We did a full feed and still made it on time.:) She was on good behaviour - pil couldn't believe the change in her in a week, and I got to eat dinner in peace whilst she napped in her car seat :).

Home now and she's asleep buried into my lap. Can't decide when I should wake her for feed as last feed started at 3:20 but didn't finish til nearly 5:30 as she kept falling asleep during it!!

Jas - meant to say another vote for Leon here. My brother is a Jason so I'm hardly going to pick that!!

Ixel - also slightly confused by your topping up. If he's not stimulating supply in evenings then it won't increase, so you'll be stuck in vicious circle. Perhaps you could use machine to stimulate evening supply once he's finished until it builds up?

You've made me so happy... more people on my side re the buggy Grin Also have my aunt, and a neighbour (who has a car and still sees the need for a double buggy, with the same aged sons as me). The only thing that bothers me now is that although he needs it for when he gets tired, he does also tend to run around after a while of walking. Should he be fully 'trained' by this age? I want him to be good, but I dont want a little automaton like some people's kids!

Re the feeding. Yes, it could end up in a vicious circle. But the idea was that I feed him till satisfied, ie till he stops, then express, and offer him part of that, which he will take because a bottle requires less effort to get milk from.Apparently, he was also supposed to learn the feeling of a full tummy, and want to suck harder on the breast to reproduce the feeling. But I know it couls also go the other way, and encourage him to be lazy and just want a bottle.
And some is getting frozen for if I give up! I'm trying to really set my sights for 3 months now, at which point I'll try and talk myself into 4. I have no moral qualms about giving him formula... didn't hurt ds1... its just easier to get out and about with milk on tap, and thats whats keeping me going Smile

Jasnem · 26/03/2006 20:13

Evening,
I always used a wrist strap with DD1. She wasn't a runner, but the threat of the "strap" was enough to be able to rely on safe behaviour around roads etc. I've not met many 2 1/2 year olds that never run off., so I wouldn't worry, Ixel.
Good plan for the bf, too. I bet it's miles easier by 3 months, and you end up as someone who keeps going for a year!

Does no-one like Jason then? It's dp's middle name (I found out last week it was supposed to be his first name but his father registered him and changed it Shock). I do have a friend with a 2 yr old Jason though so slightly worried about using it.
I do prefer Leon (Why do I want to name my son after a film chacachter who kills people for a living?Grin)
We'll probably end up with something totally different.

Boy is cluster feeding in the evenings now (yesterday and today)but sleeping more once he does settle, so maybe that's a bit of a routine.

ixel · 26/03/2006 20:17

Thats not a bad idea.. thanks Smile I didn't really want to use reins or the like, but using it as a threat is a good idea! Although same said friend would critisize me for that too, as being too negative parenting...

I do like Jason in itself, just bad memories of an early boyfriend Smile

4blue1pink · 26/03/2006 20:56

Jas - I like Jason cos its a bit different now and leon though lovely is up and coming! My poor boy was nearly named till i met a woman in waterstones who had a friend who had just named hers the same!! Sad

6 weeks on tuesdayBlush

Chloe55 · 27/03/2006 08:11

Morning girls,

Spent the night at my mothers last night to try and get ds used to different beds so that we don't have issues when stopping at friends/pils/holidays. He settled really well in the travel cot, I unfortunately didn't and spent most of the night kipping on the floor as dh decided to have one too many and spent the majority of the night nicking the bed, snoring and making gipping sounds (I was paranoid he might throw up so I couldn't sleep in the same bed as him!) It obviously also meant that I did all the nightime feeds and changes with no-one to share them with Sad Git!!! Am pleased to say he is feeling very ropey and has had to go to work Grin

Jas - Leon my be the name of someone who kills people for a living but at least he was a nice sweet man deep down Wink

I must admit Ixel, when I was shopping the other day and had to wait for a waitress to warm ds' bottle I was starting to wish I could just whop a boob out Smile

Oh, yes - the heating is fixed, woohoo!!

hotmama · 27/03/2006 08:40

Lots of catching up to do.

Belated Mothers day Greetings to all - yesterday was also my birthday - I was 39! Shock Don't even start talking about next year (fingers in ears icon).

Had to see the emergency doctor on Saturday as my c-section area has got inflamed (this is obviously why I was feeling crappy last week) Anyway, seems that I have got an infection so have been prescribed antibiotics so hopefully will get better. It is so tender and swollen - got my 6 week check at the hosp on Weds.

Had our Mums for lunch yesterday so I could show off my pressie which was ........ a diamond and platinum engagement ring - lalalalala! GrinGrin

Well, we have been together for 25 years this July so thought it was about time we got married - I already have 2 bridesmaids in waiting. Wink

So although I feel like death - I also feel all girly! Smile

Dd1 has gone to nursery and dd2 is sleeping, so I will check on the posts and come back.

Hope everyone is O.K. Smile

hotmama · 27/03/2006 08:53

Can't believe that a 2 year old is seen as too old for a pushchair! FFS - they only have little legs (and they are kept in one place so they don't run off Wink. I assume I will be using one until the dd's are well over 3 - and I use my car most of the time.

My bf is going O.K, I thinking I am chilling out a bit more about it as well which is helping.

Please stop beating yourselves up if it is going pearshaped, I lasted for 10 weeks with dd1 - was mixed feeding from the first week - and she is O.K - formula doesn't kill them and it doesn't make you an evil mum.

I have found that as a mum I am now a lot more humble as a person, because this mothering lark can be bloody hard so I will never criticize another mum's choices - unless it is feeding bleach! Wink

Flamesparrow · 27/03/2006 09:14

Congratulations HM!!! Grin

Speaking from experience... its great having your own child/ren as bridesmaids Grin. I love being able to look at my photos and see my baby in them with me (even if her arm is in plaster!!!) She did refuse to talk to me for most of the day though :( I normally wear jeans and glasses - mummy in a "princess dress" with no glasses threw her too much and she didn't want to touch me!

Ixel - I forgot to say yesterday... all children are different! If you want a double buggy, then go for it. DD is far too independent for her own good and has been refusing to go in one since about 2 (also has far too much energy so tiredness isn't really an issue Wink), but my friend's son is 3, 4 in July, and he is still in a buggy a lot of the time - partly tiredness, partly because he runs off. I sort of understand the feeding logic now.

Chloe - Yay for heating! Grin

I've forgotten everything else I meant to write... done a nappy change and put washing in since starting the post Blush

Saw my dad and my two pregnant step sisters yesterday... its really weird seeing them both due a couple of weeks apart. My dad is whinging about the cost (two car seats etc) Grin.. he'll be whinging more when reality of a newborn living there kicks in!!!

Tabs · 27/03/2006 09:24

DD was so good yesterday, but looks like she has picked today to go all off routine instead! She's wide awake and on one of her mammoth feeds again. Meanwhile I have a bath waiting that has been run for over half an hour already, and need to be ready to go to MN meet up by 11:15, with loads of other stuff to do first (most of which, except sorting change bag, can wait). Ah well, must stay calm - should be used to it by now!

Congratulations Hotmama! Quite a day for you yesterday. Have you set a date yet?

OP posts:
Jasnem · 27/03/2006 09:31

Congratulations HM - can't believe you type 6 whole lines before dropping in the platinum and diamond ring!
I agree about being humble ( and less judgemental than I may have been when childlessBlush)

DP is working, and has got lifts this week, so I get to use the car!Don't know whether to go out later or not now though. Boy is sleeping so I'm going to cook and clean 'til he wakes up.

Chloe55 · 27/03/2006 09:54

Here comes the bride dee dee dee dee dee!! CONGRATS Hotmama Grin

ixel · 27/03/2006 10:04

Sympathise with the infected scar... mine was all red and yucky, just not quite enough for antibiotics, but OI'm still back in dh's boxers, as I('m so scared of my knickers rubbing on the scar!
More suport for my buggy situation... yay! Grin

Flamesparrow · 27/03/2006 10:16

Grin You're going to be printing this out and waving it in her face aren't you?

I just want to come and say how nice it is to have a child who sleeps in the day... DD was such a nightmare - always awake, and if I did manage to convince her to sleep, it was holding her and her sleeping on my chest. DS is sooo different... make sure he's not windy, swaddle him, lay him down awake in his pram in the diningroom, and just leave him ShockGrin. Now if he could do that at nighttime....

Tabs · 27/03/2006 10:32

Jasnem - come to the meetup! 11:45 in Cafe Rouge in Hitchin. Would be great to have some public breastfeeding company!!!

Now bathed (put DD in sitter in bathroom in the end!) and DD is asleep. Will go through next guilt trip when I have to wake her to change her nappy before we go out. Is there anything that we mums don't feel guilty about?!

BTW, is it time for us to have a conversation about our sex lives yet? Have people resumed one, or still feel it's too early? DH is keen, but I'm too bloody knackered the whole time, and don't want to have to schedule it for some time when I know Pippa's going to be asleep for a while. Besides which, he's only here at the weekends, so opportunities are a bit limited anyway. Think he thinks I'm being unreasonable, but I had asasumed that this was fairly normal - is it?

OP posts:
Jasnem · 27/03/2006 10:40

I'd love to do one a bit closer to home...Hitchen's not really that close to here is it?
I used to have DD2 in her chair in the bathroom all the time, so I could give her a quick jiggle. Even at a v young age she cried when I was out of her sight.

Sex? Are you kidding?.The boy is only 4 weeks, but I'm not even considering it yet...Do you have any idea how many stitches I had?GrinAnd they were infected!
I did do it by 6 weeks after both DDs (less stitches, sleepy baby, and Csect, heeled well) Just so I knew it still worked before I had my check.
Don't think I will this time though.

Just about anything on the time spectrum is "normal" Make him wait 'til you're readySmile

Helen38 · 27/03/2006 10:45

Hello!

had a quick read through last couple of days but very little has stayed in brain Wink congrats to hm, ds1 was 18mths old when we got married and it was lovely for him to be a part of itGrin

Too much to read as I really am not getting on here much so I'm asking ebven tho the answer is prob on here somewhere...... tell me about thrush please. HV thinks I have it got dr appt tomorrow, have really sore red nips, feeding hurts like hell, it's not positioning, I know that's fine, he has always latched on fine. I also get really bad pains in my boobs after I feed sort of deep inside, I was getting in a right state yesterday untill managed to use a nipple shield so that I can at least latch him on without wanting to cry. I saw dr last week as was shivery and had red lumpy boob so thought was starting with mastitis, but haven't used the antibiotics as have managed to feed through it, he said nips were fine and is normal to be a bit sore and itchy but hv said to go see someone else which is why am going tomorrow not today. So what do you think? thrush??????

Also v tired as ds1 didn't go to sleep until 12 last night!!!!!!!Angry we were not happy

Flamesparrow · 27/03/2006 10:52

With DD nothing happened for a very long time... to start with too sore and tired, then something went wrong at my 6 week check (possibly before), and some grazes that I had decided to heal together, rather than over themselves, and I had joined up girly bits Shock... several months later after being "Oooh how interesting"-ed by several doctors, they unstuck me, but then I was sore after that, so it was even longer again!!! I have a very patient DH Blush

This time... even though I had stitches (which I didn't with DD), I've actually had times since about last Monday when I've fancied it Shock. Fear has stopped it though - not fear of pain, fear of babies... I seem to be super fertile (fallen first try for both children), and don't trust condoms enough!!! I'm not having anything near me until I am contraceptived again!!! Going to try and see the doctor to find out about a coil, and then get that done at my six week check.

Helen38 · 27/03/2006 11:12

Sex!!!!!????? are you kidding? It's got to be the last thing on the mind of most women who have had a baby, he had best get used to the idea that sex life post baby isn't the same as pre baby, you wait untill you feel ready, it doesn't kill them to do without for a while Wink Mind you we did it much sooner after the c-sec than when I had stitches and it will be quite some time this time as most of my stiches are internal. But don't worry, I'm sure you will feel like it again in time, that's what caused me to end up with 3WinkGrin

Would you all thik I was mad if I said might end up going for no4???? Shock

Chloe55 · 27/03/2006 11:18

Yes Grin

Jasnem · 27/03/2006 11:22

Hi Helen, you know you have to have sex again if you want no 4????Grin
I'm pretty certain I won't be...having a fourth that is. I will resume the sex eventually.
After dd2 I could never quite imagine not being pregnant again. Now that feeling in definitely gone, so I think three will be enough for me.

Pain deep inside after feeding sounds like thrush in your milk ducts (I have no personal experience though almost everyone else on this thread atm does, and I've been reading up on other threads, too)
If it is, you're definitely right not to take the abs. Also make sure baby gets treated too. HTH and you get a better dr this time.

Flame - Joined up girly bits sounds scary!

cuffyj1 · 27/03/2006 11:27

Hi

Chloe - Was your ds ok in a travel cot, we've got one but i wasn't sure about using it with the whole thing about cot death and cot matresses been safe. The one we've got has got a hard base is that wot yours is like?

Helen38 · 27/03/2006 11:50

Well yes sex at some point will happen again, but I need to be sure stiches are all gone first.

Not certain will have another one but am less sure that I don't want more than I felt this long after ds2 was born, does that make sense?

hotmama · 27/03/2006 12:44

Sex? - even though my girly bits are intact after dd2 - I'd rather have some sleep - and I'm sure dp feels the same. Mind you I look and feel a picture of health and beauty at the moment - ravishing - I think not! Wink

With dd1, I had sex after 16 weeks, (I had a lovely forceps delivery etc) I needed lots of red wine to brave it - and was fine.

As dp has recently seen my uterus, I don't think he is in much of a hurry either! Shock.

Tell your dp/dh, the time is right when you decide - there isn't a set time.

To paraphrase Chandler from Friends - it's not as if your virginity is going to grow back! Grin

Grin Thanks for the congrats - will let you know when we decide dates etc.

cuffyj1 · 27/03/2006 13:09

Just been to clinic and ds is 12lb 9.5oz.

DH is starting to get on my nerves begging for sex every night. Flame i'm the same as you, scared of getting pg again so soon especially after c-section (supposedly wait a year to heal properly)

My c-section wound is a bit gunky and slightly red again too not sure wether to go to docs with it or leave it see if it gets any better on its own, it doesn't hurt or anything.

Congrats hotmama! :)

Jas - I like Leon too.
