sounds like everyone is getting on ok. Haven't been on for quite a while - still getting into routines etc (which keep being messed up by school holidays - grrr).

Friz - have you come across Bumbo seats? \link{http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Product.aspx/BruHome/BruFeeding/BruFeedingHighchairs/BruFeedingHighchairsAccessories/736856\bumbo seat piccie} We invested in one last week and it has bee a God send. I know it states no to be used on high surfaces and best on the ground etc but Emily sits on my kitchen work top while I'm in there and she loves it - will quite happily sit there for ages :)

Astrophe · 08/06/2006 16:21

Chellebelle - how old is Emily? I have seen though seats and thought they looked really useful, but I assumed they were for older babies than Eli (hes 3 months).

laundrylover · 08/06/2006 22:47

I picked up a Bumbo for a tenner from the flea matket (was very pleased with myself!) but don't think Kiah can use it yet??
OK need a bit of a rant!! Yesterday i went to a work course and took the babe with me who behaved perfectly all day. At 3.30pm went to get the car and the passenger window had been smashed - went to call DP and had no phone - baby brain had caused me to leave it in the car Sad. I had to smash all the bits in with the potty and then DP hoovered up the glass before I picked up Tilly from nursery.
Got booked in at 9am for new window through insurers but in Manchester....Tilly had a tantrum from 12-2.30am....man tried to throw himself off the mancunian way causing complete closure and gridlock and had to do HUGE detour to arrive at 9.30am. Got to post natal group 1 hour and 20 mins late but HV made me a cup of tea on arrival! She also referred me to the nursery nurse to try and sort out the night traumas.
Not looking good tonight as it's so hot that Tilly can't settle as she is so itchy and must be knackered....
Phew! Rant over!
Kiah is still dream baby and now goes to bed in her own room at 7.30pm Smile.
Hope you are doing better then me Friz Grin.

Frizbe · 08/06/2006 22:56

LL I'm doing better thanks! sounds like you had a horrible day of it, here's hoping tomorrow is lots better!
Hope the night terrors sort themselves out soon {{{hugs}}}}

Chellebelle, Thanks I have seen the bumbos, funny you should say acutally cause I won my bidding on one, on ebay last night! Grin so hopefully that'll arrive soon and dd2 will be a
happy bunny Grin

Had a lovely day out with dd1's maternity group, picnic in another mums garden, we all took a different bit of lunch, was great Smile and we now have two new babies added with a 3rd due in the next month Grin

OP posts:
laundrylover · 08/06/2006 23:05

Thanks Friz. Just putting washing out and then off to bed - all quiet upstairs...
Isn't it fab being able to have picnics in the sun after all that rainSmile?

Frizbe · 08/06/2006 23:10

Its great! I can't believe how nice it is just to open the door and bung the kids in the garden for the day Grin
Off to feed dd2 now, catch ya later!

OP posts:
chellebelle · 09/06/2006 13:43

Emily is 13 weeks now but they say you can use the bumble seats from when they can hold their head properly - age wise they say for babies between 3 and 14 months.

Have to say was very pleased with myself last night. Both kids in bed by 7.30. Yay!!! Admitedly Michael (6 yrs old) wasn't asleep but was very proud of myself anyway :) We've only just moved Emily out of our room but she seems to be fine with it and settles really well.

I can't believe how many smiles we get now, it really does make it all worthwhile Grin
