Shiny new thread: we forgot to discuss the title this time!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OiMissus · 21/10/2012 17:35

Hurrah for crawling! And Boooooo! To period horridness and migraines.
BOi spent last night in his room. ...he likes his room in the day, he looks up in wonder at the ceiling compass, boats n bits... But the wonder was not evident in the dark. Baaaaad night. We shall continue.
In other news TEDxSalford was fab today. Grin
Poomageddon without a nappy was grim when I got back! Thank goodness for wooden floors!

OiMissus · 21/10/2012 18:46

(I'll try and post some nursery photos to my profile tomorrow.) Grin

LittleMissFlustered · 21/10/2012 19:05

Glow in the dark paint Oi!

seven77 · 21/10/2012 21:17

Thanks northern. Hope the dishwasher is repairable and not too costly!

Meant to say that Eva is now an independent standing lady, for a few seconds anyway! If she's like me she'll stand perfectly for ages but it will be months before she takes a step!

NorthernChinchilla · 21/10/2012 22:06

Cheers seven. I barely managed the first trimester without kids, so I don't know how you're doing it.

By the way AWCH, how's it going for you? Hope all's OK?

Off to bed soon, hope everyone gets a good night!

Aethelfleda · 21/10/2012 22:54

Last night I dreamt that one of the mothers from school was trying to flog me her house, except while exploring it, somebody set off a nuclear missile by means of a jet-propelled space shuttle with two VW Beetles taped to the side (one was released and dropped onto London to detonate the bomb). I then explored the back of her house (partly to escape the radiation) and found that it actually conceiled an enormous crime bosses' Evil Den Of Evil, which in turn had an exit disguised as a swanky Chinese restaurant populated by fake diners who were all automata....

I think someone needs to tell my subconcious to chill out a little....

Night!

aethel, as long as you didn't tell the viewers about the dream you should be ok! Grin

northen, fingers crossed for a live dishwasher! We'd decided if we have another we'll have to get a dishwasher to replace the one that died last year.

I'm thinking of going for a private scan as I don't 'feel' pg (compared to last time), but I'd hate to go for an early scan, relax because it's all alright then go to the 12wk scan & be told no, it's not alright. If that makes any sense?
Going to see the GP tomorrow & he'll probably bat me off as being mad & hormonal.

Oi, nappy free poomeggdon sounds very grim.

LMF, hope you managed an ok-ish day?

DSM, that sounds very painful! Hope you're feeling slightly better soon.

DS has learnt that if he stands up, he can aim better to throw stuff at me. Had a giraffe upside the head earlier today.

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 22/10/2012 06:53

Northern Hope your dishwasher has survived.

Oi Nappy free Poomaggedon is not good!

Seve Hope your energy levels return soon. First trimester tiredness is worse than any other tiredness.

Aethel Cool dream but don't think viewers need to know Grin

My sodding joints, I just wish I could get a definite diagnosis. Was in tears with the pain yesterday Sad borderline inflammatory markers mean its not rheumatoid as not gone over the border. MRI of my spine shows 2 bulging discs and crumbly bone. My hips are inflamed which makes it hurt to walk and my knees are the same. I've got sciatica and slightly twisted pelvis. My hands lose strength but no one knows why I've got all the above Sad just wish I knew tbh.

OiMissus · 22/10/2012 10:10

aethel did you eat chocolate or cheese before you went to bed? Or was it the pot again? Grin
Poomaggedon yesterday, Poonami this morning!
BOi has spent two nights in his own room now. the first night was awful, but may have been made worse by his constipation, I am now thinking. He hadn't been for 1-2 days.
Poomaggeddon: I saw the obvious purple-faced sign language. waited a few minutes. Got him on the mat to change him. In the nappy, there was a rather solid ball of fair proportion. I began to change, he began to push more out (I believe the raised legs helped!), i threw a nappy under and caught and wiped as required. It kept coming. When "finished" he squirmed out of my grip and crawled off at 7million mph, as normal. I cleaned up. Then looked up. he was sat on the mat/runner below the window, he leaned slightly to one side, and out came more curly solidness. (Sorry for TMI!) I chased over, he crawled off, I wiped and cleaned, then scooped the poop, ensuring that he now stayed on the wooden flooring (get OFF THE RUG!). Then he was stood against the sofa (facing the sofa - thank bob!), and there was a more liquid explosion that sprayed out. Shock. So he went in the bath, and the floor was wiped and mopped.
Poonami: He slept quite well last night in his room, 2 small wake ups that were easily shushed. (hurrah!) This morning, I heard him chattering as I got out of the shower, he was awake and playing. I put his light on, and dropped some toys into the cot to keep him occupied whilst I got ready. I packed up the car and got everything prepped for his day at the GPs. I came back for him with his dressing gown for the car journey, to find that he was damp... and that he had poop all up his back! Luckily it was of a consistency that was easily cleaned with lots of baby wipes (rather than the more sticky cover-all, drop-in-the-bath-now variety), so he was wipe-washed, dressed and shipped to the GPs.
And I was late getting into work. :(

OiMissus · 22/10/2012 10:17

You can see the nursery pics in my profile now. Grin

LittleMissFlustered · 22/10/2012 10:21

Ah, the conversational matter of the mother:o

OiMissus · 22/10/2012 10:36

I know! I could've told you all about TED, the speakers, the ideas, the questions they raise... But no. On my mind this morning, and a little bit on the cuff of my jacket, is poop. Blush

seven77 · 22/10/2012 11:05

Room looks great oi. Poomageddon sounds pretty grim though.

AWCH I know exactly how you feel, I didn't feel pregnant until the tiredness hit me last week. I haven't got a scan date yet, it'll be at least 3 weeks I expect which feels like ages away.

DSM that sounds really painful. DH suffered painful knees through running, he read online that celery seed tablets could help painful joints, he's been taking them for a couple of months and his knees don't hurt at all anymore. He also recommended them to someone on the list for a shoulder replacement, she can now lift her arm above her head for the first time in a couple of years. Obviously I don't expect you to take non-medical 'hippy pills' on the advice of someone on the Internet, but could be worth looking to see what you think. He gets them from Holland and Barrett.

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 22/10/2012 11:30

Seven Thanks. I'll look into them.

We are going to court on Friday to finally get DH parental responsibility of Darcie Grin means he will meet her bio father for first time which I'm dreading but it's a happy thing tho Grin

Figgygal · 22/10/2012 12:54

Oi i know it isnt funny but i just laughed at the description of the poonami there it must be the way you tell it!! I had to wake DS up last night when went up to bed as the closer i got up the stairs to his room the stronger the stench of boy bum got it was overwhelming he was not impressed at being woken at 10pm but then i am not impressed at the 5ams we have returned to recently!!

Back to work after weekend away DS was brilliant apart from 6am wake up yesterday after which he refused to go back to sleep but no screaming. Was in a premier inn and made the most of the all you can eat continental breakfast even squirelling away spare crumpets for figgyboy lunch. He has now perfected crawling after a couple of months of bum shuffling think he found carpeted hotel floors too frustrating he also now developed the frustrating roll and run away from nappy dance at every change so it takes FOREVER to get his nappy changed. Am thinking pull ups are the future?

Best get back to work!! Bleurgh. Will catch up properly later i hope.

BeeMyBaby · 22/10/2012 13:45

AWCH They say sometimes different baby genders give you different pregnancies - so maybe you are having a girl?

I have a headache too :( with slightly blurred vision, taken lots of painkillers but can't wait to take more. Can't leave work as its far more restful than a baby and toddler. Sad

Aethelfleda · 22/10/2012 16:52

Oh no, lots of aches and pains. Have you tried cod liver oil capsules and glucosamine tablets DSm? they aren't strictly hard evidence-based but are anecdotally very good for achey joints.

bee grotty headaches, hope it settles soln and you get a quiet dark room to recover in for a few hours.

oi : that is GRIM. I love you dearly but that is just TMI (and I used to be a health care assistant when I was younger, I am extremely resistAnt to poo related boaks! )

figgy, we get that too. I favour the trussed-up-rotiserie-chicken look (hold baby in air by one ankle while wrestling the nappy on as he rotates). Roll on toilet training!

OP posts:
MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 22/10/2012 17:26

Aethel I take cod liver oil with my Evening primrose oil every morning. The other thing I have tried before but to no helpful effect. I know I have severe joint hypermobility too. Darcie has it also Sad just wish there was a def diagnosis. Also have Raynards which doesn't help when I'm cold! Thanks tho Smile

NorthernChinchilla · 22/10/2012 20:09

"AAAWWWWW GOD!" is the sound of my DP as I relate the poomageddon story Grin Champion BOi, champion! Love the nursery.

Dishwasher is not happy, and so a call out is needed. DP keeps on going on about how 'primitive' it is doing the washing up Hmm because he's a cossetted little darling who even had a dishwasher when he was a student handy when Mummy and Daddy buy a student house for you to live in

If you're feeling unsure AWCH, I'd go for an early scan if you can afford it, to put your mind at rest. I think you need to wait til about 7ish weeks for there to be anything much to see, but I'd do it.

Glad you enjoyed your weekend away figgy, was it just a mini break for the three of you or were you visiting friends/family? Premier Inns are grand, we were in the one in Haymarket in Bristol (sadly what appears to be the one grim bit of the city? The rest was lovely, especially the Cathedral)

Have made chicken ham and leek pie for dinner, so will serve up!

OiMissus · 22/10/2012 22:04

Sorry for the poo tmi. Blush
Oh ladies - different pregnancies/different sex of baby!! How exciting! Smile

NorthernChinchilla · 22/10/2012 22:18

Nah, I'm of the view Oi that when it comes to our DCs' snot/poo/earwax there is no TMI!

I'm just wishing I had a story to beat it Wink

LittleMissFlustered · 22/10/2012 22:21

My middle one, the younger minion who shall henceforth be known as Boo, wandered in the other day and informed me that his pop was bigger than his bum so he'd had to take it out. I sent him for a bath. He wasn't amused:o

LittleMissFlustered · 22/10/2012 22:22

Poo, not pop. Sodding bastarding pile of shite phone!

Aethelfleda · 23/10/2012 07:22

where has the time gone? It's nearly winter again!

OP posts:
GeeandTee · 23/10/2012 08:56

We are still sleeping through over here, it's a miracle!

I am hating this weather though, due to illness I've had both DCs by myself for nearly 2 weeks now and running out of indoor activities.

oi I loved your poo story too!
