I rarely make chocolate and walnut brownies there's something like a pound and a half of dark chocolate in them:o

Wow, those all sound like great brownies.

Fifth birthday excitingness at this end. Currently watching their favourite DVD of the moment (round the twist if anyone remembers it from 80s kiddy BBC?) while munching a picnic lunch. Dinner venue will be choice of DD2, we're delaying a party til all are back at school as last time half her froends were still away. Perils of August babies!!

LittleMissFlustered · 27/08/2012 15:01

Do you ever, ever feel Like this? How strange things happen, am I going Roy's the twist? aethel?

Kitty5824 · 27/08/2012 15:01

MissRee Sad I can't even imagine. How horrible. Makes you realise how lucky we've all been doesn't it? Am keeping everything crossed they get to the bottom of whatever the problem is.

I'm on a massive ebay listing session...why do the blinking photo's take so long to upload?

If anyone is looking for size 12 or 14 Petite suits for work etc I am emptying my Mum's work wardrobe now she has retired Smile

LittleMissFlustered · 27/08/2012 15:03

Round, not Roy. Cat was assisting >_<

Love Round the Twist Grin

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 27/08/2012 19:22

Hoping Sky will sleep thru tonight as I've really stuck to the meals today as new week and about time I got more strict with myself about meals with her.

So today:

8oz bottle at 7:30
Porridge at 9:30 with water
8oz bottle at 11:30
Mince, mash & veg at 1pm with water
6oz bottle at 4:30pm
Snack 5:30pm
10oz now before bed.

That's good right? Can't remember back 7.5yrs ago how I did it. Know I was a lot stricter then too!

Also started milk in a bottle during the day as I know for a fact I had Darcie completely off a bottle at 12mths old!

Had my parents around for the day and we 've had a brilliant day.

Will def upload wedding photos tomorrow as DH goes back to work after the week off Smile

NorthernChinchilla · 27/08/2012 20:17

Oh boy, I took a sharp intake of breath, DP asked what it was, I said "...blah blah 'Going Round the Twist'" and we both broke out into song! I LOVED that, it was just about my favourite TV programme when I was little. May have to get it myself Grin

The brownies are all shades of evil aren't they Mopsy? It was only because the receipe was in the paper, plus a family visit (and DP begging) that I thought I'd do them. To top it all, my DStepM brought marble cake, so with that, homemade pie which may have had a lard and butter pastry and then the brownies, I'm amazed we made it through the door!

Mind you, DS is so active we burn it all off. Even my Dad was saying, although I was the ultimate potato baby, even my siblings didn't get around as much as DS (they wondered why we'd got cushions all around the room- must've thought DP and I were having a pillow fight til we explained that they were there for DS!)

Is there any more news MissRee? Is he their first, or do they have other DCs to look after? How utterly awful.

MissRee · 27/08/2012 20:31

He's out of intensive care as of this evening and they're hoping to have him home by the end of the week Grin yay! They have 2 other boys - 6 and 3! and they're both little sods Grin

Today we have been mooching around sunny Saaaarfffend Grin

Tomorrow, Chessington.

I have a chest infection and am feeling pretty damn rotten. The things we do for kids! Nanny has Freya tonight and tomorrow so we can have some quality time with Jack.

aethelfleda · 27/08/2012 21:43

More tea, anyone?

MissRee · 27/08/2012 21:54

Had my nightnurse and amoxycillin, am off to bed to try and sleep better than I did last night!

It looks like we have our first toothypeg just about to break the surface now Grin would explain the grumps (and trumps!) yesterday!

seven77 · 27/08/2012 22:01

That's fantastic news missree, so thrilled he's ok. Hope your chest is better soon.

Where was dinner aethel? Hope the birthday went well,

DSM I know what you mean about being more relaxed this time, DS was having milk in a cup now or thereabouts, we got rid of the bedtime one at 16 months. At least Eva never took to a dummy so we're ahead on that front. I know I shouldn't but I can't help judging my sister for her DD still having a bottle at almost 2. Is anyone else as much of a judgemental parent as me? Blush

Today I have expressed an interest in joining my local WI. I think I'd fit in, I do charity work, I love baking and knitting, and would also love to be able to quilt and crochet. It just depends if there's anyone under the age of 80 :o

KateM77 · 27/08/2012 22:02

That's great news MissRee

aethel thanks for reminding me of round the twist. I loved that programme! One to buy DD when she's older. We've currently got her on Camberwick Green, Bagpuss, Paddington Bear etc.

hawthers good hair

Sorry, on phone and can't remember who else I wanted to mention.

Had a nice weekend, went out for a couple of family bike rides now that we have two weeride seats, and had friends visiting yesterday too.

DS started waving a couple of weeks ago, and it's just the cutest thing. Nowhere near clapping though, he just finds that highly amusing!

Tooth 3 has just poked through. First two were fairly normally bottom middle ones, but this one is top second from middle rather than top middle, so he'll look a bit odd.

Our routine:
6.30am 5oz bottle
8am weetabix or porridge
10.30am small snack and 5oz bottle
12.30pm lunch of pasta and sauce, lentil and veg, chicken and veg puree, fish cakes or fish fingers and veg. Followed by fruit.
3pm small snack and 5oz bottle
5pm tea of cheese on toast, scrambled egg or beans with toast, breadsticks or pitta with houmous, cheese sticks, cucumber sticks. Followed by yogurt or grimace fraud.
6.45pm 7oz bedtime bottle

seven77 · 27/08/2012 22:06

I knew there was something else I wanted to say, I hated round the twist! Isis watch byker grove though, and we had sky so American crap TV like Sister Sister and Sabrina the Teenage Witch on Nickelodeon.

kate have you tried Button Moon? DS loves it.

KateM77 · 27/08/2012 22:09

I should point out those are the sorts of lunch and tea things he has. He doesn't eat all of those things every day Smile

aethelfleda · 27/08/2012 22:25

Aww, button moon! dVD is only about a fiver on play.com.

seven, her choice was the highly classy CrackDonalds. Marvellous. Ended up with a takeaway version as DS was a bit unsettled again. Definitely one upper tooth breaking through, high up jn the gum but that may be wacky dentistry related to his tongue tie.

Just been trounced at Dominion by DH, my cards were rubbish. I am a crap loser, far too competetive.

KateM77 · 27/08/2012 22:28

Yes, button moon is another of her favourites seven

LittleMissFlustered · 27/08/2012 23:05

They're never too young for Dictor Who:o Octoboy thoroughly enjoyed the two proms with his minions this afternoon/evening:)

OP posts:
DeterminedandSpecialMum · 28/08/2012 06:41

MissRee That's fab news Smile

Seven In that respect I am a judgmental parent. Really annoys me when you see 2-4 year olds with a bottle. More infuriating is when they are filled with Juice or Tea!

We are def Button Moon fans here. Had the DVD before Darcie arrived. Blush
Other favourites are Rainbow, Fraggle Rock, Duck Tales & Chip & Dale rescue rangers Grin

LittleMissFlustered · 28/08/2012 07:46

Think juice and tea in a bottle is bad? I once witnessed a mum filling a toddler's bottle with own-brand energy drink. No joke:(

OP posts:
CherryBlossom27 · 28/08/2012 08:36

Morning everyone!

Miss Ree that's great news about your friends baby. Fingers crossed they're both better and home soon!

DSM at the moment DS's schedule is something like this:

7am wake up and have 1 weetabix or ready brek with puréed apple or pear mixed with formula milk and he drinks whatever formula milk is left. I make up 210mls of formula.

9am morning nap

11am 210mls of formula, followed by lunch. I'm trying to give him his cooked meal at lunchtime now as he eats more at lunchtime than dinner time. I offer water too.

3pm DS refuses milk now so I have started offering him a banana as a snack. Nap time around this time of day, but sometimes earlier.

5pm dinner & water.

7pm 210mls of formula and the bedtime.

We are having teething hell at the moment :( poor DS has produced 5 teeth in less than 30 days and he seems to be getting 2 more (his vampire teeth at the top as me & DH like to call them). He isn't napping well during the daytime at all and he woke up twice last night crying his eyes out, it was really awful. He doesn't seem a great deal happier today to be honest.

LittleMissFlustered · 28/08/2012 09:21

If its definitely teeth, I'd try preemptive calpol at bedtime to try to help the poor soul get a bit of sleep:(

OP posts:
KateM77 · 28/08/2012 12:51

Cherry sympathies to your DS if it is the canines coming through. I think generally they arrive after the incisors and pre-molars. DD didn't get her canines until she was around 2, and they were the only ones that really gave her any grief as they have such a long root. She kept saying she had an ouch in her eye Sad. Calpol or nurofen definitely required for your LO!

Figgygal · 28/08/2012 13:30

Wow SO many teeth i had a good root around in Ds's mouth yesterday still not a sign of any...am dreading it starting!!

I was convinced we would have an awful night last night he is just so snotty he is coughing a lot in the night too but he didnt wake until 5.30 had a bottle and bum change then slept again until 7.45. The CM hasnt sent him home so cant be that bad!!
