New thread time!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 06/08/2012 08:30

These are the jabs that I forgot last Monday. Blush DH had better be able to come home, because the car seat is in the car.

pommedechocolat · 06/08/2012 08:36

Not a huge success last night... She was awake from 3 till 4 post a 9.30 and 12.30 feed. I fed her twice durung that time whilst weeping! Something needs to be done though. I've had so little sleep this weekend I look and feel 105. Having an Abbie a good slimming aid though as I am back at my pre pg weight now possibly less.

I need to try a dummy again maybe?

scarletfingernail · 06/08/2012 09:07

(((hugs))) Pomme I have huge respect for you carrying on with BFing through all this. Will she still not take a bottle from DH if you express? I felt for you when I read through your posts yesterday Sad

Hope you manage to get M's jabs done today Too

Hope you managed another good night Dream?

Pet have you been to all your Olympic events now?

We've been away for a relative's birthday party. A 21st birthday party in a house/garden. Although both DC behaved brilliantly it was just stressful. DS won't sit still for longer than 30 seconds so one of us was having to follow him round everywhere and DD was just not wanting to go to sleep at all. I can't believe how long she stayed awake for, she was just loving looking round at everyone. Party animal in the making. DH and I barely spent 2 minutes together. Nice to see family though.

Wants3 · 06/08/2012 09:14

I have occasionally used a dummy if I know D is not hungry and fighting sleep. It helps him to relax in to sleep without me having to rock or pat.
Aww bless D is sitting in his bouncer and his foot kicked the button that makes the chair vibrate. His eyes went really wide:)
I have even greater respect and admiration for you ladies that are dealing with refluxy babies everyday. I just had a few hours where D obviously had tummy pain( I could hear it grumbling) and he was not happy. He then did the longest, loudest fart ever followed by a huge poo and he was right as rain again! Typically it was then that DH came home. He didn't believe what I had been through until he saw the pile of sicky clothes and my untouched posh coffee that he had made before he went out!
Ds1 is due home today but there was a 5 hour delay on his flight so it will not be until this evening now:(

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 06/08/2012 09:24

Still waiting for DH to call back - maybe his boss isn't in yet. Stupid flexi time!

Pomme, have a big Brew. Is there anyone who might take both DDs for a few hours during the day to let you snooze? I know it's not a solution, but it might help you feel a bit more able to cope in the short-term. Maybe the dummy would help - what happened last time you tried it?

Scarlet, your party sounds fun - little party animal DD! M is the same at big family gatherings - just wants to stare at everyone and won't go to sleep. It'll be the same thing tonight when the kids are here. Ah well.

Can I pick your brains for children's entertainment ideas? At M's naming party - which is less than 2 weeks away now - there will be about 8 kids with ages ranging from 10 to 3, boys and girls. I thought I would set up a kids' table with bubbles, party poppers, colouring books, and maybe something like a bead-kit for the older girls and something else crafty for the older boys. What can I get for the older boys? Will this be enough to keep them happy? Should there be something energetic as well? There's not much of a garden at the village hall, and we've to be careful that nothing flies over the wall into the neighbour's garden, so that rules out things like Nerf guns or rounders. Perhaps I could get croquet or something.

pommedechocolat · 06/08/2012 09:37

ooo too - cameras! I had lots of kids at our wedding and I did them gender and age tailored bags each but all of them bar the babies had disposable cameras which they ADORED. Boys liked airplane things and spiderman/bob the builder sticker books and magic trick kits as well.

Last time I tried a dummy A cried because she didn't want it and dd1 went mental because she isn't allowed one in the day and started screaming 'it's not night time, it's not night time' Hmm. Verrr successful :)

too - I should go to bed at seven when dd1 does but the Olympics is stopping me because I love it. I guess I'm prioritising that over sleep. Not really anyone that can help although my mum might come down next week so might ask her for some nap time.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 06/08/2012 09:44

Oooh, cameras are a great idea, Pomme! Good thinking!

Oh dear, sounds like the dummy thing might be a bit fraught with difficulty! Maybe worth a try at night when DD1 can't see you?

Biscuitsandtea · 06/08/2012 10:17

Oh Pomme have a Brew you poor thing Sad

Is it worth considering a sleep consultant or something to see if there's anything they can suggest? I really feel for you but just can't think of anything helpful to suggest Confused. Fingers crossed your mum can help out when she visits

Dream that's amazing news! Hope it was repeated last night too! Not long I'm sure until you'll be able to look back on these sleep deprived times and laugh Hmm or maybe not laugh but I do hope the sleep deprivation is on its way out

Scarlet sounds like a nice party. These things are hard work with the ds's aren't they - mine won't sit still either so I feel your pain there Smile

Hope everyone else is well x

Brew all round

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 06/08/2012 10:19

Meant to say, Pomme, well done on being back at pre-pg weight or lower! Every cloud has a silver lining. Not that A is a cloud, but her sleep patterns are.

I have been doing the paleo/low-carb diet for 8 weeks and have lost a stone! Smile That puts me nearly back at my pre-DD1 weight (only 4 or 5lbs to go), and only 8lbs or so over a healthy BMI. I need to do some toning, though - my tummy is flatter but still very wobbly. I'm hoping it just needs exercise and it's not going to be permanent loose skin.

Biscuitsandtea · 06/08/2012 10:22

Well done pomme and too Grin great effort.

My efforts are hit and miss, ok just more miss really. Not helped by ds1 wanting to make chocolate cakes yesterday Hmm

scarletfingernail · 06/08/2012 11:19

DD has started bringing up lots of clear fluid over the last week or so as well as being a lot more sicky than she's ever been. Is that acid reflux? It's mostly in the morning usually started by a struggle during her first feed of the day. Her head starts moving around and she's squirmy and fidgety. I take her off to try winding her and then it starts. I've fed her once from one boob so far today, she wasn't bothered really and is now sitting in her chair randomly spitting clear fluid out. She's not bothered by it but also keeps coughing a lot. It was quite bad Weds and Thurs last week but seemed ok over the weekend. It seems to have ramped up today. Is it normal for it to be clear and is it likely to be saliva or stomach acid? Confused

NinjaChipmunk · 06/08/2012 11:40

is she teething scarlet? I seem to remember ds producing huge amounts of saliva that he would sick up. Other than that I'm not sure, would acid smell different?
pomme big hugs to you, I so hope things get a little better for you soon.
too I think older boys just like to run around and chase each other? Grin cameras are a brilliant idea though.
wants I hope your ds had a brilliant time on his trip Smile

DD has put on weight!!!!! She was 7lb 5oz last monday and is 8lb 2oz this week. I am chuffed.
Also who still uses breast pads? I have 3/4 of a box of posh ones (made by lansinoh, all individually wrapped) going spare. If anyone wants them, pm me and i'll stick them in a jiffy bag and post them off. Quiet day here, may pop into town and see if there are any nice clothes about I can treat myself to.

scarletfingernail · 06/08/2012 13:10

Well done Ninja's DD and well done Ninja! That's excellent weight gain.

I did wonder about teething but thought that she must be too young still? She's 14 weeks now. DS didn't get his first tooth until after his first birthday so it seems impossibly young to me. But she is very dribbly as well and has started chewing on her fingers all the time when she's awake and not feeding. Not sure if acid smells different, what she's bringing up smells of baby sick even though it's clear Confused

I need a bit of a slap with a wet fish. DS is saying his tummy hurts [terrified emotion] I asked if he hurt it on anything and he said no it hurts on it's own. He keeps holding it and has just now gone to bed for a nap without complaining. I've got the shakes with anxiety now Sad DH is working away, MIL has just had an op and my Mum is away until tomorrow. I'm sooooo worried he's going to throw up and I'm going to have to deal with it on my own Sad As of tomorrow Mum will be with us for the rest of the week, then DH breaks up for 2 weeks. Why did this have to happen today?

NinjaChipmunk · 06/08/2012 13:32

it was the bottle not the boob that did it but I have made my peace with that Smile
oh scarlet try not to worry/ panic (I know thats easier said than done with a phobia), nothing has actually happened yet. I don't know what to suggest, maybe try to detach yourself from it and look at being practical. IF he mentions feeling sick then give him a bowl to keep with him, that way 'dealing with it' will be flushing the contents down the loo and rinsing with boiled water before sticking in the dishwasher. You will not have to touch it at all. IF it is something else, he may feel fine after a nap and some bland food. Good luck, maybe call your dh for some moral support?

Biscuitsandtea · 06/08/2012 13:37

Brooking its nothing for your DS Scarlet Thanks. Ds1 sometimes says his funny hurts and this is often followed by a big poo later in the day do could be that? Maybe keep a bucket or similar handy just on case? Did you get your appt thrift for the counselling thing yet?

Failing all else i'll come round and clean up and ds2 and your dd can compare dribble types! Ds2 is teething-y today - just wants to be held when awake. Oh well the kitchen didn't need a clean that much.... Hmm

Biscuitsandtea · 06/08/2012 13:38

Feel free to replace the mistakes with words that make sense there BlushGrin

jaggythistle · 06/08/2012 13:45

I'm wondering if R is joining in with early teething at 15 weeks. DS1 didn't get teeth till 6 months and i can't remember when he started grumbling. R is doing a lot of sudden cries and saliva dribble in between pukes. he's also v hungry though, think he's maybe having a growth spurt. he cries straight away for food when he wakes from a nap, as if he's been starved instead of fed about an hour ago.

brooking for DS to feel all better asap scarlet!

scarletfingernail · 06/08/2012 13:46

Aww thanks Biscuits and Ninja. Weirdly it's not so much the clearing up that bothers me. It's the actual happening of it iyswim? I sound so awful I know, but it's the being near him while he's doing it, I'm so freaked out by retching and seeing it and hearing it happen I don't think I'll be able to comfort him Sad He's already done a big poo this morning Biscuits

Appointment came through for mid October. I'm a bit worried about how much I'm relying on it working, I don't want to be disappointed.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 06/08/2012 13:51

I hate the DVLA. I hate the DVLA. They've rejected my wedding certificate for the second time, totally ignoring the letter I enclosed explaining that it is not a photocopy! I can't help it that the Registers of Scotland sent me a replacement copy in black and white. If they had just printed it on their greeny-yellow paper then this would all be over by now and I would have my bloody driver's licence. I hate the DVLA, I hate the DVLA...waiting for a call back from the Edinburgh office to see if they can check the documents there.

Scarlet, chin up, it will be okay! Maybe DS will sleep it off. Brooking that he makes a miraculous recovery and nothing untoward happens. Or that if he is sick, he waits until your DH gets home.

M frequently brings up clear to whitish liquid - don't really know what it is but it doesn't bother her. She also spends lots of time drooling and chewing her fingers, but no teeth have appeared yet.

Ninja, yay for DD's weight gain! Well done you!

M's jabs went pretty well - she stopped howling fairly quickly and just looked hard-done by. She's all stoic!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 06/08/2012 13:54

Bloody Registers say it must be a photocopy or it would be on coloured paper. How the hell did I find a photocopy and not the original? Blush Have ordered my second replacement wedding certificate for another £15. I must not lose this one, I must not lose this one...

pommedechocolat · 06/08/2012 14:02

Is he eating scarlet? It's very common for toddlers to say their tummy hurts when they've actually got a sore throat. Something to do with glands!

pommedechocolat · 06/08/2012 14:03

I'm anOther one wondering about teeth! Dd1 got her bottom two together at 7 months I think.

Biscuitsandtea · 06/08/2012 14:09

I'm wondering whether we should get funding for a study as to whether brooking makes babies teeth come earlier?

Still brooking for your DS Scarlet xx

DreamingOfPeace · 06/08/2012 14:17

Urgh. DT1 has resumed normal service. How do I get him to sleep in his own cot? I spent nearly an hour last night between 4& 5 shushing and patting... No joy. Put him in beside me, he grabs s big handful of duvet (to check I can't move him?!) And goes to sleep... Still up 2 hourly though. On his back. But he won't go to sleep on his tummy, won't be moved into tiger in the tree and stay asleep for a put down. Just urgh. I need him to catch on about a bit of self soothing...

scarlet, he will not be sick, I am brooking no argument it will be so Thanks

Pomme, all rubbish, S was chucking up everywhere last night. Bloody refluxing non sleeping babies . Thanks for you too

scarletfingernail · 06/08/2012 14:19

Thanks for the brooking everyone. He's in bed but still awake and banging around. I'm so worried I can't face anything to eat or drink. Usually this wouldn't be a bad thing, but I've only managed to eat half an apple so far today. I almost wish he'd just do it as the anticipation somehow is just as bad if not worse!

He's been eating ok Pomme. He's been holding his tummy, would he do that if it was his throat?
