Candiemom · 08/03/2006 17:33

what is this mysterious yahoo group and how does one join?

Candiemom · 08/03/2006 17:34

ps no Jen you don't need water if you are breastfeeding. It has everything needed and in fact they tell you not to top up. I envy all you gals who have been successful at it.

beartime · 08/03/2006 17:36

chacha - monday's fine

JenJam · 08/03/2006 17:40

bob i would have a good mind to go down there right now, with wine on your breath and say you callin' me a bad muvver?

don't worry. I would forget about it it's their error, nothing to do with you.

beartime · 08/03/2006 17:43

hi jenjam - had the same conversation abt water and bfing with my grandma in law! I think the fact that she prescribed sleep, water and calgel all mean she doesn't know what she's talking about! BTW have u noticed any connection between crying and foods you eat? As for what I've been doing all day...errr... feeding baby, cooking for la familia, seeing HV, trying to help DH with computer stuff, cleaning bathroom and entertaining baby!

novadandypowder · 08/03/2006 18:06

JenJam you are making me LMAO today!!!

Natalie has discovered she can shriek, a really girly high pitched shriek. We've had great fun having a shrieking conversation just now.

novadandypowder · 08/03/2006 18:09

BoB - that knitting pattern is fabulous!!!! Maybe send it to Michael Jackson - lol.

Anyone else got a bulimic baby? Natalie sucks her fingers so hard she makes herself gag and vomit.

browniechick · 08/03/2006 19:46

Hello - I too saw that Biddulph cahp on the telly this morning - sliders & Slammers - make mothers feel bad why don't you - it would be very nice to stay at home all day with my baby - but unless the government are going to pay me handsomely to do it (and I'm not talking the measley £100 p/w we get at the mo - and that's only for a limited time) then I don't see how we can stay at home till bubs is school age (unles DH becomes porn star or gigilo or something! Wink - sorry, but these official types make my blood boil - what would he know about being a mother anyway??!! Angry
BoB - What's in the Envelope!!!!!!!!!!?????????? Don't forget to let us know!
Nova - Thomas also sticks his fingers and fist so far down his throat that he starts to gag/choke, then hurls up milk! I keep telling him not to do that as it only makes him cough - but he doesn't appear to want that advice at the moment!
Also, think I should touch wood whilst stating this - but we haven't had any poo all over vest/up body nappies either - they can be up his back or over his little winky, but the poo doesn't escape past the edge of the nappy. Think I may have cursed myself now and will be in for big poo fest tomorrow (although we have had 4, yes 4 pooy nappies today - a personal best!!!! Grin)

Hope the rest of you are well - think will go on yahoo site to see if there are any new photos since last looked!

Brownie & Thomas

Hi guys, haven't caught up yet but wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEN!! Looking forward to your party on Sunday. Smile Hope you had a lovely day. BEKS, hope Thomas is feeling better soon. The lurgy does seem to last forever. Hope you're keeping sane too. Vomiting babies are so hard on the laundry. Seems like you've just cleaned up one mess and suddenly there's another. Hang in there. Hopefully won't last much longer.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOB!! Totally forgot it was your birthday when I spoke to you earlier. We had just stumbled in from the ILs and I was still catching my breath. Hope you had a great day. I've got to go read the thread now and see what was in the envelope!

BEKs and Londoner, don't worry about Thurs. BoB and I have rescheduled for Costa on Friday morning. Tobes is back at school so it will be a bit more peaceful. Rosie is doing much better. The soya formula has been like magic. She's doing really well aside from being a bit constipated. I cut back on her Gaviscon and that's made a big difference. Now I'm thinking she doesn't actually have reflux at all and it was just the milk sensitivity/allergy. Due to see pediatrician this week or next and will hopefully get better answers then.

ChaCha · 08/03/2006 19:54

Totally not relevant to babies or the like but I need some help.
Some favourite baby whites have gone a lovely deep shade of pink thanks to putting a red jumper in with the lot. I bought some 'rescue it' - waste of money, even deeper shade of pink now. Any suggestions on how to get them white again? Lots of his really nice white blankies, vests, gro's and my nursing bras in there :(

Jenjam - The one that really gets me is when Z is just having a little moan while biting on fist and someone says:
'What have they been doing to you?' 'Oh tell X all about it?' 'Ohhh..they've been mean to you?' 'Oh, that's terrible, you just tell your xxx all about it. Oh the little liars' etc.. etc..

goldenoldie · 08/03/2006 19:55

Candi - good idea to buy the dress at home. Might even work out cheaper if you know where to shop?

I saw SB on BBC news this morning too. Don't agree with everything he said, but there were some sensible points, like mums being able to take a (paid) year off work - hope Tony Blair was watching.

JenJam - Think you did the right thing, but like you, I would have an irrational worry that any involvement might have just made things worse.

If she has the baby you will have to give her maternity leave!!!Would be a bit embarrasing watching heavily pregnant cleaner struggle with your housework!

I like to observe the 6pm threshold before the boozing begins!

You're planning to stay where you are and not move then?

Belated birthday greetings Ben and BoB. I love the view from the OXO tower, always makes me feel like a movie star.

BEKsmum · 08/03/2006 20:35

Evening ladies,

Thank you for all the lovely B'day messages for Ben, he's had a great day and has been totally spoilt. Quick quiz for you though, I'll list three things that Ben got for his B'day and you tell me which was the favourite Lego airport, scalextric car, swivel head torch to go with star making kit? Yep you guessed it Grin

Thomas is feeling much much better too thank you, although appears to be having trouble sucking on his bottle and is really faffing around at each feed, so not sure if he has a sore throat or whether it's just teething.

Tex you're quite right about the laundry, I've only got half a dozen outfits at the most and they all appear to have been in the washing at least once in the last couple of days - have had some very strange concoctions on recently.

Nova they had to have a vast amount of insurance for that advert and yes car and shop windows were broken - but I'm sure who ever came up with the idea thought it was a good one at the time. I'll ask my mate about it again and find out how many balls were actually used, she did tell me but baby brain has forgotten.

Bob sounds like you had a lovely lunch, hope your evening is going well and that you've finally got to open the envelope. Don't worry abouth the HV it's there problem not yours.

Candi you need to ask Busyalexmum for an invite to the Yahoo group, it's where we keep all our baby pics.

Rodeo, glad you enjoyed your ride today, keep saying we'll take Ben riding but I'm scared stiff of the blinking things!

Right off to clear up the debris from earlier, speak to you all tomorrow Beks

Diege · 08/03/2006 20:52

Phew, only away a few hours, and the you've all been posting like crazy!
CHACHA: I would recommend bleach if the items are all white (ie.no coloured trimmings); they should come up a treat, but read the back of bottle, and don't use the thick stuff Smile.
RODEO: glad you had a good ride this morning, still v.jealous Envy; is it to be a regular thing, or a one off?m (BTW have scoured heat mag tv lisings, and found a good reality show for us (ok, not good, but you know...); the Games is back on ch4 next week, so something good bitch about Grin.
NOVA: lol at high pitched screaming Grin; wait till the novelty wears off !
L's bumby seat arrived today; she's not keen, at best bemused, but dds love it and have claimed it as their own Grin.
Biddulph piddulph...you know my views on this, so I'll just add that his book is out this month..hmmm, no shock there then Grin
Right, apprentice is on!
Diege Smile

beartime · 08/03/2006 22:27

Nova - yeah Caleb gags on his fingers all the time!

He is spitting up all the time at the mo - d'you think I could be over-feeding him? I have noticed after a growth spurt I tend to force as much as I can down him subconsciously cos I'm scared of him waking up in the night again, whereas really he doesn't need that much.

Went to the HV today and daringly suggested we make our next appointment for 2 months time - a month sounded so soon! But then I realised he's 6 mths then - wow time for weaning will soon be on us! [panicking]

Candi - you need to either CAT your e-mail address to Busyalexsmummy or write it on here so she can e-mail you an invite.

BEKsmum · 09/03/2006 08:03

Bob - What was in the envelope? How could you keep us waiting? Smile

Candiemom · 09/03/2006 09:00

Hi all, am I right that we aren't doing the walk today?

Busy -- how can I get on the yahoo? Don't want to give my email here (trust you gals, don't trust lurkers!).

What does everyone have planned for today?

I don't know if dd is better on the Nutramigen formula than the staydown. She throws up a LOT more which we can live with but she is also eating less regularly and we are back to 2 - 3 feeds a night. Grrr. The ranitidine is ok but I don't really see that it helps THAT much. She still fusses after eating quite often. Fewer hiccups though. Anyway, we're stuck with this protocol for a few weeks as we won't change it while on our trip. Anyone have any experience with Nutramigen?

Well darls, off to Boots to pick up a few things.

Diege · 09/03/2006 09:15

Morning Smile. Bet BOB is nursing a massive hangover this morning Grin...that's no excuse, like BEKS says, we need to know!!!!!!!
Well, 'bad' night last night. Libby woke up at 4ish with really high pitched screaming (has happended a few times over the last month. Picked her up and her stomach was gurgling like mad; think she must have been in some sort of pain, but could it be wind 6 hours after she was fed? perhaps just a regular tummy ache? Wouln't be too concerned, but dds were awake too, so an early start(thoigh Libby settled back to sleep after cuddle!) Can't believe it's only 9am!!!
Other motorists beware of me on my driving lesson taday! (reverse round corner day, gulp!)
BEAR: know what you mean about feeding them so they don't wake Blush; yes, I think the spitting up can sometimes be because of this, though agree it's really hard to stop it. But, as you say, with weaning round the corner it'll be a whole new ball game in few weeks Grin.
Right, another cup of coffee I think.
Oh, before I forget, shall we say Monday for weigh in or another day? Next week would be week one then, so we would normally start with our existing weight, and say what we want to lose. Not sure others would be happy with this, so we could just wait a week and start on what we've gained/lost? I'm making things sound more complicated than they should be I'm sure Blush.
Speak later!,
Diege Smile.

Londoner · 09/03/2006 09:24

Hi allSmile,

BEKs - glad Ben had such a good b.day, so sweet to hear about his respnse to the b.day banner...and lol about the torch!
BoB - sounds like you had a great day, lovely stuff. OxO lunch sounds sublime. BTW - turn the tables on them re: Oskars notes... don't feel bad, it's their cock up. They lost notes for my 1st baby too, and used to get all flustered and eye me suspiciously so I know how you feel. Please realise that they're prob just feeling really annoyed, shocked and embarrassed that it's happened - I mean it's pretty major stuff if you think about it..... good job you're such a great mum! As the others have said, it is their problem. Personally I would be pretty annoyed...
Candi - sorry to hear you're still struggling with the reflux. Have you heard of
\link{http://www.occ.uk.com/info/info.html
\ this place?}. Perhaps a bit of cranial osteopathy might help.... they are such a lovely bunch of people there and have really helped my ds2 with his sleeplessness.

Londoner · 09/03/2006 09:28

Hi Diege! Crossing posts again...lol at your driving post, and hope you have a great lesson!
Candi - meet up not on today that's right - how about 11am at the picturehouse tomorrow-in the foyer? That gives us time to say 'hi' etc and we should be 1st there so know who we are?
Jen - loving your posts...

Candiemom · 09/03/2006 09:50

11 am perfect. We have a mamas and papas stoller and I wear a 3/4 lenght khaki coat.

Bear, it is interesting you are finding more spitting up too (we think it's due to our new formula and the reflux for us). With you guys, I can't believe it is overfeeding -- but maybe just a phase? My ped encouraged me to try to make her wait a bit longer between feeds and perhaps this might work for you too. Try cuddles instead of instantly feeding and see what happens. You might get a half hour or so longer between feeds and perhaps this will help. talking through my hat of course.

What is a CAT?

yorkshirepuddling · 09/03/2006 13:36

Afternoon all

Candiemom - I had the same problem re the reflux, always got 'theres not much wrong with you is there' when I was showing grandmothers the reflux symptoms, or talking about what had happened - Same carried on happening when diagnosed. I'm sure that they think that we are just giving the medication for something to do!!! Angry

BoB your pressie sounds fantastic. You are really lucky to have such a thoughtful partner Envy Oh and a belated happy birthday.

I've finally got my piccies on Yahoo. It only took me three hours last night (PC problems) you wouldn't believe I work with computers all day every day.

Congrats with the wedding Candiemom and the christening. We are getting Holly christened in May but having problems with the godparents as one hasn't been christened and the church insist on this despite it not being a legal requirement.

Had a lovely babyfree afternoon yesterday and spent the day shopping, but was really glad to see her when he came home and gave her a big cuddle. Today I have a very sleepy baby but I got my first giggle from her so I'm a happy mummy.

Candiemom · 09/03/2006 13:55

Yorkshire -- getting it all done in Canada avoids those pesky problems such as previous marriages and godparents must have been baptised themselves issues. We are going to do both services in the chancel of my church (where I was baptised and confirmed) with 17 guests, mostly family and two best friends and the whole place is very excited about it. It is so affirming! Compared to when we were trying to do it here and it felt that we had to get special permission from everyonen and their cat. Different values of course which one can't judge, but I did grow up in tolerant multi-national Canada!! Chose the menu last night and the venue is also being very helpful, and the music. The church has a terrific organ (insert DH joke here).

Current concern is about all the barfing dd is doing and going home. The formula smells not so great and I smell of it all the time as does she. The flight might be interesting! Also I've warned people not to wear dresses that they'd freak if someone threw up on it (hopefully the only candidate here would be dd).
